At least he could take something supernatural out of the picture then. Creation had ******** with their heads enough recently, not counting the recovery from Merlin and Excalibur before that. They needed to catch a ******** break.

"I can make some educated guesses from there," he said. "Being his pissy self, he threw that on you again for a reason," a slight motion with his head towards the bracelet. "So...Hmm. Did he mention your friend?" S-H-U-N. Considering that several people had barked at her on the radio, he wouldn't be surprised.

clueless as usual

No, it wasn't a secret but it didn't help that Milo had never personally interacted with the man, only saw him at a few of the major mission briefings and had a sort of skewed perspective after encountering one of the odd Caelius Princess Golems (and at the time, hadn't realized it was one, still kind of didn't).

"Man, didn't think he was that rough on those in his division, ya know?" Milo scratched at the back of his head as his lips thinned into a frown. "Big contrast from Allan-taichou, ya." Why had she switched divisions again?

No, they really didn't. They didn't sugarcoat, but they didn't paint the whole picture either. Looking down at her, damn near helplessly lying there like that...she didn't need to say anything more about it. Deus wasn't doing him any favors by offering to pick him out of the shithole that was his old life, that was for damn sure.

Her question had him raise a brow, but he shrugged. "Not for good, nah," he said. "You probably gotta rest though," he gestured to her neck and machines and such to make his point, then paused and held her gaze for a beat.

"'less you want me to stay. I can do that, too."

She seemed to sink inwardly as he talked. This was a hard subject even with what was supposed to be someone close.

(But "close" seemed like an empty word now).

She wiggled her hand not in sign language, but in the general gesture for "kind of." She suspected Shun had to do with some of it- reported by 4 people- but not all of it.

"Reported," she said roughly, wincing slightly afterward. She didn't know how to say that in ASL and trying to spell it made it her head spin.

"Argued." She pulled her hand from his and made both of her hands into fists that lightly bumped in to one another like a headbutt. She had to close her eyes for a moment after that.

Clueless As Usual

Chel wanted to jovially agree with Milo, that she hadn't known Caelius to be so callous, but she did, she did. Not one but many people had tried to warn her- Finn's eye, Deryk's behavior around the lead. She knew she had been headed into a ******** of a division.

She just thought she'd been enough to handle it. Maybe that was arrogant too.

Rather than say anything, she put two figures to the corners of her mouth and pushed upwards, making a smile. Telling him to smile. She didn't like seeing Milo of all people frowning.

Detached

"Do what ... you want ..." Chel said, staring at him rather pitifully before shifting her gaze back at the tent's ceiling.

Chel could never keep another person or force them to leave; she was a person of choice and would always exist in her freedoms. She desperately clung to the company and equally recognized that watching a person wheeze on a cot wasn't entertaining to any except those who cared immensely.

So she left in him to decide if he wanted to stay with the boredom or get on with his day. She couldn't fault him for either choice.

Detached

Neither choice was particularly attractive to Rhys. On the one hand he could get on with his day--duties and training and all--while on the other he could sit there and maybe take a nap in the corner so she could rest. It didn't take too long, either, just a few seconds in fact, before he turned to leave. He didn't have much else to say, anyway, and heavy sorts of silences weren't exactly his thing.

"I'll be around then," the brunette said as he waved and made his way out. "Get some rest."

He made a face after she closed her eyes, thoughtfully frowning. The wounds he could account for easily then, but...Chel wasn't a person easily broken, even when shackled again. What had Caelius done to put her in that state? And why did it still sound like what Finn had described?

"Can you handle more today, or should I let you rest?"

Haunting

At first Abbi had been checking on all the machines hooked up to Chel, wandering around them, glaring at them as if that would help them to heal her friend faster. As if things were that simple.
Abbi assumed that she was being quiet and didn't notice any movement until she turned with a sigh to see Chel very much awake. And very much startled.
All the air in the room suddenly disappeared.

"Hi." Abbi squeaked out in a tight, poor attempt at chipper. She took a step back and rose a hand, the universal sign of "I mean you no harm". "Sorry I startled you... They said you had been... Uh, sedated recently... I thought you'd still be asleep." A smile did crack the line of her mouth, and she gestured to the bed.
"But hey! You're not! So... Hi!"

Wound

"Need?" Gretchen frowned, brows drawing in as she looked down at the other girl. "I don't need anything. I just wanted to check up on you, I was worried." Was still worried. The sight of her strong friend laid out like this was painful. Gretchen's chest hurt looking at her.

"Do you need anything?"

Chel's eyes were empty, devoid of the normal spark that lit her like a firecracker. She wasn't a rebel like this, she was just a limp body in an infirmary cot.

Her eyes cracked open and she looked at him. She gave him a weak thumbs up. She could handle more. Chel could always handle more.

Haunting

A lot of energy in the room was not something Chel was used to and as such her first response was a small groan. Rather than being annoyed that it wasn't quiet, she was instead simply annoyed that she couldn't join in.

"Hi," Chel said, not speaking above a whisper, her voice missing it's usual energy. Caelius had taken more than her memories whether he knew or not.

He'd taken her ability to care.

Wound

"Who are you?" Chel said softly, still guarded but unsure why a strange wanted to check on her, why they would be worried. Maybe they were a creep that invaded other peoples' spaces.

Either way, Chel didn't have the energy to entertain. If they weren't a nurse, they needed to leave.

"Who?" The frown deepened, and once again the trainee looked taken aback. "You know who I am." Was this a game? It wasn't a very fun one, if that was the case. But she didn't think Chel was joking--Didn't think Chel had the energy to joke.

There was something awfully sincere about the question that set a hard knot of unease at the pit of her stomach. What the hell had happened? "I'm Gretchen. Don't you remember me?"

Wound

"Someone ... else," Chel whispered, pointing a finger towards the exit. Gretchen must have had the wrong person. This was the first time they'd met.

But Chel was starting to sense a pattern between all these visitors, and even she couldn't help but think something strange was afoot. Maybe she was trapped in another of Merlin's tricks.

It wouldn't be the first time.
