It was an immediate boost, hearing that she had helped. Absolutely beaming, Menolly moved to the side to show off the already done carrots, "Already done!" With the request completed, she went to washing her knife ready to put it away or go on to the next thing.

The kitchen was starting to smell even better with the herbs just being chopped. Once it started cooking things would be even more heavenly. "I adore how cooking lights up the kitchen, the smells are so comforting!" Not exactly a big eater herself, the connection came mainly from taking care of others and the fun of just cooking with another. When the communication is in sync it can be so much faster and more fun. Certainly not likely to be a food fight like with her brother that one time. Just the thought brought a giggle out, not that any sounds of joy could hide very well with her.

He is surely hog-tied and gagged somewhere to keep him from talking no doubt XD

Good, she was laughing. The depression passed, he cut up the rest of the herbs to put in a bowl with a dash of water. "Cooking itself never interested me as much as the outcome. Different types of food provide different kinds of nourishment. Simply by changing food types and preparation can give you more energy or relax you or make you heal faster. For example rabbit doesn't have a lot of fat to it, carrots are good for digestion and potatoes are filling in low quantities."She taught him something, so he'd return the favor. Very gingerly he placed the rabbit meat into the pan, then started spreading the herbs over every inch of it. "Can you get the heat rag? Its on the counter right behind you."

[quote="EvilSilverDragon] @.@ I just researched each of those things, then pulled out the info which he'd actually be able to know. Like no one would know what potassium is or does XDDD

Sharing a story from when she was younger, Menolly relayed, "I always loved the act of cooking. I used to help in the kitchen all the time. This one time my twin and I were baking and the flour." Her story was cut off as she tried valiantly to control the laugh that was bubbling up. The story was so funny, he'd understand if she could get through it. Taking a deep breath she handed him the heat rag he requested and finished, "He got flour on me, so I returned the favor. Our dad walked in and really got hit. It was so funny to see his blonde hair white! His expression was priceless" Not that her dad was old, or that white hair meant anything badly, of course.

It was just an awesome memory. "He even said 'it was bound to happen eventually.' Not mad at all!" There wasn't a time in her life she could remember her daddy mad. He seemed upset with Sunny but other than that once he was always cheerful and nice to everyone. She was a lucky girl, to grow up with such nice and loving parents.

"To this day, the smell of baking bread or cookies just feels like home."His way of seeing things was certainly not wrong, they just had different associations. In truth she never thought much about what the food did for the body, but more on what it did for the family and the heart.

Listening to her story, it was fairly easy to picture the memory as she did. Except the brother and father in the story were mostly blobs as he had no image of them to go off of. There was mention however of blond hair of the father...

He froze, body simply automatically taking the rag from her as he stared. She was an angel like Kurt with patches of stars. Blond hair, similar pointed personalities. His friend mentioned he had children.

It was an impossibility, how could he know his dear friends daughter simply by bumping into her in a City filled with pae? "Menolly, what's your fathers name?" He'd put this to rest right here and now.

She paused when she heard his question. He'd always been Dad or Daddy, it took a little bit of time to really think about it. What had she heard others call him? "I think his name started with a C or K? I've only ever called him Dad, its been a long time since anyone used his name that I can recall." Rubbing the back of her head in embarrassment she looked ever so sorry that she couldn't answer his question properly.

Even now she could see him clearly in her mind but his name eluded her. It was probably childish, not to know your own parent's name. Somewhere in the cobwebs she recalled her dad getting mad because her older sister stopped call him dad. That was probably where it came from.

She...didn't know?

How could she NOT know?!

The fact that as a seemingly intelligent pae able to remember different types of food which can regrow from being cut, could not remember the name to a pae who gave her life and raised her...it was mind boggling. Had he misjudged her? Was she truly more of a blank slate with little spots of intellect? It hurt his brain trying to get his mind around it.

What a frustrating conundrum. If he had invited his friends daughter in, cozily cooking with her...If the positions were switched he'd kill Azure for less. "You...don't know." With a deep inhale to slowly exhale, he let go of his momentary frustration with the subject at hand. There was nothing she could do about it, so by extension there was nothing he could do. Getting frazzled solved nothing except delay their meal. If he continued to see Menolly in any capacity, he'd surely eventually meet her father. If or until then, he'd simply have to keep the utmost professionalism with her. "Alright. Back to where we left off then." He turned to the roast with his heat rag to pick it up and carry it to the fire. Then, very carefully, he slipped it right inside the burning embers and fed another log into it.

Menolly admitted, "Its been many seasons since I've seen any of them. The whole isle was floating last time." It didn't feel that long, simply because she'd been in stone sleep for large chunks of it. Maybe if she could see him again it would all click? The names of her siblings were easy, even her mother's name storta stuck. There was no fretting about it now, she'd find him again some day.

Could she find Wolfwood? Would it matter if she could? After so long the low pangs were almost there but really anymore.

Without complaint she went back to assisting him. There was a thought, if she described her father would Raken know him? How awesome would it be if he could tell her where to find her father? She'd have to ask eventually.

Yes, the floating isle. It had been so long since then, more time had passed with it grounded than he was on it floating. It made her forgetting names more of a possibility, but the fact that it was her father still made it little to no excuse.

"I never thought I'd miss Headquarters when it was there. Suppose I believed it wasn't ever going anywhere." Tending to the fire for a moment more with pushing out the burnt out logs and replacing new tinder and logs, he turned to his new angelic acquaintance. "There's not much more to do than wait. Would you like that seat now?"

