*Darrick glared, something seemed staged here. Little axident later... what did that mean? Did they plan something like a trap to stop her? He lisened in more, and kept his eyes glancing all about...

Meanwhile Itherael may have noticed while he was there that there was a single Fate among all the others that stood out to him. One that wasn't chosen by him. But none the less was still to the rules. The defender Percilla had chosen was here, even though the boy didn't know it himself, his fate was already sealed with the job instantly. And there Darrick was sitting among the other students before he finally spoke in a whisper, "what's this Shonryu thing all about?" He asked acting like the new kid who didn't know anything, he hoped maybe he would get a little more information about what they had done, or may have planned to do against her. What he wondered is why they targeted her in particular.

One of the plotters turned to the new kid whispering, thinking nothing of him as he casually replied. "The Shonryu family has long since been in seats of power, ranging from civilian to military, and even political affairs. They have become too well connected, and knowing this family they plan on taking over everything. I had plans to make a factory near this place last month, but that cursed Clan of theirs shut it down because of how unhealthy it would be for the local wildlife and especially how hazardous it would be for the students. Peh, if you ask me, they just want to keep people down and below them. They are nothing but rotten humans." One could clearly see the unrestrained fury for the family for keeping him from making more money and that it was a more personal issue than that. Others with the man agreed, having similar operations ruined because of the family. "And now they want to take over the Church, well that's where we draw the line. Good thing it's just a girl, they'll never accept her into the Order...." Clearly they had it in for Aurora, but it was because of her family, making her collateral damage in the process.

Darrick nodded and took it all in. So this was something personal about the family, as he suspected. He shrugged though, "perhaps she doesn't mean to do anything of harm to anyone, family or not everyone has personal goals." He sat back, "if paths entertwin then you can find a way around it. But to me it's dishonorable to assume something of someone for the rank of there family, or any bloodline." He looked to them as if higher of a man then they could hope to be, "for all you know it could because of her you get your wishes in the futcher. She may run away from her family, you would never know because it isn't you place to mess." He was hoping to get through to them, but also warn them... unsure if his words were carefully chosen or not.

"What?! Say that again you little-" "Don't, it's not worth it. He's just a kid, what does he know of the real world?" Calming themselves, they turned and continued watching the written exam finally come to an end, clearly ignoring the 'kid' behind them.

Itherael could tell that this was going to go bad, fast, and had to do something. No one was supposed to die, but the death was a possibility he could not afford. If his suspicions were correct, then this Aurora girl was the mortal Tyrael spoke of, and would do anything in his power to help his friend. He looked to the people, more specifically their pasts to find anyone who would be willing to help her, but it was looking bleak. Her family had stepped on a lot of toes it seems and they were hell-bent on her failing, if not dying, on this day. Refusing that to be her fate, he found Derrick, which he felt was oddly familiar, but shook it off for now.

Moving about unseen, as was the restriction he was given every time he was on Earth, he moved to be behind Derrick and whispered softly. "She will die today without your help, boy." He was her last shining ray of hope to survive this day, as a lot of possible fates for Aurora otherwise lead to an early death because of this day.

Darrick stopped and went compleatly still. To him it was like everyone went into slowmotion as he glared forword. Was this his faith actually speaking to him? He whispered back under his breath " what should I do and when then...I don't know what thy have planned..." he waited for an answer already convinced he would have to something.

Itherael scanned through the thousands of possibilities that would become of future events, finding the correct one where she would live. "When they call for volunteers, present yourself and demand that you pair with Aurora. This MUST be done, or she will not survive." The choice was given, his little detour done, now it was up to Derrick to follow the path presented before him, or to condemn Aurora to her fate.

Senior Paladins stepped up to the audience and asked that volunteers step forward for the next part of the Exam, where they will take the role of the person the students need to 'protect'.

*Darrick didn't even hesitate, he was even the first to stand and call out, "I would be honored to participate in honor of Aurora." He announced loudly making his way down already. He didn't look back to they boys before that spoke badly about her. He didn't even look directly to her, just at the situation at from of him as he headed down to where they wished to explain what to do. It was then he glanced her way...

