Chel snickered as Jack tailored his humor to her tastes, feeling much more at home in sex jokes than in quiet serene natural beauty.
"I am enjoyin' myself," she insisted, and it was easy to believe when she was red in the face from Jack's flirtation. "Just wish Greece was a little ... I dunno, flashier." She had expected Hollywood Greece, not normal tourist town Greece.
Her head slumped onto Jack's shoulder, the picturesque vision of a happy couple. "Cats are pretty cute at least."

Chel squinted at Jack, unsure if he was joking or not. Was Hermes a fashion label? Was he pulling her leg? Chel would have had no ******** idea.
She played it smooth. "The god. She said he had winged sandals and an ambulance rod or somethin'." A misinterpretation and not entirely false.
From a rack, Chel grabbed a navy blue baseball cap with Greek written across the front. Dawson had said he only wanted Gyros, but Chel never gave anyone only what they said they wanted.

"Caduceus." He eyed a shirt and snickered after reading it. "Why did she want something from Hermes specifically?" he asked, moving a little further into one of the shops. The inside was filled with statues, some of which piqued his interest.

He hummed his agreement and was content to let her lean against him for as long as he thought was prudent. The break was welcomed: Jack had been somewhat distracted all day, making marks on his map as they roved the city, constantly checking the reader like it was a compulsive urge he couldn't stop, stiffening whenever he thought he had something on the board. This was still pretending to be normal, both as people and as a couple, but at least he was good at pretending when it suited him.
"What were you expecting?" he asked, tilting his head against hers and watching the coming and going of citizens and tourists alike.

"Bless you," Chel responded.
"I dunno why she wanted Hermes. Didn't ask," she said with a shrug. She followed Jack's gaze to the statues and snickered at the topless women. She definitely needed a life sized one of those for her room. "Help me find somethin' for Finn and Ripples. I never know what to get those shitheads."

Chel didn't feel like defining herself further and she definitely didn't give Jack the opportunity to ask. "Next question. Did you have a lot of friends growin' up or nah?"

Chel's skin was beginning to crawl, but her fingers found their way to his thigh and she began to run her palm down it in gentle strokes. She was attempting to heed his advice; calm, serene.
"I dunno. More Hercules, less plants.." Her eyes closed for a moment as she tried to disillusion herself from the web she'd created on accident. "More ********', less dicks." That may or may not have been a stab at Jack in respite for earlier.

"Define 'a lot'," he replied, sitting back and stealing the milkshake for a long sip before returning it. "I had a little in crowd, yeah, if that's what you mean. People knew who I was--I talked to people on the basketball team, or in whatever club I was enrolled in--but I didn't have a lot of close friends, no."
If his attitude wasn't off-putting, his inability to people for very long did the trick.
"I'm going to guess you were the one with friends pretty much anywhere you went?"

He snorted and asked, "Like the Disney monstrosity?" He mimicked her, running his fingers along the exposed skin at her midriff. Someone was giving them a strange look as they passed; Jack kept their gaze without blinking until they turned away. Most likely they had just become new additions to the reviews that mentioned strange people always being there.
He chose not to rise to Chel's bait. "Europe as a whole is honestly like visiting your grandmother's house," he told her. "It's full of history and somewhat behind the times, quaint to visit, and you can't wait to leave after a while. Wish we had time to visit one of the museums proper, though."

"Something not from here," he said, critically eying the shelf of statuettes dedicated to topless women in various sitting positions. "Finn got you those light up sneakers, you could try and do better than something from a tourist trap like this." As for Ripley, he honestly didn't know. He barely had the skeleton for people he talked to frequently as far as gift giving, let alone someone who was more a friend of a friend.
Squatting down, he investigated the goods on the floor. "Let's get your cousin a naked woman; it's the only way he'll ever get to grope tits anyway. Unless he prefers d**k, in which case there's plenty of those here too."

Chel made a face at her milkshake being stolen. She was definitely the type of hypocrite that stole food and then disliked being stolen from.
"Sounds kinda lonely," Chel noted, elbows on the table and chin in her hands. "Least you had friends I guess. Half expected you to say-" Dramatic voice for effect with a hand on her forehead, "I didn't have friends- I work alone."
That got her in a fit of giggles until she recovered. "I guess I had friends yeah. I got close to people, but I lost 'em twice as fast. Like I hung out with 'em in school or whatever, but never really relied on 'em." It was a complicated arrangement to explain. "Chris was the only friend I needed man. He's my best friend." Which maybe helped explain why it hurt so much when he left for the military, or when she'd thought he'd disappeared. "Your turn."

"I liked the movie!" she told him, "b***h a** p***y becomes a lady slayer- what's not cool about that?" The fingers made her open her eyes momentarily as a flinch, but then she resettled back onto his shoulder, thinking nothing of it.
She laughed at his comparison, but let out a whiny noise at his latter statement. "Museum's are borin'."

Chel rolled her eyes. "Finn got me light up sneakers for Christmas. This is an extra gift I don't hafta get. They're different." There was apparently a social equivalence going on. "But I didn't mean it had to be from here. I just mean f'you see anything those knuckleheads would want."
Jack's second statement brought up an expression that implied she had a lot to say, but she bit back her tongue. While Chel trusted Jack with all her secrets it didn't mean she was going to throw him ammo for taking her cousin out. There was still a hierarchy to her loyalties and she wanted to avoid warfare between the two as much as possible.
"No 'cause I want a naked woman statue. Chris needs somethin' even stupider. Think fake Zeus beard or somethin'."
