[ ROOM 103 ]

As the door swung open, Brenley heard someone shouting back in the basement, but that wasn't why he hesitated to enter. The room he faced was blinding, its bright walls forcing him to squint. Following several minutes of horrified staring and awkward shuffling, however, he did step inside out of a sense of obligation, crossing the room to stand next to the dullest thing in it. The cabinet might have been comforting, if it hadn't smelled so odd. He tried to break it open, even going so far as to slap his palm against its doors, but it was locked. He thought about trying the axe on it, but he didn't have to be psychic to know how that would end.

Instead, he grabbed the pliers and headed back downstairs with them in full view.

Since it seemed as though everyone was already splitting up, Marzena had decided to slip out and make her way to the room which she had been exploring earlier. She had no time to wait around for plans to be set into motion, no time to coddle anyone. Besides, they already had a meeting point.

Key in hand, the ghoul strode her way into the library, where the remnants of a battered door and a table split in half lay. "This better work now." She muttered, and shoved the key into the keyhole, intent on opening up room 101.

shoved the key into the keyhole, intent on opening up room 101.

Music drifts through the door...
...It's a pleasant sound, at least. The room opens up before you, and you are quick to notice the source of the sound: an old fashioned gramophone sits on an ornate, though dusty, pillar. The cheery - if not delightfully static - tune continues, with the occasional skip likely due to the age of the record, and you allow yourself to take in the rest of the room.

In a word, it seems...comfortable. You feel yourself relax, despite your situation.

The walls are a pleasing beige and the furniture dark and dusty, well-worn but once upon a time well cared for. As you walk around the room you notice something else: A small fracs is laying on one of the big plush chairs, curled up in a tight ball. It has it's face to the dusty old couch cushion, so from where you are you're not sure if it is the same one that greeted you earlier. You strongly suspect it might be; the colouring is the same.

What should you do...?

Ignore the Fracs, Investigate the room:
You cast a glance at the sleeping Fracs, but instead choose to investigate the rest of the room. You search through drawers and under couches and chairs, but the only thing of note in the room is the gramophone - which is innocently playing music, and seems too dusty to be of use to anyone - and the Fracs. You may either [ Try to wake up the Fracs ] or you may [ Leave ].

The OOC!

[ IF YOU CHOOSE TO WAKE UP THE FRACS: ]
Please follow the 'Try to wake up the Fracs' tree below!

[ IF YOU CHOOSE TO LEAVE THIS ROOM: ]
You have now left the room empty-handed. The room, however, is now closed to you. You can't seem to enter it again, no matter how hard you try.

Try to wake up the Fracs
You approach the sleeping Fracs and no matter how loud you are it does not stir. It stays put, face to the cushion, snoozing away. Now, how to get it to wake up...

The OOC!

You may choose to wake up the Fracs however you wish:

  • Talk to it: The Fracs remains unresponsive until you yell. Then it wakes up, startled, and after staring at you for a few seconds, bolts out of the room.
  • Pet/Touch/Poke it: The moment you touch it, it startles awake and goes running without even trying to look at you.
  • Hit it: No matter what you hit it with or how hard you hit it with, the Fracs wakes up with a startled cry of pain. Before it takes off though, it slams one of its front hooves into you. -15HP.

You watch the Fracs leave, and when you look back at the space it had been occupying, you realize something odd: there was a small hole in the couch cushion! It looks like it's just long enough to fit your hand in...

Reach in?
If you are alone, you simply reach into the torn couch; if you're in a group you wait your turn, and reach in when the person ahead of you is finished. You feel around and realize very quickly that this particular couch must not have been very comfortable at all; it seems to be filled with many items, and very few of them are actually soft. Unable to see what you're picking up, up grab one of the items and pull it free.

The OOC!

