"These patterns bring fortune. It is also restful." Tamiya was trying to keep her breathing steady as she drew the patterns in the sand. Blocking out the commotion and wreckage around her, it was almost as though she was home again, before the battle.

Tamiya heard Sinter before she saw him. The jingling of his bells brought good omens like Larque's subtle silence entailed misfortune. Tamiya whirled from her spot and nearly lost it again. "Sinter! Over here!"

She ran towards him. "Thank the Messiahs..." She tried her hardest to control her expressions, which were flashing like dreadful masks on her features.

"I am moving rocks. Join me. We will strategize for the defeat of these goddamn pussies. I will rally more troops to end them. End them."

Tamiya pulled Sinter towards Larque and the rock garden.

[ Sinter would have sighed in relief at the sight of Tamiya and Larque if he hadn't been winded from running. Judging from Tamiya's clipped message earlier, Sinter had feared for the worst. Of course this was pretty close to it for Tamiya, but neither of his friends appeared injured, which was Sinter's primary concern.

He'd only packed a couple of maps in his hurry to get to the theater. Thankfully he'd memorized quite a bit of Old Hemisect's layout, but he still had to pencil some details in on his trip.

"A-Alright." Sinter was uncertain if Tamiya wanted to hear more condolences or if she'd rather they all just get to work.

There was a flash of light and a heart stopping explosion. Sinter felt like he was hallucinating the first explosion all over again. The wave of dust and debris slammed into Sinter and he was forced to confront the reality of the situation as he was once again tossed to the ground.

Sinter tried to call to Tamiya, but he only choked on the dust. He couldn't see or hear. He felt like he was back home in a Chittentown sand storm and cried desperately for his lusus. What little sound he could pick up over the ringing in his ears was a dull rumbling from beside him.

Even when the dust cleared, Sinter could still barely see through his watering, irritated eyes. He and the lawnring were gray with dust and sparkling with what Sinter feared to be broken glass. The windows were dark--they had been completely blown out. The front of the theater looked fairly similar otherwise, but as Sinter's vision cleared, his stomach dropped. The back side of the hive was obliterated.

Sinter struggled to get to his feet, but between his weak legs, swimming vision, and bleeding palms, he writhed ineffectively in the dirt.

"I see." Larque hummed, trying to see it as she did, and not as some sort of unusual waste of time, the hobby of a highblood who used to be able to draw in the dirt if she wanted. It was a nice distraction, he supposed, as he stacked the rocks up, big to small, a sort of balancing game to see how high he could get them. When he finished a stack, he imitated her patterns, swirling the dirt around them carefully.

Sinter's arrival was a welcomed event. He waved to the redblood as he approached. "Sinter! Sorry for not radioing. We got a bit carried away." He explained, knowing that Tamiya probably wouldn't. He disliked using the little gadgets, but still felt a bit bad about abandoning him as they had.

He was about to question Tamiya further, but before he could get a word out the world descended into chaos. Mantismom was on them in moments, making sure they were tucked between her legs before curling up to form a partial ball.

DAILY REFRESH!


It's a new day! This evening, everything is quiet in anticipation. The rebels gave a strong push, but the royalists are beginning to retake control. Tonight will be the deciding factor for the Battle of Old Hemisect.


Today's Happenstance:
Actions taken today will result in double points.

Each troll is refreshed and ready to go with 3 available actions.

REMINDER: Today is the last official day of the territory game. Come Monday's refresh, the mechanics of the game will cease as the scores are tallied, the threads are reviewed, and we prepare for the final phase of the meta. You will still be welcome to RP in the team threads, but please plan your actions accordingly!


Refreshers:
POSSIBLE ACTIONS ARE:

Build: Roll 1D6 to build on a coordinate that you have unlocked – the roll result determines the durability of the base. You can also build on friendly bases to add durability, up to a maximum of 30 durability. You cannot build on a coordinate that already has an enemy base on it.
Trolls with training in Construction get a bonus to their roll:
Apprentice: Roll 2D6 Journeytroll: Roll 3D6 Master: Roll 4D6 Grandmaster: Roll 5D6

