Chance smiled. "Technically yes, but it works better if you pour it in while you're mixing, it makes it a little more creamy and a little better swirled together. It makes for a nicer texture than just pouring the milk at the end, though it wouldn't be terrible, just a little more lumpy."
Once the milk was in, he set it down and capped it, watching Otto do the rest of the mixing.
"Everything all good?" he said with a smile. "Make sure there aren't any dry bits in there, and then we'll stick it in the microwave for a few minutes."

Otto's brows furrowed. "This takes forever." He grumbled, huffing when he kept finding dry bits in with the creamy smooth concoction. "Why's it gotta go in the microwave?"

"Patience," said Chance with a laugh, elbowing Otto in the side. "Don't worry, once you finish with that, it's just about done minus a bit more mixing."
He dipped a finger into the mix and scooped out a bit, popping it into his mouth to taste it.
"Tastes almost ready, minus the vanilla," he said cheerfully. "And because it'll help set it, it needs the heat to bind everything together."

"Way different than the powder mix stuff." Otto murmured. "This'll taste better than powder stuff, right?"

"Anything homemade is usually better than powdered," answered Chance. "The milk and the starch and the vanilla all make it a lot more smooth and tasty, in my opinion. That's what I like about making things from scratch."
He wiped his hands on the hem of his shirt and said brightly, "Okay, into the microwave for four minutes!"

"Kay." Otto murmured, taking the bowl of creamy goodness to the microwave. "Remember those cheesecakes? We still need to get more sometime."

"Oh, yes, that's right," said Chance as he pressed a few buttons on the microwave. It lit up immediately, whirring into life, and Chance leaned back against the counter, his arms folded across his chest and a large spoon in one hand. "Cheesecake is another thing I could maybe teach you, but that's a little more complicated. We definitely should get some cheesecake and then maybe bring it back, have ourselves another movie night."
He smiled at Otto. "Well, I mean...not that I'm barging into your place or anything, I mean, if you wanted to have another movie night."
The microwave dinged, and Chance twisted around, reaching to pull open the door. He pulled the bowl out and reached for the little bottle of vanilla extract, pouring the right amount out into the pudding and then stirring it all up before sticking it back in the microwave for another minute.

"Sure. I'm not feelin' movie night any time soon. But sometime would be cool." He didn't much feel like inviting anyone over for a while. "Does the vanilla make it taste like vanilla or something?"

He turned his head to look at Otto over his shoulder, giving him a brief look before turning back to the microwave.
"If you ever wanted to get off the island too, I've got a lot of vacation days saved up," said Chance, pulling the bowl out and stirring in another tiny amount of vanilla before he put it back in, this time for two minutes instead of one. "And the vanilla adds flavor, it won't taste like vanilla since it's mixed with the chocolate, but it helps to add sweetness and kind of round out the chocolatey taste so it's not straight cocoa."

"Can you stack vacation days? I didn't think that was allowed." In fact he was pretty sure it wasn't. Otherwise he'd have months off, and as a hunter that was a big No No. He kind of wished and wondered if undercover missions in the human world existed, just so he could feel normal for a few days while still working. Ugh. Normal. If only. He remained quiet, waiting for the pudding. Pudding would make it all better.

"Not that I know of," said Chance with a laugh. "But I managed to at least snag an extra one, thanks to a bit of convincing from someone who owed me a favor. So I suppose it's not quite the same, but good enough."
He found, with a small bit of confusion, that he was actually a little worried for Otto. It was an entirely peculiar sensation, completely unfamiliar, but it was there, in the pit of his stomach as the timer to the microwave dinged and Chance reached to pull out the bowl.
He dipped the spoon into the pudding and tested out the texture of it, the weight to make sure that it wasn't too thin and runny.
"Normally these are supposed to sit for a few hours so that they can set and get thicker." said Chance as he stirred. "But this is a special fast recipe, it should be okay, though it's not cool."
He brought the spoon up and took a taste, giving a nod after a minute before offering the bowl to Otto.
"Here."

"Okay.. just a taste." He murmured. He wanted the pudding to be at it's best when he ate it. He could wait a pinch for it to set properly. For now, he took a spoonful from the bowl. The smooth and creamy, albeit warm, pudding melted in his mouth. It took all his willpower not to take the whole bowl and run to a corner to eat all of it in by himself. "S'good." He murmured.

A smile blossomed across Chance's face.
"See?" he said brightly, and dipped his finger into the pudding, stealing a little for himself and giving a satisfied nod. "You did it, you made dessert and it wasn't that hard, everything just goes all together into a bowl and voila, pudding."

"Is there any like... healthy type food I can make that's that easy? Cause I made a promise that I'd eat well..." He murmured with a distracted gaze elsewhere. "Not too healthy. I hate salad." "And veggies." "Veggies pretty much suck." "Milk is worse though."

Chance contemplated this for a moment.
"What about fruit?" he asked. "Eating well doesn't necessarily mean only eating vegetables and drinking coconut water. It just means, sadly, not drowning yourself in sugar all the time, as delicious as it is."
As if to prove this, he stole another fingerful of pudding, tapping it against the side of his mouth thoughtfully.
"Anything with whole grains is good, so like, for instance, if you decided you wanted to make pancakes, there's plenty you could add stuff into pancakes to make them more healthy while still keeping them tasting good. Chicken is good for you too, if you like chicken, and fish. How do you feel about fish?"
