In the Garden of Monsters

Taking the coins and placing them in his coin purse, the boy would shuffle this into his coat before bowing to his opponent. Etiquette and all that jazz. Afterwards he would return Jekyll to his shoulder and proceed forward.

Jekyll meanwhile would look disappointingly at the ceiling. He'd missed the lights.

Bio:The story of how Argyle met Jekyll is a bit of an odd one. After purchasing a bulk shipment of skin rejuvenating mud from Sinnoh's Great Marsh (Guarnteed to take twenty years off your appearance!), Mistress Rosevelt had set aside some time for a fully immersive experience with the product, during which she received quite the surprise. It would seem the mud had come with stowaway in the form of an egg. Unfortunately it was about this same time the egg decided to hatch, splattering the aristocratic woman with muck and eggshell. After a shriek and shrill cry for the nearest Argyle to attend her, Verde arrived and was immediately ordered to dispose of the creature, although not before cleaning up the mess it had created. Whispering a snide remark just below his breath, both Mistress and Argyle were in for a surprise when the newly born Croagunk began to snicker devilishly. It seemed the Poison-type had heard the boy, and shared his sense of humor. Amused by this fact the young Butler then went about the task of convincing Mistress Rosevelt that the Croagunk would be quite useful in his regular duties, allowing him to make the manor to "shine as radiantly as you do Mistress Rosevelt". Little more in the way of convincing was required on the boy's part, and so he obtained his first and for the time being only Pokemon.

Since then Jekyll has proven a good match for Argyle, frequently snickering at the boy's comments be they made aloud, or simply implied. Unlike Argyle however Jekyll does nothing to hide his wicked nature, frequently mocking others quite openly and then laughing about it. Though cruel he is not crude, and more than willingly to amuse himself by catching the enemy off guard.

Argyle would be able to hear a bright, peppy jangling noise. If he looped to his right, he'd see a small Baltoy resting on the shelf, spinning in circles like the world's bubbliest top. Perhaps someone had sold her to the shop by mistake? Either way, she didn't seem to care about the youth, so he'd be free to continue forward... or attack, if he felt like it.

Well Argyle was for all intents and purposes Argyle, and when faced with such a situation he had an odd tendency to throw things...at other things. Surprisingly however instead of reaching for a conveniently placed box of ping-pong balls, the boy would keep walking. He had some advantages in such a fight...but at the same time Psychic-types were still something of a problem.

Strolling through the aisles of the place, Argyle would have one thing foremost on his mind. It wasn't about who sold a Baltoy, nor even what he was looking for here. He had but one question.....did ANYONE work here? Really someone needed to teach these people about customer service.

As if heard by Arceus, Argyle's question would have be answered! Sort of. A grinning head stuck out from behind a particularly heavy armoire, fixing right on the young trainer. "Helloooooooooo there, young man! You look like a trainer, am I right? Of course I'm right!" The figured bounced right into Argyle's path-- an older gentleman with a thick handlebar mustache in a somewhat rumpled white suit. He spoke quickly, like a country auctioneer that had gotten lost halfway to the fair. "I know trainers like you-- enterprising, adventurous, willing to take the big risks because they can pay off in dividends! And boy do I have a offer for you!"

Giving Argyle a wink, he pulled out an strange device-- a bizarre metallic box that shone in the dim light, a lever pointed out towards the boy and his Croagunk. "I'm collector, y'see-- collected all kinds of things in my travels! Store'em all in my magical, mystical Mystery Box! And for the low, low price of 100 gold, you can take a whirl on my box! I guarantee, there'll be a sight to see!" His grin widened as he bounced on his

[If you decide to take a gamble, hand the man 100 Gold, pull the lever, and roll a D20! If not, just walk on by.]

For a moment Argyle would cast a skeptical look at Jekyll, and for that same moment Jekyll would give a skeptical look to his trainer. This man seemed more at home at a carnival or fair, but...

The pair would give a unified shrug. Why not. As luck would have it they'd come into some unexpected pocket money anyway. Might as well put it to use. Allowing Jekyll to retrieve the coin while the Butler himself used am arm to block of the details of it's exact whereabouts, Argyle would soon hand the man the appropriate monetary compensation before pulling the lever.