Aurora was shocked and overjoyed that Derrick was placing trust on her for this portion of the exam, and the Senior Paladins came forth with what looked like a dagger, but the gleam of the sharp blade was not present. "This is what you will be defending your charge from. These are advanced anti-riot daggers with Taser built into it. When you get hit..." He thrusted the 'blade' at a dummy, where the electrical charge could be seen emitting from it. "You will receive a weak but effective electrical charge that is meant to keep you down and cause no bodily injury. You will have to hold out until either reinforcements arrive, or if possible, defeat all of the attackers. Head to your designated areas, and good luck." Aurora pulled on Derrick to get him moving to their designated area, which was in a corner of the huge rocky terrain. "Alright, you ready for this?" She was completely oblivious of the plans here today, where she might die without knowing why.

*Darrick spoke in a low whisper behind her, "today, out here on the field I want you to think of one thing. It's not winning. It's not that this is an exam. I want you to protect me when I cannot fight, as my first friend." He figured this would motivate her, relax her and let her understand that if she tried to hard she would make mistakes. He wanted her to treat this much like the real thing, as if he was really in danger, not that it was a exam grade. He took a breath and focused on the field, one thing he could do is dodge... tenicly that was fighting back, that was just being a smart citizen. Otherwise they would have him held in one position. He waited for it to start, he would follow her lead of course, this was for her, not him.

"Right." She had her back to him as she focused on the horde of 'enemies' that were headed her way. What Derrick could see, they already had their daggers out in the open, which made light gleam from their razor edge... wait, dull taser-made daggers don't sparkle in the light, so the only reason these would is if.... they were real.

What made the current situation worse was that the student's had to remove some of their armor pieces to be able to feel the taser-function, so she was at an extreme disadvantage defensive-wise. People were planning on killing her this day! Also, a little later into the test, it was clear that their focus was more on Aurora then Derrick, on purpose.

Sadly, Aurora was more focused on protecting Derrick than herself as she had her charge get up a high slope, slowing the enemy down and thinning the herd so she wasn't overwhelmed. Fortunately, with the lack of armor, her flexibility and agility was greatly increased, focused more on aiming to injure, not 'kill' her attackers. It wouldn't last long as she was slowly tiring out, the blades getting closer and closer to cutting her...

*Darrick relized through everything that this wasn't how it was suppost to be, the only question was... why did the event continue if everyone could see that there were cheaters already in the ring. Everything should have been stopped then and there. But Darrick had an idea as he spun around when they had a second and slamed his back to hers, not hard, just enough she knew he was there, "alright lisen... we have to follow the rules as much as we can, even if they don't. This is a real event so this means it's real for me too. The only disadvantage I see you have is being able to cover all sides at once, and keep an eye on all enemys. Therefor I'll be your Eyes back here, and i'll warn you when they go too attack, all you have to do is block the ones I cannot. As far as the ones who aren't skilled enough..." he gave a slight smerk and glanced over his shoulder at her, "it isn't against the rules if they trip over there own feet right?" Of course there little break was over, the enemys would regain themselves. As they would attack at her she could block as they would go to her side or back side, Darrick would use his dodging skills to make it look like he was just dodging, but all in all, he was doing two things. The first he was using a hand on Her side to let her know when to dodge with the placement of his hand, left, right, backstep. Meanwhile all through the dodging, his own feet were making sure to have his weaker enemys tripping or tumbling down, whenever he got one that would come at them that he couldn't trick, he would whisper, "To your left mid height!" She could then turn, use her blade to block, and send him back as Darrick would call, "Right Vertical strike!" She could then turn and block that... from the sidelines it was quiet a sight...

The Senior Paladins were confused as to why the student's 'charge' was also alongside the paladin-to-be, but they then noticed that everyone else was done when these two were still going. Was their timer broken or something? None the less, they leapt down from the stands and blasted a blinding light amongst the attackers and made a formation between them and the two 'kids'. Now that they saw it, the attackers had REAL weapons, not the issued taser-daggers that ALL of the 'attackers' should have. "Due to some extreme complications, we are ending this exam now! No one is to leave the campus while a thorough investigation is in order, or face charges for sabotaging the Church's Academy. Men, arrest everyone on that floor now. Sorry kids, due to this complication, we'll have to cancel these exams immediately."

