As Aizawa was sitting down he took the time to glance around at the current members of the party and excess people that were clustered around them. It seemed that people were adjusting to their new living situation quite nicely which made him happy for the most part. While glancing about the young Monk took noticed of a male that kinda stuck out like a sore thumb with the way he was sticking to himself as he approached him. He gave off that.. loner vibe, or what you would call a Solo Player in games like this. Once he was within distance the first thing Aizawa looked for was his name which was surprisingly not there, but replaced with three question marks. Swiping his hand up he brought forth his user interface and repeatedly flicked his finger right until he found the tab he was looking for, which was surrounding players. Finding the mystery man in the list he tired to open his page but was denied access, meaning he had set it to private. A thin smile danced it's way across Aizawa's face as he proceeded to sent the man a friend's request before closing the system menu. Motioning towards a seat across from him he sat up and presented himself more appropriately. "I'm assuming that you are the one I've been messaging, no? Please, have a seat, and to answer your question.. yes. This is Splatter Party, for the most part." Aizawa flashed a friendly smile his way before clasping his hands together atop the table. "I'm glad to see you could make it. Seeing as how the others are busy, should we discuss strats or something? Or perhaps you would like to know more about us? You seem like an inquisitive fellow haha." Aizawa relaxed a bit.

The Dark Passenger moved towards the green haired male who called himself Kono. He was an anomaly in the game which only Gabriel could see. A projection of his mind. Gabriel himself studied the player quickly up and down. "What do you think of him?" The Dark Passenger asked knowing the boy wouldn't answer in front of others. Rule number one was to integrate and act normal. Talking to himself or to imaginary friends was not considered to be integrating or normal. "Yes , I am." Gabriel replied affirming he was the player Kono had been messaging to come join the Splatter Party in their raid. The boy would take a seat in front of Kono after being offered a seat. "At least he has manners. The Divinity player showed a great lack of class." The Dark Passenger said moving to float beside Gabriel who was now seated. Looking around, Gabriel only saw Kono. Some other people seated farther out. They must've been part of the Splatter Gang as well. "Yes. I find myself very interested in the rewards killing a floor boss grants. You and your party seem..." Gabriel could hear the green haired female from his seat making a scandal about killing and chaos. "Interesting..." The boy was trying to speak, but the girl was breaking his concentration. People like her made him lose his temper. He tried so hard to conceal his insanity and there were people that carelessly flaunted it. "Is she always like that?" Gabriel asked shaking his leg. The Dark Passenger was gone. He wondered when it left. Kono appeared relaxed while Gabriel was becoming agitated.

The agitation would become so intense that Gabriel couldn't stand being there anymore. He had to leave. Going back was a mistake. "I'm sorry." He mumbled stumbling to leave his seat. The boy booked it once he was far away from it. [exit]

"Yo! Ama! Lee! How do you fare today, my friends!" GILGAMESH push forward through a crowd of lower level players. He was relatively high-leveled and stood out in this town with his shining armor and large weapons. Snowy lockes of hair cascaded down behind his head and over his right side of his face, resting along his shoulders. Bronzed skin added a contrast to the color of his hair, further contrasted by the striking blue of his eyes. Through his hair, pointed ears, both adorned with multiple rings.

"GILGAMESH! It's good to see you? How was your quest?" The taller male, known as Lee, stepped forward and addressed the elven berserker approaching them. The shorter one, Ama, looked giddy at GILGAMESH's arrival and smiled at him while waving. Both of them were shaman of a lower level.

"It was easy. I had to slay twenty ents, but there wasn't anything else to it. Just a simple grinding quest for me. Maybe when you guys grow another ten levels or so, I'll take you to the ents for some training to get you ready for those fights" This is what GILGAMESH did. He was a helper to the newer players. He enjoyed doing it because he could imprint the image of him as a great warrior into their minds. His fantasy was to be viewed as a great hero and warrior to everyone, even in this online world.

"That sounds great, GIL! Ama, let's go get our new gear and start grinding again." Lee turned to look at his female companion, whom smiled and bounced around without saying a word, but still showing how excited she was to go out and fight for monsters. "We'll be up to your level soon, GIL! Just you wait."

"Well I can't wait til I can party with you on higher level quests! We'll make a really great team. Once you're ready, do come to me for some customized equipment. No fee necessary for the two of you." GILGAMESH let out a hearty laugh, followed by a low chuckle from Lee and giddy excitement from Ama. The three began to part ways at this moment, but a message appeared in front of all the players warning that the server was going down for a quick moment. Seconds later, everyone saw blackness.

        > SERVER DOWN
        > SERVER REBOOTING
        > ....

After momentary darkness, the usual login screen appeared, and Berthold, the player behind GILGAMESH, was auto-logged into his account and sent into the game. Things felt.... different, though....

        > REBOOT COMPLETE
        > WELCOME TO FARDOR AVIL ONLINE 2.0

Why do I feel so strange now? My senses are all out of whack and I feel like I'm.... in a different world.

GILGAMESH looked around at the area. He spotted a few thousand newbie players all gathered around him, but he also recognized a good portion of them that he knew were higher level players. It was a real shock to the system. Before he had a chance to question anybody about what was going on, a booming voice rang out over the crowd. A woman's voice, it seemed. GILGAMESH listened as she told all the players what was going on. Panic struck when she mentioned the reset. There was no way that he had lost over forty levels and all of his equipment. So much work had been invested into this character. GILGAMESH shot through his menu and scanned over everything, making sure not to miss anything, It was true. Everything had been reset. That wasn't the biggest note of what this woman said, though. He heard that everyone was now trapped in the game, just like in Sword Art Online, even though they would not permanently die in this game. That was such a strange concept, but it was really reality warping. He was going to be permanently trapped within this video game? This was going to be his world forever? GILGAMESH didn't know how to feel about this.

