"Should we retrieve our silent companion?" Lori asked, eyeing Pinzin. "He seems to be doing well for himself."
Rynga sighed heavily. "No, the pink feather head is something else. I fear that we are just fans of the ladies... this is something that we must work on!"
Juan chuckled a bit, amused by his new companion.
Pinzin made an vague sound and shrugged. He wasn't exactly from around these parts, but the place he called home wasn't far from here. He nodded in the general direction of where he lived.

"You know all the times he gives us that look that says he wants to kill us?" Chrysaor looked between his two friends. "I think he might actually do it if we go bother him now."
"We really need to do something..." Silverwing agreed.
"Well, at least one of you is right..." Rio muttered.
"So are you hanging out with these other clowns often?" he asked of the little cat man.
"From over there somewhere?" she asked and looked for confirmation. "That is not so far at all. Do you come here often?"

"I think you're right. We should leave him be for the moment," Lori agreed.
"But what?" Rynga sighed, trying to think of how they could up their game.
"Only when I need a laugh," Juan said with a wide grin.
Pinzin nodded a confirmation when she looked to him after her first guess. To her second question, he shook his head and stomped his hoof once to indicate this was the first time. Then he looked pointedly at the two dunder heads and tried to roll his eyes. They stuck thanks to those blasted stitches and he huffed in frustration.

"I still wanna know how he got a girl," Chrysoar hissed.
"I'm open to suggestions," he said with a shrug.
"I would suggest you two worry more about self improvement?" Rio suggested pretty much expecting it would be ignored.
"So...then it is often?"
"This is your first time here with..." she was about to denounce them as loud once based on the....conversation that had occurred recently but did not want to insult his comrades. "With your friends?"

"Perhaps if we observe now....?"
Rynga ignored Rio. "Perhaps if we spoke to the lady here?" he nodded to the the winged mare.
"Oh, yes," Juan chuckled. "They're always good for a laugh."
Friends. Bah. They were no friends. They were like leeches. Sores on his hide that he couldn't quite shake. He snorted.

"Observe...right," he muttered quickly under his breath. "Well, um, yeah - I uh, support that could be a possibility. It might even go our way if we maintain a little distance, a bit of a distance at least between us and well...whatever it is. Not that we're not great at some hooves on stuff, although actually we're really not. But maybe some safe type of observations are just what the doctor ordered. At least until we, um, you know - get our grove back? Or something?" he gulped before continuing. "It's just luck hasn't been too favorable to us today, you know what I mean?"
"Oh yeah, sure," Silverwing said rolling his eyes. "Sounds like a great plan. You wanna go first? Chick still seems a little steamed and even with my wings I'm a fan of my feathers generally staying in place."
"That...actually isn't the worst plan ever," Rio commented somewhat dryly.
"I may have to come up for air more often," the water stallion snickered.
Amaranth gave a half smile, "I suppose they are a colorful bunch at the very least?"

"Yes, yes," Lori agreed, nodding so quickly that his curls bounced. "A wise stallion knows when to charge ahead, and when to hang back. Observing seems wise now..." Or going just going home. That sounded good, too. Lori was exhausted. Arguing with a crazy, unreasonable mare certainly takes it out of a fellow.
“It falls down to me, then?” Rynga rolled his eyes. “Very well… Into the breach I go! Should I fail to return, weep for me and tell tales of my heroics!”
“You really should,” Juan agreed, grinning. “Especially when this lot shows up.”
Lively didn’t even begin to describe those morons. Pinzin heaved a heavy sigh and let his head hang down as far as it would go, to show how heavy a burden the lot of them were. Why did he associate with them, again? Ah, yes…. They gave him no choice.

