Skye & Quil & Zahra

Skye’s ears twitched as she regarded the broken piece of pottery in Zahra’s hands. It had become weakened and brittle after all that time in the dirt. It was no wonder that is had broken, with how impatiently Zahra had been digging around it. She could never say that aloud, looking now at the shame and embarrassment on the Togetic’s face, but the thought seemed to linger all the same.

”I think we need to slow down a little. We need to make sure we’re not damaging anything when we’re digging up artifacts,” she suggested tactfully, trying not to place blame on anyone. Zahra looked like she could use some reassurance right now, although she wasn’t entirely sure how to give it.

Zahra stiffened, glaring at Skye. ”Yeah, because I definitely intended to damage things when I was working.” Her voice was rough and filled with frustration. She hadn’t intended to break it- far from it. Still, she knew that she’d managed to do just that, and all the dancing around the issue wasn’t going to lift her out of her bad mood. ”Look, I know you’re my captain and all, but could you just shove off for a bit? I know how to do this. It’s called a mistake.”

Skye blinked in surprise, having not expected to receive such a grouchy response. Zahra was normally quite docile, as impatient and eager as she was. She flattened her ears submissively, feeling sorry that she’s spoken at all. Zahra was only speaking out of frustration- she knew that. Still, it hurt to be scolded. ”I’m sorry. I’ll leave you to what you’re doing.”

The Togetic didn’t answer, her feathers puffed indignantly as the Espeon left to rejoin Quil several feet away. She kicked childishly at the dirt, and fluttered a little further away to start fresh on a new dig site. She wasn’t really in the mood to keep working.

”Skye?” Quil questioned softly, his tiny voice inaudible to their friend. The little Joltik blinked in confusion, having only just clued in to the conversation. He stared up at his Espeon captain, who regarded him with a somewhat bothered expression.

”It’s fine, Quil. Don’t worry about it,” she told him quietly, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she went back to work. She could remedy things with Zahra later.

Ghost & Atius

Atius floated a little lower to meet the Paras’ gaze, his harsh orange eyes seeming to stare straight through the little bug. There was a deep, metallic hum that seemed to answer Erinn’s words, and Atius finally spoke. ”I will assist your friend,” he answered. His voice was not as comforting as it would have been in conversation with Ghost, but he still understood the need not to startle the timid Pokemon. There were many fearful guild members, so it seemed. He refused to play bodyguard to all of them.

The shiny Metang levitated back above the Paras, and made his way calmly toward the struggling Shelgon. His path varied a little, as the differing levels of metals and ore in the ground shifted his magnetic field, but he managed to make his movement appear intentional. He would have to practice adjusting his magnetic field to suit his environment.

As he reached the Shelgon, he lowered himself over the Dragon-type and fixed his sharp claws on either side of her massive shell. It would look a little peculiar, and perhaps a little terrifying to the watching Paras, but the deadly weapons he bore were carefully arranged not to injure the Shelgon in the slightest. Then again, not much could scratch through a shell as thick as hers. She was heavy, he soon discovered, and an additional pulse of magnetic energy was necessary to lift her out of the hole she’d fallen into.

The pulse did the trick, and both Pokemon were lifted smoothly into the air. At the same time, something metallic popped directly out of the hole he’d pulled her from. The soil had been loosened by the movement of her heavy shell, and it had freed a small piece of metal armor from the ground.

It was strange, at least in the fact that he could not identify where the rest of the suit was.

He promptly dropped the Shelgon onto solid ground, not particularly caring if she found her footing. As long as she didn’t roll into another hole in the ground, he cared very little. ”My deed is done, little bug. Mind that she does not get herself stuck again,” he commanded, floating higher off the ground to avoid further magnetic… incidents.

Then, he made his way back toward their supervisors. He would have to return with his accidental find. Besides, he knew neither Pokemon. As long as they did not disturb Ghost, he would take only momentary interest in them.

Ghost, on the other hand, was still digging across the excavation site. She hadn't noticed the ordeal of the Shelgon nearby, nor the action her partner had taken. For now, she was just enjoying the opportunity to play in the dust and soil.

Keiran

Keiran curled his paw around something solid and smooth, feeling the distinctive texture of pottery under his touch. He brushed away the dirt, trying to clear the top of the object and get a better look at what he’d found.