The announcement ended and panic struck a large portion of the crowd, but GILGAMESH remained calm. He analyzed the situation and noticed a few players around the place remain calm as well. They all left quickly and seemed to have goals for themselves. He would follow suit and find a way out of this crowd. On the way out, he ran into Ama and Lee. They were panicking badly. It wouldn't be good to let them stay there alone with no direction. They were already newbies when this happened. They'd need guidance.

"Come with me if you want to live," GILGAMESH commanded as he reached out both of his hands to his allies. They nodded and accepted the guidance swiftly before being pulled away from the crowd. The trio made their way all the way out of the plaza of the town and over to an alleyway near the market. "Now let's talk about how we're going to go about this situation. I know it's scary, but we need to steer into the skid. If we're stuck here, it'll be a constant struggle. You'll have truly adopt the way of life of this world. You'll have to become a warrior. Are you two ready to do that?" A lot was going to be resting on each of their shoulder to be able to survive and also assist each other in this.

"It'll be hard, but I'll work with Ama to get geared and ready to fight the mobs. After all, we're going to basically be playing a game for the rest of eternity. We'll have to get good at it if we're going to make it anywhere. Ama, will you be able to fight with me?" The girl nodded, but kept her head low. She was terrified and in shock. It was only natural, though, after such an event.

"Hey, both of you, be sure to get equipment and keep yourself to the simplest mobs you can until you're strong enough to move up without an issue. Don't try to be extra brave on the battlefield. I don't want anything bad to happen to you and we don't know how death will affect us in the long run here, even though we'll apparently respawn. First thing is first, we must gear ourselves and get ready. Go to the market, get what you need, and start training as soon as you can before the others flood the hunting grounds. I won't be joining you for a long time. I'll be going my own path, but I'll make sure I check in with you both from time to time." GILGAMESH reached out his hand to Lee and looked him straight in the eyes. "I will never abandon a comrade. I will come back time and time again to assist you when I can."

"It's good to know you haven't changed at all, even in this chaos." Lee grabbed GILGAMESH's hand and smiled. "Just make sure you're not gone for too long at a time. Ama's gonna miss you." An understanding nod was shared between the men. Ama ran to GILGAMESH for a huge hug afterward just before the two parted ways with their mentor, whom turn a corner and was instantly on his way toward a shop that sold weaponry.

"A simple selection here. Not much to be of use, especially to a warrior such as I. All these weapons are too simple and small. I suppose it'll be some time before I get to use anything that I'm more comfortable with. This sword will do, I suppose." GILGAMESH purchased a simple sword from the merchant and equipped it right away. He moved on to an adjacent shop that sold armor. After purchasing and equipping a chest plate, arm plates, and calf plates, the elven berserker made his way toward the item shop. He was left only a portion of the beginner's starting currency. 100 xing wasn't much and he only had 60 left. He'd have to make it count. "I suppose that I'll make sure I stock up on healing crystals and keep a teleport crystal ready." A purchase of two healing crystals and one teleport crystal was made, draining GILGAMESH of all his starting currency. It would be a rough ride to get back up in levels, but he'd make it there for sure.

GILGAMESH was on his way out of the city when he stopped and stared out into the wilderness of the world of which he was now residing. This was such a strange turn of events, but for some reason GILGAMESH felt little pressure. It almost as if he felt he would be happy living in this place. After all, there wasn't much for him in the real world and he was able to make a life for himself here. He could personify his character and become who he was designed to be in this world. He could become the great warrior he set out to be. Maybe this was a good thing for him to be trapped in this place. It'd be unlikely he'd ever leave so he might as well get comfortable.

It took Morwen a while to realise that the other two girls were leaving the central plaza. She was too spaced out, concentrating on the many thoughts going through her mind, to notice anything going on around her. Even though she was trapped inside of a video game with absolute strangers, she felt really happy. She had found what seemed like the perfect group of strangers to help her get through this virtual world, and it gave her a nice feeling. She kept looking back and forth between each of them, trying to figure all of them out. Morwen enjoyed trying to learn new things about people by simply observing them. It was what made humans fun; being so different from one another, and having their own unique story.

Morwen didn't notice that Litzy had started to run away until she heard Litzy screamed at her and Blue to hurry up. At this, she immediately jumped back into reality and looked back at Blue.

"We should get going, Blue, or else they're going to leave us behind," she instructed him.

Morwen turned towards the rest of the crowd, realising just how many people were trapped inside of this game. She didn't know any of them, but she did know that they all had their own special story, and all of those stories led to them getting trapped in this artificial world.

It was depressing for her to think about the real world, where people were probably freaking out, trying to figure out how to solve the problem, but still keep all of these people alive. There were also those who lived by themselves in the real world, who might end up dying of starvation. Even if there was no permadeath in this game, the inability to visit the real world will still kill people, and sadly, most people nowadays are hermits who refuse to socialise with others. If this hacking situation wasn't resolved soon, then lots of people were going to die.

Morwen looked down at the ground looking a little depressed, but looked right back up again and put a smile back on. There was nothing she could do to save anyone and all she could do was endure all that this world threw at her so that she could see the world she knew and loved once again. She was finally ready to take on the virtual world, started speeding up so that she could make it to the fields as soon as possible. She ran all the way to the teleportation field and disappeared from the central plaza in the flash of a light.

