He snorted. "Thanks for the heads up, goofball," said Chance, reaching to ruffle Otto's hair.
He hadn't brought the incident at the club up to make any real point except that he'd been very grateful that his previous encounter was overshadowed now by something much better. Chance smiled a little and wrapped one soapy arm around Otto's shoulders, bending to kiss his cheek affectionately.
"It is," he said, and then let go and gave Otto a playful nudge.
"Now let's hurry up and finish up so we can go do something."

"Tch. Always rushin' me." Otto retorted, turning to get himself washed off. "Maybe if Mr. Chatty wasn't distractin' me I'd be done." Not that he actually minded. As usual. Eventually he did finish up, turning off the shower and grabbing a towel. "I don't think we decided what we wanted to do yet, anyway."

"Only because I like to see you get grumpy," said Chance cheerily. "And don't lie, you love it when I distract you."
He borrowed one of Otto's towels and rubbed at his face, shaking his wet hair while still inside the shower so he didn't drip all over the floor. "I don't think so either. Did you have any ideas?" Chance asked, voice a little muffled. He lowered the towel dried off his arms and legs.
"I have a possible idea, but it would have to wait until nightfall. Before then, there's the pool, there's the beach - oh, but that's outside, never mind, it's too hot. The bar, the kitchens. We can sneak in and make desserts. Get some marshmallows and some pvc pipe and have ourselves a marshmallow fight," Chance teased.

"I'll lie all I want." He replied back easily. Which was a stubborn way of admitting that yes, he did like the distractions. "If I had an idea, I'd have said sumthin'." He murmured, drying himself off. Otto's first guess of Chance's idea was an easy one; star gazing. It was the only night time activity he could think of, really. "I read on twitter that the pool's got a piranha problem." Probably the trainee pool, but the full hunter one was a long walk. Not worth it. He'd never had to think so hard on how to spend his time before. Maybe because their outings and activities had all been spur of the moment thus far. Now, he was looking for ways to keep hanging around with Chance. "It doesn't really matter what it is, I guess. I just wanna hang out with you, is all." He admitted a little more honestly, letting the towel hang over his shoulders as he pulled on his underwear and track pants.

It was kind of stargazing, but that was only part of it. Chance made a slightly horrified expression as he tugged on a pair of clean sweats and a large white shirt with a giant black star emblazoned across the front. "I sincerely hope no one tries to go swimming in a piranha infested pool..."
He ran his fingers through his damp hair and then looked over at Otto, expression softening. Chance padded over and picked up the ends of Otto's towel, winding them around his hands to tug him a little closer.
"Me too," he said, with an affectionate smile. "I kinda dig the making desserts idea, we could have some for later. Or, you know, we can always just sit together and relax if you don't want to do a whole lot of standing or moving around."

Otto staggered forward slightly as he was tugged closer, his sharp eyes lifting to properly meet the taller man's. "Um.. I don't really like cooking.. or baking." So it would've been more of a chore than an activity for Otto. Not that he disliked the idea of sweets. Dessert was the best meal. "If you don't mind sittin' around." He murmured, eyes averting to the side. "Usually on a nice day I like skateboarding 'n stuff, but it's too hot." And he was feeling uncharacteristically lazy that day. All his energy was still building up in reserve. He might have suggested a day at the gym, but again. Moving. "I got a new CD I wanted to listen to. We can just kill time till it gets dark." It would be difficult, seeing as the day only just began.

He laughed a little. "I know you don't," said Chance with a smile. "One day I'll cook for you, then, and you won't have to lift a finger. It'll be my treat."
Otto was doing that thing again where he averted his eyes out of what was probably a mixture of embarrassment and shyness. Chance found it endearing at times, though there were occasions when he redirected Otto's gaze back to his, mostly out of necessity.
"I don't mind sitting around," said Chance lightly. "You can play your game thing if you want - " because he had no idea what the PSP was even called. " - we can listen to music and relax. If you want to do something else halfway through, we can do that too."
He shifted his head to meet Otto's gaze and pull it back into focus.
"Whatever you feel up to doing, okay?" said Chance gently. "There aren't any specific guidelines you have to meet, remember?"
He bent his head and pressed his lips softly to Otto's.
"Don't feel the need to entertain me," Chance said reassuringly as he pulled back. "I just like being around you."

Nerves that he hadn't realized had been making him anxious and too self aware ebbed away. He let out a breath after the soft kiss reassured him, along with Chance's words. He leaned forward, pressing his forehead against the man's shoulder. "Thanks." He murmured. He tended to forget Chance didn't mind, worried over every little thing. What was he thinking? Was he annoyed? Was he bored? What did he want? He hated getting so worked up about it, even though he really ought to know better. Nothing to worry about. Just go on as normal, he reminded himself.

He lifted a hand and smoothed it over Otto's hair while his other found one of Otto's, Chance lacing their fingers together so he could give them a reassuring squeeze. Head bent, he pressed a kiss to the top of his head, brief and affectionate.
"Just be yourself," Chance murmured. "And remember that I like you for you."
He gave Otto's hand one more squeeze before he let go and wrapped both arms around his shoulders, pulling him into a hug.
"Things have changed a little, maybe," said Chance into Otto's hair. "Like the fact that I'm your boyfriend, and you're mine. Or everything else that we talked about last night. But the fact remains that I don't want you to feel obligated to fulfill some standard, okay? I just want you to do what's normal for you, and I'll fall alongside."
He smiled a little. "I've already, hopefully, managed to carve out a little niche for myself in your life, and I like it here."

