The Storm proved who had the superior chair swing with his previous one, knocking the chair clear out of Cartwright's hands! This was his chance to send Cartwright flat on his a**! Matt brought his chair to the side and aimed to bring it swinging in... only to have it kicked right out of his hands!
Matt's eyes went wide with a mixture of rage and shock; how dare the Talented One live up to his name! Quick to react, Matt backed up and hastily grabbed another chair, arming himself once more!

Matt looks like he has the chair secured in his hands, until Cartwright lunges forward to try and take it away from him! The two men have two hands on the same chair! Cartwright knows he is at a power disadvantage, so rather than pull, he aims to twist the chair and try to break the challengers grip that way!

The Champion and The Contender both had their hands locked onto the chair, and it was almost guaranteed that Shanahan would get the upperhand with this one. Right as he went to yank it away, Cartwright began to twisted it about! The Storm's wrists did not agree with the movement, causing his grip to slip away from the weapon of steel destruction! Matt was left without a chair!
With wide, furious eyes, The Storm quickly backed away from Cartwright, mentally hoping that the man wasn't going to come in swinging!

Cartwright sees Shanahan backing away as he raises the chair up behind his head, the crowd cheering as they expect him to take a swing! He takes a swing, a very wild swing, at Matt's skull as he spins 360 degrees with the chair due to how much power he puts behind it!

The Storm's gaze was filled with blind rage at the side of Cartwright advancing at him. He had to act now, and fast! Shanahan aimed to close the gap and kick that chair right into The Talented One's face... but he was too late! The chair clocked The Storm square against the side of the head, sending Matt down to the canvas with his head buried into his arms!

Cartwright is surprised but delighted that his risky wild swing paid-off! Cartwright gets a nasty idea in his head as he sees Matt protecting his head, the side of it being struck viciously! He makes his way up the nearest turnbuckle and signals for a elbow drop as he leaps-off, going in the direction of his head while holding the chair!

Matt was laid out from the chair shot, there was no way he could avoid Cartwright's continued attacks! The smaller man landed hard on The Storm, connecting with elbow and chair for a harsh impact! When he landed, it seemed to be enough force to cause a malfunction in the chamber. The entire structure shook, and the remaining pods opened wide, allowing for full access to their arsenal! What kind of crew was doing upkeep in the WWF:G?!

Cartwright hoped that dive would hurt Shanahan, but it seems to have been so strong that the chambers have been broken by the sheer greatness of the spot! Cartwright kinda hopes that he didn't kill Shanahan! He doesn't want to go to jail and have his arsehole ripped-open and destroyed by those inmates! Cartwright figures out an amazing plan! He goes to the chamber that contains the ladder and sets it up in the middle of the ring as Matt is down! Cartwright begins to climb the ladder as the contender shows signs of life!

The Storm's chest was in a world of pain after that elbow drop from the heavens; or, the top turnbuckle. His arms were clutching his ribs, sure that there were some cracked ones at least! The fans were electric, their champion had this match in the bag already! He had the ladder, and he was already climbing it to victory.
Matt's senses were dulled, focused on the pain from the elbow drop. Perhaps it was a botch? Would that explain why it seemed this match was near it's end? The fans didn't care, they just knew that this could be the end of The Storm's reign over Wrestlemania.
As Cartwright was beginning to reach the top of the ladder, Matt showed more than signs of life. Like an adrenaline shot to the heart, he pushed off the mat and went sprinting at the ladder, as if he hadn't taken a hit all match. With lightning speed, he bolted up the ladder, hoping to meet the Talented One at the top and stop him from getting the title!

Cartwright had nearly reached the top of the ladder! He was about to climb up the final step and reach up for his title with both hands when Shanahan meets him up on the other side of the ladder! Screw you punk! Cartwright aims a right hand at the challengers face to try and knock him off!

The right connects with authority, bouncing off the side of Shanahan's head! He was close to staggering and falling off, but this was a belt he had aimed for since last year's Wrestlemania! If Kelly King couldn't stop him, no one was going to.
After the right connected, Matt's own right arm shot out in an attempt to grab the champion by his locks. If successful, he'd pull his face downward, hoping to smash it against the top of the ladder!

Cartwright was looking chuffed as Matt staggered and wobbled, but the smile is wiped off his face when Shanahan grabs a hold of his beautiful hair and slams his face into the top of the ladder! Now Cartwright is the groggy one as his head goes around in circles! He clings on to the ladder with both hands!

Matt's grip immediately went back to the ladder, grasping the edge tight enough to prevent him from falling. His eyes danced over the groggy Cartwright, plotting silently as he tried to keep his hold on the metal frame. What could be going on in the contender's mind?
The Storm pulled himself up onto the ladder until his feet were on the very last rung. From there, he attempted to pull Cartwright's head in between his legs in a powerbomb position! Should he succeed, he'd let loose a mighty roar, signalling that this could be the climax moment of the match! He'd attempt to lift Cartwright up onto his shoulders in a Gory Bomb stance! The fans were already on their feet, jeering as loud as they could. They feared what could follow this!

Matt gets a hold of the dazed Champion, lifting him up and placing him into the Gory position! This looks like a bad situation for Cartwright as the only thing keeping him from falling right now is Matt!