Before he could he even approach Divinity, something weird happened. She pixilated out and ported out. That was... impossible or should be. How the hell did she log out. He thought infuriated inside of his mind as he checked his own log out option. Still wasn't there. How did she do it. What the hell was going on right now?

So... that meant no more party from the looks of it. Which meant, he should contact Vox and get a head ups on the whole situation. He didn't want to fall behind while someone else did the first raid. Sending a quick message to Vox, 'Head to Dungeon. Party cancelled.' And just like the other guy, who took off a few second before him, he'd too, would take off in the direction of the dungeon.

It wasn't supposed to be like this. It was just supposed to be an escape from the real world, and yet once green eyes seemed to become a permanent blue. It wasn't his most favorite color, but it wasn't unbearable. He stared at the world around him, impressed and saddened. Most times when he tried a game, he played a couple levels, maybe took a quest and tried to sign out. With so much races and classes, he thought he might create another character, which was a valid option in most games. With that being said, a look of distaste crossed his face when he pushed sign out and was still ingame. No.. He thought as he looked to the world around him. He folded his digital arms, a bit surprised that it felt so...Natural. If this game was going to be real, then he simply had to act like it. Sure, it was a bit weird that he couldn't leave, but he'd rather be here as long as there was no problems. He didn't want to believe that in his home right now, his parents might find him in a chair, unresponsive with a helmet. He laughed at that thought. They wouldn't check on him anyway...Think he was studiyng. He shrugged, checking his inventory and stats. "Mediocre" He said as he looked over his stats. He best go do some quests...Or start a party. Game announcments said something about a raid. He didn't seem strong enough...And it wasn't something appealing honestly. He always thought that was end game content for the best loot. Different game...Different systems. He thought as he made his way into the world. Who knew where he would go off to next? Of course, he did some simple shoping to do. A bow, some armor and a sword, maybe some crystals as well. Off into the world he went. Something would come his way eventually.

This was going to go well, she thought sarcastically. From what she heard, they weren't exactly the silent type. which she needed in order to get get attacks off and actually deal damage. She hoped that they did stay quiet in battle.

Things would be different now that she couldn't go home. She personally was hoping that her parents had listened to the news, and when she didn't call that night, that they found her, attached to her headset. She hopped that no one tried to remove it, she didn't know what would happen if they did. Would she die, or would she just be stuck? Either wouldn't be good. She hoped that they wouldn't freak out.

Maybe if they didn't know, someone from her job would find her. Would she even be noticed as missing? She was just a wall flower. Maybe they wouldn't notice. She stepped through the portal knowing that they were on the others were waiting for her on the other side. She would answer anything that they had said to her before they left.

'Perfect plan, I would say...' His last thoughts were immediately thrown out the window when the red hooded woman simply ignored him. The young man could feel the giant "You're not worthy of a glance from me" arrow just stab him through the heart, as he sat there, waiting for an in game menu or something to pop up. The young man wanted to yell out so bad, but he knew for a fact that that would not be a good idea in the slightest. So he sat there silently and calmly, listening for any kind extra info or tid bits of information he could use to his advantage. Despite her crazy a** look, the girl in the red cape was no doubt both a threat, and the strongest trapped person in the game at the moment. If he was not careful, the girl could become a giant thorn in his side, especially since she was his polar opposite. Crazy, wears red, bloodthirsty, psychotic, not very chill or calm; Did he mention that she was crazy?

His eye followed the blue haired character, who was walking away from the girl in the red hood. A smart man indeed. She did, however, make a huge scene about seeing whatever he thought he was. And as soon as she proceeded to do whatever it is she though she wanted to do, she seemed... Displeased. What could have possibly gone wrong in such a short amount of time? 'Maybe she has some bipolar disorder stacked on top of her sadistic tendencies.. ' Whatever. It really had no effect on his life. Or so he hoped. At the moment, he was way off the radar, and he hoped to keep it that way.

Suddenly, a girl with massive; and I mean MASSIVE boobs appeared, and at one point she seemed normal, cute even! Her mint green hair, strangely revealing outfit, and... Face all showed signs that this could be a potentially normal human girl. Again, the young man's first impression went as far down as it possibly could, as the shaman monk took a quick glance at the dead body she was dragging. 'Oh for ******** sake, there's more than one that like killing other people THAT MUCH...' Instead of grimacing or making any sort of reaction, he leaned forward onto the table, resting his head on his left hand. 'As long as I do not make ANY sort of sudden movements or eye contact, I'll be deemed as not a threat.' The hooded girl introduced herself to the other crazy vixen, and stated her intentions for the apparent "invite" she had sent out to the people who were beginning to gather around her. A dungeon raid; Why did he not think about that? There is so much experience to be gained in a dungeon... Well, it made no difference. The male was a solo adventurer without a party to go take out the boss anyway. The amount of experience, items and other loot that this "party" of the hooded girl would boost their statuses even further, if they were able to take out the boss together. Another problematic situation for him, if they chose to target him. This red guild they were forming in itself was a big problem for solo players, considering they were basically a gang.