He made short work of the dirt around it, brushing it aside with a cautious mixture of aura and claws. The urn was then carefully pried from the earth. It had been stained in beautifully intricate patterns and a complimentary pattern was carved into the sides and neck by what seemed to be a very small, sharp tool. It was quite lovely, though a bit extravagant for his tastes. He was sure that Riley would either use it as a part of an escape act, or else fill it to the brim with baking flour.

He still hadn’t gotten the taste of flour from his mouth, even with all the hot dust and dirt that had been blowing around the dig site.

The Riolu cautiously hoisted the urn over his shoulder and gripped it tightly in his paws to hold it still. He could not let it fall, especially not as he crossed the dig site.

He was on the way back when he felt a flash of a familiar, nervous-feeling aura. He stopped dead in his tracks, twisting to identify the source of it. Surely Erinn of all Pokemon hadn’t come back to the guilds? And yet, there he was. Keiran spotted the little Paras several feet away, near a very tempermental-looking Shelgon and a rather bored Metang. The Metang floated off, leaving the former two alone, and an easy way for Keiran to join the group.

”Erinn!” he called cheerfully, excited to see another friend in their midst. The Riolu rushed to greet them, his tail wagging.

Air

Air stared back at the Bronzor in silence for a long time, waiting for the other Pokemon to react to his apologies. He had blinked, so he was definitely awake now, but he wasn't doing much more than staring. "I'm sorry," the Ditto-Growlithe said again, tail between his legs as he awaited the scolding he was bound to receive, but it never came. Instead, the Bronzor shifted his position, moving a little closer and turning toward him, before the voice echoed in his head, mechanized but understanding.

It took a minute for Air to process that he wasn't be reprimanded at all, flinching at the sound of the telepathy at first, but gradually widening his eyes when he processed the Bronzor's words. "You-You're not..." he said, disbelieving at first, but gradually brightening considerably. "Oh thank you!" he yipped, tail raising up wagging gently. "It must be awfully difficult for you to be here, yeah..." He said, tilting his head to the side curiously. "You seem like you handle it pretty well though. I overreacted a bit, because I didn't want to keep making that sound and disrupting everyone." The Ditto-Growlithe smiled sheepishly, "Sometimes a form I've never tried before catches me off guard, and normally I enjoy it, but not when it's going to cause anyone trouble." A Growlithe was easy and familiar, the only trouble was he couldn't return the Bronzor's telepathy in kind; he'd been speaking quietly though, so they wouldn't be overheard over any real distance, since it seemed like his companion was deliberately ignoring the Dunsparce that was staring them down. Air did his best not to look at the Normal Type, since the way the other Pokemon stared made him feel uncomfortable, and looked down at the ground instead. With a gasp, the Ditto-Growlithe spotted the edge of something gold and quickly dug it out, placing it beside his rod before looking back up to the Bronzor with a smile: it was a candlestick, ornately crafted and gently gleaming in the sunlight.

Air was about to introduce himself to his Bronzor companion, when a voice startled him from behind; turning, he found the Growlithe whose form he'd assumed had approached him, and was watching him intently, the Sawsbuck he was with had come a bit closer also, but she hadn't said anything. The Ditto-Growlithe dipped his head modestly at his original's praise, surprised to receive such a pleasant reaction. "No need to apologize," he said, wagging his tail in a friendly manner. It made him happy to be praised for his mimicry, especially when an original complimented his accuracy. "Truth be told anything works for most of us," he said, responding thoughtfully. "We take on whatever gender the Pokemon we copy has. I can't think of anyone who would be offended by any sort of title. Normally we just go by our names. Mine's Air." It was difficult to say whether Air had a gender in his normal form, but he did maintain the tenor-like masculine version of his voice when formless; right now, however, he kept to the Growlithe form, not wanting to change out of it just yet. "Who might you be?" he said generally, directing the question at the Growlithe and his companion but turning his gaze on the Bronzor afterward. He liked these Pokemon, they all seemed so well-meaning; maybe they could be friends.

Erinn

Erinn balked under the Metang's scrutiny, doing his best to stand his ground against the Pokemon's piercing eyes. It felt like he was being judged for some sort of crime that he hadn't committed, and he shifted uneasily when the dual type began to hum, hopefully processing his request. "O-Oh! Thank you!" the Paras chirped when the larger Pokemon consented, feeling a wave of relief, immediately followed by a surge of panic. "Oh, but, she's not really my friend. I don't even know her, I just figured she...needed help..." It became very clear that the Metang wasn't listening when he began moving toward the Shelgon in question without another word, and Erinn trailed off into a quiet mumble, scuttling after the Metang, feeling slightly dejected from the realization that the other Pokemon clearly wanted as little to do with him as possible.

