June 14th, 2016: Zero Omega Nenanah Misc I've asked in the past about the gray area surrounding the onsite advertising rule in the aquarium forum. Some people say it's ok to post linked images while others say that it is not, some people have received messages from mods in the past that gives conflicting answers. In this thread it says that all linked images are not allowed however I been told that it's ok if the pictures are small, some are saying that all linked images are not allowed at all... It's really confusing for myself and others. You said that you were going to clear this up but still there hasn't been any revisions or clarification made... When are you going to fix this confusing policy? It's something that we plan to address in the coming months along with a full on revamp of many of the forum rules and guidelines.

The first being that on the first of every month, it won't show you that you've already entered, which often results in multiple entries to people who don't frequent the forum. The other is that your vote count doesn't show up, leading many users who are either new to the feature or who don't hang out around the Runway forum to think that they aren't getting any votes at all. I understand if these glitches are difficult/may take time to fix, but in the meantime, would it be at all possible to get some kind of sticky put up in the Runway forum with a list of known issues? I know it won't cut down the number of confused people to zero, but I think it might perhaps help at least a little to clear up people's confusion, and if nothing else, would provide a handy place for the forum regulars to point others to when the questions come up. This is a great idea! I'll see if someone can get such a sticky made soon. Zero Omega Twisted Lady ForumsThe hot topics archive is a mess. There are no actual threads, but a ridiculous amount of subforums in the top menu. If you visit any of those subforums, you have to scroll 2/3 of the way down the page just to get to the actual threads. Could this possibly be cleaned up? I think it'd be a lot more functional to remove the subtopics menu and simply make threads on that forum with links to them instead, with the sub-subforums included. I mean, do we really need an easily accessible link to the Basement forum of the Frat Party 2012 mini event linked at the very top? This isn't something we'll probably address. The Hot Topic Archive is meant for just that, an archive of old Hot Topics we have that we may or may not use again. We leave them open to view for users as it contained all their old threads, otherwise we just normally hide these forums.

Do you guys have any intentions of bringing on new moderators any time soon? There has been a TON of spam and off site advertising that has been reported and sits there day after day. ( Art Discussion for example.) I feel that it might be necessary to bring on new moderators if there is such a backlog of reports. And while I get that training takes up resources it may be worth bringing on just a few more as it could make a world of difference. Perhaps not even new moderators, just some forum assistants. That may take up less resources as I feel like their training would be pretty cut and dry. We definitely do have plans to bring some more mods onto the team, so if you haven't applied, we definitely encourage you to do so! Hey Zero, thanks for getting back to me! Do you guys have any idea when the next time you'll be reviewing applications is? No ETA at the moment, but it's definitely something we want to get done.

Can someone fix up the rules to be a bit more clear? Its pretty clear that most LDers dont know what belongs in the LD any more, as many of the posts made there are moved to either the GD, CB, LI, or ED. The rules for all of those forums, including the LD are pretty similar in some area, which is why the LDs posts are getting moved to the other forums. We dont really know what is allowed to be posted in the LD without it getting moved Some forum rules have examples of what is and isnt allowed in their rule list, which also might help out in the LD as many posters seem lost on what is and isnt allowed; many have also abandoned making new threads due to the confusion Perhaps someone can add in examples of what is and isnt allowed in the LDs rules. For example, the GD rules say something like: Quote: Spamming isnt allowed. This counts as spamming: Quote: "spam spam spam spam spam spam spam" Also with, i believe it was the ED, they listed examples on where to post threads that didnt quite belong in the ED. For example, one could add: "Posts regarding advice towards life issues such as relationships, should be posted in the LI instead of the LD" to the LD rules Would someone be able to go over the LDs current rules and possibly add some examples of the posts that are allowed, as well as a few posts that arnt allowed, along with adding links to places the not allowed posts should be posted? We definitely plan to address the current LD rules, along with many other forum rules and guidelines, in the future as we know that a lot of them probably need changing.

