October 11th, 2016: Zero Omega Nyadriel Misc. Not sure under which this goes. In the recent attack back during the last week of September, I was gotten by someone buying up stiff with botted gold. My trading pass locked the next day. Now been a week and I am still waiting for my tp to be unlocked. How far along are you in dealing with those of us still waiting to be attended to? Real question: Are there any plans to better prevention of this? I ask because I hear said person is gonna do it again. We're looking into the best way to prevent this happening in the future because we certainly do not want it becoming a common thing. We're still in the middle of the process but hope to be done soon, sorry for the inconvenience. So many people steal art from artists to use for their characters and it's really disheartening. Some of them even use pictures of real people and that's just creepy. It would be nice if there were rules about that. It's not hard to get permission from an artist or commission art yourself and there are also plenty of artists who offer their work for use without permission. We generally don't enforce people posting images of recognized characters unless we get a complaint about it from the rights holder, as the act is not directly harming the creator and enforcing such a rule would result in many people getting many images removed and add a lot of work to the team.

I have gotten the freeze on a $60 purchase before (but was a larger amount of GC thanks to sales). In the past Gaia had a system where first time buyers had their GC and items purchased with it frozen to their account for a time. Couldn't we just do that? We do not allow someone to pay to have their account unbanned, the only exception to this rule is if your account is banned for making fraudulent Gaia Cash purchases. If your account is banned for that, then we will allow you to pay back what you owe from the fraud (plus any applicable fees) and have your account returned to you. More specifically, I entered an av in today's Lunar theme, then found out that someone had made an almost exact copy of it (to the point I've already had several people tell me they thought it was my entry) and entered it as well, essentially not just stealing my design but also stealing my votes; I'd very much appreciate if there's someone who could look into that @_______@;; Please go ahead and file a ticket to our Help Center. I keep reporting people who are misplaced but I don't feel it does anything. November 22nd, 2016: Jak Bauer Canicuss RunwayI know somebody else asked this a couple of pages back, but I know a lot of people are concerned about the same issue. I'm sure tickets have been filed concerning this but it appears as if someone may have somehow found an exploit to enter the Runway multiple times in the same day with the same account. I certainly don't want to accuse someone of cheating but this is not a glitch that a lot of people are experiencing, it seems to be very user specific. Could someone please check to see how this is happening. I only ask because the ticket system is so backed up that if this is really an issue it could literally go on for months before it's fixed. Thank you! Which day for which contest do you see this in?

At the very least, it'd be reassuring to know that something is being considered or discussed, even if you can't specify what that something is... Yes it's my concern as well. We'll be implementing some countermeasures in the future, and on top of that, ask for moderator help. But first we will need to hire more mods as we are currently short on mod resources also. sweatdrop Narumi Misuhara Chrystal Liena Reports Is there any way the Hacking, Scamming, and Abuse/Harassment report links could be moved from the bottom of the forums page towards the top of the page? Some users are not aware that those links are there and some mistakenly file tickets to report those problems. This is something we'll take a look at as we look at site and page re-designs. From a technical standpoint that would be a very easy change though.

It happens with all captchas across the site, but I notice that it is most prevalent when voting in Runway. When voting on a mobile device, (and sometimes when posting as well), when a captcha comes up, a good portion of the time it will redirect you to another site that tries to trick you into installing viruses on your phone. Because it's on a mobile device, and because the bad captcha redirects you a million times, they can be tricky to report. Is there any way to fix this? Or are we doomed to be forever stuck avoiding certain features of the site while on mobile so as not to trigger these bad ads/captchas? We'd have to investigate and see why this is occurring on mobile. We could potentially temporarily disable captcha on mobile for Runway for now. Zero Omega Champiri ForumsAre there any plans to add some addition forum moderators, either volunteers or otherwise, to the site? I ask because while the busier forums like GCD, CB, Mini Shops, etc. are usually spam-free, some of the quieter ones (Art Discussion in particular) are almost always filled with spam. I know Gaia has some anti-spam measures up already, but there are always those few ads that get through. It's just kind of sad to open Art Discussion up just to see that, once again, it's like a 60:40 spam to actual post ratio. We definitely have plans to add more moderators! We're actually going to be running a training round shortly.

It's very bare bones & I think if we had a link to view the actual rules there will be less cheating. Sure. Check the Runway page again in about 10 minutes. Narumi Misuhara Dogoda Features I think we need a report avatar option for the forums, guilds, and runway. Sometimes when I report sexually explicit avatars to the mods the person with that avatar will change outfits so they get away with it. It's not fair, they broke rules they should be punished accordingly. With a report avatar button the avatar could be screenshotted by Gaia and sent to a report queue then it can be dealt with. Just to back up my claim further I suggest you take a gander at a few of these avatars from the Seven Deadly Sins runway ahem not all of them are bad but there are a few that really push it. Can you look into doing this? ...This is why we can't have nice things... ...yeah we can take a look this.

