Twitch nudged Derrick as they walked along, after Cami snapped back. He chuckled. "Alright miss, sorry to have upset you." He bit his lip and went back to looking up dirt.
What he found was pretty boring. The guy, Donovan was a smart kid. He was in college, following all the rules. From his social media he could see he knew Piper well before him and Cami met. He wanted to know how that went sour, because she fled here so obviously there was a story there. He'd be sure to ask about that.
And Cambria, which was a gorgeous name, was a good girl true and true. Everyone loved her, teachers adored her. Nothing bad at all, not one red flag. She never acted out, she kept peace. She was not the kind to run away. Really, neither of these kids were. Something happened here and they needed every detail. Usually newcomers had some red flag, some last straw. This pair was looking for Piper, that's what they claimed. Pipers reasoning was legit though. She was born different. That's why she fled to the island of misfits. She was practically their reason for being before they even knew it. She was a key. Twitch knew that from the start.
They sat down in the circle and he watched as they got comfortable, or really uncomfortable. She looked like she wanted to jump out of her skin.
"Dude, it's pretty weird that they know Piper. He seemed to really know her." They had a few photos together on his account, which he showed to Derrick as he continued. "But they seem like perfect kids, man. No red flags. We need to know their story, thoroughly. They'd have some fake flag if they were infiltrators, surely they wouldn't send in picture perfect kids. That'd be suspicious. You know?" Twitch rambled a lot, but he figured that at least Derrick would know a little since he was clearly involved in this... Since Piper was.
"Has she ever mentioned these people?" He asked just as Nicolette strode in, of course taking her spot beside Gray. He had to chuckle at that, even though he felt a slight ping of jealousy...

Laughing as her butt hit the ground he bent down to help her up and smiled. "You do. But some don't really follow that rule. And Derrick is kind of a straight laced rule follower. I find it commendable, but its good to be bad," He gestured to Piper with a smirk, "you know, sometimes." Grinning he put his hands into his pockets. "I think it's an amazing skill to lay low. One we need." He looked over her face and tried to read her. She had an amazing personality if not a bit reserved. "I like to think of myself as an amazing reader of people. I like your honesty and your respect and I will take your word for it and pass them through. That means you're responsible for them and you have to report in every week when you attend the meetings." He smiled. "Remember land over heart." He winked. "Now I must go in there and clear those poor folks so the boy can come see you." We'll get you a uniform. Remind Derrick not to be such a spoil sport next time." Nero walked into the house and down the stairs. "Actually come in and wait in my kitchen, I've got coffee. I'm sure the boy will be happy to see a familiar face."
It seems as he went into the basement everyone was chattering around the two new ones but they all stopped as he approached. Lowering himself down into his chair was difficult but he managed even if it was popping his spin a bit. "Now. Usually this is the part where I would ask you seemingly uninvasive questions that is actually me profiling you. Then this kid," He gestured to Twitch, "would work his magic to find out everything possible on you. Which he's probably already done to an almost stalker-ish extent. These guys, " Pointing to Nic, Nicolette, and Derrick respectively, "Are here to make you scared to tell a lie. And this, last but not least, is my right hand. He's planning to take over when I go. He'll probably immediatly disapprove of what I'm going to say but he can't do s**t because I'm still in charge." He pointedly joked at the tattooed man. Then cleared his throat and crossed his legs. All of the people in the room were absolutely confused.
"However. I have been informed you," Looks at Donovan, "Went to school with one of the young ladies on my island. She has put good faith in you two and I'm not really inclined to think she'd lie to me. So we are going to skip the scare tactics today and instead have a party. Welcome to the island. Have fun be free. And think about getting some more ink." His eyes zeroed in on the tattoo that peeked out from the bottom of Donny's shorts. He flashed back to seeing that on Piper's leg too. It may be a topic of great interest later.