Is this currently a "work in progress"? I've heard some mutters from FA's and Mods about it, but I'm wondering if there's anything we can do as a community to help or when we can expect the new rules. Still a work in progress! As for members, just using your community helps, we're trying to evolve the rules around how the community in various forums have evolved. Zero Omega Succubus Chiira Question Category: Features Why is it that Gaia disallows posts promoting illegal drug usage... but created a subforum, the name of which is explicitly an illegal drug reference? We actually allow people to have educational and mature conversations about illegal drugs and paraphernalia, what we don't allow are for users to promote the use of them.

We take things like account security, and site integrity seriously, which is why things like this have presently been prioritized over other updates like guilds and forums. So many people steal art from artists to use for their characters and it's really disheartening. Some of them even use pictures of real people and that's just creepy. It would be nice if there were rules about that. It's not hard to get permission from an artist or commission art yourself and there are also plenty of artists who offer their work for use without permission. We generally don't enforce people posting images of recognized characters unless we get a complaint about it from the rights holder, as the act is not directly harming the creator and enforcing such a rule would result in many people getting many images removed and add a lot of work to the team.

If the rules are a 100,000 byte limit they have to be that limit for everyone. Unfortunately not everyone knows about checking the file sizes and all that. Unfortunately probably not, as it would require us to download the image and we currently don't have a way to do that.

In the past when it's been done before it's gotten really bad... Also most of them seem to belong in CB lol We felt it would be a fun gesture for GCD and other areas on the site, we didn't have a mini-event forum set up for specifically this so we figured the next best place would be GCD. Sorry if it's a bit of an inconvenience, we do think the community ultimately does have fun with it though. It's not something that will necessarily be an often occurrence. Personally, I go through it and resolve any recolor bugs, whenever I have the time. But keep in mind there are a lot of artists not still with us, and it gets complicated to adjust their items~ Ok, in that case, how long should I go before I can repost? I've posted (on another account) twice within the past several years (I lost count of how many...) and still haven't been acknowledged. You can post every few months -- but again, if the item was created by an artist who's not around anymore, you're not going to get much response. We each reply to bugs on our own items, aside from some people who have enough experience to venture into other peoples items, and me, who pretty much only steps in to deal with problems that arise during the recolor process~ and be blue Narishia somtetimes due to the artist not being with gaia anymore is it a case of "s**t i dont know how to update this/what part would need to be updated?" or more of a "dang, dont know if they did this for a reason, better not mess with it" Me, personally? I look at it and go HOLY CRAP I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON WITH ANY OF THIS. Again, I mostly do recolors, so my item experience is p r e t t y l o w. But sometimes other artists look and are afraid to change because it would also change things people LIKE about the item. Take the vampire base faces for a perfect example -- I was a vampire for like ... 9 years, until VERY recently. The eyes/mouth drove me c r a z y. I wished items would remove them properly somehow so they wouldn't creep in there and mess up face mods. But many other users love the weird faces on vampires, and use them to make strange, new combinations. Is it really fair for us to "fix" the eyes/mouth, if then it breaks what users have been doing for the better part of a decade on that item...?

Some users are not aware that those links are there and some mistakenly file tickets to report those problems. This is something we'll take a look at as we look at site and page re-designs. From a technical standpoint that would be a very easy change though. People get worried they aren't getting any votes, or that their entries haven't been entered and then get even more worried when their gold/GC count keeps going down with every entry. I'm not sure how easy/hard these glitches might be to fix, but in the meantime, could we possibly get a sticky put in the forum with a list of known glitches? I think it would help a lot to have a place for people to look for for forum regulars to point people to whenever questions come up when the first of the month rolls around. It's not hard, I just keep forgetting to do this. I told Zello to remind me but clearly he failed. FAILED!!! I ask because while the busier forums like GCD, CB, Mini Shops, etc. are usually spam-free, some of the quieter ones (Art Discussion in particular) are almost always filled with spam. I know Gaia has some anti-spam measures up already, but there are always those few ads that get through. It's just kind of sad to open Art Discussion up just to see that, once again, it's like a 60:40 spam to actual post ratio. We definitely have plans to add more moderators! We're actually going to be running a training round shortly.

Can events no longer appear on this blink-and-you-missed-it page? sweatdrop The system actually will make a giftbox appear again shortly if it is missed, since many time one might simply click on something else before the box is loaded on screen. So hopefully you'll end up getting yours soon.
