"Enter Child...for as you are called here, so you belong." The voice was husky, almost smoky in quality, and emanating from a pale woman, scantily clad, to which all the light of the moon and stars seemed to draw itself. On her back a pair of translucent wings fluttered, constellations whirling there as if trapped in the membranous appendages.

She gestured to the yawning black mouth of the castle entryway on the far side of the courtyard. "Where your soul draws you, you shall find a window in which a child you share bloodlines with has been trapped for a thousand years by a dread curse. If you are strong enough, and willing, you can free them by granting what is asked of you. When you do so, return to me, that I might welcome one of my people back to the land of life, or may escort you back through the wood otherwise."

Lynx swallowed and nodded. There was a unique sense here that there were things much bigger and more powerful than herself. Her cheeks burned a little, and she turned to look down the darkened corridor. She feared for a moment, a certain retribution if she weren't worthy of doing this task. But even as heart trembled, her feet had started her forward an their path, moving her where her mind was at first unready to go. But as soon as she knew, her pace increased - dropping to all fours to run, lightly scampering down the halls, up a flight of stairs and through a door formed what seemed to be pure ebony. Her orange eyes flicked up to the only source of light.

A stained glass window. Her lips were dry as she raised herself to her full height once more, head cocking slightly. As her eyes readjusted she looked about - the room seemed abandoned, and yet, there were whispers of an old love - and music. Instruments hung about the walls, and pushed into dark corners. All were coated in dust.

But these things were barely considered as she was drawn to the window with a single star on it. A claw-tipped finger reached up and touched the surface of the glass.

On the surface of the window the star emblazoned there almost seemed to shimmer and move, pulsing with some sort of enchantment. As Lynx' fingers touched the glass inside her mind a strange, genderless voice spoke a question.

"Do you, Lynx, give freely of your spirit and essence, to free Astra, daughter of Vates and Fidicina, of her dread curse?"

The words seemed to reach out like chains, linking Lynx and the window in some odd connected power, waiting on the answer to be said.

"Ahh..." Lynx was stunned by the power touching her, but she wanted nothing more than to help end the dread sorrow of these creatures. "Yes." She nodded slowly, her heart leaping with anticipation.

The star in the window began to glow brighter, brighter, until it was too painful to even look at, leaving phantom spots behind even closed eyes. The light seemed to pour out onto the floor into a pool, which rose into a ball. It pulsed, grew, and then vanished as if never there. In the wake of the brilliant light, a child remained, looking exhausted, confused, and perhaps 5 years of age, old enough to speak and run about.

Lynx turned to see the child, a look of shock falling upon her face. She knelt down immediately and blinked. "Hi there." She smiled slightly, the girl looked like kin, that was for sure! "My name's Lynx. What's yours?"

In the courtyard below, Nox let out a sigh of relief, having seen the light from the second story. "Excellent, another has returned to the fold." She slipped inside and made her way to the music room, standing in the doorway.

"Welcome back, Astra..." She murmured, "Bard of the Moon Court, or you shall be when you come of age." She looked to the Kithain, her eyes glittering mysteriously. "You will find through the door on the other side of the music room chambers have been prepared for Astra and yourself. She will need your care, especially until she regains her strength after the transformation.

"I am Majestrix Nox, ruler of the Moon Court, and I bid you welcome into Castellum Umbra."

The young fey stands up and smiles. "My name's Astra." She turns to look around and adds, "It's been a long time, hasn't it? I couldn't really tell - but..." Her crystal-clear eyes fill immeditealy with tears.

Lynx nods, touching the piece of paper the raven delivered to her. "Yeah. It has been. How did you know?"

"I could see it." The fey whispered, then dodged forward to Lynx's arms.

The catgirl seemed a little stiff at first, but upon hearing the girl's sobs, her hands relaxed about her shoulders. Tears hit her own eyes, and she bit her lip. This little one had been awake for a thousand years, alone. "It's okay." She said softly.

Nox quietly murmured "I shall leave you two to get acquainted." With that, the Majestrix slipped back out of the music room into the castle beyond.

Lynx picks up the child - light in her arms - and she nods respectfully, "Thank you for having me, Majesty." She smiles at the child in her arms then looks back up at the dark queen. "I will do my best."

Nox entered the Courtyard, guiding her young charge. With a majestic movement, the barely clothed Fey woman motioned around it,
"Go where you blood bids you," she informed the other,
"If my sources are correct, you will there find what has long been lost."

The mancubus was well beyond confused. Being contacted in the dead of night, being brought through a fairy circle, and now wandering about a dilapidated courtyard with a half-naked woman. Things were certainly interesting. But Lu headed the woman's words. She felt strog and wise, and Lu could not help but feel pulled in the direction of some vegetation.

"...Something having to do with plants... Is there a greenhouse here? Or a solarium? I hope I'm doing this right." She couldn't help but feel inferior. Was she doing what needed to be done?

The woman nodded,
"Go in that direction then, and we shall see," she informed the other, her words slightly cryptic mostly for her own entertainment. Finally, another of her people released. Perhaps they would soon have the numbers that it appeared the Sun Court had...

The mancubus hated to lead, but did what was instructed of her. She crept past the fire pit, straining not to look down into its depths. She wandered int he direction of the castle itself, feeling that was correct. The essence, whatever it was in the air, pulled her in that direction. To the castle! Inside![/i it seemed to beckon, and Luciel followed. Checking every so often over her sholder to see if the strange, midnight woman was following, Luciel passed beneath the iron gates and into the castle.

The castle was dark, dank and secretive. Sniffing the air, it seemed moldy, or unkempt. But still, it held an air of mystery, much like her companion of sorts. Since the woman followed behind her, Luciel offered to stop and wait for her.

Nox followed easily, translucent wings beating a gentle tattoo primarily from the woman's own boredom,
"Continue, continue," she motioned forward,
"Believe me, it will be quite difficult for you to lose me."