For this reason, often times I need to refresh until I don't get one of these sites. Is there anyway for the captchas to be better monitored to ensure these ads are taken out? I was close to filing a complaint with Paypal (as there was GC involved) when I did not hear anything back. I managed to learn that it can take up to a year to hear back about an account after some digging through the forums. Some way to know that our report has been accepted/seen/etc would be a great way to let us know that we're not just throwing out reports out to the wind. There's definitely something we want to do to consider bringing about more active information about the status of your report, but we don't have anything solid yet. We'll keep it in mind though!

February 7th, 2017: Lanzer 2sammygate games-kindredsomething nobody wants to discuss: caps. i hope everyone saw my big post on the thread that was linked in the staff alerts. if you guys bring back a cap, please make it a soft gold cap. and have it reduce the number of trees that spawn while increasing the frequency of seed drops, instead of cutting off tree spawns altogether. the seeds are beneficial because they sometimes give out rare kin. also, the 5000 game per day cap was to stop scripting. it is impossible for a human to hit. 3 battles per minute over 24 hours comes to a bit over 4000. no human farms that much. a 2500-3000 per day cap will only be hit by someone farming for 16 straight hours without stiopping, or scripting to get battles faster. those two caps combined can also stop a tree scripter. if they're getting literally nothing but trees after they've hit multiple soft caps, and they always get gold, the game should detect that and alert staff to investigate. I happen to just mentioned it, but I do wish to make a global gold granting system that manages gold grant across all features, and would automatically adjust for inflation. This way no matter if you're into LK, posting in the forums, or playing other games, you would still be earning a good amount of gold. That system would inherently have a soft cap. Meanwhile, anti botting measures will always be there for individual games. I'm still working out the details, and I won't have time to work on it until later this month, but it's one of the higher priority projects on my list. Lanzer clarion Features - RunwayI was wondering if we might be able to get at least some sense of where on the to-do list working on Runway's issues fell. There are a lot of problems right now and I think people are frustrated that there hasn't been much coming out about whether or not these things are being acknowledged and looked at. Just in a nutshell, we have -first of the month bugs -doubling of entries outside the first -rampant cheating -no report system I think people would feel a lot better about continuing to participate in the Runway if we knew that these issues were going to be fixed at some point, even if we have to wait until other stuff is worked on first. And also that some of the suggestions (like temporarily reducing/replacing the GC prize among other things that have been posted in the runway threads in SF) are being looked at and whether or not those things might be adopted or if we're barking up the wrong tree there. heart I'll go bug Narumi about it. The ticket system is broken on the user-side and frankly even people who submitted appeals months ago (mine was in August I think? Maybe earlier?) still haven't heard back. I know you're short staffed but customer service should be one of the biggest priorities for any company. I still feel the public responses to bans in a forum is unprofessional but it's clear that isn't changing. At least promise that other bans won't be treated in the same manner. We don't need our dirty laundry aired publicly as the ONLY way to get a ban resolved. We're working with our partners to get a resolution on the ticket submission side of things, we do have e-mails set up to allow for ticket submission. I understand that it's frustrating the queue is backlogged and our team is working as hard as we can to get through that backlog. The ticket system is the proper means to appeal any ban, we've made this public appeal for the name dropping situations in an effort to be transparent about things. If a ban was placed incorrectly, we're going to own up to that, if we feel that we should be showing leniency toward a ban now, we're going to allow that. We have no plans to extend this process for other bans in the future, however we still have a standing policy that for the sake of transparency, if someone does want to go into public (this thread being an exception to all of this) and claim an account was unfairly banned, we will go in there and take care of the case publicly, which includes admitting our fault if a user was unfairly banned. There's people out there who can say such horrible things and tell people to kill themselves, but if someone posts something that can come off as condescending or rude in forums they get reported and warned for their opinions when someone doesn't like it. I understand that I'm also prone to come off as condescending and rude, and have gotten warnings in the past for this, but such is the world these days you know? We do our very best to train our moderators to understand the difference between being rude, condescending and then crossing the line into abuse. The general rule of thumb I try to use is, "People are allowed to be rude, they are allowed to be jerks, so long as they aren't insulting other users." We probably won't ever stop being harsher on constant repeat offenders because there comes a point where you know the rules. Just allowing such behavior because "that's the world these days" I feel would be really poor reason to turn a blind eye to things. I understand that part completely, but people can and do try to change. I just had a warning recently and in it I was basically told the only reason I'm not getting a permanent ban is because my behaviour isn't as severe as it was in the past. To use myself as an example; people do change. And even though i got a warning for my actions? Being told that i'm not as bad as I used to be meant the world. It really did, it made my crappy night so much better that warning. I'm just asking maybe as a suggestion; try not to be as harsh on us repeat offenders if we show that we're trying to improve our behaviour please? And toss my thanks to Meromictic please? She really made my night better even if it was through a warning. Agreed and that's a philosophy we should continue to teach as we bring in new moderators. If we see that you are taking steps to improve, we should be doing what we can to recognize that. We're all human, we're going to slip up from time to time, but if we've gone out of our way to improve and have shown that improvement, then I think it's fair to also encourage that behavior by not being as strict as if you were doing things maliciously because you didn't want to, or didn't care, to try and change. If people feel that they were treated unfairly why can't they be investigated like the others who said his name? A lot of people were vocal about their distrust and how they didn't approve of him in SF a lot of people voiced these opinions without saying his name. Besides if there's a suspicion that people were unjustly banned in the first place who knows what other shady things he was responsible for, a lot of people feels like this isn't fair. Some have filed tickets close to a year ago to get their bans looked at and still nothing, they deserve equal treatment. Especially since Gaia has dropped the ball when it comes to the help center and tickets. The vast majority of bans that were placed in the three or so years that the old CEO ran the site were under policies that were no different than from when previous CEOs ran the site. The majority of our policies are policies that haven't changed since as early as 2006 when I joined the mod team. That isn't to say it's perfect though, I actually agree that there's always a time and place to review all our policies and make sure that they make sense for how the community has evolved. For example, in 2012 (I believe, it could have been 2013 or 2014), we redid our sexually explicit policy and made it more strict. We immediately permabanned anyone who posted sexually explicit content. A few years later when I took over the moderator team (which has, for the most part, stayed the same), they came to me and said, "We think this policy should be changed." Together, as a team, we reviewed the policy and made changes to it to be a lot more lenient than what it previously was. The reason why we're not reviewing bans in that thread unrelated to posting the old CEO's information is because the majority of these bans weren't because of policies the CEO put in place. Hope that makes a little more sense. Zero Omega Nanzzy-chan So, another week, still no proper answer on all the rampant glitches and cheating that plague Runway, I guess... Meanwhile, these people are still exploiting the system and going against the ToS, and racking up enough cash to buy Project tickets while at it; but I guess that's not a priority or anything emotion_facepalm I missed this question earlier, but we're aware of the abuse going on in Runway. It's clear that changes we made did not help improve the situation all that much so we need to take more drastic steps to try and address it, unfortunately that also means it's something that is going to take a lot more time to look into which means we have to prioritize it against everything else we need to do and address on the site. I'm an advocate of doing what we can to address the issues plaguing Runway, and I think others in office are too, so it's not something we plan on forgetting about. I am sorry to hear about the problems, and from a moderation stand point, we will do what we can to address individuals cheating the system.

