Sinter crouched down next to the wheel as it spun around. He was prepared to catch either of his gerbils if they tripped and fell off.

Aandes stepped into the athletics center on the third day, eager to check out the competition. He subtly side-eyed Dictys with ey's gerbil. Laureate didn't appear to have been quite the competition in the wheel, now did he. Aandes carefully handled a very slender white gerbil with both of his hands. Today he'd be nicer and see how that worked.
"Heeere, little guy... Yeah, get in the wheel... It's okay. It's okay,"

The gerbils seemed to be slowing down a little bit. Sinter considered this an improvement from simply having one stop and get spun off the wheel by the other.

Aandes raised his eyebrows at the redblood nearby. He was testing two gerbils at once... And they were perfectly synchronized. Color him impressed. He looked at the gerbil of his own wandering about within the wheel.
"Wow, that's pretty impressive. Those your gerbils?" He nodded to Sinter's wiggly rodents in affirmation.

Sinter was trying very hard to muffle his gleeful surprise at his gerbils' second wind. They were doing so well! Sinter kept his hands pressed tight against his face in excitement.

Today's training regimen: THE WHEEL OF FIRE
My training total: 35 (+4 for combo!) BUST
Sinter was startled from his fixation on his gerbils' progress by the sound of a voice behind him. He turned and looked up from his crouched position to see a greenblood over his shoulder.
"Ah--Y-Yeah! They are, thanks!" Sinter wasn't used to receiving compliments easily, but he felt like he managed that pretty well.
EDIT: Sinter had only looked away for a second, but that was all it took for his gerbils to poop out on the wheel. Thankfully they both managed to stop at about the same time, and were simply lying down in the wheel as it swung itself into a stop. Sinter was a little embarrassed that had happened when he wasn't looked (and a stranger was, no less), but it was to be expected based on how hard they were running. Sinter cooed gently as he collected them off the wheel. Water bottles for everyone.

My training total: 19 + BUST! = 19
Aandes' own gerbil couldn't handle its own length. As it tangled and flopped like a sort of ungraceful limp sausage, Aandes stopped the wheel with a delicate finger through the top of the enclosure. He didn't particularly mind the failure -- the two gerbils that were now relaxing with Sinter were more important. He let the gerbil rest for a moment and closed in on the redblood, genuinely smiling.
"They're really cute. I'll look for them at the betting board," He scratched LaFayette between the ears. "Oh! I'm sorry. I'm Aandes, by the way... I'd shake, but..." He gestured to the gerbils filling Sinter's hands.
Aandes would leave the athletics center excited. He almost forgot to pick up his own test gerbil.
(my grand total = 19 training + 6 orp = 25!)

Etsali stared at some of the gerbils, pondering the odd task she'd been given. Making sports equipment that would make the little guys run even faster was a bit beyond her at the moment, but if it really came down to them looking good, she thought she might have an idea. They would have looked nice with masks, of course, something similar to her makeup and Keeper's scales, but they weren't thieves at all so maybe not. But maybe something sort of similar to a mask, maybe...Maybe sunglasses! If she could figure out how to make some tiny ones that would stay on, it might even keep their eyes clear of any dust!

Today's training regimen: WHEEL be victorious
Thinking a run in the wheel might make for good photo opportunities, especially for some experiments in long exposure—and, ah, good for training, of course!—Curtsi had high hopes in Daguerre as a subje—athlete.
Alas, the prim little creature proved not-so-great for either, and Curtsi tried not to sulk too hard about it.

Vitula stood there shaking his head wondering what he was even remotely thinking. Of course these gerbils would rip up the paper that was gerbil 101 basics. Still in defeat Vitula started to think of some other things he could do to help him forget about he previous task. He looked around to see that NummCorp was looking for a new way to spruce up the gerbils while keeping them just as speedy. That’s when it hit him, Shoes! Of course it was so simple to him now, shoes make them look good and are still a necessity to any good runner gerbil or not.

Today's training regimen: The Tubes!
The tubes had been working out well for Nervit and Chamomile in the past - so with a determined stride she headed to the same training equipment for today, even if it had been upgraded. The upgrade seemed to confuse poor Chamomile though, who cowered in the corner of the Krazy Tubes and only moved a little this time.

DAY 4 OF RACE PREPARATION!
New tasks have been posted for volunteers, and gerbils are refreshed and ready to train!
(Note: The WHEEL OF FIRE description has been clarified and is below.)
WHEEL OF FIRE: After the first roll, each consecutive success begins to accumulate a combo score that increases with every reroll. The first successful combo gets 1 extra gerbcurrency, the second gets 2 extra gerb currency, etc. Cap on the combo is 4 extra gerbcurrency per roll.