As the Senior Paladins went about their business of making arrests and keeping the peace, Aurora was shocked to the core. 'Canceling the Exams' these words continued to echo in her head as she looked to Derrick, tears slowly forming in her eyes. "But.... this was.... my last....." She then bolted out of the room, instinctively dragging Derrick behind her until they were at the dorms, and pulled him into her room, slamming the door shut behind them. Derrick could see that the room, even the walls and compartments, were stripped bare and bags were packed next to the door, with some dust sitting ontop of them. After a few seconds, she slammed into him, crying her eyes out and wailing in misery: She refused to let anyone see her as weak, but a few minutes ago was what broke the camel's back for her.

Any man would altomaticly take the crying female into there arms, but Darrick was... oddly different. It was just starting to occure to him that emotion may have been there somewhere inside. He hesitated in confusion on what to do but slowly placed a hand on her shoulders... then the other. He thought about it silence for abit. In books, the hero would hug the women to make her feel better. But again, he didn't understand that... not yet. Instead he used his hands on her shoulders to hold her out and look to her. "This is not your fult..." he needed to choose his words carfully as he took a hand and lifted her chin up lightly so that there eyes would meet. Again he held that same emotionless expression, but for someone like Asura should could see there was a small glimmer of it In his eyes instead. "A warrior shouldn't cry." He took her hand, and used the sleeve of his other to wipe the tears from her face. He turned and opened the door, "we will face what happened. We will stick through it and finish what was started..." As they headed back to the arena to follow the "no one leaves" rule and maybe get some real answers he stopped and chose a seat away from everyone else where they could sit and await for someone to come to them. He knew they would, because she would have passed. For a moment he hesitated, and could tell it would be hard for her to stay strong but he finally shied in his low voice and said, "do you know why I came down here to be your assistant today?" He looked down to ground before them... "Something... different happened when I was sitting in the watching area... My Faith... it spoke to me. Real words like a whisper..." He looked up, "it was oddly different then I felt before but It told me something was wrong." He looked directly at her, "but we made it through it. So hang in there a little longer."

She never left him as he pulled her back to the stadium, silent tears still flowing out of her eyes. "Derrick... Student's only get 3 chances on the Exam, those who fail take it next year. But after the 3rd attempt, if they don't pass, they're considered a lost cause and are to return home. I've already failed twice, and now with the exams unable to continue..." She had to stop to keep the tears from flowing freely again. Her voice was broken, no shattered, as she tried to compose what was left of her warrior pride, and failing to do so. "I won't be able to even get the chance now... And the worst of it all.... is that I got you dragged into this."

Her body was shaking to suppress the crying that was threatening to spill out again; she tried, oh how she tried to keep herself from crying, but with the events from the last 24-hours, who wouldn't break from the pressure when all your hopes and dreams came crashing down?

Tyrael, whom was watching the whole thing from his seat in the Council Chambers via the big rift on the table, had frowned upon the current events. He knew that, had Itherael not intervened, Aurora, whom he had chosen, would have died or worse... He finally rose from his seat, thinking that enough was enough, and warped on down to the mortal world of Earth. As he was not an official Arch Angel, he was not as extremely restricted as the others, and disguised himself as a Senior Paladin and slowly made his way towards Aurora and Derrick.

*Darrick just shot her a glance, "trust me." That was all he had said before he looked up and saw the professional on his way. He then looked to her again and motioned her to be ready, "be strong. Don't back down." He eyed the man, but stayed where he was. The man wasn't here for him, that he knew. Be he also knew... his gut feeling felt stronger then ever.

Beside Itherael suddenly appeared a small girl with golden hair. She didn't speak but looked to darrick from the distance. She then glanced up to Itherael, basically this was her chance to allow him to understand that she had chosen his fate because of the gift from god of being able to have a choice to pick someone to assist her. Since she couldn't got up to him, she had to get to him when he was on earth, and there he was. Course she couldn't speak, but she could see him. She held up a hand and did a form of sign laungage to explain what had happened, but aside that she just started. Blinking ever few seconds. It was said, every time the angel of judgement blinks, 10,000 souls were judged either to heaven or hell, and this just goes to show how rapid her job was at all times.