The Paras watched the Shelgon's extraction process with wide eyes, cringing a bit at the sight of the Metang's claws digging into her shell. It was likely that she couldn't feel any of it, but he couldn't help looking away nonetheless. He'd just been expecting the Metang to help him push at her until she turned over, but it seemed that his participation was unnecessary when the dual type plucked the Dragon from the ground seemingly effortlessly, dropping her unceremoniously to the ground. With a brief parting instruction, the Metang headed off again, barely leaving Erinn the chance to stammer a "Th-Thank you!" at his receding form. It troubled him that the dual type seemed so apathetic toward the situation, but maybe he just had other things on his mind.

When the Metang hovered past him, Erinn was startled by a metal object that came flying toward them, reaching up a claw to snatch it from the air before it could continue its collision course for the metallic Pokemon's body. It was a metal charm of some sort, with an engraving of Cresselia on it: apparently intended to give the wearer good dreams. It was too late to offer it to the Metang though, so the Paras held onto it, figuring he may as well turn it in. Looking over at the Shelgon, who had hopefully managed to steady herself by now, he smiled tentatively. "Sorry it took a minute," he said. "I'm just glad he agreed to lend a hand."

Perhaps the Paras would have said more, since the Shelgon's nature was as-of-yet unknown to him, but his thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice. "Keiran?" the bug said, hardly able to believe his eyes as he turned to spot the dark Riolu running toward him delightedly. "By the Legends, what are you doing here?" He and Keiran had been together quite a lot over the years, since they were the pair that stayed behind when so many of the others had chosen to wander; he'd left a few months prior though, to seek out some of the others who might be interested in rejoining after Era had turned him down immediately. He'd went to find Sereni and Eon after that, and when they'd both refused his offer he'd come here alone, believing that none of his other former teammates were interested. Seeing Keiran here, at a Guild sponsored event, could only mean one thing. A nervous smile settled over his features as he wondered if the Riolu would be mad at him for not telling him where he'd gone, or if he'd be reprimanded for joining a new Team. At the same time his feelings of guilt were countered by an immense joy at seeing a familiar face, and he desperately wanted to explain the whole thing to Keiran and beg for him to understand. "I, um, ah..." he stammered, trying to think of the right thing to say. "It's good to see you," he said finally, his glossy eyes overwhelmed with emotion.

Kent's tail began to wag as Air began to explain about how a ditto's gender worked. He found it to be fascinating. The thought of being able to take on either gender during a transformation boggled the mind. He was curious as to how it worked, but it would be rude to ask. For now, he was happy that he was getting the opportunity to make friends in the guild outside of his own team. "My name is Kennet, but I go by Kent for short. It's a pleasure to meet you Air."

Keivera came and stood behind Kent as he made is introduction. Then, when he had finished she dipped her head in greeting before introducing herself. "And I am Keivera. By title, I am the captain of the team." She turned her head to look for Arlyn then realized that the mouse had disappeared back down into the hole he had been working in. He was forever rude when meeting new pokemon. Eventually she was going to break him of that, but now was not the time to sass him about it. She looked back to Air then gestured to the hole she had previously been looking at. "The last member of our team is Arlyn, the Marill you saw earlier. He's...." she paused to choose her words carefully, "distracted at the moment. I apologize."

Arlyn wasn't actually distracted. He simply didn't feel like being social. For him, this was still a little too early in the day. He had gotten better about his sleep schedule since the guild's first meeting, however, he still wasn't quite used to getting up before noon. He'd have preferred to be teleported to the digsite later than everyone else instead of first thing this morning. He didn't mind the work so much, it was just the hour at which they had started. Then, his thoughts were interrupted as his small pic his something solid. Immediately, he stopped. He didn't want to end up breaking yet another artifact. Carefully he began moving the dirt with his tiny paws and uncovered some kind of pendant.

