Texas spun to face Mirai, slightly surprised that she had appeared behind him so quickly. "She served her purpose. The Machinists. Saint Clara. Me. She did what we wanted. It's not my fault she couldn't keep her mouth shut. Well, maybe it is. Heh." He took a few steps backwards, raising his weapon into an attack position. "And no. I don't just watch. Trust me, I have a lot more planned than just watching."

"Brainwashing!?" Texas said with a laugh. "Little girl you have no idea what's going on. And there is no "other" Texas. And if I could look into his memories, I already would have so I could find out the best way to kill you. Oh, and don't worry about me outliving my usefulness. That's not going to happen. I do appreciate your concern though."

"I am the only Texas," Texas replied, slashing at Mirai as she launched herself at him. His slash missed when she disappeared and he felt an elbow slam into his back sending him sprawling to the ground. He quickly regained his footing and by the time he had, his sword had turned into a flamethrower and he fired a burst of flames towards Mirai in an attempt to set her ablaze.

Texas wasn't expecting Mirai's demon powers and didn't have time to react as he found himself awash with golden flames before feeling a hand grab his face and slam him into the ground. As Mirai tried to get a glimpse inside his head, the only thing she would be able to make out would be what looked like a big steel wall. Texas kicked out from where he lay, trying to hit Mirai in the face or at least the chest in an attempt to get her off of him.

Texas found himself covered in vines but quickly began burning them off. As Mirai continued gripping the ground below him, Texas reached up and attempted to grab the back of her head, forcing it down towards him while he thrust the flame sword upwards and straight towards her face. "Get some!" He yelled as the flames came.

When Mirai entered Texas's head, she would be inside a small room. It seemed like a one-roomed dorm room. Lining the walls were pictures of Texas defeating all manner of different opponents though Mirai wouldn't recognize any of them since they were opponents the Machinist Texas fought against. Most of them ended up being killed. There were also pictures of Helena and Saint Clara. Memories. One wall of the room was missing though, and it opened up onto a vast field of flames. Just outside the wall was a bunch of things dumped on the ground like someone had come through and thrown them out of the room. Among the trash was a bookcase full of romance novels that the Texas Miria knew had liked to read. There were photos of Mirai, Shira, Atticus and others but unlike the ones in the room, these photos were shattered and the memories were leaking out onto the ground. A small model of Death City had been crunched into pieces and scattered across the ground.

The field of flames was low and the fires wouldn't burn anyone since they were more a manifestation of Texas's personality than actual defenses. But beyond that Mirai would see a large steel wall. However, at the bottom of the wall was a hole. The wall was obviously incredibly thick but it looked like someone had welded through the entire thing. The hole was wide enough for a person to fit through and the edges around it were white hot, the metal itself still melting and dripping to the ground. Immediately beyond the wall was a huge field of barbed wire. Once again there was a hole through the barbed wire. The wires looked like they had been cut and burned through one at a time. If Mirai followed the trail of burned and cut wires through the field of barbed wire with her eyes, she would see that it led about 2/3 of the way through the field. At the end of the trail was Texas. The Texas she knew. But the only way she would be able to tell it was him was by his black hat and his tattered clothing. He had clearly burned through the huge wall and had been slowly making his way through the barbed wire field. His body was covered with deep cuts and gouges, and blood flowed freely from him, leaving a large trail behind him. At some point in the journey he had fallen down and was crawling forward as he tried to make his way out. As Mirai watched, he grabbed another strand of barbed wire and began pulling as hard as he could. He was clearly very weakened from the blood loss but he hadn't given up. After several moments the wire snapped and Texas slowly crawled forward. "...think you're gonna keep me trapped here you piece of....I'll kill you..." he was muttering to himself. As he crawled forward one of the strands of barbed wire suddenly lashed out and wrapped around his leg attempting to pull him back. He turned slowly, holding onto the ground with one hand while his other one turned into a flame sword. He reached down and held the sword against the barbed wire as it attempted to pull him back, slowly burning through it while he held onto the ground tightly. After a moment he burned through and the wire slackened. Without pausing he turned back and pulled himself forward again, slowly reaching the next wire and grabbing it as he repeated the process of trying to break through. He had clearly been doing this for a long time. "I'm gonna burn you to ash.." he was muttering angrily.

In his mental room, the Texas Mirai knew barely looked up. He was delirious from blood loss and so focused on his singular mission of getting out and getting back to Mirai that he had pushed all other thoughts out of his head. Right now it was just him and the barbed wire. He finally snapped through the wire he was pulling on and began dragging himself towards the next one.

Meanwhile, outside Texas's head and on the massive chessboard, Texas quickly squirmed out from underneath the hold of this new looking Mirai. "What is this??" He asked as he quickly backed to his feet. "What are you?"

Texas stopped and slowly looked up when Mirai said his name. "Mirai...is that you...?" He asked, sounding as if he couldn't believe it. Meanwhile, the Texas in the real world's eyes widened as the Mirai creature fired a blast of incredibly powerful madness at him. It came too fast and hit him dead-on, sending him flying across the chessboard before he slammed back into the ground. He gasped in pain before scrambling to his feet. "What is this!?" He yelled angrily, a flame sword appearing in his hand.
