Rolling for remaining ticket.

Ancient_Guardian
For his valiant effort, Hazmas and Atrunoir have received a ticket.

No one solved the puzzle called PRIMARY COLORS, but the next morning Dedicate Redflame was able to help out, now that he'd slept some. The answer was SHAMROCK LEAVES, clearly a passcode of some sort. But for what?

Well, Doughnut had found the answer MARKSMAN, and a murmur came over the group as she read it aloud. This was the name of a well-known hero, who wielded a multicolored longbow and kept watch over a hoard of prizes like a legendary dragon. It was she who could provide answers, and she would gladly do so for anyone who gave her the passcode.

And where could they find her?

Well, that was easy. Tai had found the name SKYSLIT - familiar because it named a particularly interesting cavern system to the south of Chiaroscab Hills. There was a small mining settlement nearby. That would be where they needed to go.

The next daystart is delayed due to some unforeseen complications. Thank you for bearing with us so far!

You finally have some great leads. Unfortunately that doesn’t necessarily mean your journey will be completely uneventful! After solving yesterday’s brain twisters, it becomes clear that you need to head out into the open countryside. As you walk, the town melts away behind you, digested by industrious game grubs - and a massive, twisted forest springs up up ahead! The overgrowth is so thick that the road is too narrow for your whole party to easily pass through one route unless you go very slowly - and the road sign says that any of the four paths will get you “where you’re going.”

(Literally. Every spoke on the signpost says “Where You’re Going.”)

Each of the paths has a very different appearance, and you can only guess at what challenges may lie ahead! Some roads may be easier than others, while some may lead to treasure along the way to your party’s goal. One thing’s clear, though: you’ve got to split up.

You choose…

A. The first path is carpeted with soft green grass, the canopy overhead staying clear of its edges as if by magic. Walking down this path doesn’t look like much of a challenge - it looks like a walk in the park!
B. The second path is cloaked in shadow and edged in thorns, and it doesn’t look welcoming at all - but it does look very straightforward! You think you can even see the end!
C. This path is very, very rocky, climbing steadily uphill past hardscrabble, twisted trees. There’s no telling how you’ll get down once you ascend to that height… hopefully there’s a path down the other side.
D. This path has the remnants of paving stones and looks very well-traveled. If you took this road, you probably wouldn’t find anything that no one had found before… but there’s always the chance that another traveler dropped something valuable!

To respond, please indicate which response you are choosing, and write at least fifty words of your troll doing the thing! Results will be posted tomorrow.

Trolls specializing in Aegis have the chance to unlock a special outcome on this prompt!

Atrunoir Elshadow chooses... Option B

As great as he was with building, those brain busters left his brain nearly busted beyond repair. But with lots of help, they'd done it - though some did better than others. Secretly, he was still kicking himself for not getting even one answer right, despite his HEIGHT stat.

'Well, no use brooding over it,' he thought grumpily and was about to pull his hood farther over his face when the scenery began to change. Trees and scraggly bushes surrounded them, forcing the wide trail they were standing on to branch off into several smaller ones - each one no bigger than one of the trolls themselves.

'Now, this I can handle,' Hazmas thought and started down the roughest path, hidden in shadows and dressed with sharp thorns. After all, protecting one from the viciousness of nature was one of the reasons duster jackets were invented! That and they looked wicked awesome!

Swarmpupa Freuudan

Ps.. Swarmpupa... had been too busy getting into character (and enjoying it) to pay attention to the puzzles. She mentally kicked herself afterwards because they had looked fun, but in the end, the story – ooo, she loved the sound of that – the story was progressing and they were off on an adventure.

Psy had never really adventured before, or read any fantasy books (just good old educational stuff for her, and propaganda of course!), so she had no idea if there were any tropes associated with the path.

But, if she was just going by her character's backstory... and by the symbolism... She stood up proud, just like Swarmpupa, and went down the shadowy, thorny path. Because that was what one took to redemption, after all.

She took the first few steps and turned, slightly uncertain, to see where Leeroi was going, but she couldn't get a glimpse of him. So, she lifted her dress up a little, out of the thorns, and just went forth.

She couldn't wait to see what this 'game' would throw at her next!

Doughnut Delicacy choice b

Doughnut Delicacy lives for dangers and shadows! She marches right through the thorny path, as it is the most straightforward and best path!

(will fill in better later....)

He kind of felt bad, sitting back and letting everyone else do all the work. But everyone chipping in seemed sure of themselves, and he had...basically no clue. And, well, it worked out! He'd just have to make up for it later.

Reemus the Bonemeal was just about to relax with this mindset...but then they had to split up. Oh. Well, he couldn't really help that way. At least not with PUNCHING and stuff.

There were so many paths, too! Should he follow what others were doing? Hmmm...the thorns didn't look good. Meanwhile, most of the other paths looked TOO easy. Ehh. But there was a hardcore BADASS path. The rocky one. Yeah, he'd check that out! What's the worst that could happen?