More of their "members" approached the girl named Divinity, and for the most part, they seemed a little... Normal, compared to the first two who had gathered. 'Oracle... and.. Vox.' He took his glances, and finally a waitress attended to his needs. 'Well this took long. Hopefully they won't murder you too, pitiful NPC.' He let out a sigh, as the NPC gave its random, preset greeting line as if she were really talking to its guest. Slowly, the monk lifted his finger, and found the list of options they served at this particular store on an interactive menu. Scratching his head, he looked for an item he liked with a flick of his fingers. His brow furrowed in response to not being able to find his coveted root beer on the menu. They all consisted of cheap ales, wines and other "adventurer" related beverages. 'I am seventeen for Christ sake.. What the hell do I look like drinking some cheap a** beer.. Stupid a** game.' The young man pinched the bridge of his nose in irritation, taking a pause from looking at the menu. Perhaps he was not looking hard enough at the screen? Maybe he skipped over the regular drinks that they had? Scrutinizing the list, the young man took great care and caution to look over the list. It was that serious. Slowly flicking his index finger, he had finally found something; It was no root beer, but it was a lemon-lime soda. Of course, the game would not name it Sprite, but it was a version of it. He immediately poked at it, confirming his order. And as he made the last poke, the waitress left, as if she were rushing to get his order. The male waited once more, still trying to listen in on the plans of the Splatter Party under the background noise that the Central Plaza contained.

'I'll just wait for them to vacate. I have to start grinding as much as I can, or get my own raid party...' The young man shook his head at the thought, knowing full well that he had neither the ability, time nor energy to gather himself a team. He also hated working in groups, especially with people he did not even know. Well, he WAS in a guild, with plenty of other people he could possibly party up with. Sighing, he laid back in his chair, and pulled up his character menu. It was about time he distributed some stats...

Almost time anyway, until the woman named Divinity just up and disappeared. The bloodied girl was nowhere to be seen, and any trace of her was gone. Even the blood she had splattered was...gone. Scratching his head, he took the drink he had ordered, and chugged it in a rush. No point in sitting there anymore. He must have spaced out big time, as the "Splatter Party" seemed to have dispersed. The young man scratched his head at the strange phenomenon, and got up from his seat satisfied with his little break. He now had enough information for the time being... 'Its about time I started grinding...'

Aizawa observed the white haired male's reaction as he was being surveyed by his piercing gaze. Such eyes.. the eyes of a killer; whether he meant in game or something much deeper was a mystery, but it was obvious to him that this man was something else from the rest. Once Malavaes took a seat the monk shifted in his seat and moved his hands from the table to his chest where they would rest casually atop of it, fingers still interlaced. He would listen to the man's reply to his question of being inquisitive and was almost taken aback by his response. So.. he had managed to catch a fly in his web? This man's first statement was obvious that of a new player's. As the anomaly of the group further spoke about how they were interesting he couldn't help but notice that he was struggling with something, some form of internal conflict. As much as he tried to hide it, his eyes still showed him everything Aizawa needed to know. Seeing as how Orchid was being quite loud and boisterous some odd distance away while this was taking place, it was only natural for him to put two and two together that he was finding that woman annoying, and that she was pushing a button or two, maybe even more inside of him than he was showing, which became even more evident with the next few words that left his mouth.

"Perhaps, but I don't know. I've never met her before, she is someone Divinity recruited." Speaking of Divinity, Aizawa stole a glance behind him towards the main group of gathered individuals for the upcoming boss raid. It didn't take long for him to find the person responsible for this gathering, and when he saw her he noticed something he didn't when he first arrived, and that was she was currently covered in blood. From what though? Aizawa risked stealing another glance about and looked around at the NPC's running their stalls who seemed to show an emotion that he found they only gave off when someone killed on of their kind. Ahh.. it was so painfully obvious what Divinity had done now. Rolling his eyes to himself he turned back to his companion and swiped at the air to bring up his console where he would scroll all the way down and choose the option "Administrative Playground". He never noticed it before, but it was quite ironic what they named their command panel. Once he was in he typed in a few commands and quickly closed the console, turning to Malavaes with an apologetic look, but it seemed he was too late as his conversation partner was already standing to leave, mumbling something about being sorry which he was confused about.

Nonetheless however since his little date was over he also stood from his seat, but instead of leaving he walked towards Divinity. The command he had put in earlier went into effect as he did so, forcing them into a duel as well as removing the pain limiter on her so that she would indeed die from what was about to be brought upon her from brain signal overload. He would not stand to have his and Lei's world to be filled with such trash as this. There was a limit to how much he was willing to tolerate. Dashing forward he would blur past Orchid and grab the girl covered in red by the back of her head before pulling her face right into his rising knee. Once contact was made and the rather familiar sound of a bone breaking was heard the green haired Monk flipped over the woman and launched a kick right into her lower back which would send her flying across the plaza into a wall to which her body would fall from and hit the dirt motionless for a few brief moments until her figure burst into the familiar shards of light that one would see when killing a monster. However, instead of her returning back alive like everyone else, her existence faded into nothing, the meaningless life of Divinity now at it's end. Now that the duel was over a victory textbox would pop into Aizawa's field of view with the bold word of "VICTORY!" in the center and below was what he had won. A handful of Xing, some basic items and fifty experience points. Tapping the "OK" button on the console he would proceed to close it and then head off after Malavaes; so the chase begins.[exit]

Rin let out a gleeful squee as the first signs of the game appeared in front of her eyes. From the darkness popped up various colors and shapes, forming into various screens that surrounded her. She wasn't even in the game yet. She had just gotten through the registration and login screen and had only just entered character creation. Eagerly, Rin reached out a hand and swiped around at the various options. Hair color, hair style, body proportions, gender, nothing went untouched by the elementary schooler's eager curiosity. There was a sense of urgency in her movement because she knew she wasn't supposed to be online right now. The VR headset and game she was using were both her dad's. Even worse, they had just been delivered to their home this very day. Rin had been sternly told by her father that she was not to touch the VRMMMO at all because she was too young for it, but in a rare breach of her usual behavior, the prospect of a new game overrode her father's stern words. After very slowly and very hesitantly pacing in front of the delivered package and then opening the package and then taking the headset and game out of it and then finally donning the headset, Rin figured just a little bit couldn't hurt. If she finished before her father came back, it would be all okay.