The Metang that had hoisted her out of the hole had dropped her carelessly onto the ground. Thankfully, the same thickness that had protected her from the Metang's claws also cushioned her when dropped. By the time she had rolled over and had begun to get to her feet the little Paras that had gone to get help came rushing over her to check on her. She could tell by his stammering that he was a very timid pokemon."Yeah yeah. It wouldn't have been needed if my good-for-nothing partner was around like he's supposed to be, but thanks anyway," she snapped. Her "thanks" wasn't very sincere. She was angry with Morty and more concerned with finding the useless Houndour than playing nice with her "rescuer." The Paras was too timid for her tastes. She began turning circles looking for Mortimer as she muttered to herself. "Where is that good-for-nothing mutt...when I get my claws on him...he'll wish he'd never been born...stupid dog..." She wasn't trying to hide her displeasure at all. Then, as the Riolu interjected and ran to greet the Paras, she took the opportunity to slip away without bothering with a good bye. She was going to look for her partner and see what his pathetic excuse for leaving his job to someone else was.

The unsuspecting Mortimer had just dropped off his previous find and was on his way back up the hill when he spotted Viper headed straight for him. This was not going to be pretty. He could tell she was pissed. Apparently her stay in the hole had done nothing to change her oh-so-wonderful disposition. He could feel her eyes throwing daggers at him. However, they missed their mark as he really didn't care what she thought. He was getting really tired of her attitude. One of these days he was going to end up loosing his temper, but now was not the time. For now, he'd take the tongue lashing he was about to receive and pretend he hadn't heard her. She would never know he wasn't telling the truth, or so he thought.

My partner and I found something we believe your team should take a look at. I don't believe it can be moved. It looks like some sort of Altar. Would you like to examine it now or later? If later then we can go ahead and keep digging, but I wanted to ask first." He listened as he was told that they would be out later to look at the find before nodding in understanding and heading back to his partner.

Katherine & Arturius & Ty
Points: -7

Katherine absentmindedly patted Rush. This... all of this was grating on her a bit. But at least now she could simply... lie here in the warm sun. That was worth something. Arturius was not entirely dissimilar, if only by virtue of the fact that he was being held onto by Q and that he couldn't actually do anything.

Donovan & Theodore
Points: 8

Sooner, rather than later. Theodore's spade went through the dirt slowly but surely. He was tired. He was interested in going home and sleeping. But he was working and he was working well; or as well as you could expect anyways. The slight bounce of his spade was met with an investigation that unearthed a small and very obviously old coin. It was small but it was something and that was really all that mattered.

Robin
Jessica & Tobias
Points: 2

Jessica's hand slipped into one of her pouches and pulled out a simply pair of metal rods. To anyone familiar with the tools it was clear enough that they were lockpicks. She carefully inserted them into the lock and began her work. It was a series of slow clicks and wiggles but eventually there was a solid thunk and the box opened up. She carefully pulled the lid open to find...

Nothing. It was empty inside. Whatever was once there had long since been removed.

It was a little disappointing.

----------Barcel & Arty

Barcel patiently watched the sun crawl across the sky. Digging wasn't his job. His job was watching everyone else dig and make sure they didn't do anything stupid which, thankfully, none of them did. Enthusiasm varied between ecstatic and chilly but that didn't really matter. Most of them were kids and enough of them were working hard enough to pick up the slack.
Eventually, the combined efforts of the guild had unearthed just about everything there was on the island. The earth had been dug and torn to bits and it was this in mind that Barcel cast a stern gaze towards Arty. He seemed to get the message and he agreed readily enough as he began walking around clapping his hands to get everyone's attention. "We're done here. Everyone pack up."
Arty watched with a careful gaze as the guild members shuffled in and deposited the last of what they had found. All points were tallied and then after a short enough wait, the entire guild disappeared with a comical pop only to reappear within the main hall. Members of Arty's group would be waiting for them to arrive. The rewards had already been prepared, it was simply up for the guild members to choose them.
"Good job. Get your stuff and go home."

The "shop" itself had a somewhat limited selection consisting largely of rare stones and gems that, though treasure, weren't what the group was interested in. There were also some strange, older bits and pieces that seemed like they would teach special skills. And, of course, simple cash was available for those who were either disinterested in the alternatives or who didn't have enough points to claim any, as well as of course a flat payment for everyone's work regardless of their results.

Shop!