  • With your post, roll a 1d20:
1: You find a Moonstone Gem! It's a little cracked, but it's glowing softly. You notice there is a tag on it, that says "POND IRIS".
2: You find a syringe filled with clear liquid - thankfully, it's safely capped. It has no tag on it. (OOC: PM "The Escaped" for further prompt! You don't have to include the prompt from the PM in your Room reply.)
3: You find Teddy Bear! It looks well loved (and maybe drooled on?). There is a brand new ribbon tied around its neck though, and a tag that says "A LIES".
4: You find a small wrapped parcel with "MAN RAZE" written on it in crude writing. Inside is a...Seal Skin?
5: You find a syringe filled with clear liquid - thankfully, it's safely capped. It has no tag on it. (OOC: PM "The Escaped" for further prompt! You don't have to include the prompt from the PM in your Room reply.)
6: You have a little difficulty, but you eventually pull free a tattered Hazmut plushie holding a home-made mug cozy. The plush has a new ribbon around its neck that says "GIVEN EEVE".
7: You find a syringe filled with clear liquid - thankfully, it's safely capped. It has no tag on it. (OOC: PM "The Escaped" for further prompt! You don't have to include the prompt from the PM in your Room reply.)
8: You find a string of orange beads. It has a tag hanging off of it that reads "MIRE".
9: You find a Copy of The Velveteen Rabbit! It's old and lovingly worn. You notice a small piece of paper tucked into the front cover. The paper reads "AURA SULK".
10: You find a syringe filled with clear liquid - thankfully, it's safely capped. It has no tag on it. (OOC: PM "The Escaped" for further prompt! You don't have to include the prompt from the PM in your Room reply.)
11: You find...a branch? A small one, and the leaves are dying, but it's a branch. It has "A LURE" written on a scrunched up paper tag.
12: You find a box of assorted jewelry. It looks home made. The box has "BERYL EN" written on the top.
13: You find a small box with "PITA HERMIT" written on the top. Inside is a star pendant necklace. It looks well loved and cared for.
14: You find a syringe filled with clear liquid - thankfully, it's safely capped. It has no tag on it. (OOC: PM "The Escaped" for further prompt! You don't have to include the prompt from the PM in your Room reply.)
15: You find a small bag of glowing blue mushrooms with "IT HAS AM" written on the outside of the bag. They don't look edible, but they're a pretty colour anyway.
16: You find a small clip of blue-green feathers. It has a tag hanging off of it that reads "AHA CUP".
17: You pull out a small box with "DRY ELL NIL" written along the top in crude writing. Inside is Three black rings (two thin, one thick banded).
18: You find a syringe filled with clear liquid - thankfully, it's safely capped. It has no tag on it. (OOC: PM "The Escaped" for further prompt! You don't have to include the prompt from the PM in your Room reply.)
19: It's...a piece of bone? It looks too big to be from anything normal sized. There is a small tag on it that reads "AI KIT"
20: You find a key! The tag simply says "B5" - Perhaps it's to a room?
  • These are one of a kind items, meaning that once one is rolled, it can not be rolled again. If you happen to roll an item that is already claimed, simply choose the one directly above or below it. If that one is claimed, move onto the next, etc etc.
  • If you are unsure if an item is taken (ie if I haven't updated it recently), ctrl+f "ROOM 101" to find the posts made in this room.
  • These items are yours to do with as you please! You may try to figure out who they belong to, or you may try to keep them, or maybe throw them away...but remember, it looks like most of these items are very important to someone...
  • If you are the first to roll a 20, congrats, you've found the key to one of the basement rooms! You should go there right away!

New item in hand, you look around the room and realize there is little else to search. The drawers seem mostly empty, and there is nothing of note in the immediate area to take a look at. The only thing around here may just very well be the people around you.

Eventually, you decide to leave the room and search elsewhere. When you go to leave the room, you happen to look over your shoulder: The Fracs is back, snoozing away on top of the same couch, in the same spot, in the same manner. It's strange, you think, but something compels you to leave the room anyway.

The OOC!

You may stay in this room if your characters would like to interact with others but, when you choose to move on, please follow this prompt:

You have now left the room, and are back in the hallway! The room, however, is now closed to you. You can't seem to enter it again, no matter how hard you try.

Maybe I should look elsewhere...
You look around the room, but don't find anything else in your search. The drawers seem mostly empty, and there is nothing else of note in the immediate area. You decide that your search is fruitless, and instead turn to leave, but just before you step back into the Library, you look back: the Fracs is back, snoozing away on top of the same couch, in the same spot, in the same manner, as when you first arrived. It's strange, you think, but something compels you to leave the room anyway.

The OOC!

You have now left the room empty-handed. The room, however, is now closed to you. You can't seem to enter it again, no matter how hard you try.

[ ROOM 101 ]

At least it now opened.

The faint strains of music grew louder as she pushed open the door and took in her surroundings. It certainly seemed like an ideal place to relax in... And the fracs snoozing away certainly thought the same. Instinctively, her eyes narrowed upon spotting the figure, and she took a step forward.

But a part of her reminded her of the threat that had been issued earlier, and a new rule directed towards her in particular. Normally, she didn't quite care about following instructions, but when her survival was at stake, she certainly was not going to cause the minipet any harm.

Not now, anyway.

She merely rolled her eyes and leaned down. "Hey! Hey you!" She certainly wasn't going to let it sleep away peacefully in her sight.

Its tiny body jolted in surprise and upon setting eyes upon her, its fur prickled and ran right for the door.

All it left was a hole in the couch, and curiosity got the better of her. A hand worked it's way into the hole and she was eventually able to haul out a piece of bone. "AI KIT." She read the tag attached to it out loud.

"I have no idea what this means."

Amphi seemed to be taken care of, and Gene knew that mourning the ghoul would do nothing for them. She loved Amphi, truly, but staying in just one spot would get nothing done. She decided to go upstairs, following the boil she didn't know and finding a payload of actual weapons, rather than the pathetic shank she'd made in a last-ditch effort to get some sort of weaponry.

Ditching said piece of wood, the Doppel took up the Ax that was in the cabinet, hefting it over her shoulder with apparent ease. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw another ghoul headed another way. She took note of her, and would follow, but not before swinging her new ax at the mysterious and foul smelling grey cabinet.

The axe hit its mark, and it did make a dent but, unfortunately, did not break through the metal. Gene's arms might feel a little wobbly though, from the vibrations.