After some initial fumbling in the login screen, Rin had become accustomed to the strange sensation of using her body as the controller. Granted, it still felt weird to be reaching out to the buttons instead of jiggling a control stick to drag a cursor to the wished for icon, but it was a strange, enjoyable kind of weird. Rin literally hopped onto the button to change her avatar's gender to female. Beneath her hands, she felt a solid wall, which she then pushed off of with a laugh. Just bouncing around the creation screen was loads of fun, watching her movements cause a stream of colors and various changes to her surroundings. With a twirl, Rin's outstretched arms caused a rainbow of options to appear, disappear, and change. She could see the results of her handiwork to one side, rather bizarre combination of randomly chosen physical characteristics.

She could also feel those characteristics, which was probably the weirdest thing. This one was harder to enjoy, but it still held with it that strange allure of an unknown sensation, the kind where after feeling something new, the urge to feel it again and again occurs until the sensation was no longer strange. Rin felt herself grow then shrink. Although, it appeared that the options didn't really allow her to shrink much smaller than her natural height. Her hair would be swishy and long one moment then stiff and short the other. She'd have bangs. They'd be pink, then orange, then green, then white, then black, then they won't exist before popping back up with another reckless swipe of the child's arms. Her body would feel thicker at one moment then thinner the next. It felt extremely weird when parts of her body were completely opposite of other parts, like stick arms paired with beefy legs or a short torso paired with long arms.

Sometime during the middle of all this childish madness, Rin had to suffer through complete blackness because of something she didn't understand. A… "Server reboot?". At the time, she tried to imagine what it would be like to "re" a "boot." Did that mean to make a new boot? She wasn’t sure, but that didn't matter. There came a voice, a woman's, after the blackness that Rin listened to carefully. Her first that was that the voice was some sort of a game secret that only popped up after doing something, which she probably did with all the random buttons she had pressed. What the voice was saying sort of sounded like the introduction to some rpg game Rin had played. Kind of but different. She paid careful attention to it just in case it was important. Her mother taught her to pay careful attention to stories in games whenever they were there.

However, Rin was too excited with just character creation to even get into the game before deciding that she had better log off because her father would be home soon. Humming a happy tune at having just spent about an hour very productively in her opinion, the child looked for the little icon that she remembered was the button for the main menu. There had been a "something-something off" option in the main menu. Rin couldn't remember exactly what it was, but it had the word "off" in it so it had to be what she needed to turn off the VR.

The menu popped up but the option Luna recalled was nowhere to be seen. She stared quizzically at the options presented, childishly expecting for the missing option to suddenly appear out of the blue. When she got too impatient for that, in about ten seconds, she closed the main menu and began checking other places. It was a pseudo-systematic search where Rin clicked wherever felt like it looked right, often clicking on some things twice just in case the off option had appeared when she wasn't looking. The main menu, of course, was clicked many times in the course of the search.

When there were no results to be shown for a good three minutes of search, a childish frustration clouded Rin's face. The pout the child expressed was a bizarre expression considering that her avatar, by this point, had overlarge eyes, a freakishly small nose, a seagreen mohawk, and about a dozen piercings. All patience lost, Rin punched whatever button-like thing she could find in the sort of unreasonable hope that one of them would be the magical logout button. Still nothing. Once she had tired herself out, she looked up from her slumped sitting position on the ground.

She was about to scream and throw a tantrum. she wiped her tears and stood up, "M-maybe," her thoughts continued out loud, "Maybe I have to make my character first? Yeah, like how I have to put in a nickname for my monster before I can get back to playing the game, but this is Daddy's account. Umm… I'm in so much trouble…" This wasn't the time to dwell on how much trouble Rin was in, though, and Rin sort of knew that. With much trepidation, the girl started carefully selecting her options now. "I'm in sooooo much trouble," and other similar phrases constantly slipped through Rin's mouths as she carefully considered her options, "Daddy is going to yell at me so much, but I should at least try to not mess up his game."

The first and most obvious step was to make the avatar a male. Done and easily. Everything else after that was hard.

"Race?" the first biggest hurdle for Rin, "Uh… Cats are nice and daddy likes cats too. He yells at our cat a lot, but I know he really loves him, so I'll choose that one race that gets cat ears. Umm… Which one was it again? Sh-something." The first "Sh" option was shaman, and Rin naturally gravitated towards that choice, "Sh-shaman? Okay, I think that was it."

Then the system asked for a class to be selected. With no idea on what to choose, the class option didn't appear to have changed anything when Rin was fiddling around with it, she clicked on the little "tips" button. The game suggested Mage class for shamans, and Rin followed the advice.

With race and class selected, Rin could now freely get into the nitty gritty details of her character's appearance. "First this is," she started, "cat ears. Cat ears. Where are the ears? They're not he? Where are they? Huh? But I thought that shamans…" She returned to the race screen and looked through the list again, "Sh- Sh- Sh-," until she found another race that began with the right sound, "Shifter?". Hoping that this new race was the right one, Rin selected mage again for her class and then resumed her search for cat ears. After digging through the most extensive list of appearance options out of any race, Rin found the cat ears. She also found a cat tail, and decided to put those on as well.