Cimm&Nuna&Mana&Kennick

Mana materialized from thin air after they were teleported, hovering above the rest of the group of Pokémon below. The ghost looked over to its captain, who was already looking at it from his position still next to the other Luxio. It unnerved the spirit a bit to know that Cimm was already used to its presence and had sensed its ethereal form all too easily. The cat flicked his tail once before the apparition came over to him obediently.

"Get Kennick and collect the reward. It won't be much considering our luck during the entire thing." His voice was as deep and toneless as ever, but the order got across to Mana, It nodded once before heading over to the dragon.

Cimm turned to Mercy with a huff, having not had much time to converse with her. Not that it mattered, though, he was fine with just being quiet and standing there. His eyes flicked from her, over to where Nuna stood, dumbstruck about something and looking as if she wanted to yell something out very loudly. A smirk found his lips and he regarded Mercy, "I gotta get going. See ya." He commented. He wasn't one for wishing others well, or offering good luck and things of that sort. His goodbyes were nearly always brief. So before waiting to hear a reply, he turned and began walking over to Nuna so that he could enjoy her torment for just a bit.

Bahadur&Herbert

Herbert calmly listened to the real Growlithe, Kennet, and the Sawsbuck, Keivera. He didn't bother looking for the Marill since they had said it was off on its own. He wasn't sure about these other members either, since he really hadn't noticed them either before. Now that they were speaking, though, he could tell they were harmless. But that still didn't mean he felt like getting to know all of them. So instead of letting his telepathy range extend to all the Pokémon present, he kept it local to Air who seemed very sincere and genuine.

"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I, am Herbert." he let the Ditto know before suddenly the Guild leader that was present began speaking alongside the Smeargle. Then, without much warning after the rest of the items were deposited, they were teleported back into the Main Hall of the guild. When they got there he could practically feel his team mate's eyes boring through his metallic form. "Air. Please do not inform the details of our conversation to my Captain. It would be disadvantageous for me if he were to know of it." The psychic managed to ask in deadpan before Bahadur slinked up to them.

"Hey, Herbert! About ready to go?" To anyone else, the tone may have sounded like simple cheer and inquiry, but Herbert could literally feel the suspicion and malice behind the thick veil of deceit. No, his partner was not happy that he was interacting with the Ditto. So instead of replying, or even giving a nod to Air, the Bronzor floated silently over to where the rewards sat awaiting them.

Bahadur stayed back only a moment longer than Herbert, giving the Growlithe a once over before offering a smile and a gentle nod. He went after his partner to collect some rewards, cogs in his mind churning and grinding against one another as he furiously tried to figure his partner out.

Arturius's weight would suddenly shift in Q's hand as he was "pulled" away from Q's grip. He could float quite well on his own. Though if Q wished to take it upon himself to return him to Katherine, that was very much what he could do. Arturius would not object to such an action; the only reason he chose not to move about on his own often was that he preferred to be thought of as a blade and little more. The less people there were that knew of his sentience, the better.

Cut
Donovan & Theodore
Total Points: 10

RNG Fate had been good to Team Cut. While their results weren't overwhelmingly so lucky, they were far from "bad" either. From a quick look around it was clear enough to Theodore that the team had been one of the luckier ones overall... which was good. It was unfortunate then that the array of what was available seemed somewhat less than useful to both Donovan and Theodore, though the former was quick to disappear from the guild hall. This left Theodore with the choice completely to himself, which was one he mulled over slowly. In the end, he pulled three TM's on the pile, promptly took all three into himself and left.

Jessica & Tobias
Total Points: 4

Jessica felt satisfied in the end. It wasn't the best result but it was certainly a result and she was fine with what she had found though that left only one issue. As the guild was teleported back home, she was quick to seek Tobias out of the crowd. The Linoone had been holding his body to the floor in an effort to evade detection but it had been fruitless. She found him anyways. With a sudden motion that succeeded only due to the crowds disguising her movements, she leapt on the Linoone and quickly squeezed his chest as hard as he could.
With a cough and a splutter, a small pile of rocks was launched out of Tobias's mouth. "No..." Her hand shot down before Tobias could react and with pinpoint precision she struck at the tiny little golden gleam.
"I knew it."
Tobias didn't respond, apparently too busy taking the rocks back into his mouth and then quickly running off with them. The shiny thing was an acceptable loss but nobody was taking his nice round stones.
Nobody.
That, of course, left Jessica to choose how to use the team's funds on her own. Her fingers rested lightly against the bubble TM. A memory of a certain story came to mind. It was an easy choice. There would be more chances to get money, after all.