He picked path C.

A princess had to know how to delegate work to her heroes, and so that was exactly what she had done during the puzzle-solving section of their quest. Well, sure, she hadn't actually told anyone what to do, but they'd been so good about getting right to it without needing to be told that it hadn't been necessary for her to intervene. Sure enough, the puzzles had been solved, just as expected, and they'd gone out to follow the revealed clues. Now they would definitely get where they were going, and get really into this adventure!

When they came upon the forest, and the realization that they'd need to split up came, she considered each of the paths. Many of the others had taken the dark and straight-forward path, so she marked off that option. It would be so crowded if she followed, and the thorns might tear her dress! So, she could start climbing like that boy there was- she paused to squint at him, and then shook her head before continuing the mental checklist.

So, she could take the well-traveled path or the absolutely lovely looking one. She thought a moment, and the skipped down the lovely one.

"IT APPEARS AS THOUGH WE MUST PART WAYS." Tai Foon's voice thundered from the back of the group. The wizard had graciously decided to trail behind the pack of scientifically-illiterate morons, as interested in treasure as he was in ******** his teammates over, and maybe even watching people suffer hilarious deaths. Usually he was the one to incite such murder, but working with groups proved to be useful from time to time. When the opportunity arose, he would smite whoever he had to to claim whatever treasure there was to be found.

Now though, they would be forced to part ways, at least for a while. Tai Foon observed his choices before noticing the obviously superior path, the one that lead directly into the heavens. He drifted towards it, seeming to effortlessly scale up the rocks. "GREETINGS DOGMAN. Let us ascend to the clouds on this path, and DESTROY anyone who dares to cross us." Both Tai and Zeffer's voices were laced with sharp amusement as he peered down at the Bonemeal. Was he being serious about teaming up, or was it a ruse? WHO KNOW.

Reemus jumped in shock at being addressed. Not only by an adult, but a highblood. With RAD a** scars that were for REAL. And was...was that spiky mess his true hair? Not just a prop. Ohhhh man. He looked SO COOL. AND INTIMIDATING. AHHHH.

But Bonemeal wouldn't flop on his back like a doggy in a moment like this! No. He was an adult, too! Wary of highbloods, but willing to deal. "Absolutely, mate!" He nodded, trying to look rough and stern.

Ladymiss barked as if in agreement, netting a pat on the head.

"I do a lotta punchin'. D'you do that to 'r do ya got...other means?"

When were they gonna go fight something. When it was finally time to get going, she took to the front, half charging ahead, half struggling to get used to the weird way the world moved in the flarp campaigns, with things springing up in front of you while mimicking the illusion of vast distance. It was, to say the least, a little disorienting.

When the paths split, she dashed forwards for the most exciting looking one, where she'd get to do a bit of physical exercise. There was a yellowblood and a blueblood already climbing, she shot around them, only pausing to yell a challange of a race over her shoulder to the other two trolls. Last one up's the babiest of grubs!" Then turning, she continued to scramble up the path. If there was any treasure at the top, she'd be there first.

If you chose…
A. Not very far down the path, you begin to feel very, very sleepy! All this soft grass looks like an amazing place to take a nap, and try as you might to forge ahead, you’re just too tired! You suppose that a quick nap won’t hurt, right? Wrong! By the time you wake up, it’s hours later - and your pack feels suspiciously light. Someone’s stolen your wallet! [Negative.]
B. You were right in thinking that this path looks quick - you get to the other side of the woods long ahead of your companions and have to wait, but hey, it’s worth it when they straggle out a few hours later and you get to rub it in their faces that they’re rotten grubsacks! [Tier 2 Reward]
C. The road is a super hard climb, but you feel a rush of victory when you reach the top! At least, until you look down and realize that the path down is hardly even worthy of being called that. You resolve to move carefully - everyone’s heard rumors of flarp games that turned lethal - but you still lose your footing and go tumbling down! You hit your head hard and pass out for several hours, and when you wake up, your pack feels suspiciously light. Someone’s stolen all of your food! [Negative] // Aegis Stat: You still lose your footing, but the blow at the bottom feels more like landing in a pile of soft pillows! You must be super buff, huh? Rah! As you get up, you spy a treasure chest waiting just off the path - you collect your prize, and then hurry to the rendezvous point. [Tier 1 Reward]
D. This path is largely uneventful, except for the few times you nearly twist your ankle on a paving stone… you’re definitely not going to tell the rest of the party about that! You’re nearly to the end of the path when you spot something glinting in the underbrush… it’s the buckles on some other traveler’s bag! Hah, your hunch was right! Pulling it out, it kind of looks like it’s been chewed on… You collect whatever valuables you can from the pack and then hurry away, not wanting to meet whatever fate that unlucky troll did. [Tier 2 Reward.]