"Cat ears. Cat tail," Rin counted out what she had managed to get done so far. Now she had to just do everything else, including fixing the wacked out appearance her randomness had created. That part was easy, Rin chose one of the premade body builds. She randomly looked at a few more because she wanted to make sure she got the best one for her dad, but in the end, "What's the difference between all of them?". Because the game creators assumed that players wanted their characters to look nice, they had only put in nice-looking options. No surprise Rin couldn't really understand why one body would matter over another. Unable to appreciate the aesthetic difference between a shorter height and a taller height, she settled with whatever premade body she happened to end last on.

Ever so gradually, Rin's mood began to lift. "Body done!" she practically sang as she maneuvered the options to fix up the face. Again, she resorted to premade faces over trying to manually adjust the sliders. "No. No. No," Rin scrolled through the options, showing surprisingly harsh judgement with her face selection. Behind each no were rather specific reasons, . After a rather severe series of elimination rounds, Rin finally settled on a face that reminded her of her cat.

Quite naturally, what followed for the hair and fur color decisions were to also base those off of her cat. It was really easy to do it that way, too. Rin's family's cat was just plain black, so Rin just chose the color black. Done. Really easy. After a celebratory, "Yay!" Rin moved onwards.

By this point, Rin was starting to get very bored with making a character. She had already spent over an hour in this one place after all. She chose the hair style rather flippantly and without much though. Long hair on a guy looked weird to Rin. Ponytails looked to old fashioned, kind of like someone who appeared in those historical dramas. Super short hair looked kind of intimidating and Rin didn't like the idea of her father being intimidating. He was nice and pretty, so she needed to make his avatar look like that. With that in mind, she chose a kind of fluffy but short hairstyle that reminded her of her cat.

Now, Rin was about to choose eye color based on her cat as well. Except she discovered, probably more like rediscovered as no doubt her mindless hour-long button mashing had no doubt created this before, that she could have different colored eyes. This was weird, like the long hair and ponytail hair were, but it was a cool kind of weird. Rin immediately decided that she needed to have different colored eyes. Wait, no, her father needed to have different colored eyes. Right, definitely, mhm. "GOLD!" Rin cheered, "AND!" she reached for another color, "SILVER!" because those two colors were the color of jewelry. "The sun and the moon," Rin sang a tidbit of some nearly forgotten cartoon opening song as she remembered something else cool that was the color of gold and silver. Naturally, she kept on singing in a broken manner, "keep on going higheeeeer," where she hummed the parts she had completely forgotten and made up lines that kind of sounded like they fit for the parts she had almost completely forgotten, "We are the Winx! We are the Winx! Come join the club, we are the Winx!". Rin finished the song with a generic magical girl pose: feet shoulder-width apart, hand in a V-for-victory sign in front of her face, and a wink.

No longer did Rin look like a little girl as she struck a pose that she was kind of sure that characters did something like at the end of the song. She now looked very much like a grown, appropriately muscled man. Like most MMO characters, he looked quite handsome. Rin at least knew what good-looking people looked like. Her dad was considered very handsome by many. Well, pretty to Rin, which meant that Rin thought she looked very pretty right now.

With a twirl, Rin gave herself a once-over to make sure that she looked okay. She wiggled her tail and ears a bit, relishing the very strange sensation of new body parts. Then she sighed. She remembered why she was doing all this in the first place. Her dad must have long been home by now. "I'm in for such a scolding," she bemoaned as she tugged down the front of her shirt.

She had to accept the inevitable, though. Although, Rin didn't think of it like that. More like her thoughts,
Rin moved on to the next and last step of character creation, where the system prompted her for a name. She looked at the prompt for a bit and then the text provided for quite a while. A name? She had learned her mother's habit of just naming herself after whatever the game manual called the main character, but Rin couldn't remember anything like that in the FAO manual. "Let's see," Rin thought aloud, "Let's see. Uh… Mommy would always use her real name whenever there is no name, sooo… Rin!". As she shouted aloud her name, the field for username filled itself in and prompted if Rin was sure. Right before swiping "yes," Rin caught her mistake.

"Uh oh!" she exclaimed, "I almost forgot. This is daddy's character. Then… No! And… Uh… Let's use Sakamoto!". The "no" option for confirmation was selected and the box cleared, only to be refilled with the new suggestion of "Sakamoto," Rin's family name and something that both her dad and her could use. As she confirmed this name, Rin secretly hoped that her dad would let her play in the future.

Rin was oblivious to the cardinal rule of the internet she had broken. She was oblivious to the risk she put herself by revealing her last name. Weakening her anonymity was probably not the worst thing she could have done, but it was still a very obvious thing not to do and Rin didn’t know she wasn't supposed to. Why? Because this was her first time on the internet. She had played many a console and offline game, but she had never been allowed to touch the internet or other form of mass media. Her dad thought she was too young, and he wasn't being overprotective considering Rin was only seven.

What had been done was done. Using her last name as her screen name, Rin finally set digitized into the world of FAO after well over an hour and a half in character creation. By now, everything had already tentatively settled. People were bustling everywhere in the City of Beginnings, but most had accepted their fate, a fate that Rin had happened to miss out on hearing.

Rin gave herself only a moment of awe at this new world before quickly going, "Oh no! Daddy! Log out! Log out!". She looked around frantically for some sort of menu option, her arms swinging around rather awkwardly. Eventually, a downwards stroke pulled up the menu and Rin knew what to do from there.