Rally: Roll 1D6 to organize defenders, which can be assigned to any coordinate you have unlocked. The roll result determines the amount of defenders you have rallied. Defenders will be on stand-by until you mobilize them. Defenders are the second level of defense that can be assigned to protect a base. You must use defenders to take out defenders if you want to demolish an enemy base!
Trolls with training in Recruiting get a bonus to their roll:
Apprentice: Roll 2D6 Journeytroll: Roll 3D6 Master: Roll 4D6 Grandmaster: Roll 5D6

Demolish:
Roll 1D6 to destroy a base on a coordinate that you have unlocked – the roll result determines the amount of damage done to the durability of the base. At 0 durability, the base is destroyed. You cannot demolish a base with defenders assigned to it.
Trolls with training in Demolition get a bonus to their roll:
Apprentice: Roll 2D6 Journeytroll: Roll 3D6 Master: Roll 4D6 Grandmaster: Roll 5D6

Intelligence: Roll a new coordinate (2D6). If you roll a coordinate you have already unlocked, the roll is wasted.
Trolls with training in Intelligence get a bonus to their rolls:
Apprentice: Roll 2 new coordinates (4D6)
Journeytroll: Roll 2 new coordinates (4D6); if at least 1 of the coordinates is not unique, re-roll. Each re-roll will increase in numbers by 2D6. So, if you don't find a coordinate on your first 2D6 roll, roll 2D6 again. If there are no unique numbers, roll 4D6. Then 6D6, etc. The FIRST unique coordinate unlocked will be considered the new coordinate. So: Bobbie rolled 4D6 and got 2,2, 5,5 and both sets of coordinates are unique. She ONLY unlocks [2,2].
Master: Journeytroll effect OR select one new coordinate from another team and unlock it. You must post with roleplay in your own thread and the other team’s thread for this to take effect.
Grandmaster: Journeytroll effect OR Master effect OR… Roll 1 coordinate (2D6). If your allies control the coordinate rolled: add 5 durability and 5 defenders to that coordinate (may surpass the maximum durability/defender limit by 5). If your opponents control the coordinate rolled: it loses 5 durability and 5 recruits (does not apply if the numbers would decrease past 0). You additionally unlock the coordinate.


Mobilize: Choose one of two options:
1. Send defenders from your stand-by or a friendly-base you control to any friendly-base on a coordinate that you have unlocked.
2. Assault an enemy-controlled coordinate that you have unlocked using defenders from a friendly base. Defenders must be deployed to a base before they can assault an enemy base and cannot attack directly from your standby.

The world erupted once again into bright stars. If Tamiya had not experienced the previous explosion, she would have thought that the heavens were striking her down. But it was not so. The faint screaming of a troll in the distance prefaced the moment. What was previously a calm moment of rest in Tamiya’s rock garden was reduced to rubble. Before she could react, she was covered thoroughly by Mantismom’s chitinous plates, protecting them. Kabukidad surged from the spot to chase after any oncoming rebels as fire rained from all around them. And Tamiya stayed still – curled up protectively and grasping for Sinter and Larque. She felt a warm, sticky hand and entwined her fingers around it, realizing that Sinter was on the ground. With an achy reaction she covered him with her body, blind and immediately crying from the dust.

Finally, the dust settled. The hive’s back have had been demolished. Tamiya rolled over from her place over Sinter and screamed. “NO!!” she wailed. Her living quarters. Only the empty theatre was left. She had taken a single mask from her hive, and Larque’s blanket. Everything else was gone.

Tamiya got shakily to her feet and immediately collapsed again. She batted away the tears from her face, leaving her make-up haunting and streaked. This was hell. Was she being punished?

Kabukidad returned, colorfully stained. He growled in his peculiar language. “There are more coming; get your followers to the base.”

Tamiya could hardly speak, and with a hissing bark from Kabukidad finally relayed the message. “You have to… Leave! GET OUT!” She wailed. “Get all troops…. Every Brother and Sister... Mobilize!” Tamiya was screaming incoherently into her radio.

A chorus of whooping could be heard on the other line.

The grip Tamiya had on the radio was making her knuckles pale.

"Go! Go!" She was screaming now. Her vision was blurry and she wanted to pass out. Sinter's blood was slick on her hands. "To the museum!"

Everything was spinning. Tamiya had to get out of here. She looked to and fro - her home was still ablaze. She couldn't take it. Tamiya took a swinging, woozy step to the left, then to the right, and jolted to move towards the woods.