Derrick was quiet after she attacked him back. She had fire he didn't see when she first got off the boat. He stayed silent as he sat close to Cami. Nicolette was shortly behind them, late as always. Something about that gilr pissed Derrick off. Maybe it was the way she hung all over Gray like a fly to rotting meat. He listened to all their conversations and seethed as he was accused of being wrapped around anyone's finger. Then he zeroed in on Twitch talking to him. "Piper and me never talk. We ********. I play guitar and we ******** and then I go to my room and she sleeps in hers. We have this mutual agreement to not ask. And it works for me." He could see Donny listening to his words. Hanging on to every single one. Derrick watched as the boy's face changed to a darker and darker shade of red as he spoke. He knew Donny wanted to say something to him. But just as he opened his mouth Nero came in and a silence came over the room.

Twitch jumped up at the same time Gray did, only this time he let him speak. "Sir, with all due respect there's a lot we don't know here. I mean, I like Piper as much as the next person," And he knew her somewhat well since he was the only one of the five that was really close to Derrick. "But there are holes-" Gray interrupted him now.
"I'm sure they aren't trying to take over or anything, I mean that's a riot." Grayson laughed, sizing Donny up.
"And there's no red flags, but to skip the interrogation all together is naive." Twitch brought his hand to his mouth, sighing. "My apologies sir, it's just not protocol." He cleared his throat, his hand ran across the tattoo on the left side of his head.
He turned to the pair, who looked shocked. "What we mean is welcome to the island. Nicolette usually shows people around, she's best at it."
"I'll accompany her today." Gray piped up, joining the bandwagon after getting that look from Nero... Clearly it didn't matter what they thought. He was over riding them.
"Okay, so they'll take care of you guys and then there will be a mandatory feast in honor of your arrival. You look like you need showers and such, so don't worry. We're not the savages your people think we are." But in the back of his mind, Twitch knew he'd be keeping a close eye on the pair and now, Piper too.

After Nero entered the room, Nicolette sat and listened. The boys were arguing, but Nero was having none of it, he simply made his call. And based on the word of that new girl that was shacked up with Derrick. Interesting. Apparently, she had his ear. That somewhat didn't sit right with Nicolette. She didn't say anything though, until her name was brought up. Daddy makes the calls and everyone follows along, that was the glory of being the leader.
"It's nice to meet you both, sorry I was late." Nicolette, who was dressed in a short dress covered in skulls and high heeled wedges, strutted over to the pair, who stood up as she was the first to directly approach them.
"Gray and I will get you into a temporary place to stay, something with a warm shower and maybe a snack, you look dreadfully starved dear." She touched Cami's arm gently. "We'll also get you some clothes and such for the party, get you introduced and hopefully prove we aren't, as Twitch said, the savages you've been raised to think we are." She smiled, now checking out Donny. With him on his feet, he didn't look near as timid and small. In fact, he was kind of attractive in an innocent kind of way. Gray came up behind Nicolette, gently touching the small of her back before reaching out to shake Donny's hand.

Oh, it went smoothly for sure. Nero was skipping the whole thing! He didn't think it was necessary because some Piper b***h, who was new herself, vouched for them. It was a joke. But Gray knew they could only push so hard, and Nero wasn't fighting but it was clear the choice was made.
The call was done.
He relented, listening to Twitch do the same. They'd talk later, he'd want all the details Twitch had. Just because Nero was backing down, didn't mean they were to be trusted. Twitch was right, something didn't add up here. And Derrick could be getting himself into the center of it.
Even though, when he said that bit about ******** her and that's it, Gray liked him, if only for the passing moment. Other than that, he wasn't a fan of the broading guy.
He walked up to Nicolette now, touching her to get the little rise out of her. She looked so damn hot right now, it was hard not to. All her ink was on display, as it usually was. He could tell Cami was in awe of everything, but especially her.
"I'm really looking forward to finding out how you know Piper, Donovan." He reached out, shaking the kids hand. "I'm sure Derrick over there is too." He chuckled before nodding at the stairs. "Time to show you out." He lead the pair, including Nicolette up the stairs, allowing Donny to go first, followed by Nicolette, then Cami. And Gray took the chance to check her out a little better as they walked into the kitchen...

denying every tear. I wish this would be over now. But I know that I still need you here.