Chrysoar gave a half eyed glanced at his best buddy and absolute favorite partner in crime. He thought he knew the stallion pretty well by now, but at this moment, he really wasn't so sure. Lori didn't get involved with mares - he got others involved with mares. It kinda made him the perfect wingman, because, you know - he wouldn't steal the girl you were going for. Instead he would give his all to make sure she had eyes only for you. So what if they hadn't exactly had a lot of luck in the love department....or, any luck...at all. This was still his friend and his friend was clearly hurting. Clearly this required some sort of supportive response, right? "You, uh, sure you're okay there, Lori?" He could see the stallion was trying to put on a show of some bravado, but he'd also seen he was more than a bit shook up. Usually things just rolled right off the guy like water. But not this lady. There was clearly a history here but honestly, Chrysoar couldn't even imagine what that could have been. Man, it was turning into a rough day all around. They really had to find a new watering hole, he thought to himself with a ready nod. This day was just too weird.
"Yeah, we'll tell the good and the bad," Silverwing assured him giving him a little half nudge forward towards the mare. After all, it was his funeral because seriously, that mare just looked steamed. Still impending doom or not, it was his responsibility to give his buddy crap just the same. That's what friends do, right? "Mostly the bad," he added briskly, "if we're being honest. Although, you know what they say about speaking ill of the dead. Still," he grinned a broad grin at the gathered group, "It is beneath a gentleman to tell lies, and well, you know..."
"But...you're not a gentleman?" Rio stated in a puzzled manner.
"Ah, you think this will be like every day type of thing?" Gregor asked, amusement tainting his voice.
"Family can be like that sometimes," Amaranth offered. "I remember mine used to be so overbearing sometimes, they drove me crazy..." she trailed off and added. "Of course that's kinda why I packed up and left so maybe I'm not the best authority on such things..."
Oblivious to all the cajoling and drama that occurred across the pond, a mare with a delicate step emerged from the woods and approached the water's edge. She slowly lowered her head to drink from the cool water, her eyes darting across the length of the pool to watch the strangers on the other side. They were a large group, to be sure. And they came in so many different shapes, sizes, and colors. She watched them warily as she drank. It wasn't that she was skiddish. She just knew enough to be careful around strangers, that's all. But from this distance she figured she would be more than safe. Besides, she always had the threat of her wings as a hasty exit. It didn't matter that she took more after her unicorn ancestors than anything and though she was an alicorn her bones were far too dense to allow for flying. Of course no one else had to know that...

Lori: "Of course!" Lori answerred a shade too brightly. He wasn't, really. But he didn't want to ruin Chrysor's night, and he certainly didn't want to blow what little progress Pinzin seemed to be making. After all, their mute friend so rarely managed to gain attention from a lovely mare!
Rynga: "Heathens, the both of you," Rynga laughed. "And terrible friends, to boot." With that parting joke, he ambled his way over to the volitle mare. He considered several ways to begin the conversation, and discarded every one that was even mildly flirtatious. He wasn't trying to hit on her after all, and even he could see that she wasn't up to any light hearted flirting. "Pardon me, my lady, but my friends and I couldn't help but notice the animosity between your lovely self and that... Ah... Irritating, shall we say, stallion over there. I must confess that I... Well, we... Were a mite concerned. You seem somewhat distressed and such a state hardly suits a lady so fair as you. Is there anything I might be able to do to assist in lightening your mood?" No, in his mind there was nothing flirtatious about that.
Juan: He chuckled. "If we're very, very lucky, it will be." He considered for a moment then gave an impish grin. "And if it looks like it won't be, we can always help things along."
Pinzin: That sounded like a story, but of course he couldn't press too hard. He chose to ignore the idiots he was surrounded by to give the mare speaking to him a bit more attention. He wasnted to ask if she regretted leaving her family, but that wasn't an option. All he could do was tilt his head curiously and hope she would elaborate.

"You, uh, sure?" the stallion asked again prodding gently. Chrysoar wasn't the most supportive of souls - he saw himself as more of an entertainer and liked to make people laugh. But Lori didn't look like he was looking for a laugh right then. "I mean, if you need to talk or anything, you know I'm there for you, right buddy?"
"So...." Silverwing started off with a slow drawl as soon as Rynga was out of ear shot. "I got 5 on her gouging his eyes out. It would be 10 if she had pinky's talons but seeing as she's all hooves and it would be way more work I'm sticking with 5." He cringed for a moment imagining what the baskets might look like from that twisted little pairing but recovered rather quickly. "I'm telling you Rio, you should take this one. It's not often I offer odds that are even remotely fair, and at the expense of one of my best friends at that. What do you say?" he grinned trying to egg to all too stable stallion on.
"I say I count myself lucky that I'm not one of your best friends...." the stallion muttered keeping a steady eye on Rynga.
Vyrikyr blinked as she heard the hoof falls approaching and turned to regard the speaking stallion with more than an iota of shock, "Um, this really isn't a good time. I should really be seeing to my friend," she added and started to turn towards where she left Amaranth....and was more than slightly shocked to see her friend engrossed in conversation with another stallion. "Well...how do you like that..."
"Gregor thinks you enjoy too muchthe causing of the trouble," the big stallion chuckled again. "But is good. Everyone needs laugh."
"Oh," Amaranth added nervously. "Well, long story actually. Of course it was a stallion. It always is, isn't it. Looking back on it now, he might have gotten along well with some of your friends over there. Anyways to make a long story short family didn't approve, I didn't care, ran away to be together....then he didn't care so," she gave a shy smile. "Here I am. Though I do not regret my choices, I've seen so much since I left our little home. Met so many new and different souls - and made good friends along the way too." She glanced up at him still wearing the same small smile, "I'm sure you have quote a tale too." She did wish he could tell her. He was such a good listener, she felt guilty being unable to give him the same kindness.
The mare's ears perked up as she heard soft and steady voices being carried across the pond. Words of concern and comfort. Familiar words to be certain. She often sought to reassure her siblings when they faced tribulations and trials. Her little sister (twins though she was the elder by nearly half a minute), head strong and determined, needed such comforts in her darkest of times. She strived to give the same to their older brother though he didn't seem to need her quite as much. She lifted her head slowly and narrowed her eyes trying to discern the speaker of those words. She had thought by their actions that those across the water were a rowdy group of revelers and though that may still be, it was not often in her travels she met another soul concerned so with the well being of others. She was all at once curious but still wary. She knew the world could be cruel but it was her nature to seek out and cultivate goodness and kindness.