"Yes, I am Aurel." He gave a nod of his head and glanced over to the stairs. Though he was loathe to leave Pachua alone, the other boil seemed to know well enough how to handle himself. He had been ready to use a coffee pot, of all things. He made do with what he had.

"Only way to go is up," he said with a shrug of his shoulders, tightening his grip on his bag and heading upstairs cautiously. He wasn't sure what he would find, but so far he hadn't heard any terrified screams from the upstairs floor.

The first thing he heard was some jaunty music coming from room 101 and so he glanced at Mathias again, shrugged, and pushed the door open.

[ ROOM 101 ]

There was the Fracs, sleeping on the couch. It was almost cute, until you thought of what exactly it had done so far.

"HEY!"

There was a brief stare-off and Aurel narrowed his eyes, about to speak and ask something before it flew off, leaving behind a...hole? In the cushion?

"...Maybe something is in there," he said quietly, indicating to the hole. Or something bad. But he was curious, and so he reached in to feel around, coming out with a string of orange beads. It has a tag hanging off of it that reads "MIRE".

Unfortunately, again, he didn't know how to read. Luckily, Remi had been one of his roommates and had said something about beads going missing. "...I think I know who these belong to. Mathias - Is anything else in there?" For some reason, he didn't want to go searching around in it anymore...

Grunting and shooting the lock a glare, Gene shook out her arms one by one, hefting the ax to the other hand as she shook her right arm out. She hefted the ax over her head once more, this time foregoing the lock for the cabinet itself.

[ ROOM 101 ]

Ignoring her lack of success with the cabinet, Gene followed the music, and the other two boils she'd seen cross through her peripherals, into a room with a rather nice, if not cliche, melody and decor. Aurel and... the rabbit eared boil. Oh Jack... Genevieve, this was not the time! He would get creeped out he would-

Scritch scritch. Ghostly fingers were invading the poor boil's personal space and giving his ears a good scratching, a cerulean blush smeared on the offender's face.

"Hello, boils. What did we find?"

The cabinet - and its lock - withstood the violent barrage.

Mathias followed, in that he made sure he stayed right next to the other boil, ears swiveling and on the alert, though as soon as they reached the next floor, those ears were quickly invaded by music.

Shrugging his shoulders when Aurel looked at him, he could only say "Might as vell, vut more can it be hurting?" Before following him inside.

[ ROOM 101 ]

The Frac's was there, but even as Aurel yelled at it, Mathias growled, his hands balled into fists at his sides. It took off, and Aurel was making his way towards a hole in the cushion, sticking his arm in with barely a thought.

Mathias cringed slightly, half expecting the other boils arm to suddenly be ripped off by whatever was on the other side.

But all he came out with was beads. Brightly colored beads. Mathias frowned, and stepped forward, craning up on his thickly soled boots, noting that they had a tag.

"Can not be hurting to look am guessing." Well, it hand't hurt Aurel to look, at least. Mathias took a deep breath before he reached his arm inside and groped around.

His hand closed around something, and he pulled it out. A bag? The bag wasn't familiar itself, and the tag attached to it, upon reading, was nonsensical at best. Slowly, he began to open the bag.

When suddenly there were fingers scratching at his ears. Mathias, for one brief moment, when completely rigid.

And then he melted, his body relaxing as his right foot began to beat a rhythm against the floor.

"Oh..oh no...no stop..." He said in a breathy voice, while tilting his head away just slightly as though he was somewhat half assed sort of trying to get away from...

A ghoul.

Ghoul's were always nothing but trouble.

"Well, we found The Frac's hiding spot. I believe that some of our things are in there." He held up the orange beads as Gene came in, sliding them into the bag on the crook of his arm for safe keeping.

"But now I feel like if I go back into the hole something bad will happen." Just a feeling, nothing concrete - but he wasn't going to try it. Nope.

"...Uh...." Dumbfounded look as the ghoul started scritching behind Mathias' ear. "Right. So. Do you want to look in there, too?" Maybe it would distract her and free Mathias. Subtle, right? Right.

It wasn't surprising when others began to arrive. She supposed it was the music that drew them here, and Marzena watched as they too, pulled other things out of the couch.

Beads.

She stared at the item in Aurel's hands thoughtfully. Hadn't Pachua mentioned that someone else had lost that particular item? A sudden thought struck her and amidst her attempting to ignore that disgusting display of affection or whatever that was, the ghoul inched her way to the couch, intending to try and grab something else, or maybe even tear it apart..

No. If her suspicions were true and her pelt was in there, she had to be delicate. Careful. Her hand reached down towards the hole again.

Here goes nothing, she thought.

Oops, okay. The boil was asking him to stop, so she definitely did. "Wait, our belongings are in there?" She started, wide eyed. Was... it in there? She drove her free hand right into the hole, slightly wild eyed.

What she pulled out wasn't what she'd hoped to find, but rather a very suspicious looking syringe. She stared at it for a while, incredulous, but decided to pocket it anyway.

"Oh, hey there." She acknowledge the ghoul with them with a nod, before turning to the boils again. "So...now what? Go back downstairs?"
