Dolmar
A firelizard egg? They were sharding overpriced things...but the young man couldn't deny his desire for one. The little creatures could be useful for numerous things. Not the least among them would be keeping an eye on his brother. The boy was a kind heart, and a gentle spirit, though sometimes Dolmar rubbed off on him more than intended. That trouble he'd gotten into before they left the hold...he'd kept poor Marinel on lock down until their recruitment was complete.
"So interested in that? I'm sure my face would look the same as yours when you impress," He teased. Then again, maybe not. Dolmar was reserved - Marinel wore his heart of his sleeve. Like now, of course, he was terrified of his brother's reaction to...whatever he had to tell. Instantly the man thought back to the reason he'd locked his younger brother up...stealing was not a light crime, though at least the boy'd been bright enough to disguise his attempts. Please, Faranth, not more of that. He was the elder, the one who should be providing for them.
"I promise, if you're going to keep insisting. I'm not going to be mad with you, whatever it is." Probably he would. But for Marinel's sake he could feign not being. No one could match Dolmar's poker face when he had a mind for it.
Greendrider F'ola
F'ola was as pleased as a dragon in an ovine pen with her pies. Steaming fresh and goopy, one to a hand, she was all but beaming when she turned to step away from the stall - and came up short, face to face with some poor fellow she'd nearly bowled over in her eagerness to find a table to settle at. She muttered a garbled apology, stepping back and to the side. Why was he leering at her that way? It was almost like she had personally affronted him, had personally come and, oh, she didn't know! Put firelizards in his pillow case! Something had to make a person glare that way, and she doubted it was to do with her nearly bumping up against him.
She was still trapped between him and the stall when someone else (another greenrider, by the knots) darted up, grabbed him by the belt, and stuffed a fisted hand down his pants! And worse, the woman took flight, and the man just. Kept. Staring. What...what in Faranth's name was wrong with Istans?! Dimly she felt a twang of regret for choosing such a strange place to transfer herself to.
She forced herself to swallow the lump in her throat. Behind her the masterbaker was calling out that they were closed for a candlemark or two to make more pies. There were no more pies. No more, and she'd taken the last of them. Ah. Ahhh.
Utterly befuddled, she raised a brow and stretched one pie-laden hand a fraction of an inch towards the fixated bluerider. "Uhm. I'm F'ola. I, uh, take it you'd like some pie...?" Oh, please don't be a crazy person. She didn't think a rider could be a crazy person. Would a dragon pick someone unstable? Well, one HAD picked her after all, hadn't they?

Z'fer and IacauthThe fancy belt knives were a little out of his price range. At least, if he wanted to eat or drink later on (and he did). The cheaper ones reflected their price and didn't appeal to the young man. He'd rather have one that was useful, AND impressive. Just like you Z'fermine? Iacauth teased from her perch. Z'fer shrugged to the air and his face split into a crooked grin. I have my strengths, and they're always impressive. He turned away from the smith as another merchants voice cut through his ego stroking. Gems? Maybe an earring would be a good purpose. Girls tended to like the bad boy look and while he felt he already embodied that to near perfection...an earring might add that extra umph he desired. A cheaper gem couldn't go amiss here at least. Small and rare, or larger and a more suitable color, he couldn't go wrong as long as it wasn't too obviously flawed. Z'fer made his way through the crowd towards the gem merchant. "Do you have the settings or just the gems?" He asked, getting right to the point once he was in earshot. The weyrling looked at the table first, then to the merchant, his flits, and finally his rider knots. A bluerider huh? Z'fer wasn't attracted to men himself, nor inclined to pretend to be, but with a flirty green all bets were off. It wasn't his fault if she played her game while he tried to haggle man to man.

Kaila glanced at her, "No. I"m sorry for not asking if you wanted to help pay for them." Kaila had more than enough marks on herself to afford the bubble pies though she didn't often spend them. She remembered her manners and that she'd forgotten to ask if Ashlyn had wanted to help pay for the pies.
" I simply acted on instincts." Kaila felt Maith nudge her shoulder.
Mine, sometimes buying something for another is a sign of friendship. Maybe she wants to pay you back as a sign of friendship too.
Kaila considered her words, "You can repay me though if you wish to." She smiled nervously.

Ashlyn "Do not worry about it, you probably didn't even think about it. I am like that too sometimes, just going to pay for things, since I like doing nice things for my friends. I would like to repay you, if you truly would not mind, Kaila. I just don't want you to have to use money you could use for other purchases too. I like looking out for my friends, whether they are new or old,"Ashlyn smiled warmly, getting the right amount out and putting it in her hand.
You truly are a kind person, Ashlyn mine. You really know how to look out for others. I am so proud of you,Gyafrith told her, bending down to nuzzle her cheek.