Lori chuckled a bit, his smile becoming a bit more genuine. How could he continue to wallow in misery when he had such great friends like Chrysor? "I'm positive," he said, grinning. "Though I admit to being a bit flummoxed by Pinzin..."
Rynga followed the mare's gaze and found himself grinning a bit. "Your friend seems to be enjoying herself," he said, conversationally. "Can't say I know that fellow personally, but he seems to be a decent sort. Quiet, though."
"And I do so love providing that laugh," Juan grinned. He noticed the new mare and kept a partial eye on her, just in case she proved to be another source of amusement. His "friends" seemed to have forgotten about him.
Pinzin certainly had a tale of woe all his own. Not that he could share it. He sighed heavily and shook his head to indicate that she wouldn't want to hear it. He would have loved to tell it... or any tell. Heck, he'd like to just say Hello to someone, anyone. It had been so long since he spoken, he sometimes wondered if his voice had completely rusted out. If he could speak, would it even be there? Ah, but that wasn't the point. The idiot that had dragged her away from her family and then abandoned her was... well... an idiot. Though, he had to wonder why she didn't go home. Unless... He glanced over at the other mare and gave Amaranth a questioning look, wondering if perhaps they were cousins or something.

Chrysoar followed his gaze and let out a low whistle. "Well...at least everyone's luck tonight isn't bad. So, I guess that's something. However after our events we might be wise to take a break for a day...or a week...or something," he shook his head and lower his neck to drink from the water, catching a glimpse of a form across the water. "Um, your, uh - not friendly girl over there doesn't have a sister or anything like that does she? Because there's definitely another wind over there, across the way. And she's looking right at us," he added in a much lower tone.
Vyrikyr chuckled and shook her head, "Yeah, that's the thing. She's normally pretty quite too. A deep thinker, that one is most days. Well, I hope she's having fun, she deserves it."
"Huh," Silverwing commented quietly to himself and Rio. "I don't see any blood splatter. Of course with that coat of his how would we know, right?" He added with a grin to show he was kidding, mostly, "You know, because it's all red and white and...splattered and stuff?"He shook his head getting no rewarding response from Rio. "She actually seems pretty calm now. Shocking, pinky seems to bring out the worst in some, huh?" he glanced over at Rio who was chuckling, all traces of his 'heartbreak' seemingly gone. "Then again, he might not be the only one with that effect, huh?"
"Strange how popular watering hole is tonight," Gregor noted with some amusement.
"Oh, Vyrikyr? She's a good friend. Like I said," she added with a smile. "I've meet a lot of kind souls on my travels, Vyrikyr and her sister are among them."
Xara blinked when she noticed the stallions looking across the water in her direction and turned her head to the left then the right trying to see if there was someone else nearby they could be looking at. After all, they certainly couldn't be looking at her, right? She looked back and forth again before looking back across the water and offering a half-hearted little wave with her hoof. Internally she chided herself for the awkwardness. This is why she tried so hard to keep to herself and didn't go about bothering others, only helping them, if she could. It was so much simpler when it was just her and her siblings or the ill or infirm.