That place was truly a wonder, "Do you know what happened to it? That something so amazing just stopped existing is just strange. Maybe the waning faith in the Guardians?" It did make its own kind of sense, the only way the Headquarters's existed had to be a Blessing from the Guardians. As the isle lost faith in the Guardians taking away the Blessing was only natural.

"It is probably why this place feels more like home, the City still has the Blessings."
Some of them, the fridge full of any type food was still very neat. It made everyone have to be self reliant.

His offer was accepted joyfully, "I'd be happy to, do you have a seat preference?" It wouldn't do to take his favorite seat so she waited to see where he was going to sit before taking her own rest.

"There was a storm...A horrible storm. Multiple. The weather seemed chaotic, unlike I've ever seen." He sighed softly and placed the rag on the counter. This was a conversation to be sitting down for indeed. "I only have two." He spoke dryly, a hint of a smile. With that he walked into the adjoining living space where true enough had two plush seats next to a table. His furnishings were very sparse. A small book shelf with books, the chairs, tables, a fur rug and a few candles. He didn't entertain much, and he was a simple pae with simple pleasures. The demon slid into one of his seats.

"I can only fathom because of the Guardians. Must be why the isle fell. Something is going on." What exactly he didn't know, but he knew his deed to the faun homebase was only the beginning. "It's obvious those...faun types aren't in the Guardians favor. I can't imagine naiad's are much better to them." But the fauns appearance happened after the island fell. He was sure of it. Something as peculiar as a new type of pae didn't go unnoticed for long. "For now, the City is safe and secure. But the faun aren't going to take what I have done lightly. I feel a war may be on the horizon." War. A concept he only knew in books. It was unsettling for him, thinking of his family below. A few of them could rise to the challenge, but so many were too gentle and kind hearted for battle. And children had just been born. "And when it does...I fear no where will be safe."

A storm? That certainly felt like it could have been done by the Guardians. It would be the wrath on level with their awe-inspiring powers. Just what had the isle done while she slept in stone to earn such a fate? It had to be more than just not believing. With her thoughts swirling, Raken's remark anchored her back to the place at hand.

Giggling she stated, "That makes it easy." After he sat she made herself comfortable. Personal preference was to be as close to Raken as possible. The room itself was nice, there was no disparaging the simple nature of the dwelling. She greatly preferred intimate to opulent. As she made herself comfortable, she crossed her ankles settled slightly to the right with her hands in her lap one on top of the other with her full attention on the demon in front of her.

He agreed with her theory of the Guardians. Though nodding her agreement as to something going on, a matter of what was beyond her. The thought was scary enough, reflexively she folded her wings closer to her body. They couldn't protect her but the pressure was soothing.

It has hard to disguise the horror she felt the more he spoke. A look of deep concern fell when he spoke of what he had done to the tree. Compassion gripped her stronger than her vice-like wings. Had he harmed any of the children? The Tree was their home, from what she had been told.Flashing through her mind were images of a nursery blown up, babies crying out in the smoke and blaze. There was no word for it but horrifying.

Questions as to why he did it froze in her throat, there was no pulling them out. At the moment all she could do was dumbly nod to his last statement offering a small sound of affirmation.

Certainly, Harmonia could use a visit to her Champion, she so missed him during the investigation.

OOC: Oh, of COURSE! Saying his name shortly after a parade for him and that he can't leave the city isn't enough, but a vague 'what ive done to the faun' makes it click to her rofl

BIC: "I don't regret what I've done. If not me another would have done it, and justice had to be served. But I regret what it will turn into." He spoke softly, catching how she tensed at the mention of his deed. Some pae praised him, others loathed him. He didn't like to dwell on what he'd say to some family members when finally reunited.

"...I don't typically answer questions about it, but if you have any now would be the time to voice them. I'll answer to the best of my abilities." Some confidential things he'd have to keep to himself, but he truly would answer what he could.

ooc: Not quite but almost. Lets just say the jigsaw puzzle is almost making a picture. The train of thought went 'did to faun' 'war?' 'oh the tree blew up. Tree go boom is the biggest thing she heard of. Train isn't quite in the station just yet.

IC: "The tree was blown up....if all the faun lived there, were the babies somewhere else?" There was little stopping her as she continued forcing the horrifying thought out to get rid of it, "A nursery could have been where the tree exploded.." The thought was absolutely the worst thing she had ever thought in the history of thoughts. Adult faun could make their own choices, babies were blameless.

Horror and compassion painted a picture with her expression but they were the only emotions. No hate, anger nor blame touched the canvas.

OOC: rofl

BIC: "...I don't know. I wish I did." As he clasped his hands in front of him, he looked down at them. Better that than the horror on her face. "I didn't choose the bombs location. And I don't know how faun society works. The innocent faun are the one thing I try not to dwell on. It was a message to the wrong doers, and regrettably the innocent were lumped in with them." He slowly breathed in and out, his mind flashing with images of that day. The fire, the wood splintering. "...Better me take that burden though than another."

He didn't choose where to put the bomb? Wait..bomb? It was Raken, the little bits she'd heard here and there were about him. It made sense why he couldn't leave now. For all the good reasoning, most must see him as a Monster. The thought helped to melt the horror and enforce the look of compassion and empathy. This had to be terrible burden for him to carry on his own.

Reaching out, she touched her hand lightly to his forgetting her own feelings on the matter for now. She even loosed her wings to visibly appear more relaxed, "If the Guardians chose the spot, then it had to be for the best reasons. Most impact for the least harm." Her belief in the Guardians was unshakable. Just as firm was the belief that the Guardians were not cruel.

They would never order their follows to butcher children, it just wouldn't happen!