Rezon flicked his tail in mild annoyance as he realized quickly that due to er...Aldric's clumsiness, they would not be receiving any of the fancier prizes. Not that he cared, as they did get money, but he was sure the Tyrunt did. Glancing to his companion he would see that in fact his assumption was correct. Pouting, the Tyrunt let out a huff as he was displeased that they had nothing to show for their hard work. Rezon decided it was best to get Aldric out of the area before he threw a temper tantrum, to which he decided would be soon.

Active Members: EVERYONE

Q blinked. "Eh, really?!? Huh, what're the odds... well, I know her, so I'll take you there!" Sure enough, he scurried over to Katherine, saying to the Kirlia, "Hey Kat, why didn't you tell me the talking sword was yours? I would've given him back to you if you asked!"
Meanwhile, the other members of the Team were currently leaving, knowing that Q would catch up. Besides, Stormy seemed rather insistent on them giving Q and Katherine some alone time for some reason...

Skye & Quil & Zahra

Zahra shivered at the sensation of being transported back to the guilds. She felt frustrated, perhaps even to the point of being a little spiteful of her teammates. There wasn't much reason to, other than... jealousy? Was she jealous?

She knew that Skye and Quil already had a very deep bond with each other. They'd worked together for many years before she'd been around, and both were significantly older than she was. She had a lot to learn, and a lot to prove. She didn't know if she'd ever be prepared for that sort of closeness with them, but she also didn't know if she wanted that, either. It was... confusing.

It didn't help that her first job on the team was digging up old, dirty trinkets. They were breakable, and apparently important, and the result was having her new teammates leaning over her shoulder every five seconds. She could work with them just fine without all the "helpful" nudging- she just wanted enough space to work on her own, too.

Zahra shifted her wings, walking away from her new team without a glance behind her. She walked up to the temporary shop, stating her team name over the din of other "customers", and was quickly tossed a flat sum of PD for her troubles.

The young Togetic eyed the piles of shining stones with envy. Somewhere in that pile would be a shiny stone, one that could help her to evolve into the agile, graceful form of a Togekiss. Her stomach twisted- home sounded very far away right now, with all of the natural mineral veins that ran through its cliffsides. She could have evolved in time, if she'd stayed home with the others.

The very confused fairy snatched up a TM at random, and demanded the rest of her reward in cash. The PD was promptly added to her total and she turned to bring the funds back to her waiting teammates. The TM was stowed carefully under her folded wings, where it would remain hidden for the time being.

As she joined them, Skye said nothing, but offered a silent smile of reassurance. This was ignored. Zahra could appreciate the thought, but she wasn't quite ready to resolve that particular argument. Instead, she approached the little Joltik that sat on her shoulder, and gestured for him to open the carry bag that was slung over Skye's harness. Their rewards were dropped in, and the three left together in an uneasy silence.

Ghost & Atius

Ghost shook her snowy white fur, once again coated in mud past her elbows. The difference today was that she was not unhappy about it and could feel a glimmer of pride beginning to swell in her chest.

The pride was immediately quelled as a shadow loomed over her, the Absol flinching and dropping low into a defensive stance against the ground as she spun to face the Pokemon behind her. It took her a few heart-pounding moments to recognize the massive orange eyes that stared back at her. She wilted visibly under the scrutiny of the much larger Metang, but Atius seemed not to mind.

A tender, metal claw scooped his filthy partner from the floor, holding her upside-down as one might a newborn child. Ghost shivered, very nervous about this, and quickly squirmed out of his grip.

No move was made to stop her, and Atius watched in concern as she jumped back onto the solid floor. "D-don't do that- I can't fight like that," she stammered uneasily, the icy edge in her voice creating a moment of hesitation in Atius as he processed her words.

"I will never bring harm to you, little one. I swear it on my armor, and I swear it on my magnetic core- It is my duty to protect you." Atius' voice was filled with patience, though there was no deeper emotions beneath it. His devotion, as of yet, was still devotion to his duties. It was a devotion to himself, not Ghost.

"D-don't make promises you can't keep- I... I like my paws on the ground, where I can protect myself." Ghost was firm in this, though Atius could easily note the shiver of anxiety that raced through her lithe frame. She was still afraid, though perhaps more of life itself than of her partner.