In any case, I guess my question is: Is there any support for the concept of capping the number of any given item being dumped on any given day into the dumpster dive game, so that people could actually have a chance once in a while to get something new and exciting? EDIT: same item, all day long, from same user....fifth day. If there is actual evidence of users doing this for the sake of trolling the rest of the community, then it is something we can look into at least warning the user and asking them not to do it again. However, with no evidence we can derive intent from just an item dump. Is it more than likely a way to disrupt the community? Sure, but without hard evidence suggesting so, we have to act on the fact it is simply just an item dump. We'll need to bug Narumi to make some tweaks to Dumpster Dive to rid of the pesky single items. I was actually really excited about this item until I found out it gave me GG pasties on the female base. I really don't see why there was a point to adding those??? The 'skin' / body mod was exactly the same on both bases and could quite easily have been a welcome mod to give the female base a male body / chest. Many Gaians would LOVE to get MORE mods that give the female bases flat male chest mods, because some of us use the base because it is nicely slimmer than the bulky male base. We have MANY boob mods that give the male base cleavage, I don't see why it can't also be the other way around. If it's a problem of displaying 'nips' on the 'female' base, then just don't add them. I will go forward with this as a discussion point to the artists! Lanzer Juni Yosei Features • I've been dealing with people randomly adding me over and over again after declining their request and even telling them please not to add me anymore even though my add request thing is off. This however; doesn't work in flash spaces. Is there a way of stopping that aside from filling up my ignore list? I can probably add a flood control, especially for those who don't get invites accepted. Will look into it next month.

And few weeks ago, the community had got affected by the Kindred hacker for the umpteenth time. Can't you just IP ban that user?I'm aware that doing that will affect few who are in that area, but it's ridiculous that she keeps coming in every other month to cause chaos among us. Unfortunately IP bans aren't really effective as nowadays it is absurdly easy to access the site with a new IP. We are taking a look into what exactly is happening as simply banning the user won't fix the issue, and we've addressed some of our existing policies with regards to this specific situation so the userbase won't be as affected by this person's actions. Zero Omega Alexius08 Features: Ticket systemWhen I asked about the proper channel for contesting post/thread deletions, I was told that it should go through the ticket system and that I have to file appeals under the "Account Bans" category. Can we have a separate category for them? Not all instances of post/thread deletions come with a ban, and all subcategories under the "Account Bans" category mention scenarios that involve bans. We likely won't ever implement a "post deletion" section because we rarely, if ever, get tickets about anything remotely related to them. We'd probably be more likely to add an "other" section for anything that the main sections miss.
