Xatu walked very slowly, pausing when the injured had to pause. He hoped they'd have the sense to ask him if anyone needed a supporting shoulder, but he didn't want to alarm the young male by insisting on helping. The attempts from others to support him had just sent the youngster into a panic, and those were apparently lions he knew already. No, if they asked for any help he'd do his best to provide it, but for now he just walked behind them. Very slowly.
He started to hum a tune Nahmba used to sing to him when he was a tiny cub, before she took him back to the pride. It had always comforted him and it helped take his mind off how slowly they moved. It was actually almost painful, since he was used to set his own pace, but he was not in a position to complain.
Xefo was going to complain, and he didn't plan to ask permission first. At the moment his grumbling went unheard since he was so far above the group, but if one of the lions would have suddenly been gifted with wings and decided to fly up there they would have heard lots of cursing. The old vulture cursed the weather, lions in general, cocky rogues looking for trouble, slow moving lions, the rain, the waste of food, the silly lions and then he cursed for several minutes just for the sake of cursing. It almost looked as if the bird enjoyed his complaining.
When he was done he had reached the main pride, turned around and was soaring over the group again. He clacked his beak and then started over. Despite his enthusiastic complaining he was keeping an eye on the ground. Unlike his lion companion he could keep track of two things at once!

Finally got around to finishing the litter, sorry for the wait! Prizes are an Andhaka x Nolaka cub and an Umzingeli, Kaliforneum gets first choice :3.
