"My step-dad abuses me" she said looking down. "I'm not even considered family....more like a servant a badly treated one. My mom is always drunk...she just watches and laughs when he beats me...my stepsister will say and do anything to cause a beating..." She said telling him. "If she tells him she's seen us talking... This time he'll...." She couldn't even say it it terrified her to think of it.

Micheal listened to Alyssa, his jaw tightening as he listened. How could people be so cold. Was it why her father left? "I'm sorry Alyssa..." He said as he looked down. He wasn't sure how he could help her in that situation. "Like I said before, we'll talk in private only. That way your step-sister has less she can use against you." He said. He would love to get his hands on her step father. He'd show him what its like to be on the recieving end of a closed fist. He sighed then shook his head. "Lunch is going to end soon. I should get going." He said as hhe slowly let go of her hand. "Here's my number. Call me anytime." He said as he wrote his number on a piece of paper and put it on a desk. Take it if you want." He said as he looked over his shoulder at her, giving her a warm, friendly smile. Once her was out the door and a good ways away from the room, he punched a locker hard.. He sighed and walked around for a while.

Alyssa nodded. "Okay" she said a little glad that she had someone to talk to. She took the number and nodded. "Okay thank Micheal" she said and smiled softly. Her first smile in a few years. She watched him leave then looked out the window trying to relax a bit before the bell rang. Alyssa sighed and grabbed her bag going to her next class.

Micheal saw Alyssa smile. It was good to see that smile. He smiled back. At his next class he couldn't concentrate at all. He kept thinking about Alyssa's shitty life. After his last couple classes ended, he headed home. Much to his dismay though, his brother picked up the fight that he started that morning. Micheal stormed back out and went to the gym again and used a punching bag. Catching his breath,he sat down. "Hey Micheal. Everything alright?" The owner of the gym asked as he sat next to Micheal. "Nah. I've been having a lot of problems at home these past few days. And someone I know is, well, they have a really shitty life." Micheal said and sighed. "Why not get your own apartment? There are some cheap ones round here." "Really? I'll check them out. Thanks." He said.

Alyssa went home just like always and this time she wasn't lucky enough to not get a beating. Her stepsister mentioned her arm in school was bandaged and her step-dad got mad and gave her another beating.

Micheal went and checked a few of the apartments. He found a nice one that wasn't too expensive. It was a good size too. He talked to the owner of the house. After talking for a bit they signed an agreement. "Great. I'll begin moving my stuff tomorrow." He said. He went home, ignored his family and went to his room. He packed all of his things up then went to bed. He woke up the next morning and went to school.

Alyssa woke up the next morning and decided to get to school a little late. She was in so much pain and her body looked blue and black everywhere. She put on her sweats and her hoodie glad that it hid her body. She was glad he avoided her face this time but she really didnt want to go to school. She went to her first period handing the teacher her tardy pass. She hid her face but tears streamed down her face from all the pain she was in.

Micheal didn't see Alyssa until first period. He saw her come in late and moving slowly. When she walked by him, he saw tears streaming down her face. He grew angry, but hid it as best as he could. It didn't help tbat he was gripping the side of the desk hard enough to turn his knuckles white. When no one was looking he wrote a quick not and passed it to Alyssa. 'Did he beat you again?' The note said.

Alyssa sat down hiding her face not wanting anyone to see her crying. She looked at the note and opened it. She wrote back a simple yes and made sure no one was looking before giving it back to him. It hurt but she couldn't just stop moving. She was seriously considering not going to anymore classes after this.

Micheal read her quick yes then thought for a moment. 'Meet ne un the empty classroom after this.' He wrote quickly then passed the note back to Alyssa.

Alyssa looked at the note and nodded hoping he saw it. She tried to focus on class but it was hard. The bell rang and she grabbed her things the tears starting again as the pain returned from moving. She made her way to the classroom and sat down.

micheal did see the nod. After class, he wondered for a bit so Alyssa could get there before him. He then walked in and sat next to her. He looked over at her and asked. "How bad do you want to get away from that hell hole you live in?" He asked as he sat in front if her si she wouldn't have ti tyrn her head to look at him.

Alyssa looked at him when he came in and sat in front of her. "More than anything" she told him wiping her face despite the pain she was in. She didn't like people seeing her crying.

Micheal looked at Alyssa then reached for her hand. "I just got an apartment today. Move in with me." He told her as he took her hand. "Do you wajt to?" He asked her. He hoped she would. It would be better for her.

Alyssa let him hold her hand and was surprised by what he said. "Move in with you? But I don't have any money or anything" she told him. "He might come find me" she warned him.