Cami had been trembling for ... nothing? The head guy came in, announced they were free to join the festivities. And despite the argument from the group, everything proceeded from there. Twitch, at least she thought that's what they called the mohawk styled man, with the head tattoos... Anyways, he was talking to them about what their day would consist of. A party? For strangers? That they were skipping the normal interrogation for. Apparently Piper had a voice around here. Great, she thought. Something else to make her far better than Cami was.
She stood when Nicolette, all legs and tattoos, came over to them. She was telling Cami specifically that she looked awful and needed a shower and probably a make over. They were clearly two different people, very different. "Thanks. That'd be nice. The time spent on the ocean was rough." Cami tried to force a smile. Grayson came over, she felt his eyes pierce through her, she couldn't even focus as he spoke. Her eyes kept searching his bare skin, it was like he was this beautiful canvas. Nero had said something about more ink, and the more she stared, the more tempting it sounded.
They looked gorgeous. All of them.
She followed Nicolette up the stairs, and paused when she heard a girls voice at the top of it, causing Gray to knock into her.
"Everything alright?" He nudged her forward, and she came face to face with what she hadn't realized was her nightmare. Piper was here. And she had been holding a cup of coffee.
Now, she thought Nicolette was a looker. But Piper had nothing on her. She was gorgeous. All curly hair and dark skin. No wonder he couldn't let her go. Maybe Cami had only seen one photo, but she couldn't forget that face.
The future that we hold is so unclear.,
But I'm not alive until you call. And I'll bet

Piper was shocked at Nero's words. He trusted her. He wanted her on their team. She was to get a uniform and everything. Because... She was caught snooping. This was crazy! She was accepted, and trusted. He was going to let them go. Let them into the society. They'd have a party. So many mixed emotions ran through her. All Piper said was thank you. Then suddenly she was following him back to the house.
He said he'd be happy to see a familiar face.
She was going to see him.
Donny. Piper was going to see Donny for real.
Piper had just made herself a cup of coffee when the footsteps started up the stairs. She turned, looking from across the room as Donny stepped through the doorway. The cup slipped between her fingers, crashing to the floor.
"Oh!" She screamed. But her eyes didn't flutter downward, they locked on Donny's face. It was really him. He was here. Right there. So close.
The last time she had seen him... She was leaving him. Or he left her really. Angry. He was so mad at her, he hated her. But now he was here. For her. Her heart was racing. She hadn't even realized she'd cut her big toe when the glass shattered.

Donny was seething. This big brute had had his hands all over Piper and he had the nerve to call it "just ********". Now they had messed around for sure but nothing with Piper was toned down like that. Just ******** was something you did with whores that weren't to be cared about and a man should never talk to a woman like Derrick was talking about his....er this woman. As Donny sat on the couch just mad he awaited this interrogation. He wanted to rip into each and every one of these guys.
And then...nothing. This was a big anti climactic mess. Donny was sitting here ready for s**t to hit the fan and the old man came in and told them they were free to move on to the next stage. The head tattoo guy began arguing but really it was no use. The boss had spoken and he made it clear to the second guy that he wasn't dead yet and no one could override him. Donny had never seen a man with such respect as this Nero had. It was amazing. Not even the republic leaders had tis much real and raw leadership.
Donny grinned and thanked Nero and allowed himself to be lead into the kitchen where he stopped dead in his tracks. Not even flinching at the cup crashing to the ground. "Piper." He said softer than he's ever spoken to anyone. "You're...you're..." He looked down at her feet. "You're bleeding!" He exclaimed walking through the shattered ceramic to get to her. He bent down to get a good look to see if anything was lodged in her toe and then moved to find a towel to wrap around her toe but by the time he turned around again the ******** Derrick was already bent over wrapping it whispering something to Piper and giving Donny a pointed stare and backing up.
Donny turned to Piper and instantly wasn't mad anymore. "You're here. Thank god you're here...and alright. I've been looking for you for weeks. It's been an intense cross country thing. And oh my god. You know how I hate bees? Well I ******** got stung by one like a couple days ago and it wasn't as bad as I used to make it out like it would be. And..." Donny realized he was talking a mile a minute about absolutely nothing relevant. He turned bright red and bit his lip. "It's really good to see you."
He looked over and saw Cami and gasped. He motioned her over. "Erm Piper, this is Cami. Cami....Piper."