Kaila listened and nodded, "Thank you, Ashlyn. You are very kind." Kaila put the marks in her pocket before offering the bubble pies to her. "You are a very good friend. I don't actually plan on buying a lot this gather. I usually only buy stuff that Maith or I need at times."
Why not look for a new dress? Something in a bright color or something other than brown, mine. Maith suggested to her rider. I think there's a stall selling gems.
Kaila did not intend to buy a dress as she saw no point in it, her handful of brown and cream dresses worked for gathers and her other clothing worked for her duties as a rider. She didn't need jewelry either. Though..she looked at Ashlyn, "Would you like to browse the stalls with me and see what they have for sale?" She asked, wanting to spend more time with the girl.

Blue Flit Foen
He chittered angrily at the not-his-human that shooed him away from the pies. Foen evaded the grasp, but didn't get his pie. The blue circled over head as the human scolded him. He could catch his own food! He didn't need her to give him some.
He eyed the tray again then the human. The blue finally made up his mind and perched on a nearby stall. His eyes watching the pair and bubbly pies closely. He'd be good. For now. And get his treat. Greenrider LorendLorend scampered off through the stalls. She didn't hear any sound of pursuit yet. Quickly she came to a walk and started to leisurely stroll. Running made one stand out. Strolling let one blend in. She grinned as she paused to bend over a random stall and pretended to examine the fabrics on display. Tribleth trilled after her fleeing rider. Her eyes whirling with Lorend's good humor.Bluerider M'badM'bad was pleased as a weyrling came up. Greenrider from the knots. Very well then. "Aye only the gems. Don't have time for all the flippery metalsmithing. However, mine are quality stones. Ready to be placed into a setting of your choice. Instead of already having it in a ring or necklace, you can pick what you want the metalsmith to place it into. Save you a pretty mark already having the stone I'd bet." He wondered what the kid wanted it for. Himself? A girlfriend or boyfriend? In the end it didn't matter to him. "So what did you have mind? Looking for something in particular?" The brown flit watched the boy curiously.

Ashlyn "Well, you never know when something might catch your eye that you might want to get. I do try to be a good friend, it makes me happy to help others really. Probably why I became a healer and a rider, to help others. Actually, Gyafrith is as bad as I am. During his hatching, he was protecting one of his siblings before he came to find me. Yes, to answer your question, I would like to look around and see what they have,"Ashlyn smiled.
And I couldn't help it, my sibling was in trouble. I couldn't let them be bothered,Gyafrith spoke as Ashlyn patted his muzzle lovingly. He only remembered what happened because of his bond to his rider though.

"Indeed, though Maith has been pushing me to get a new dress. Wanting to help others is a very good quality for a healer. Though I actually became one at first because my mother was one and she's taught me from birth." Kaila looked at Gyafrith, "I remember that hatching. I thought it was very kind of him to do that for one of his siblings."
Maith nuzzled her shoulder, Mine, you do need some more colorful dresses.
Kaila fought the urge to roll her eyes. "I thought perhaps I saw someone with a stall selling toys or something too.
You should get something for Kiric, Mine.
Kaila nodded, wondering where her gold flit was at the moment. The flit was not in the weyr when she and Maith left for the gather, but the gold flit was probably looking for shinies or something.
"Ashlyn, you haven't seen a gold flit around, have you?" Kaila asked, wondering if Kiric was just flying around.

Ashlyn "Both of my parents are riders, so I guess it all runs in the family a bit. And yes, I thought so too, didn't know at the time he would end up as my own dragon. I thought he would want someone better than me. And yes, I heard about stuffed toys, should probably buy one for myself and some for my own siblings. And no, I can't say I have seen any gold flits around,"Ashlyn answered.
I already told you that you are my champion, Ashlyn mine. I think you are starting to understand that though. I haven't seen anything gold yet either,Gyafrith thought to her.

T'nus was delighted when the girl agreed to his price (which had been the best he'd gotten all night) even more so when Becka came up to his stall and asked for two more. Alright! Things were finally picking up. He handed the first two girls their pies and was about to get two more out for Becka when a (seemingly) wild flitt flew towards them with the intention of stealing one or more of them. Yet before Tnus even had a chance to get angry, Becka had shooed him away. For good measure, Boreas took off from his shoulder and landed on the top of the stall, glaring down watchfully for any new intruders, although it seemed the blue had decided to behave itself for now. Tnus chuckled as he wrapped up the girl's bubblypies, slipping an extra one in as a small sign of appreciation. "Thanks" he said, handing her the pies. "So how's your gather been."

"There, that's better! You must have an owner since you're here and not vanishing off Between like some wild thing" she smiled at the flit that seemed to decide to behave. "Just give me a moment to pay and i'll give you some" she told the blue flit. "Oh?!" she turned her head to the rider behind the stall, "Oh it's no problem, i wasn't about to watch him steal, though i can't blame him, they smell really good" she said, smiling at him. "It's been alright, i've not long come out to enjoy it actually, you're the first stall i've come to." She handed over her marks, glancing at the flit so she hadn't noticed the rider/baker slip an extra pie in her bag. It wasn't until she reached in to take a bit off for the flit that she noticed. "Oh! oh excuse me, you put too many in here, i only asked for two" she said, turning back towards the rider/baker even though she already realised he'd probably done it on purpose but she'd already spoken.

