[Wren Harbinger] Wren was silent, thinking over the redhead's words for a moment. Their muffled footsteps rang in her ears and she peered at the skeletal images of the houses lining the narrow street they had turned onto. After a few paces, she spotted the small structure in the distance and felt like she was a kid again, racing home with her brother. She turned her face down, trying to ignore those feelings. Her mind felt slow, like it was encompassed in thick fog.
Having processed the last of Elin's questions, Wren cleared her throat. "I wish I knew." She slowed her pace a little to allow the shorter girl to catch up and turned to look at her drenched form. "That's why I'm so desperate to search for something, I think. I just want to get out," she trailed off, looking down again. "Sometimes on expeditions, I imagine breaking off from the formation and running away, taking the risk of being eaten just to escape." Her brows furrowed, face going stoic in a way it hadn't before. "What do I have to lose, anyway?" -- ooc; i know ;m; gosh darn i was trying to be quick to reply tonight too, but my internets been really difficult

Elin DeraWhat am I missing?
The childish looks on her face seemed to drain away as Wren spoke, face drawn, more stoic with an angered undertone. She tried long and hard to bite her tongue, but she simply couldn't. It made a bitter taste rise in her mouth, contrasting the fog of her general drunken behavior. Her yellow eyes were sharp as she made it ahead of Wren to look back at her. "Only your life, perhaps some of your fellow soldiers. Nothing major." her response was blunt and even, emotionless. And perhaps, with her words now, Elin would lose a friend almost as quickly as she had made one.
OoC: It's okay, you tried.

[Wren Harbinger] Wren stopped, path having been barricaded by the shorter girl. She sighed, reaching to force her heavy, soaked bangs out of her eyes. "I don't do it because I can't allow myself to abandon my peers. So I keep myself sane by walking until my legs can hardly hold my weight anymore in hopes that one day we'll all be leaving these walls." Her dark, mossy gaze locked onto Elin's narrowed amber colored eyes. "Just hard to stop my daydreaming sometimes," she softened a little, shoulders slumping along with her expression, now a little regretful. "I guess that sounded a little selfish," she sighed. -- ooc; have mercy star-sama~ /bows lmao

Elin DeraWhat am I missing?
"We do what we must, searching for reasons to live." She elected not to scold Wren further. Not only did she not wish to, but the brunette definitely understood, and didn't really deserve to be treated too harshly. It wasn't easy, living like this. But at least the younger woman had much more luxurious ways to distract herself from life. Maybe she'd push around some people to make such things available to Wren.
Lifting a hand, she reached out an arm toward the older woman. Not that she was really that old at all. Her palm facing up, she extended her right hand as an offer to take, or simply a symbol to come onward. "Wren." Her tone was no longer accusing or sharp, or carrying any other malice.
OoC: That's senpai to you *is probably younger* (I feel so bad for Wren)

[Wren Harbinger] A small smile graced Wren's face, freckles distorting beneath the water droplets falling from the tips of her hair onto her cheeks. She eyed the girls small outstretched hand, fingers poised delicately, and was reminded of her brother again.
He was always convincing her to keep trying, telling her she could do it even if no one else was able. She had never been allowed to think little of herself around him. He'd looked up to her more than anyone else, and since he had been gone, she'd not been reminded that she was supposed to be a figure of strength and willpower. So her smile strengthened and she quickly grasped Elin's hand and strode forward toward their destination, pulling her along.
"Thanks for not chewing me out there, I could see that you wanted to." she said, turning to glance at her friend, smile still intact. "Wont happen again, ma'am." she giggled with a little sarcasm. -- ooc; i'm actually only just now 19. my birthday was august 26th ;o; maybe you are senpai. /elin is a good friend, she'll be okay uwu

Elin DeraWhat am I missing?
Elin smiled inwardly, squeezing the hand that now held hers a little.
That was, until she started practically getting dragged along. Oof, the booze in her tummy did not need the jog. But she didn't regret it, yet. "Oi, don't press your luck. I don't know how that attitude survived being a trainee, but if you keep joking about my title..." she threatened, though what she'd do, the young woman really was not certain yet. Perhaps replace a glass of water with something much stronger.
[EXIT Elin and Wren] OoC: Okay so I'm barely senpai.