What Nero had to say enraged everybody in the room. Everyone including Derrick. He wanted to lay into this Donovan character. Really get him scared and work him up. He was threatening his balance with Piper and the team. The arrival of someone who knew Piper's backstory was going to shake up his life and he was already in the middle of a huge deal on the island. This was a big thing. Newcomers didn't used to be so big but as the Rebellion got stronger so did their defenses and this close to a revolution meant they couldn't take any chances. But here Nero was...trusting a newcomer to welcome the newcomers. Had his mind gone mushy? Was there something wrong with his brain? "Sir..." He began but Twitch was already on it. "We can discuss this after their party. Elite 5 and Derrick and our special guest Piper are going to be invited to the board room. Now. No more on the subject. I'm getting a migraine of the century and I need a nap before the party." As he moved off upstairs ahead of everybody Nicolette and Gray descended on the two like wolves. They were already up in their faces and Derrick didn't want any of it. He moved up the stair alone to see Piper sitting there. He gave her a pointed "we'll talk later" stare and moved to the corner of the room.
As soon as Donny was up the stairs it seemed like a million things happened at once and Piper's cup fell from her hands in slow motion. Derrick could already tell before anyone she was hurt. He ran to the medical supply box and rolled his eyes at how stupid Donny sounded. When he came back he sat Piper down and began wrapping her toe. "What the hell are you doing here? You're supposed to be at work. And what did you say to Nero? We need to talk at home later. There are somethings you just threw yourself into you need to be prepared for. Just in the meantime remember land before heart."

Piper caught Derrick's eye as Donny rushed to her aid. He was wrapping her toe with a nearby rag, and Derrick was grabbing actual supplies. It was just a tiny cut really. The ceramic barely touched her, really. They were over reacting. And Donny was rambling, it was so cute. And everything was happening at once. Her breath caught when Derrick came to her ear. His proximity, her eyes closed, she could see flashes of them together. And Donny was here. And everything felt so crazed.
"I- This is too much. Derrick I-" She looked between Derrick and Donny who had Cami at his side now. She stumbled over her words, ran her fingers through her crazy hair, then looked down at her bandaged toe.
"It's nice to meet you, Cami. Really. Sorry for the circumstances. But it's erm. It's really great." She forced a smile, then her eyes fluttered back to Donny. What was she supposed to do here? Hug him? She turned to Derrick, "I was on my way, when I saw what was going on... Then I recognized Donny. And I followed you guys. Nero came to me. It's all a really short story, confusing. But short. We're sort of initiated so you can thank me later. Don't be such an a**--" She stopped short as he reminded her the islands mantra. Land before heart. She instantly turned to catch Donny's eye. Her breath hitched.
Nicolette, who was smirking, and Gray, came to take the pair off to do their thing before the party.
"I guess I'll see you later tonight." Piper said, looking at Donny before they left.

Cami was staying back, avoiding the scene all together. She stood beside Gray, who was next to Nicolette. Nicolette was cracking up at the scene, running her mouth. But Cami hardly noticed, she was staring blankly at Donny as he helped Piper. He was rambling to her, nervous. It was so cute, but she was searing with jealousy. Then Derrick was freaking out over her too. And she was being dragged over to say hello. Donny finally remembered she existed and yanked her over. She nodded, "Hello. Good to finally meet the girl I've heard so much about." She stumbled in response, which Cami just awkwardly took. Cami nodded, then Piper was explaining to Derrick, who she seemed to live with. Nicolette and Gray were trying to get them to leave though, and Piper awkwardly said goodbye to them. This was clearly not how anyone expected this to go. Least of all Cami. She thought they'd run into each others arms all romance style and fall right into love. But somehow... This gave her hope.
"Come on, Donny. Apparently we have a party to prepare for. And I am still dying for a shower." She hooked her arm through his, pulling him gently.

