Larque

I chose option # : 1, straight ahead
My score is: 1

Larque snarled for other trolls to get out of the way as he flew down the first hill, slicing into several other sleds and an older troll in the process, the latter of which cursed as he was flung from a brilliant purple disk. Woops. The greenblood had been a little uneasy about how fast the sleds were, but being able to literally cut through the competition was pretty sweet, and he almost wished Mantismom could see. The steering was a little much for his small form to handle, but he managed to get down the first hill alright - only to grow a tad nervous again as he saw the next monstrously steep slope.

It wasn't too hard to settle on a sound decision. He was going too fast to even consider any other option but forging straight ahead, and the greenblood was willing to take a gamble with whatever was hidden beneath the snow.

Come to think of it, some of the comments in the magazines had been a little detrimental. Alexin’s opinions when the rocket sputtered and died were less than pleasant – but thankfully for the other young trolls surrounding him, no foul mouthed language was spewed. Not that he didn’t know it – little Alexin had learned a wide vocabulary from his precious books – but it was the floating shape of his lusus above him that prevented him from doing so. Instead he scowled, kicking at the useless rocket bits, hopefully breaking them off and giving him less drag. Then, heading for the hill he went straight for the construction route – if he started to fall into the hole Splitch would catch him anyway!

Spitting snow out of her mouth, Nervit scowled. There was no need for such behaviour. Picking up her sled she began to trudge down the hill, using the sled as a shield for the snowballs that kept coming her way. Her rounded cheeks burned from both the cold and embarrassment – but she wasn’t getting back on that stupid sled ; not yet anyway. Crunching carefully through the snow now, Nervit headed straight on through, typical black boots standing out starkly against the white snow, leaving barely-dented footprints in the wake thanks to her light stature. Someone was a little upset about being knocked from their sled, it seemed.

Quote:

If you picked 1):
You charge straight ahead, carving through the fresh snow with your sled. As your other competitors eat your snow, you find yourself laughing at the thought of not taking advantage of the perfectly safe hill. You're rather invigorated, and easily find your way to the next marker. Gain two points!

If you picked 2):
You turn the corner and - lo and behold - there's a convenient side road just a block away! Across the residential area you scoot your sled and turn onto the new road, which has already been packed down from Bloodfest revelers. Sure, you lost some time finding a nice safe alternative, but you gained a decent amount of ground on the residential road and locate your next marker. Gain one point!

If you picked 3):
You take a sharp right and careen through the construction zone, looking for the perfect exit to get back on track with the race. The construction drones cut quite the massive tunnel through the buildings, and soon a feeling of dread washes over you: this is definitely not a shortcut. You end up on a separate winding road through abandoned buildings, clearly not marked for the Bloodfest festivities. Better turn back around. Lose two points.

If you picked 4):
You get off of your sled, do a quick little stretch, and start your way down the road. Competitors pass you by, some waving cheekily. As you get to the bottom of the road, you realize that you probably could have saved some time by not disengaging from your sled, and now you need to do an awkward little rump-scoot to get your momentum back. Lose one point.

Next Choice:

Through the winding streets you go. The weather seems to be getting windier, a nice feathery snow turning into flurries. A massive construction area is up ahead. Piles of detritus and jagged metal stick out as hulking obstacles, some haphazardly covered in tarps. Monstrous diggers and cranes have been left to collect huge icicles. You emerge at a peak of the construction site, with the valley of trash below - the markers go around the huge piles like a roundabout cliffside path. You might be able to hop onto the piles and sled down them to take the more direct route to the next checkpoint. Alternatively, sabotaging the competition with those icicles is pretty tempting - or perhaps you have a hankering to find a sled alternative in the pile of trash?

1) Barrel straight down that trash pile! No use losing speed now!
2) Go around the marked off route, ignoring the urge to play dirty - or play in the trash pile, for that matter.
3) Sabotage! Those icicles are coming down!
4) Dig around in the trash for a sweet sled alternative!

While the blueblood ego inflated troll kid kept working on his version of a perfect snow rump, he didn't look over to the other contestants.

Mostly because Rump envy.

He kept going and before he could stop himself- The wad of snow lumps to be a rump began to crumble. Stepping back as he watched his hard work fall apart, Lunear glared and finally, said something out loud.

"The snow could not handle my skills at rump shaping...."

He took it very seriously.

He also glared at the snow, as if it had in some way, offended and worked against him.

Satisfied with the base of his snowtroll, Sinter diligently set to work rolling a snowball for the torso. Warmed up from round one, Sinter was making pretty good progress, when suddenly--

"Wow! Nice rump!"

Sinter startled and nearly tripped over his snowball. His blush was well-hidden beneath a layer of scarf and a perpetually-reddened face, cold weather notwithstanding, but Sinter felt the burn in his ears all the same.

He looked around in an accusatory manner before zeroing in on the bulky teal-blood building his own (less successful) snowtroll not far away. Sinter spared a few looks back to his own progress to reaffirm this stranger was talking to him. Why would a midblood bother complimenting him in the middle of a competition? Sinter was confused.

"Are you- Are you making fun of me!?" Sinter snapped before he could think better of it.

He couldn't bite back a sneer as you watched others trail behind him already. Pff, didn't they at least know a straight line was the fastest? Plus of course why would the Empress lay down a faulty route? Showed what they got for doubting their Empress.

At the sight of the trash heap he balked as terror tore at his very core. No......no no no. He avoided places like this.....such.....filth! Just being so close to such a mess he could already feel himself feeling faint, clearly the course hadn't been picked out for someone of his.....composure. As trolls barreled over the mounds of filth and other jumped into the piles he felt even more queasy. He had to get out of there.....fast! With all the speed he'd picked up tearing straight down the hill he set his jaw in a firm line and wrenched his eyes closed. He'd go over top. He had to get out of there. He had to get away from it. He couldn't stand being so close to such a mess.

Slow and steady wins the race. He saw others peeling off ahead of him, but he could also see he'd left a few in the powdered snow. Maybe they should've tried to play it safe....risks only held you back....unless they had luck like his sister. Anyone as.....unlucky as him had to actually think their way around problems....or in his case plug away without doing anything too dangerous.....he had enough danger to last him a life time.

As the garbage mound came into view he started. There was a route around it.....or he could go over it like a few others...but why were others rummaging around in the trash? Well....he didn't really feel too keen on losing precious time joining their hunt for...whatever they were looking for (especially not when some already looked like they were trying to sabotage the route), he would just go around the path.
