Danny arrived late (as always), but enamored and ready to party. "Wow!" she exclaimed in excitement, being totally moved by the enormous fire. Her eyes were glass orbs, reflecting the flames that stood before her. Danny adored fire, always had and always would.

She didn't see anyone she knew right away, so she just found a spot on the ground and watched the fire idly. Oddly, Danny was more serene and less wound up here. Maybe it was the fire making her sleepy.

Alec's eyes flickered over to the large man he was seated beside. He could understand his love of all things sweet, but even he was a bit surprised by his shameless display. A small smile cracked the red heads lips deciding right away he would get along well with this guy well enough. So his name was Henrik? "It's nice to meet you as well big guy." The small red head grinned up now at the other giving a little wave of greeting, patting him gently on the forearm before lowering his hand back in his lap. All his concern about him eating Preacher was thankfully washed away.

Giving a small yawn he stretched wondering how he could even imagine wanting to close his eyes. As Elliot had said a pack of bald men was a horrible imagine to consider. Oh god. "No. That is an awful thing to kid about. Youre right." he hissed quietly in reply shaking his head.

"Me either." he sounded off in a half pout to Lloren's comment, crossing his arms over his chest. His dreams of being closer too 6 feet were slowly ebbing away each summer he swore.

Glancing up from the small conversation he waved also to Danny as she was ushered over into the mixed circle of people already gathered. "Heya Danny." By this point he knew the girls name, even if they hadn't officially met. The teen greeted leaning forward on his log, even if she'd hunkered herself down a little ways. Plus she had kicked his a** in the dirt hauling the other night.

c: maybe i can catch you and danny for some tags later?

Blinking over he peered down at Preacher noticing the other boy had fallen asleep. Pushing at his own eye, he rubbed at it a few times blinking tiredly. "If they have siblings..or kids that look anything like them I'm sure we are the inner most circle of hell." Alec muttered moodily to the current conversation at hand, closing his eyes and warming his hand on the fire. If he wasn't careful, he'd nod off. Gazing lazily at the flames he realized in fact he was nearly half way there. If he wasn't careful Henrik would soon have some one nodded off beside him. Alec's blue eyes blinked once or twice a bit hazy, before sliding closed again. At least he felt safe, maybe relaxing before things got started wouldn't be so bad.

The fire really was nice...even with how stressful it had been mere moments ago. The dim crackle, and glow was soothing.

For now he relaxed, falling quiet and listening to the dull roar of conversation all around him. If some one actually wanted his attention they'd have to speak up. In the mean time Alec listened half dozing as he sat up, balanced on his log seat.

No, Shun didn't really want to see what they had to show. It was just a bunch of ghost stories as far as he was concerned, which wasn't really something he was particularly interested in. Letting out a breath, he closed his eyes for the time being as he took in the warmth of the fire. In the very least, that banquet earlier had filled him up quite nicely.

Though, he soon heard an all too familiar voice. His eyes opened briefly to see Danny on the far side of the fire. It didn't look like she had noticed him just yet, which was more than fine. It was all the more reason for him to find a way to sneak out once he found the opportunity. The girl seemed to be pretty transfixed on the fire, so perhaps he would be safe in the meantime anyway. And he wasn't about to speak up to alert her of his presence.

His eyes soon closed once more as he relaxed himself and began to try and clear his head.

He stood frozen in place as the flames lit up her face and the deceptively polite smile she had angled up at him. She was as beautiful and alluring as the night of the party where they had first met but there was venom there that he simply could not pinpoint. Ever since that evening she had displayed the utmost anger towards him and was quicker to give him a sharp glance than a pleasant greeting. Regardless of her reasons he saw her ill-will towards him as a threat, especially in this situation. If she were to go around circulating the word that she had witnessed the Windsor heir cavorting with peasants as though they were equals, his reputation would be tarnished and he would virtually become an outcast. Rather than telling jokes at the cost of the dignity of peasants, people would begin to joke about him and how a once upstanding citizen of noble birth was found merrily rolling around in the mud and filth. To some that punishment may have seemed a trifle, but for him everything he had ever done was to maintain a certain refinement to his name and to have that taken from him would demean everything he had ever done. Including his willingness to live by the thread of ignorance.

