Was it always going to give her three coins, or was it somehow related to the numbers that were coming up on the screen? Again, Joy Ann had to wonder at how much electricity was being used in this place. Not that she particularly minded lights-out time at the prison, but this building was bright. Bright and noisy and full of death. Notthinkingaboutdeath.
She popped another coin in the machine and hoped the coins would keep returning to her with friends.

This was a very reliable game, wasn't it? Joy Ann smiled down at her latest three coins, feeling her spirits lift a little bit. It'd be great to win more, of course.
A nearby woman shrieking happily distracted her for a moment. Oooh, lots of coins were coming out of her machine. Joy Ann would probably shriek the same way if her own machine started spitting out coins like that. Hopefully that wasn't too much of an unrealistic dream.

Oh, maybe it was an unrealistic dream. Joy Ann frowned as she failed to win something for the first time. She looked at the screen, trying to figure out what was different about the last go, but its five numbers didn't offer up any answers. Ah well, perhaps that was why it was gambling?
Figuring she could feed the machine one more coin before moving on to something else, she popped her coin in, pulled the lever, and waited. Come on, luck!
Ooh, ten coins! That was definitely nice, as well as being a mood lifter. Yes, that gave her enough confidence to try her hand at something else. She could do this!

He had no interest in playing the slot machines when he entered the building and he had no interest in playing them now. But of all the activities in the casino, this was one of the most straight forward and it didn't involve being around and of their disgusting staff.
Now hopefully the machines weren't rigged to lose.

The first pull of the lever resulted in five coins. Five measly coins out of, what was his price? He wasn't even sure what it was, though he imagined it wasn't cheap.
He made a mental note to ask the next person he saw, as he pulled the lever again and frowned at the pitiful 3 coins the machine spat out.

He was running out of turns and the machines were only offering up a sliver of what he needed. But then again, he supposed he could be thankful over the fact that he was gaining a few coins, rather than losing them.

And that was it. The last and final roll he was permitted to play had given him another three coins. Which, if he added it to the other coins he had just won, equaled out to a total of nine. Ugh. Add that to the fifty he was given when he entered the building and he had fifty-nine towards his freedom.
Yeah this was going great.
Exiting!

With no real options, but to play their games or die, she moved to sit in front of the slot machines, hesitantly pulling on the lever and watching the numbers spin.
Her second try and and she had barely even dented the costs of what she would need to pay to get herself out. How were they supposed to win this? Maybe they really were just set up to lose, and this was just a fun past time for them. Watching people suffering and then killing and e--no, she didn't need to think about that, nor did she want to.
By now, Brie had grown more frustraited with the slot machines, and was almost tempted to dent the stupid thing. But knowing these people, it would likely result in some form of penalty.
Well.. at this rate, she might as well just sign herself over to them and end her life, because the bad luck she was facing from these slot machines were enough to shame her into death. Good thing she never wanted to make a living doing this.
And that was that. In all five tries she had made a grand total of ten coins. Well that was a bust. Maybe some other game around here was her true calling.
Unlikely.
She really wasn't good at gambling. She knew that before she had even began.