The box lit up, lights sparkling as a loud whirring noise emitting from within. It grew louder, louder, louder, louder--

-- and a perky trombone sound echoed as the door fell open. A single Rawst Berry lay there.

"Well... you win some, you lose some, little buddy!" The collector seemed somewhat baffled, and perhaps a bit mortified. "Have fun with that!" He'd toss the Berry at Argyle before running off, potentially concerned about any repercussions.

Argyle would stare at the Berry for a moment, turning it over in his hands a few times to check that it wasn't rotten. Well....he supposed berries were always useful. At least this one had an effect he could make use of. Or, there was always that berry patch he could grow once he obtained a Water-type.

In the mean time he had items to acquire....

Jekyll meanwhile would give a vocal cry of ">BUUUUUUURN~!<"

"OH SNAP A CUSTOMER!"

The bookshelf to Argyle's left shuddered and shook, and from behind it burst what must have been an employee. A new employee, at least-- he looked barely older than Argyle, all fresh-faced and cheery. Still innocent and excited about life; who knew how long that would last. "Sorry, man! Are you looking to sell anything? Or looking for anything in particular? There, uh, isn't really a working index of things, but I can check if we have something you're interested in."

Argyle would turn and look at the young employee with an arched brow. Needless to say their knowledge of the store's stock and practices was likely dubious at best. Still, it couldn't hurt to ask them about certain things. Doubtful they had any of it, but one didn't know until they tried, and in places like this you were often bound to fine unique selections at a lower than average price. Usually because something was missing or broken, but what the Mistress didn't know didn't hurt her. Though he supposed he was shopping for himself this time...but what did he care really?

"I've a couple questions actually" Argyle began politely "First on that list, I was wondering if you had an items useful for Berry Cultivation, or perhaps something useful for hatching an egg?" He asked, turning slightly and gesturing to the cylinder tied to his back.

"Umm..." The young employee bite his lip, thinking. "Definitely nothing for egg hatching-- you'd have to go to one of those specialized stores a city over for that-- but I think we've got some berry stuff." He disappeared down another row, leaving the trainer and his Pokemon for a bit. After about three minutes, he'd return, hefting some items under his arm. "I've some Honey and one bag of Mulch," he remarked, placing them nearby with price tags up.

For a brief moment Argyle would stare at the Honey. Certainly it was a useful item and he intended to buy it. Not just for Berry Growth either. Such things could have other uses. He'd considered pelting the employee with a flurry of questions, such as if the honey as locally sourced, whether it was wild or farmed, anything he could use to try and drive the price down really; but the price as it was seemed reasonable enough. Thus today he'd give them a break. "I'll take both the Honey" The Butler indicated with a polite gesture, using his other hand to dole out the appropriate 150g.

Moving on to the next step in his grandmaster plan, the boy would then retrieve the Blue Scarf and the Idol CD, remarking "I was also wondering what I could get for these."

"Thank you!" The employee flashed a cheerful smile at Argyle, handing over the two jars of honey while placing the money in a side pouch. He placed the huge bag of mulch on the ground, his arms getting tired. He looked over the items, humming to himself. "Well... I can take 200 Gold for the CD, and 50 for the Scarf." He tried to sound appropriately imposing, but he was a bit too young to pull it off.

"Oh really now? I'll have you know I sold a CD just like that for over twice that amount when I got here, and that's without negotiation. I'm certain a particularly savvy salesman could talk up a collector to quite a bit more. They could probably even get a raise or an award of some kind" Argyle said, attempting to put his hopefully silver tongue to work "Just think of it. You could be seen as a new, up and coming employee with a bright future....for the low price of 600g" He said, gesturing towards the CD.

"And this article, obtained from a connoisseur of the fine arts, is pure silk, dyed naturally with fresh rawst berries to give it a lingering scent. Feel it, smell it, can you not sense it's value?" Argyle said, continuing his attempts to wheel and deal the clerk. Good think the scarf had been sitting so close to his berries "Straight from Kalos, where such things are all the rage, and we all know how Kalos is always at the height of Fashion" Except that one dress the Mistress wore last summer.
