"...Tucker. I'm going to level with you on this one. I don't think I'm going to be able to make a dent in this guy, especially since he looks like he knows his way around and through a spear. If we fail here...Then I need you to run with Issac and Timmy. I'll try to protect you as much as I can." He steps forward, attempting a thrust, which is easily parried.
"Felix... Ya need to live for your brother. I don't wanna care for two orphans when ya can help. A boy like ya can't even scratch this guy's back so ya shouldn't be on the offense even though ya got a log."
After the little reply, Tucker looked down at the bullion the elder gave him. This money could buy a better weapon or maybe something at the shop, but he didn't have the time to go spending. Their survival hung in the balance. If only they had time.
He knew attacking without patience couldn't damage the swordmaster, but since the elder ordered him to Tucker felt obligated.
The green haired young man swung the tree branch at the enemy hoping the group onslaught would work or some deus ex machina would save them.

After easily dodging the last attack, the swordmaster steps back and smirks. However, that smirk goes away as a small cut appears on his cheek. "...You piece of s**t. You actually managed to touch me, old man..." The swordmaster grabs his sheath and lifts the blade out slightly with his thumb. "Fun and games are over..." He grips the hilt and crouches slightly as he glares at the elder. "I think I'll start with you."
The swordmaster dashes forward, towards the elder, when suddenly a flash of feathers whirls passed the swordmaster, clashing against his sword. The swordmaster is pushed back with great force, tumbling along the ground before recovering and skidding to a halt. He looks around and quickly catches sight of of a bird laguz untransforming as it flies between him and the villagers.
"There you are, you b*****d. It took me longer than I thought to pin-point you in the dark, but now that I'm here, I'll make it simple for you. Instant death from a high drop or a painful, prolonged death from a shorter one?" Tibarn briefly glances behind him to see the fallen villagers, in particular the woman laying near the bald child. "...On second thought, I take that back. Scum like you doesn't deserve an quick death."
The swordmaster smoothly rises to his feet, discreetly keeping one hand behind his back. "Nice offer, but I think I'll pass, hawk man. Another time..." Before Tibarn can act, the swordmaster pulls out some warp power from behind his back and throws it to the ground. The powder swirls up around the bandit and when it clears, the swordmaster is nowhere to be seen. Tibarn grits his teeth and curses under his breath.
The elder steps forward. "...You are Tibarn of the council, are you not? Do you know what is happening?"
Tibarn turns half-way and eyes the surviving villagers. "Guess news doesn't travel fast out here. I'm not on the crew anymore, so I don't know all the details, but the army's been deployed. I've been flying around, trying to help as many people as I can. Sentrian bandits are attacking all over the south-west of the country. If I had to guess... I'd say it's war." Tibarn turns away, taking a step forward as he stretches his arms. "Do yourselves a favor; go to Eyris. You'll be safe there. Everyone else around here has either already escaped or they're dead. Sorry I can't take you there, myself. Gotta fly. Well done surviving against these guys, though... don't take it for granted." Tibarn leaps off of the ground and takes flight, transforming into his animal form soon after.
The elder faces the three villagers as Issac runs up and stands beside Felix. "I feel he is correct. We're not safe yet... we should go. There's nothing left for us here. We only have each other, now."
As the fires continue to burn, the group quickly makes their escape from the village. Tucker and Felix help the elder carry out Sarah and the other two villager's bodies. Atop a nearby hill, they silently bury the bodies and then turn to look at the dying remnants of their village. At the urge of the elder, they reluctantly headed out, towards the capital of Learania, where their sanctuary lay. There was no looking back.
Thanks for taking part in the villager test game. Hopefully this gave you a hint to what timeframe the story takes place in, the tone of the games, and how the villagers will be involved in the future chapters.