After your scenic journey through whatever pathway you had selected, you find yourself in a looming cavern along with the other players. The room was chalked full of seemingly mystical artifacts, light flitting down to shine on the mad loot as Hazzan worked her clouder magic. The game grubs worked their own magic, and piles of weaponry, armor and intricate doodads flickered into existence.

A small purpleblood sat lazily draped over an indigo throne in the centre of the room, lolling her head as she gazed at a shimmering bow in her hands. You recognized her as Frossa, the girl who helped you get into costume, although in this session she was currently known as The Marksman. The crossbow glimmered with all colours of the caste system, and she lowered it and raised an eyebrow as she looked over at the approaching group.

"A~aahh!" The highblood kicked her toes, letting out a chortle of amusement. "It's been some time since I've seen any souls 'round these parts. I think I know why you're here!"

She slips off her seat to offer you each a map of the tunnel system near the Marksman's hide out, staying fiercely in character. "This will be of some use on your adventure. And while I'm feeling generous- why don't you take something you think would be of use?" The Marksman turns to gesture at the piles of mystical artifacts. Those who knew Frossa may have recognized the similarities between herself and the character she was currently playing, and they certainly knew that the likeness had just been cut short. "But just take one- no need to be greedy!" She smiled with ghoulish honesty.

What should you take? If you're especially observant you'll notice a transcription of a transmission from the Marksman's fallen friend...

[see thyPOPE's second post on the first page.]

Following the multicoloured map The Marksman had bestowed upon you, eventually you find yourself breaking into a cavern full of even more mad loot. The grubs buzzed as they generated piles upon piles of beetles and jewellery. This time the treasure lay unattended. Was this... was this the end? The 'pot of gold', so to speak...?

No one seemed to be stopping you as you wandered through the cavern. It seemed a little uneventful for the end, too easy, but whatever. The reward was ripe for the taking.

Time to dig in!

Roll a 1d10. Your result is on the table below!

If your dominant stat is vim, in a burst of energy, you can carry more SWAG! Add +3 to your total.

If your dominant stat is magyyk, you carefully select the trinkets you take. Roll 2d10, and choose the higher result.

If you successfully complete todays puzzle, you find yourself in the cavern just a little bit earlier than the rest of the other players and can grab more crap. Roll 2d10, and add the results together. This can be done in a second post later, if need be!

Quote:
If you rolled a 1... You fall flat on your face. You black out. Did you trip? Did someone push you? You don't even know what happened, but you only manage to grasp at a lone golden beetle. You swear you hear slow clapping.

If you rolled a 2... You don't notice a rip in the sizeable pockets in your costume, and everything you had been tucking away has subsequently fallen behind you as you dart around. Oops.

If you rolled a 3... You try and pile everything you fancy into a golden chest, without failing to realize you can't actually move the damned thing. Such wasted time and effort.

If you rolled a 4... Someone pushes you into a pile of treasure. It hurt- but mmm, treasure. You take a moment to writhe around in the gold before snapping back to task, jamming whatever you could find into your costume.

If you rolled a 5... You did wonderfully average. You didn't manage to grab as much as you'd hoped, but your stash was decent enough to leave you feeling satisfied.

If you rolled a 6... Treasure be damned, you're gunning for pure beetles! Favouring sacks over the loose piles of the things, you manage to tie a bunch together and hoist them over your shoulder, feeling rather smug with yourself.

If you rolled a 7... You didn't do so bad for yourself, scoring a few expensive looking trinkets and a few generous handfuls of gold. Look, a septer!

If you rolled a 8... You stand upon a pile of loot and loudly proclaim it as your own, fighting off all who near your newfound riches. It somehow works, and you stuff your pockets full.

If you rolled a 9... You find a lightweight, but sizeable wooden chest and smartly fill it with things that look expensive, but not too heavy. Clever you.

If you rolled a 10+... THE TREASURE IS ALL YOURS. You even got a ******** crown. You manage to somehow manage to fit more than your own body weight among your costume. Good job!

Regina, rather, The Superiat was now keeping an eye on both the trolls who took the same path as her. In her mind, it was the blueblood that had robbed her. She was pretty certain he'd thrown water balloons at her the first year, and something about him made her lip curl.

Releasing the anger she felt from knowing some landwiggler went through her pockets, she proceeded to climb on top of a pile of treasure and kick/hit/throw off anyone else who attempted to claim any for his or her own. At the end, she sat down in a corner, pulled off her hat, and stuffed it full. There. That would do.

Swarmpupa Freuudan

See? The correct path was always the more difficult one! Psykgi was very proud of herself.

”Don't mind if I do!” she said regally in response to the... purple... sort of... person? Of course, Swarmpupa was narcissistic. So...

She planted her stave in a pile and proceeded to survey it. ”This is mine.” she said, proceeding to sort through and gather goodies...