"I... don't know," Lori answered Chrysoar. "She's not with the delightful harpy, so maybe not?" Hiding his unease, he graced the nervous seeming mare with a bright and friendly smile, lifting his own hoof in a cheerful wave. "She seems a bit nervous... perhaps we should go speak to her?" Yep, he seemed to have forgotten his last interaction with a winged mare.
Rynga grinned a bit at Vyrikyr, pleased that she seemed to be letting go of at least some of her anger. "Everyone deserves some fun now and again," he joked, lightly.
"What? It's not always like this?" Juan asked, arching a brow. That was both amusing and disappointing at the same time.
A good friend, so not family. Which meant she hadn't gone home... Pinzin gave her a confused look, trying to think the question at her. Who knew what she would pick up.

"Are you sure you're up for it?" Chrysoar asked, the concern still weighing in his voice. Just because Lori was trying to sound like he had moved on from...whatever that was. That didn't actually mean that he was ready to move along so quick. He...he did see the wicked curved horn on that lovely lady, didn't he? But then again, Lori was right in his observation that she looked nervous. Almost as nervous as he felt. Not that Chrysoar ever showed it - he was, after all, a performer and entertainer above all other things and as such couldn't afford to look nervous in front of a crowd. Nope, total and complete confidence was the only path for him, or at least the appearance of such. "She is...very pretty," he conceded after a beat and started trotting in the mare's direction. "Maybe it couldn't hurt much to go over and talk to her?"
"Oh dear," Xara Jayne gasped softly was she saw the two figures glancing over at her and then start moving...in her direction. She nervously looked over her shoulders and smoothed back her feathers a little, trying to make herself somewhat presentable after her long travels. She had no fear of attack or assault here, there were so many others around and this was such a peaceful watering hole, but what did make her quiver was the prospect of addressing others. She so often seemed to trip over her own words making her seem like some sort of incompetent klutz. That was what she really hated. She had worked so hard in her life to perfect her limited healing abilities (turns out having a unicorn horn was not the same thing as having unicorn healing powers - only several years of training and practice had allowed her to cultivate what little potential she'd been born with). But here they were coming now and she was going to have to at least look somewhat able. She took a steadying breath.
"She more than most," Vyrikyr commented softly.
"You know..." Silverwing commented crossing his legs in a bit of agitation. "Sometimes that guy really annoys me. Can you imagine anyone else with his luck? Rather be lucky than good any day - can't replicate luck, right?" he shook his head. "Rynga always used to say he could charm any lady, any time, any place - I always thought he was just blowing his own horn but um, damn - guy might not have been straight up lying to me." Silverwing sighed and briefly considered letting Rynga try to work his magic on his sister. Not Rynga's sister of course (Silverwing didn't even know if the stallion had a sister, or any family? He really should invest more time learning about his friends' backgrounds) but His sister. Her royal iceness herself. Ice Queen had always been a bit grouchy, even when they were kids, but lately Silverwing couldn't help but worry about her a bit. She was walking a dangerous path and she did it with a cold and calculating glee. He did his best to maintain his lovely idiot face with her but even that wasn't making her crack a grin anymore (not that it ever really worked very well, honestly he probably just mostly irritated her when they were kids). Maybe this was something he'd having to bring in some outside help to...um, help....with.
Gregor shrugged and replied, "Suppose they must sleep sometime."
"I'm rather fond of traveling," she added as an after thought. "True, it's a little odd not having a place to call home and rest my head, but seeing something new, the possibility for the unknown that each new day brings. It's a life of adventure. It's not all bad."

"It couldn't hurt at all," Lori agreed cheerfully as he followed his friend. He watched as the strange mare primped herself a bit at their approach, grinning a bit. A touch of his good cheer returned. When they had finally reached her, he gave his goofiest, most harmless smile. "Greetings, lovely lady!"
Rynga glanced at Vyrikyr curiously then studied the winged mare's friend. "A sad story there, I take it?" he mused. She offered his companion a quick, reassuring smile. "No need to tell me, luv. I imagine it's her tale to tell, and I wouldn't dream of putting you in a position to say as much. I'm glad, though, that she has found a moment of happiness. Those who need it most are those who cherish it most."
"I don't think they're going to be heading to sleep any time soon," Juan said, dryly.
Ah, that would explain why she hadn't gone home. He considered it for a moment before nodding his understanding. He wasn't traveling for the love of it, really, but rather because he couldn't stay in one place for long without someone getting uncomfortable. It was easier to just keep on the move. besides, there was always the hope that he might find some way to break this blasted curse... but he could understand how others would find it appealing.