“Ms. Eden,” He started charmingly, allowing the propriety to slip back into his tone with ease, “How unexpected! It is a pleasure to see you partaking in these festivities as well.” Pressing one hand sharply against his breast he bowed courteously, ignoring the looks he received from those seated around them. “You must forgive my behavior; it was just shocking to see a member of the Eden family here.” He knew the same could be said of him, but he was attempting to formulate an excuse as he went along. The edge to her tone was appealing yet dangerous as she spoke about the dark and he found himself unable to let it slip away. Reaching out slowly he picked her hand up in his as though it were a baby bird fallen from the nest and brought it to his lips. Once he had executed the gentlemanly kiss upon the back of her hand he released it and smiled. “I never fear what can be found in the dark, I find it rather exciting.”

In a matter of seconds the man in front of her transformed from the stuttering fool to the noble gentleman. Oh how it irked her how he could put on the charm. “I am sure it was quite shocking, you almost fell into the flames attempting to flee.” She did not feel it necessary to inform him why she was here, his reason seemed much more interesting to her. Why was the heir to the Windsor family sitting at a bonfire with peasants? Annoyingly her heart began to beat faster at his smooth words and his soft lips against her hand. No, she could not allow herself to feel these emotions. In the silence of the night she built an impenetrable wall around her heart, for there was only one who had made her heart race and he was dead, thus that is where her emotions shall be as well.

Her eyes filled with a mischievous glint, “Exhilarated by what you find in the dark? I am sure after tonight that brave demeanor will crack, if the creepy bald man is correct about what will transpire here.” Oh how she wished she knew a scary story that would frighten Nik, but what she knew would most likely entertain him, not have him jumping at shadows.

The atmosphere at once began to shift as Nik reverted back to the young man who saw nothing more than a lackluster party that could in no way compare to those the two of them had attended. He flinched as a man shuffled behind him, placing his hand on Nik’s shoulder to alert him to his presence and as a way of requesting passage. Taking a step forward the noble brushed off his shoulder as a nearly imperceptible twitch danced at the corner of his nose alluding to the disgust at being touched by one with such filthy hands. Though a small voice cried out against this transformation in the back of his mind it was already too late, he could not turn back now. “Hmmm, yes.” He toed the log she was seated on and shook his head. “The way they have this sorry little pit set up, it practically screams fire hazard.” If anything she could return back to wall Sina saying that he had only attended to mock the peasants or something of that nature, though his heart sank after each word he spoke.

The tension still had not left his body when she responded to him. Though he was certain he was preserving his reputation for the most part there was still something about her demeanor that had him feeling unsettled. He didn’t remember much of the night they had met as he had managed to drink much more than he had initially anticipated, but he was certain her subtle hostility was somehow connected. “I doubt any tales these illiterates could come up with can scare me, but I shall take your words under advisement. And what of yourself? Will you require an escort back to your lodgings? Someone to fight off the monsters and ghosts perhaps?” He chuckled.

Again his bearing changed, he was now the cocky noble who she had grown to loath. His superior air and entitlement, which had been very similar to her own before she met Green, now filled her with annoyance and shame. She was no better than he was, she still had an attitude of superiority toward people, and even if it had lessened over this past year it was still blatantly apparent. “You’re a walking fire hazard,” she mumbled to herself, too low and incoherent for him to hear, least of all understand her words. She did not continue the thought out loud, worried that he may over hear by chance. If he continued light fires in the women he wooed, he was going to get burned. A slightly wicked smile appeared on her countenance, it was cast in shadow by her hood, so the man could not see her expression as she imagined the entertaining encounters he would receive from those spurned women. “I like it how it is, where would the fun be without the probable danger of catching fire?”

At his words did she finally turn to look at him, “Would you really? Could you check under the bed as well to make sure there are no monsters lurking under there?” She knew she should not have mentioned the bed, for there are so many ways that her invitation could be taken out of context, but when she was little most monsters lurked under the bed or in the closet, and since her room at the inn did not have a closet, bed it was then. “I am terribly afraid of the dark, so I would enjoy the company on my walk home.” It was all a farce, she hated to lie, but this opportunity was too good to pass up. Let him believe that she was the meek damsel in distress, it may be the best way to discover what he was hiding. Information was power and she wanted the secrets about the handsome noble next to her.

Lillian was good at ignoring people. Sitting beside the fire, she let her mind wander to the quietest of places as the people around her chatted. Working in a shop full of clocks tends to give one the ability to sound out noise. She stared at the fire, watching it weave up and down. It was weirdly calming and would stay that way as long as no one decided to catch fire. She knew it was likely someone eventually would.

