He sighed, then nodded, "All right. At the rate this snow is coming down I doubt I'd make it all the way back home, so this will have to do..."
He stepped off the path, leaning on Seb as he limped his way toward the shelter. It hadn't looked impressive he'd been making his way to the field, and now that he needed shelter it seemed even less worthy.
"Okay... and thanks. I'm sure I could have made it on my own, but not this fast..."

"No problem. Glad to help." The snow really was coming down. Seb couldn't remember the last time he'd seen it fall this fast. They reached the shelter and even he could tell it wasn't a great choice, but it was better than nothing, right?
"Okay..." he said, studying it carefully. "I'll hold it up while you squeeze inside?"

Chane thanked him again, then lowered himself to crawl under the log. The entrance was a tight fit, but once inside the he was surprised to find out that he had more than enough room to turn, just so long as he didn't try to get up. The fallen debris had provided a surprisingly spacious shelter.
He struggled to turn, the space didn't make up for his lame leg, and poked his head back out.
"I understand if you want to go find your sister, but it's getting worse out here, and I think there's enough room for both of us, if you can make it through the opening..."

Seb waited patiently for Chane to slip under the log and get settled in the makeshift shelter, looking over his shoulder back at the field they had come from. It was completely buried in snow by now.
The wind picked up and began to howl around them, whipping Seb's mane into his eyes as he peered out into the storm. Worry bubbled up in him for Lily. He knew she was wise enough to find her own shelter and that she would be okay, but he berated himself anyway for leaving her side. She would be worried sick about him.
Chane poked his head back out and Seb turned back to look at him. "Oh?" he replied, shouting to be heard over the wind. "You think I can fit?"

He pushed himself as far to one side of the shelter as he could manage, then looked at the vacant portion again. The frozen dead wood and mulch at the side of the shelter nipped at his flesh, but it would warm in time.
"It will be tight but, I'm sure it would fit two!" hopefully the big lug would be able to avoid kicking him as he squirmed his way in. Uncomfortable lodgings he knew he could handle for a few hours. Broken ribs he wasn't so sure he would be able to endure.

Seb chewed on his lip, quickly debating himself. He was scared for his sister and wanted to make certain she was okay, but it would do neither of them any good if he got lost or froze to death looking for her. As soon as the storm died down, he would go then.
"Alright," he said. "Move over!" Ducking under the fallen tree trunk, he did his best to squeeze in beside Chane. It was certainly a tight fit, and righting himself so he was facing the same way as the other stallion was definitely a challenge, but somehow he managed it, with minimal damage to either of them or the shelter.
"There!" he grinned at the dapple grey. "That wasn't so bad! It's kind of cozy in here!"

In the end the stallion had kicked him, but it hadn't been so hard that Chane had been compelled to cry out, nor did the larger equine seem to realize that his hoof had made contact with Chane at all. He wouldn't mention it. There was no point in making the stranger fret over a minor mistake.
"Comfortable?" Chane asked, trying to separate himself from the cold wall just a bit. It had the additional affect of pushing him into Seb, but just right then he was sure the overly familiar contact would just be chalked up to the close quarters.

"Yeah, it's not so bad in here," Seb responded, glancing around their makeshift home. It certainly wasn't the idea shelter, but it kept them out of the wind and the snow, and he also certainly didn't mind the way it kept Chane pressed up against his side.
He smiled to himself and ducked his head a bit to peer out the opening. "Hopefully it won't last too long. Are you alright? Do you have enough room?"

He turned his head, but misjudged the distance a bit and wound up accidentals nuzzling Seb's neck. As soon as he realized he pulled back.
"I'm fine. A little squished but it's better than being out in that snow," he gestured to the small opening. He lowered his head to rest it on a pile of leafs. "I trust you're alright..."

Now that, Seb really didn't mind. His smile widened, but he had grace enough not to point it out. He didn't know how Chane would react, and he didn't want to upset him in such small quarters. Perhaps if such "accidents" continued though...
He scooted over a smidge, hardly any really. Just enough to give the pretense that he was trying to give Chane more room. In reality though he didn't want to open the distance between them. He liked having the handsome stallion pressed against his side.
"Yup, I'm a-okay," he confirmed, looking down at Chane's hair. There were a few twigs in it from squeezing into the shelter. "Hold still a minute," he muttered, dipping his head to carefully pull the sticks out with his teeth, spitting one onto the floor before going back for another.

Chane tensed up a bit at the contact. Baffled at why Seb was pulling twigs from his hair. The larger stallion was being gentle at least, far more gentle than he would have expected someone with such large teeth to be capable of. It... and this was what caused Chane to tense up... It felt rather nice to have someone fuss over him like this.
He didn't comment though, simply staying still as he'd been requested to do.

Seb carefully groomed Chane's hair, as gentle as he could be. When a twig snagged, he worked solemnly to carefully extract it without tugging on the other's mane. When he was done, he scrutinized his work for a moment, before leaning in one more time to nudge and fix a misplaced lock of hair and then smiling.
"There. Much better."

Seb tilted his head back, eyes wide, his expression clearly saying that he thought it should be obvious why.
"Your mane was messed up. I thought you would appreciate it if I fixed it. No one wants twigs in their hair." He paused a moment and added hastily, "I can put them back if you prefer...?"