Navi just pouted the whole time Jnes was laughing at him. Clearly the boy did not think this was funny. Finally, Jnes seemed to propose a compromise.
"Hmm.." Navi looked the new toys over shrewdly. None of them were dragons, but one of the fishes was blue, and there was a canine that looked just like the one they had at home. Plus he already had the painted wooden dragon toys his daddy made him. "Really?" he asked Anri. No one had ever bought something for him before. Well, no one who wasn't his mom or dad at least. He looked back at Jnes "half a mark?" he asked hopefully, taking out the coin to add to Anri's.
In the mean time, while he was looking, a new girl had appeared that Navi didn't know. At first, Navi inched his way closer to Anri's leg nervously, but the two seemed to know each other. In fact, it seemed like they were related. He looked from one face to the other, not quite sure what they were talking about. "Who are you?" he asked her innocently. In fact, he still didn't know who Anri was, but he seemed to have forgotten that.
~~~
"Oh, did I?" Tnus said, playing dumb. "Well, you may as well keep it then, especially if you're going to share with that hungry guy." he said, nodding towards the blue firelizard. Meanwhile, brown Boreas watched Foen suspiciously. He did not like the idea of him getting any of the pastries, whether he stole them or not.
Marinel silently disagreed. He didn't think, even upon Impressing, that Dolmar would share his joy with the rest of Pern. "I think a firelizard will make you happy, Dolly," he added, seriously. His main goal, the one thing he wanted more than even Impressing himself, was to see his twin truly happy. He glanced towards another stall, and lead Dolmar towards it. "Look at these!" He exclaimed, admiring J'nes' work. They were plushes, like the ones Marinel remembered owning before their mother had fallen I'll. He only stayed for a moment however, and instead pulled Dolmar to a stall selling pots. Wait. Hot pots? This was the place!
"Dolly look! Look, look! Firelizard eggs!" He beamed, studying each pot. "I wonder what color is in each of them!" He paused, glancing towards the man running the stall. His eyes widened and he took hold of his twin's arm, giving it a slight shake. "Dolly, that's the Weyrleader!" What was the Weyrleader doing, selling firelizard eggs? The boy had heard they were common in Ista, but... How many marks would he be expected to pay, to purchase eggs the Weyrleader approved of?
He took a handful of marks from his pouch and moved to offer them. "Won't take more than a mark," R'yn said, flashing the twins a grin. He was dressed in his gather best, his gold firelizard, Zara, perched on his shoulder. "I need to get rid of these. See, she--" he gestured to the gold, "Clutched earlier this sevenday." He plucked a mark from Marinel's hand. "Pick one!"
(You heard right! Everyone who has posted more than twice all Gather is able to purchase a firelizard, colored by Shinos! These will be random! Hope you're enjoying the Gather so far!)
Becka beamed at T'nus "oh thank you, you really didn't have to but thanks!" she said, not about to pass up the extra bubbly pie now that the baker/rider confirmed she could keep it. She quickly broke off a piece and blew on it until it was cool enough before holding her hand out towards the theiving blue, the brown catching her eye but she didn't offer him any, he seemed to belong to T'nus so he would probably get some later. She just didn't want the blue to go stealing again. "here you go boy, i promised didn't i" she said, offering the bit of bubbly pie while a commotion was going on off to one side and behind her.
She turned her head and saw the Weyrleader.. wait... THE? Weyrleader, and a stall pots on. Her eyes grew wide but there were already several people clamouring at the stall, she sighed ever so slightly and turned her head away from the stall, not like there would be any a Healer Apprentice could afford IF there were any left.
Boreas continued to watch the blue like a hawk, and at first it seemed like he might try to stop it from receiving its reward. But, finally, the brown turned its back with a snort that seemed to say 'well, alright then..'
"Its nothing." he said, just pleased that it made her so happy. Hearing her sigh, T'nus lifted his head and followed her gaze, to... R'yn? Well, aparently he wasn't the only one picking up another profession for the night. So Ryn was selling firekizard eggs, huh? Zara must've had a clutch. He looked at Becka and smiled, "Go have a look," he encouraged her. "I bet R'y- I bet the Weyrleader will give you a good price."
***
Navi handed Jnes the marks whether he agreed to the price or not. Either way, one toy or two, it was up to Anri now. Navi had already exhausted all of his bartering energy for the night. He took the girl's hand and might've been willing to follow them around quietly for the rest of the gather, but by now a commotion had cauht his attention. And there at the center of the crowd was someone he recognized.
"Rin?" he muttered to himself, curiously. Then, more certain, he tugged on Anri's sleeve. "Look, look! Rin's selling flitty eggs. We have to go see!". Rin was his daddy's friend from work, so he had to give Navi a good price. Just in case Anri didn't take him over there, Navi pulled his hand free as he shouted over to him, "Rin!! Rin!!" he yelled until he caught Ryn's attention, and then waved furiously.
