"It has just enough in common to make the alien beauty stand out all the more starkly. I have never seen anything like that," she said, gesturing at the lighting fixture. She didn't even have a word for it, nothing that came close. "And how do you not feel too much heat in here in the hot months?" she asked. "It is huge, but seems very closed off. Or is this area traditionally colder?" she asked, her eyes still staring upward.

"It is called a chandelier. And it is fire that lights it. This room is large, so it doesn't really make a difference as to the heat it puts off. But I can also regulate my body temperature. I do not generally get hot or cold."

"I do. In our homes, a room this size is usually very open to the outside to welcome breezes on the hot days. We have some cooling, but we use natural cooling more often than we use anything artificial. Of course, we also reduce the length and weight of the tunics we wear when the weather is warmer." her tail flicked a bit, her eyes still fixed upwards. "Can we get closer to it?"

"Of course." Hadrian wrapped his arms around her and floated them up to the chandelier. "Better?"

She gave a small animal sounding yelp of surprise, her ears laying flat. she gripped his arm, panicked, her claws extending into him reflexively, her fur puffing out around her neck and shoulders, her tail lashing back and forth violently. Her fear and surprise rolled off her in waves as she clung to him, not even aware that she might be drawing blood. (not sure if he bleeds like a human or if her claws could puncture his skin or what.)

Hadrian laughed, "It is alright kitten. I will not drop you. Though I would like to ask you to remove your claws from my arm. I'm no good if I bleed out."
He worked quickly to heal the wounds from the inside, at least enough to stop the flow of blood.
((He can be cut by her claws.))

Her fur and hair kept puffing out more and more, her tail lashing back and forth violently. her ears were all but invisible and her grip did not lessen in the least. Her fear remained unchanged, as though she had not heard him, and he could feel her certainty that she was slipping, that she was falling. Her panic was radiating out of her mentally in staggering waves.

Hadrian lowered them back to the ground. "It's ok. We're on solid marble now." He kissed her forehead and then licked his arm to finish off the healing.
"I would not have suspected my brave lioness was afraid of heights."

As soon as her feet hit the marble again, she started to calm. She pulled away and dropped to all fours, fingers retracting as she sat in her haunches. She breathed audibly for several minutes, wrapping her tail around herself, then almost like a switch was thrown she went from calming to calm, her eyes closed. he fur settled, her tail stilled, her muscles relaxed, her ears reappeared. She stayed that way a moment more before standing, ears folding halfway back in sheepishness. "I apologize," she said softly. "I do not know why I reacted that way, it was not the way I should have acted. I have stilled my mind. I apologize for my outburst." She winced a bit. "And for hurting you."

He shrugged, "It is fine. I have taken care of the wound. You were frightened. It was not meant maliciously." He stretched his hand out to hers, "I did not mean to frighten you. Only to help you see it better."

She nodded briefly, her ears dipping further back. "And I was not afraid of heights," she said defensively. "I am a warrior, not a cub to fear the world. I just... didn't expect it is all. That's all. Next time, tell me what you're going to do, and I'll be fine, you'll see," she said her tail moving violently around her legs. One did not have to be telepathic to know she was angry at herself, not him, and more embarrassed than anything else.

Hadrian nodded, 'I see. Though I think that even warriors fear. At least those who have any common sense and logic do. Being a warrior, to me, does not mean I am unafraid. It means that I do my duty regardless of the fear."

An ear flicked almost back into visibility before hiding back into her hair again. "Can... we talk about something else now?" she asked, tail still lashing in agitation. The only good thing about that whole fiasco was that her family wasn't there to see it. Her claws flexed in and out and a whiff of something caught her nose. She lifted a hand and her claws extended so she could see the traces of his blood on her. Her pupils dilated and her ears pressed even flatter against her head, not that they could have been seen any more under her long hair. "You're hurt! I hurt you!" She rushed towards him to look for the wound, concern and regret radiating out of her.

Hadrian held out his arm, "No harm. I've already healed it. And it was only a scratch. I might not have healed so quickly had I not fed earlier. But there was no harm done."

She touched his arm, running a sensitive finger tip across the arm, and he'd feel the tension drain out of her as her finger verified what her eyes and nose told her. healed. whole. her tail stilled a bit, and her ears slowly reappeared as her eyes returned to normal. "Thank Ghyukulla," she whispered.