She heard her name. It was the only thing she heard. Turning around, she noticed Alec there. Him and his smile. "Well, it's not like I would be allowed to skip such an incredible event." Her eyes rolled. She had managed to get not one day's of work done before she was dragged outside, kicking and screaming, to another social event. She recognized a few faces from the parade, though barely knew anyone's names. She paused, pulling her pocket watch out. Staring at it for a while, she turned back to Alec. "Still.. it's good to see you. I suppose."

Sighing, she slowly listened to the voices around her. They had nothing to do with her. Still.. would it hurt to listen to them? She found no desire to make friends, and yet she found herself wondering what harm it would be to actually listen to them. Perhaps they had their own stories to tell that would be entertaining. Maybe .. it had something to do with the events at the parade, perhaps not. If anything, maybe she could get her father some customers.. and it would distract him from nagging at her.

She turned to a semi-familiar face. Lloren.. ? Was that her name? She could barely remember. She watched her frantically freak at what she called a baby bonfire. Her eyes followed the fire as the girl twirled the stick around. She could be mentally insane. Still, she decided to acknowledge her inquiry. "What am I up to? .. I seem to be watching a rather chaotic event unfold.. I'm not quite sure if I should be recording this on paper or not."

His life.

It sucked.

Axel had always believed in the value of hard work getting you somewhere. Eventually. If it didn't, then whatwasthewholepoint. WHAT was it really. There was no point.

He tripped over an uneven cobblestone and shook his head to clear it. That was better.

Okay, so he had to leave school early. That was normal, right? That was just what happened in Shiganshina. But he kept reading. He liked books. He liked working. And he finally got a job, although part time, in a real bookstore. And maybe, just maybe, if he worked hard enough, maybe he would be promoted, and maybe some day he would have a real respectable career.

The bonfire was up ahead. Axel was totally late and there were already a ton of people there, but those people, those people hadn't run into their a*****e boss right after the dances at the banquet. Those people hadn't been fired for no satisfactory reason, and those people hadn't taken a brief side trip to toss back a whole bunch of ale, much more than he had ever had at one time, since he was now a totally unemployed loser with no reason to be responsible. So WHATEVER, he was late. Big freaking deal.

Axel swanned up to the bonfire, a cup of ale still held in one hand. Scary stories. Okay whatever. Fine. He would listen to some scary stories. There were a bunch of people he already knew gathered around the fire. A big dude Axel had seen a few times in passing was eyeballing Preacher (who appeared to be dead), eating a pie and making freaky noises. Alec was right there, and several others. The trainee from the parade, for one.

Oh, and some snooty rich folk having a tiff on a log. Axel strolled past them. The male noble he recognized. The one who had fallen on his a** in the dirt, and who had looked at him and Preacher like they were scum for fighting. Cool. "Having fun slumming it, milord? Oh, I do hope you don't catch a chill, milady." Axel said rather nastily in passing. He gave the lady a clumsy, sarcastic bow and went on his way, to hang out with the lowlifes he belonged with. Not that Alec was a lowlife. But Preacher and weird pie dude, definitely.

Axel bullied his way onto the bench and flopped down next to the possibly-dead Preacher, passed out Alec and the guy having a sensual experience with a pie. He tossed back the rest of his ale and threw the cup at the bonfire. "Hey, Alec. Is there room in your gutter, Preacher?"

Damn it, now he was out of ale.

"If there isn't maybe you can dig me a hole to live in, pie guy." He was pretty sure pie guy dug graves, right? He felt like belonged in one.

WHUMP

"Unnghhh." What a rude awakening. Someone had unceremoniously shoved Preacher's legs off of their comfortable bench and into the floor. Her head also fell onto the bench. Before, it had been pressed up against someone's thing. She murmured incoherently a few times before raising herself onto her elbows. Alec, that d**k! "Curry, ya p-" Alec leaned by, dozing off peacefully. And, well, that most assuredly was not Alec. It was an altogether too blonde Axel, bane of her life, thorn in her side, zit in her nose. And he looked miserable.

Preacher desperately wanted to nap more. The pie had settled in her stomach like a stone and she groaned. She was stuffed up and feverish and afflicted with a sore throat made worse by the smoke. Instead, she simply pulled her legs up, bending her knees, and poked Axel with one toe. Her sandals lay forgotten on the ground below. If he was going to disturb her sleep, she at least possessed enough energy to annoy him.

