It sounded better and also the distinction was clearer at the time. I know, Jupiter is Jove, and both are the Roman form of Zeus. The only other one that I could think of was JoVonians and it didn't sound quite right. I think the JoVolites would work, or maybe the JoVosaries. So many suffixes, so little time.