Derrick did not want to give up Piper so readily. He might have called it just ******** out loud. But only him and Piper knew it was possibly something else. They were friends that was for absolute certain and they had many benefits including stress relieving. And he wasn't ready to give it up to a republic guy with no back bone and his soulmate already on his arm. He listened as Piper explained his situation but he needed all of it so they could figure out how to proceed. When she told him not to be an a** he rolled his eyes. "Oh you know me. That's like telling Donny not to be a p***y. Utterly impossible." Derrick could see Donny lunge at him but he was silently and forcefully held back by Nic. "Go get showered and presentable republic boy." He sneered and stormed out the back entrance of the house.
He walked all the way home. This kid had everything yet he came to ******** find a girl that wasn't even his match. This was the reason why he moved here. The system was flawed. It didn't work. It created the illusion people were in love because of a ******** birthmark but how many people on average were actually happy? Derrick couldn't see very many.
He slammed into his house and went to pull out a joint out of a cigarette box. He always kept a stash just in case and right now he needed it.

Donny was not impressed by the macho man touching all over his girl. Now he couldn't decide if it was Derrick touching all over Piper or Gray all over Cami but he was pissed. And to top it off Derrick called him a p***y. He'd show him who the p***y was. He lunged forward to rip the taller more muscly guy but was caught midway by the silent frowny one. There were no words from the guy which made it scarier and worse. He just stared like he was staring into his soul. Donny stopped and planted his feet an paid no more attention the a** with legs. "I will definitely see you later. Pink really is your color." He grinned and allowed himself to be lead away by Cami.
When they were outside Donny turned to Nicolette. "Is that Derrick dude always that intense?"

Cami Evangeline Hendrix ───────────────────────────────────────────────────── For months on end I've had my doubts,
denying every tear. I wish this would be over now. But I know that I still need you here.
But when you call me baby, I know I'm not the only one.You've been so unavailable.
Now, sadly I know why. Your heart is unobtainable.
Even thoughLord knows you have m i n e.
Cami stood around, close to Donny the entire time. Everything felt so strange. The island was nice, they were welcomed by the leader with open arms, mostly because of Pipers request. Which meant she was valued here. And she was so pretty. Everyone was so pretty here. And happy. Maybe it was all the sun and ocean air. Derrick and Donny were obviously not going to get along, and watching them both fawn over Piper hardly seemed fair. But Cami managed to smile through it, as always. Even when Donny commented on how attractive pink made Piper look. Which was a reference to her bra...which was peeking out just above her tank top. Which would not have been presentable back home, but the rules were obviously different here.
"Go get showered and presentable republic boy." Derrick said before he left.
"Well that was awfully rude of him." Cami sighed, rolling her eyes. Piper sneered at her before waving to Donny and going to follow Derrick out the back.
"He isn't always the most friendly. You'll have to excuse him." Nicolette said, laughing lightly. Gray placed his hand on the small of Cami's back to nudge her forward, towards the front door. Then slid his arm around Nicolette's waist to follow the pair outside. They were taken to an empty house nearby, where they were given some sweats to change into and towels to shower.
"There's two bathrooms. One on this floor and one upstairs. Help yourselves. Then we'll go shopping and grab some party clothes, and a few things to get you guys started. For now, this will be your home. Until we can get you into the permanent housing." Grayson explained before leaving them on their own. Nicolette and him went to make some sandwiches, because they'd obviously be hungry.
"So," Cami spoke up, holding an armful of clothing and fluffy towels. "I'll take the upstairs one and meet you back down here, I guess." She shrugged before turning on her heels, not quite walking off just yet.
