constellation sensationThe stars and the sky were, indeed, fantastic. She could get lost staring up at them for quite some time, but what she found more fascinating at the moment, was this facet of Chance. Her eyes slid from the sky to study his face instead. Easy going cavalier Chance...focused and sounding enthused. She blinked, surprised, as his hand left her wrist and instead wrapped around her shoulders. She glanced at his arm then back at his face, scanning his eyes. Her voice was soft, as to not break the trance he seemed to be in. "Is it the mystery?" She questioned.

It took a few minutes for the cashier to ring up everything, and he gave both Chance and Claude semi-curious looks before apparently shrugging. Chance twisted around to look at Claude, eyebrows raised in amusement as he tugged his wallet out of his back pocket and extracted a card.
"Are you volunteering?" he asked with amusement, passing the card over.

looking up restaurants makes me hungry
Chance took a big bite of his fish, savoring the taste, which was definitely better than just a regular old MRE. He did, however, keep his foot where it was, on Claude's lap, because he was just such a great friend like that.
"Gimme a bite of your spaghetti," he said, reaching a fork towards her plate.

He liked how serious she was taking this, because it was a very nice thing to see her this focused on something. Granted, Chance had seen her focused on a lot of things, but somehow this was more amusing, and somewhat endearing, especially considering the nature of the purchase.
A smile spread across his face.
"Good," he said, and reached up, fingers curling around the brim to yank the hat down over her eyes to be obnoxious.
"It looks good on you."

He rested his arm on his knee with his chin in his hand and eyed her quietly.
"Little things, no," said Chance. "Not really. Little things are just that - little. They're not really worth getting upset over."

"It's everything," said Chance, still staring upwards. His voice had grown quieter, almost reverent in its tone. "It's just...there's so much from them, y'know? They're these mysterious things, these majestic lights and they all have stories behind them, as crazy as that sounds. It's just..."
He took a breath and finally turned to look at her, his face flushed with excitement.
"There's just something endless and eternal and beautiful about something like that," said Chance. His arm tightened around her shoulders as he drew her nearer, adrenaline in his veins. The grin on his face was childishly excited, youthful in its glee.
"Can I kiss you?"

If there was one thing Chance did really well, it was verbally banter with her. He was quick witted. She ignored the clerk, and just looked at Chance with a small smirk. "I do have French in my line." She stated matter of factly.

"Keep this up, and you won't get dessert." She clucked her tongue as if commenting about a spoiled child, and pushed her plate towards him. Since he was making a grab at hers though, it was fair game to go after his. She leaned and cut into a piece of fish with her fork.
She also didn't mind his foot on her lap. She dealt with it.

Claude made a soft sound when he pulled the hat down over her eyes. She pushed it back up with a finger, quirking a brow at Chance before she took it off her head. She stared at him for a moment.
"I know." She smirked, and moved past him, taking the hat to the counter to pay. Though she didn't express much on the outside, inside she was incredibly pleased. It was a simple item wanted on a simple whim, but she felt utterly content with it soon to be in her possession. She almost thought she'd have to wait another month to go hunting on another island.
She made the purchase, and passed on the bag. She'd be wearing it out.

"Do you find being upset unpleasant?" This game was interesting. The sky felt like the limit. She was trying to make a pool out of an ocean.

constellation sensationShe didn't look back at the stars, and kept her gaze on his face. She listened quietly, not wanting to interject or ever ask anymore while he spoke. She wondered if she was as passionate about anything like he was about stars. She loved piracy and everything related, but she questioned if she held the same reverence that Chance held. Claude was pulled from her thoughts when she felt his arm tighten around her, and she shifted her stance to accommodate the action. His question was something of a surprise. "You won't see the stars though." She commented softly. Claude found it somewhat silly, but endearing, if not considerate that he asked, despite what happened already "Sure."

"Mean," said Chance, though it was without much heat behind it. He wound a long string of spaghetti around his fork and leaned partly over the small table to not spill it as he transferred it to his mouth. There was a satisfied expression on his face as he chewed, reclining easily back in his ********. I wish we could take some of this stuff back to the island with us. Like this whole restaurant."

He gave her a slightly startled look and then burst out laughing, planting his hand palm-down in the sand and squishing it wetly between his fingers.
"I hadn't thought about that, actually," said Chance, sounding amused as he shook his head, tracing an outline of the star with his finger. "But yeah, I guess I do."
He wrinkled his nose. "Being upset at all is so much effort."

He rolled his eyes and stuck out his tongue at her, just like a petulant four year old might, but it was all done in good fun. Claude was getting what she had come here for, and that was good enough, especially considering that it actually hadn't taken all day for it to happen.
Plus it really was a cool hat.
"You look bitchin,'" was Chance's eloquent response as they left the shop. "Like you could go and kick some serious pirate a**."

He looked amused.
"Well, then," said Chance, reaching out a hand to take back his card, sliding it into his wallet. He stuffed that back into his pants and then reached for the offered bag of supplies, slinging it casually over one shoulder as he slipped his other hand into his pocket.
"I can't speak French, but I can draw it, apparently," he joked.