Rather, she thought she did. There was no way to log off in this menu either. Rin stared blankly at the screen. The calm before the storm because she very quickly started frantically pressing every other option on it. There were whispered glances at the strange sight of a grown man freaking out when everyone else had already accepted the inevitable.

Rin was stuck. She had to admit she was stuck, so that meant she had to do something to get unstuck. In games, remembering what had been already done helped. Were there any clues in the past? Rin thought and thought.

She continued to think and think, straining every fiber of her mind that she could, until she remembered that one moment of darkness during her initial character creation frenzy. The woman's voice had said that log out was no longer possible and that the player was now trapped in the game. It sounded like the beginning of a certain rpg Rin remembered playing, but that rpg had let Rin turn off the game. Only the character she was playing could leave. Did this game force the player to stay in the game just like the character? Rin didn't know, and in her desperation she crouched and whimpered, "Rin doesn't know. Rin doesn't know," her sentences degrading to using the third person in her frightened confusion.

People jostled around her huddled form. Some looking at the strange sight but no one who was actually cared enough to help what appeared to be a grown man having a break down in the middle of the beginner's plaza. Even when Rin hugged herself and began rocking back and forth, she got no sympathy. Instead, there were whispered sneers and insults. Thankfully, none of which Rin noticed.

She couldn't cry forever, though, and she did indeed begin crying at one point. As the day wore on into night, Rin looked up from her knees at the now slightly thinner crowd. "They're all like me?" Rin thought out loud, remembering what she had read in the manual about how mmos were different from offline games in that they allow for the player to interact with other players. "Are they stuck like me?" Rin's questions continued, "Daddy is going to be so angry, isn't he? I want to see Daddy… and my little brother… Mommy… help me." Her face returned to her knees. "Mommy. Mommy," Rin muttered as she began to cry again, "Mommy, what should Rin do?". "If it was Mommy," Rin slowly adapted in her own way, "Mommy would know what to do. Mommy was always good at video games," she garnered courage from the memory of her deceased mommy, "So Mommy wouldn't be afraid like Rin is. Mommy would just finish the game and get out. That's what… That's what I should do, right?".

The tears had stopped again, but this time, they had really stopped. Still sniffling, Rin stood shakily up. She was stuck here, but she wasn't going to let that bring her down for forever. Rather, she couldn't. She was too young to be constantly depressed and she needed to go back home so she could take care of her little brother and help her father around the house. Besides, her malleable mind was already adapting to the situation. She couldn't get out, but that didn't mean that she could no longer enjoy this game.

She could play the game, definitely. She remembered she had some xing, which she already remembered was the currency of the world. If she already had some, that meant she should try and buy something with it, especially since she wasn't given anything to start with like in an rpg. Then, after that, she knew she had a level. She had to raise that level by killing monsters and quests. So equipment than trying to find quests then killing monsters after quests. She could do it. She was kind of bad at games sometimes but she was also good at them in other ways. What mattered now was that she had a plan.

Ready to face the world now, Sakamoto put her best foot forward with a smile.
"Let's play."

"Well s**t" a cruel grin rose across Sin's face as the announcement of the faceless women had finally finished. Stuck in this game like that one she had heard of from years ago. The story had been all over the new's when it had occurred, but she had never even thought it would happen AGAIN, or to her for that matter. She'd liked this game, getting her urges out virtually instead of in reality. Yeah she had to kill more players then she would hurt in reality, and then theirs the fact because she showed up to people as a red player they knew to beware of her. Now however after the reset and everything going to default her red marker was once again green like it should be no one will know to beware of her. Speaking of a reset, Sin opened up her inventory and let out an annoyed groan, everything was gone!

Shaking her head, Sin closed the inventory box and turned to walk towards the small shop area near the spawn. She only had 100 xing and bought a set of armour and 2 teleport crystals which cost her 70 xing. After leaving the shop she clicked her tongue as she checked how much money she had left, only 30 xing. As she exited the shop she wasnt really paying attention as she collided with a tall buff guy with a scar straight down his face. "Watch it punk" he grunted and snorts as his friends laughed at his rather rude behaviour. Sin, rather used to this sort of thing just nods her head and tries to walk around the burly fellow until he grips her arm and smiles at her, "What cat got your tongue". Looking down at her feet Sin frowns and glares at the man holding her arm. "Dont TOUCH me" yanking back her arm she whips her head up at him and snarls, "Touch me again and I swear ill gut you, and your friends with my bare hands, and I mean here and in rl. Got it? Oh and one more thing, it I see you again ill rip out your tongue" when the guy and his friends went quiet, Sin smirked and tilts her head to the side, " What, cat got you tongue? Pff" Whipping around she walks away from the group of astonished males. Letting a sigh escape her mouth she walked over to a bench and sat down, watching the other users scramble around. She should start up looking for a way to rank up again but her focus was sort of shifted towards watching the others freaking out. Would they really be stuck here for long? Where the hackers among them as the message was being played? Well that's all questions Sin knows she cant answer just sitting here doing nothing. So she stands and wipes her hands on her shorts. Looking around she decided to open her quest log and look at the weekly quest to start off with. She double tapes the quest for those level four and under and smirks. "This one looks almost too easy" selecting the quest Sin reached above her head in a stretch and then bent over to touch her toes before she walks off towards Town of Elurik [exit].