"Uwahhh," She deadpanned, worlds of sarcasm in the noise. "Mr. High n Mighty wants ta join my slum. I'm so flattered. It must be l-o-v-e. " Blowing a few strands of her hair out of her face, she looked at him. Really looked at him. And frowned. "Well, ya can't. Iffin your s**t don't stink, ya- Ya look like death warmed over. Your girlfriend discover your predeliction n dump ya?" Preacher poked him with her toe again, pinching his arm. She was too tired for a fight, and he seemed too tipsy, so she poked him.

Mykanos signing in. { keep me out of the chance to get a prize, though. giving others a better chance. }

With the craziness of the parade subsided, the lone huntsman was hesitant to join in the next round of festivities; a bonfire. While a fire was rather enjoyable, and calming, he wasn't sure he would be suited for it considering those who had participated in the gathering prior would be more deserving, and united.

But was that really what mattered...?

Jaw set, faintly clutched towards the back, he set off to join the ushering of the youthful individual, his dark tendrils fluttering softly in his wake from the forward motion. The sight of the massive man was interesting, to say in the least, in which made him a prime subject for observation, however causing the placid expression on Mykanos' face to remain unhinged. He kept near the bonfire, but stood extremely still instead of sitting on a log, almost comparable to a tree, gaze wandering down to the crackling, weaving flames, that tried reaching for more distance. This would be a 'different sort of bonfire', eh? well... he was only used to the kind that composed of sitting in utter silence, besides the melody of nature around as companionship. Maybe this would be interesting.

At Lloren's comment, Henrik merely grinned. He could only thank his profession for the definition that his body had gained, nothing more. He ate like an animal, but he worked hard, and it showed. He lifted his arm and flexed, using his opposite hand to slap against the corded muscle of his bicep. Henrik thought about lifting the hem of his shirt to show off the muscles of his abdomen, but he refrained - only because so much of the group seemed a little young, and also because his brain was telling him that it didn't seem like such a great idea.

Once he'd slapped his bicep (for no reason other than showing how rock-hard it really was), Henrik stretched out his arm to shake Lloren's hand in return. Everyone seemed pretty nice, which was something of a relief in Henrik's mind.

"It is very nice to meet you, Lloren. If you want to have big muscles like me," he might have been flexing his pectorals on the downlow, "you have to work hard."

When Alec patted his forearm, Henrik reached out to ruffle the redhead's hair. It was probably a little forward, but Alec was small, like a little brother - and ruffling hair was what Henrik felt an older, larger brother would do to a younger brother. They were all friends here, right?

Everyone was friends here.

Well, maybe except for the blond that sauntered up (and maybe the two fancy folk arguing on another log). He wasn't sure how he felt about Axel. Henrik took his gravedigging really quite seriously, but on the other hand, maybe Axel was just having a bad day. Or maybe he was drunk as hell. Henrik wasn't sure. He only knew Axel in passing, having run into him a few times at varying supply stores. Shovels didn't last long when you were using them every day, after all.

"I dig very nice holes," Henrik assured Axel before he went back to boldly petting Alec's red hair. He wasn't sure why he did it. Alec seemed nice enough, and the warmth of the fire was kind of making Henrik a little drowsy. "I could even make you a box to live in."

He paused.

"I make very nice coffins, as well."

Either the ale really was hitting him hard or Axel had stumbled into one of the weirdest scenes he'd ever been a part of. Henrik was petting Alec, petting him like some kind of dog. He stared openly, entirely distracted for a moment, hardly even noticing Preacher poking at him. Then he shook his head. No. That was. Okay. Whatever. Let them pet each other's heads all they wanted to. Axel shook his head again, harder, trying to reassemble the train of thought that had been entirely derailed.

"Thanks. If I ever needa box to live in, I know who to ask." Axel didn't think Henrik was threatening him, but he gave the other man a squinty look anyways when coffins were brought up. Coffins. Weird.

Axel had belatedly noticed Lloren, but she seemed enthralled by Henrik, so he returned his attention to Preacher, who was still poking him. It was annoying to be asked about a girlfriend. He didn't have one. He didn't mind not having one, as there weren't any girls he particularly liked at the moment, but right now being reminded of it made him feel even more like a loser.

"No," said Axel. " 'smatterofact, I was on my way to her place to do some face licking, you know, when I saw this bonfire here. Decided to come see what you all, all you, lovely people were up to."

He didn't want to tell Preacher he had lost his job. That would suck. So he poked Preacher in the arm. Childish but satisfying.