[ Sinter stopped struggling when he felt a pressure cover him, and the gale of debris suddenly cease. It took him a while to figure out that Tamiya had grabbed onto him, and longer still to realize Larque's lusus had shielded them all. By the time Sinter had stumbled into an upright position, Tamiya was already on her feet and shrieking into her radio.

"T-Tamiya... Tamiya!" Sinter stuttered when he realized he couldn't quite hear his own voice on the first go. Sinter looked from Tamiya to Larque to make sure everyone was conscious and in one piece.

Sinter was still coming-to, but his training was already kicking in. Sinter scrambled for his own radio and began calling in commands of his own.

[ Sinter wasn't thinking straight. He was relying on information he'd ground into his thinkpan during his endless nights studying at the Coastal Base to rapidly shout orders into his radio. He wasn't even sure anyone was receiving him. He was in a panic to regain some semblance of control over the situation. Tamiya appeared to be in a similar situation.

Tamiya! Sinter tried to go to her, but it was too late. The moment Tamiya took off running, Sinter stumbled over his own feet and he knew he'd never be able to catch up. He caught himself on one of the large rocks of Tamiya's former garden and helplessly watched her go.

Larque coughed harshly as the dust began to settle, his own eyes on fire as well. His head was pounding from the sound, and he'd nearly flown into a panic. Thank whatever gods there were for his lusus's thick shell. As Mantismom unfurled, he watched Tamiya totter away through wide eyes.

"Tamiya!? Where are you going!!??" He called out, and scrambled onto Mantismom's back. Where was she headed, all alone!? What did she think she could possibly do? He patted his lusus' neck, requesting for her to keep a low profile, which she gladly obliged to. Larque jerked his attention back to Sinter for a moment.

"Sinter, do as she says! I need to make sure she doesn't kill herself!! Be safe!" He snapped, and off Mantismom went, slithering silently over the rubble. Sinter's own lusus would keep him safe, he hoped, but he couldn't let Tamiya run off and get captured, or worse.

He didn't know what sort of horrors he would actually bear witness to, as he murmured nervously into his radio on the way, trying to at least do something constructive.

[ Sinter hacked and coughed as he steadied himself against the rock. Before he knew it, Larque, too was off and running after Tamiya. Sinter was left behind once again. Even if he could catch up, Sinter didn't even know where Tamiya would even think to go, much less end up at a time like this.

Sinter grounds his bleeding palms into fists. This wasn't... This wasn't right! It wasn't fair! Tamiya hadn't done anything wrong! None of them had! What right did these rebels have to go around parading their "justice" when in reality they were just indiscriminately hurting children! They were no better than the empire. Sinter didn't know if they were liars, or just that ignorant.

It didn't matter to Sinter anyway. He'd spent his entire time in Old Hemisect being scared. Now he was angry.

Sinter clicked on his radio. "Take the rail station."

CEASEFIRE

A whisper amongst the trees tells rebel trolls to return to the Wooded Sanctuary, while a blaring command instructs royalists to return to the Coastal Base. The fighting has ceased momentarily so that each side may attend to their wounded.

From the course of the battle, it is clear that both sides are evenly matched in spirit. While the royalists outnumber the rebels significantly, the hard-fought battle was certainly not in vain. Captain Puchen herself has reportedly been active during the day, finding sleep elusive over the threat of the rebels.

What was supposed to be a construction project has fallen into messy conflict. Young trolls have been pushed into their first taste of war through the ill-advised conversion of the restoration of Old Hemisect into a temporary ousting of the rebels, and a great price has been paid for the rebellion's counter-attack.

However, although the rebel threat was severely underestimated, the royalists regained and held their ground. The fate of both sides is yet to be seen.


At this time, the mechanics of the territory game have ceased. Trolls can continue to post and roll in the training ORPs until 12:00 PM PST of the 27th, when the final phase of the meta will begin. Trolls are welcome to keep RPing in team threads until the 27th as well.

Larque had made his return alone that evening. After making an attempt to follow Tamiya and witnessing events that still made him sick to his stomach, he had made an immediate u-turn and beeline for the safety of the royalist base. Perhaps it had been a stupid thing to do; Tamiya was left out there, at the mercy of any rebels still lurking around...but he was sure her freakish lusus would be able to handle most of the bad situations they came across.

He stumbled tiredly through the base, seeking out Sinter. Hopefully the little redblood had managed to make it back safely...