"Ah ah. Oh oh," Sakamoto walked through the city semi-lost, "Hi hi. Ha ha." She coughed to clear her throat and then tried out her voice again, "Ah ah. Oh oh," Again, the same, strange voice came out of her own throat. Er, well, came out of her game throat. Virtual reality confused the girl. Either way, whenever she tried to speak, she spoke with an unfamiliar voice, one much lower than her usual voice. Sakamoto didn't know it, but she had accidentally skipped one of the customization options in the character creation screen. To be exact, she had forgotten to adjust the voice options. Because of her choice to play a gender opposite of her natural gender, the game had given her a random synthesized voice by default, and the strange pitch that she was now singing, "Row, row, row boat. Gently down the sea," was her new voice. It sounded strange to Sakamoto: very human but there was something off about it. Screechy? Like a bad radio? Except it wasn't half that bad. Just to check, she paused in her walk to the next quest marker and waved her arms around jerkily as she sang, "Domo Arigato. Mr. Roboto." she thought, a finger pressed up to her mouth in an inquisitive gesture, Either way, the seven year old didn't know quite how to explain what her new voice sounded like. If she had been about ten years older and old enough to freely browse the internet, she would have probably recognized it as being extremely similar to the sound bank of a certain electronic singing program.

As Sakamoto turned a corner, the NPC for the next quest came into view, and that was that for her pondering on the mysteries of her voice. "Miss!" Sakamoto yelled out a greeting as she ran the last few yards to the npc, her mind already accustomed to the longer strides the fully grown legs of her FAO avatar made, "A quest please!".
The NPC turned towards the PC sobbing and the conversation began, "Please! Help me! My daughter was kidnapped! It must have been elven warriors from the Labyrinth. Please! Save her!".
"Oh no!" Sakamoto gasped, getting into the role of her character, "That's terrible! Don't worry! I'll go save her."
A "Quest Accepted!" notice flashed above the head of the npc, replacing the quest marker that had been there previously, as the NPC spoke her scripted lines, "Thank you! Thank you so much! Please, bring her back safely!".

After a few seconds, the notice faded and was replaced by a quest pending symbol. Sakamoto said a brief farewell, "Don't worry. I'll bring her back safe and sound!" as she turned and began looking for the location of the next quest she could gather in the city. She liked going through the roleplaying aspect of games, but she had gone through enough to not just know but even get accustomed to taking advantage of how she could take as long as she wanted to complete even the most urgent sounding quests. A good thing for Sakamoto, too, as trying to find the quests alone was a task that she found extremely difficult.

So many people and the city was so big too. Sakamoto had never played a game with such a big city, and the first person view was so disorienting she had actually felt a bit dizzy when she first entered the game world. The character creation screen had looked nothing like the real world, so she didn't feel the disconnect. However, this game world looked so real and yet everything was so much shorter and off in other ways. It was weeeiiird, especially since most games Sakamoto played took on some variation of a bird's eye view, or if they didn't, then it was just a side-scroller with either no or very limited depth mechanics. That wasn't why finding quests was so difficult, though. With only the ability to see in front of her and no sort of map to help her, Sakamoto found herself lost more times than she could count. How was she supposed to know if the quest giver she needed was actually in another row of buildings altogether if she couldn't see from a bird's eye view? It was so confusing and Sakamoto would have complained but everywhere she went was crowded with people and she didn't want to be a bother to anyone. She wanted to be a good girl and not make any unnecessary disturbances, so she just quietly walked into the same dead end repeatedly until she could finally get to where she wanted. One step at a time. Just one step. As long as it was a step, she was going somewhere, and if she was going somewhere, even if it was the wrong somewhere, then she was bound to eventually get to the somewhere she wanted.

Just barely in time, Sakamoto managed to find all the quests in the town. Towards dusk, just as she was about to give up, she finally bothered to analyze a notice board she had passed about ten times throughout the course of the day. "WHAAAAT?!" she shouted in astonishment as she read the board. Here were all the quests she had managed to find plus all the quests that she was looking for, so she didn't have to go walking all around town getting lost and everything. Unable to take it anymore, the girl in a grown man's body pouted. Her face scrunched up as she shouted, "NOT FAIR. NOT FAIR! THIS IS NOT FAIR!" her feet stomped in the manner typical to a tantrum, "I LOOKED ALL OVER TOWN AND HAD TO FIND THEM BUT THEY WERE HERE?! NOT FAIR. NOT FAIR. NOT FAIR. NO! NO! NO!" People turned to look at her, but then just looked away and ignored the noob. Most of them thought that Sakamoto was just some 11 year old boy, the stereotypical kid that gives a bad rap to first person shooters.

Left to her own devices, Sakamoto managed to calm down after a few minutes. Honestly, the tantrum was a rare thing for Sakamoto to do. She was usually quiet and mature for her age, largely because since the death of her mom, she had to learn that she didn't have a mom to comfort her like other kids did. Then again, this day was anything but normal for Sakamoto. She was hungry and tired and in need of an adult for hours already. Throwing the tantrum didn't help, as all it did was highlight the fact that now instead of having only a very busy adult, be it her dad or teacher, to help her, there was no one willing to step up and comfort her when she needed it.

Exhausted, she accepted the last of the quests the beginner's city had to offer her and then looked around at the almost empty street. After spending hours scouring the whole town for quests and then throwing a tantrum just then, Sakamoto had started feeling sleepy, but she had nowhere to sleep in the game world. Where was home? Did she even need to sleep? Sleeping wasn't something in most games, and in the few where it played a part, it was just to heal, something that Sakamoto didn't yet need. Not knowing what else to do, she decided to plow on. She would make some place called Liar or something her first destination.