"I have every intention of keeping that promise. Your safety is ensured, and I will personally see to it."

Ghost stared back at him, unsure of what to say. She sat back on her haunches and waited as the crowd circled in to receive their hard-earned payment for the day. That was another thing- there were a lot of other Pokemon around, and she had no intention of joining the fray to find herself rewards. Atius could deal with that.

Keiran

Keiran's smile widened as he heard the Paras' voice. It was definitely Erinn- he hadn't been mistaken. He felt a strange mixture of confusion and happiness, but he was definitely glad to see the timid insect again. Erinn had always been kind to him, and though he was very timid, he had also been very supportive of him when he first joined Team MistMelody's family.

The dark-furred Riolu bent down onto his knees and drew Erinn into a warm hug, having long since accepted and grown used to physical affection with his friends. Twenty-five years was a long time- he'd recovered from a fair number of things in that time, and the influence of his old tribe was certainly one of them. Regardless, this was the same warm welcome that he'd presented to Riley.

"It's good to see you, too, Erinn. I've missed you," he greeted smoothly. He was genuinely glad to see him.

While he'd heard about Riley's departure, he hadn't heard about Erinn's. At one point in his life, he would honestly not have expected the timid Paras to return to this line of work. Now, he couldn't honestly admit why that thought wouldn't have occurred to him. Erinn was socially timid, true, but there was still a bravery in him that had truly started to shine in recent years.

The excitement faded as he noted the anxiety in his friend's eyes, and Keiran softened. He could feel such similar emotions to his own lurking behind the Paras' exterior, and the sensations of guilt, joy and sadness all swirled together in a way that was uncomfortably familiar.

It was interesting, it seemed, that they both seemed to feel the same about this change in their lives. Maybe there wasn't a need for explanations- or at least not as many as he'd originally expected. "I didn't know you were a guild member, too," he admitted. "-but I'm glad that you are, somehow. It'll be good to have more family close by."

The Riolu straightened at the sound of their superiors calling for their attention. That didn't leave much time for conversation. He felt the familiar stretching and woozy sensation of a teleport. He took but a split second to readjust to his new surroundings, as he was never caught off-guard. Physical discomfort was nothing new to him.

"I need to collect my pay for the day, but I'd really like it if you could come visit us soon? Riley and I are co-captains- I'm sure he'll be ecstatic to see you again." He could tell from the emotions that washed over him that Erinn was nervous as always. It was a process, reassuring someone with such deeply-rooted anxiety that things would be okay. It wasn't always a rational fear, but Erinn had good reason to be nervous in this case. He wasn't sure if that simplified or complicated things.

Venari
Katherine & Arturius

Katherine had been planning on leaving. Arturius was more than capable of returning to the team room on his own. He couldn't fly and he couldn't go that fast but it wasn't like he did anything else with his time. He didn't have friends, he didn't read, he didn't... do anything. He was perfectly content that way. So she was perfectly content to let him float back on his own if it meant avoiding an awkward conversation. But she wouldn't get to let him float back home on his own and she wouldn't be able to avoid that conversation. Q was much too happy and eager to meet back up with her.
"Ah..." It wasn't easy to say something right away. It was all just a little bit awkward. "I was in the middle of saying it when you pushed me over."
It wasn't an accusatory statement. She recognized well enough why Q had pushed her over and she didn't seem to be upset about it, at least not anymore. If there was anything, there was an awkward sense of guilt that she had pushed him back for no real reason.

Naturally, Q didn't seem to pick up on the awkwardness in the atmosphere, instead tilting his head slightly in thought. "Ohhh... yeah, that'd probably do it," he noted, nodding sagely. He wasn't going to apologize for that, obviously, since that would imply he regretted doing so, and at the time it was either that or let Katherine's head get vaporized by the giant laser of Doom. Then he blinked, noting that Katherine seemed a bit... awkward about something, for lack of a better term. "You seem bothered by something... do you need a hug? Everyone loves hugs!" he declared, waving his arms around emphatically... and once more comically shaking Arturius around in the process. Then he paused, seeming to consider something. "...'Cept for that fishy I met a while back that tried to eat me, but he was a bit painful to hug anyway. But other than that, yay hugs!" ...Apparently his brain-to-mouth filter was as nonexistent as usual. Still, he didn't seem to bear a grudge against her for her anger earlier or even realize she'd been angry in the first place.