Otto hugged back, finding he needed a bit of reassurance now and then, when doubt crept about as it tended to do. He just liked Chance so much. It was hard not to feel a little bit antsy, even though he always felt comfortable with him. He gave a soft nod against his shoulder, letting his bout of worries fall. "Mmkay." Chance said he himself he liked it here, no matter what they did. So it was fine. "Music and the PSP then.." And Chance, he figured would follow along. Maybe he'd read. Maybe he'd watch. It was up to him, and Otto allowed himself the room to breathe.

He felt the nod, and Chance leaned back, his arms sliding back, hands resting on Otto's shoulders. He knew the anxiety was still there, in spite of everything, but taking the time to ease into this would take some time, and Chance was entirely willing to take as much time as they both needed.
"Music and PSP it is, and I can sit with you and read," said Chance, and brought his hands up to either side of Otto's face, pressing a last kiss to his lips, lingering and gentle.
"We'll figure this out, you and I," he murmured. "Okay? We'll figure us out."

Chance had something Otto severely lacked; patience. It was a trait in Chance he actually admired a lot. Especially when it came to the way he easily rode out Otto's tendency toward insecurity, doubt and other troublesome personality traits. At the very least, he didn't feel like a burden. For now. And at most, it gave Otto time to fix his problems without fear. Otto's eyes closed, letting that soft and gentle kiss linger as long as Chance held it. He allowed it to let his mind go blank, if only for a moment. "Okay." Right. This sort of thing, having a relationship.. it was a partnership. They'd work on stuff like this as a team. He didn't have to be tough as nails to make up for a lack of height or confidence, or be strong when things were uncertain, or always knowing the right path to take. He let out a breath, grasping the hands on his face with his fingers and giving a squeeze. He wanted Chance as his boyfriend because he liked him a lot. And Chance accepted because he liked him back. There was no need to feel insecure. And really, despite the bumps and crashes from previous attempts at having a significant other, he still really did enjoy it. It always seemed as if everyone else on the island found 'the one' on the first try, making Otto feel like he was some kind of hermit crab, scuttling like a scoundrel from one person to the next. He sincerely hoped he wasn't truly like that. Because he needed to, wanted to, he leaned up to take one more kiss for himself. "C'mon. Let's be couch potatoes for the day." He had snacks in the cupboard and cold drinks in the fridge. "When it ain't so hot, let's go see if the Town has anythin' cool like a basketball court."

To anyone else, it might have seemed a strange relationship, but to Chance - and hopefully to Otto as well - it worked in a way that benefited them both the way relationships should. Chance's patience and calm demeanor balanced out Otto's anxiety and impatience. They seemed to fit together, and Chance liked it - liked Otto - very, very much.
His thumbs smoothed over his boyfriend's cheeks affectionately, feeling Otto's fingers warm and secure over his own. The extra kiss had Chance's eyes fluttering shut in pleasure, and he hummed out a sound of happiness against Otto's lips.
"I'm down for that," said Chance with a smile. He kissed Otto's forehead and then let go, fingers trailing down the side of his neck in a tender gesture. "You get the snacks, I'll get the pillows, and I'll meet you back at the couch."
He let go, finally, and padded out into the living room.
"I used to play basketball with some of the boys in the home," said Chance, flopping down and stretching his legs out to the side. "I'm pretty sure everyone only picked me for their team because of my height. Alas, I wasn't very good."

Otto felt better, having actually talked it out rather than stewing in his tension. He was excited to sit with Chance without doing much else. Enjoying his company without feeling he had to do something with him. Grabbing his shirt (the second time that day he'd forgotten to put it on), he pulled it on and padded out into the kitchen. "Be grateful you had height. I had to climb the counter to reach the higher shelves at home up till I was fifteen." Otto bemoaned with a small trace of amusement in his tone. "We had a net in my backyard, but I only ever got to play it with other people a couple times. I was home schooled, but for like, two or three months my parents had me enrolled in an actual High School in the next town over. That's the only time I ever had a gym class." He poured an entire bowl of Doritos for them, and a small bowl of Skittles. Healthy snacking was not in Otto's repertoire of understanding. Drinks were set down as well onto the coffee table before Otto flopped into a stack of pillows, with his game in hand. "I had to leave cause I got expelled for throwing a desk at a teacher."

It was the nice thing, about this, Chance decided. There was no need to try and entertain each other; the level of comfort didn't stem from what they were doing, it stemmed from simply being in the same space as each other, whether doing things together or separate.
He tried very hard not to laugh.
"Yes, but height isn't always great," said Chance with a grin as Otto came back into the room, snacks in hand. "I kept bumping into doorframes and knocking myself silly, which was ridiculous of me."
He reached for the Doritos and arched a brow, Chance rolling off the couch to examine Otto's bookshelves.
"And why, pray tell, were you throwing a desk in the first place?"
