Cervus coughed and straightened his tunic and hair, trying to compose himself and regain his air of regality. He rubbed the bump on his head with a slight wince. "At least Aesculus didn't see me do that. I'd never hear the end of it."
He gave Muris a slightly pained smile. "It's all right, little one. No permanent harm done. My fault for not paying attention to my surroundings."
Sunshade quieted at the reprimand from the fey child and actually looked abashed. He lowered his head to rummage through the hay and try to disappear. Quite a feat for a huge horse.

She nodded, smiling brightly, "If'n yer sure..." she stuttered out, "Well..um...I dun think Aesculus would really hold it 'gainst ya...e's really nice 'n all..an'..uh...if...if ya want anythin' just ask. I'll be 'round..."
She scampered off into the stall again to get another forkful of soiled hay for the wheelbarrow.

Cervus continued to rub his sore head and chuckled. He reached over to pat Sunshade's flank then emerged from the stall.
"You have been well I hope, Muris?" he asked after the child.

Muri nodded, but then her eyes grew wide, and she shuddered, falling to the ground.
She wanted to scream, there was so much pain, but no sound came out-- only tears pouring from her eyes as her knees hit the floor and her hands shortly after them.

Cervus pressed himself back against the side of the stall, watching in horror as the transformation began. No matter how many times he witnessed such things, it never got any easier for him. "Muris!" he called out, "Be strong child...you are growing...it will hurt, but only for a short time!" Meanwhile from Muris streamed blue white light which enveloped her until nothing of her could be seen. It pulsed like a beating heart, growing with each staccato thumping. Then all at once it was gone, and where the child had been, a teen girl of 17 summers lay, exhausted and weak in the aftermath of transforming.

When it was over, she sat there for a moment, her breathing coming in heaving gasps. After a short time she felt some semblance of strength returning to her, and managed to wipe at the tears still falling. She stopped, stunned, when she saw her own hand.
She was..bigger...older..she'd changed...
"What....? Why...?" Tears burst forth again, and she buried her face in her hands. She was just so tired..and this...and..everything..

Cervus knelt to comfort the once child and held her gently. "There, there, Muris. You are one step closer to where you, by rights, should be. You are a young lady now, and as such, I elevate you to the head wrangler of my stables. Do not shed tears...it is a blessing in asmuch as it is a curse. Come child, let us go find others, Lilium must be told."

The little mouse nodded, letting herself be swept away from the confusion by the comforting voice of Cervus, who certainly knew enough to still her worries.

(Old habits die hard? razz )
RP: Filix, Muris, and anyone else that wants to join in. xd Setting: Stables, and surroundings.
_______________
Filix stepped through the entrance to the stable, breathing in gently the smell of the hay and horses. She loved coming here, coming to see Fera and the other horses. The only thing Filix didn't like was how empty she found the castle still; she hadn't once crossed another when she visited.
Of course, visiting late at night probably didn't help.
But it wasn't late at night now, Filix thought with a smile as a much more alert Fera snorted at her and pawed at the ground. She murmured softly to the young male horse, "Looks like you've been doing as I have, you're getting quite muscular and handsome. It's a wonder you're not with a herd of mares to yourself, out in the fields. Looks like you're just as happy here though..."
She took a seat in front of Fera's stall on a bale of hay, and relaxed.

Muri had been cleaning tack in the big stall she'd used to be in when she was still cursed. It was the biggest room, so the smell of the soap wouldn't soak her too thoroughly or have a negative effect on the horses-- it wouldn't be able to saturate everything, at least. And she'd always been against cleaning in the middle of the stable, even at night.
She carried the not-so-heavy-anymore saddle out of the room, wiping her brow with her hand a moment after propping the thing up on her leg and leaning against a stall for support...and then she blinked, peering into the darkness, "Hello? Is someone there? Alcie?"

"Who's that?" Filix didn't recognize the voice, and instinctively, her hand went to her side where she'd had her sword hanging for the past few months. Of course, it wasn't there and she sheepishly put her hand around her stomach instead, as if that was her intention all along. "I'm here... but who are you?"
She held the light up to light the stables more, casting light across Muris's adult face. Filix blinked, the face was familiar enough. But she still couldn't match a name to it.

"Oh!" Muris gasped, nearly dropping the saddle, "You're certainly not Alcie...hello Lady Filix." She dropped a quick curtsey-- a clumsy feat considering the saddle in her arms, "I was just finishing my cleanup..I'm sorry I startled you."
She hadn't seen Filix in quite some time..and was fairly certain something about the woman had changed, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"No, I'm not. And I'm not startled really, just surprised. It has been a while since I have been out and talking to others." Filix grinned, and carefully put the lamp on the ground so that it cast light through the middle of the stables. "...Muris? Is that you?"
She stood up, and walked over to stand next to the other woman. It was hard to believe, and Filix found herself staring. "It couldn't be..."

Muris nodded, setting the saddle on a rail designed for that purpose, and curtsied properly this time, "Yes, m'lady, it's me. Is there something I can do for you? Any specific reason you are out here in the middle of the night? I must confess I find it strange-- not many people come here this late, and not frequently."
The horse in the stall near her made a soft whickering sound, and she lowered her voice a bit more so she didn't disturb it, "Or would you rather I left you alone?"
She didn't know if Filix would still want to be her friend..maybe she was feeling the difference in class just as Muri was..
