Lt. Brookman merydell Lt. Brookman merydell 'sigh' i think i nedd to play proof my chapter ideas more then i guess sweatdrop I'd just get a codex and read it first, have some fun with the options it presents to you. You can make lists with what you want, it will just take quite a bit of good old trial and error to get it right. true, think i'll go with the vanilla marine codex..got 2 tactical and a termy squad so far so i'll work from there 3nodding It's a good solid base to start with, all you need to do is toss in a HQ unit and you're good to go on smaller games from around 500 - 750 pts. thinking about terminator librarian for an HQ..and perhaps scout or vehicle back-up ninja

Lt. Brookman merydell dark angel command squad looks nice and stuff..but i've heard they're not that good an army ninja Dark Angels work best when using the Ravenwing list, the rest can be done much better with the vanilla codex in all honesty. That was true with the older book, the current one made them a little better with the addition of Stubborn-rule for everyone and Fearless to few units, as well some nicenew wargears like the porta-rack; I´m using your teleporters to deep-strike my terminators safely into your lines, problem? biggrin As well some new vehicles to boot. But there are few older problems at present, like teleport-homers ONLY reserved for bikers. <.?Lt. Brookman Dark Angels allows for the Company Master, Interrogator-Chaplain and Librarian to purchase terminator armour. Company Master does not have access for terminator armours, that is only reserved for Belial who is the Deathwings´ Company Master.Lt. Brookman Can't say about Blood Angels, totes not my army, but I think more or less the same really. Quite same, Captains, Librarian, Chaplains and Sanquinry Priests can have teminator armours.merydell also an option yes..damn..seems my idea to create my chapter the way i like them by looks isn't very practical xp Terminator based army? Deathwings. :3
But yeah, terminators will eat a lot of points, as well with the additions to transporters and support units.merydell isn't ravenwing the bike squad...i'm not really into bikes sweatdrop Bike, Attack Bike and Land-Speeder army to be more precise. They are Fast Attack choice to regular Dark Angels armylist or, if you choose Sammael as you warlord, you can have them as Troops choices instead. And a single choice (Fast/Troops) can have up to 6 bikes, 1 attack bike AND 1 land speeder between 216-341ps total. 3nodding Just to point out the difference with RW and Vanilla-bikers. sweatdrop merydell ultra succesor chapter and choose calgar.... They changed this, you can only take Galgar if your army is Ultramarines. At least that´s how I understand it. <.<
Pg.77 "Chapter Tactics" Certain Units and special characters have specific CT and can only be taken in detachment of the specified Chapter

The biggest problem with Terminators is that they are expensive and quite a point sink for a unit that is awfully limited in what it can do. While it does give you a model that will not die easily, it is very limited in what it can do in retaliation: A storm bolter and power fist do sound nice on paper, especially now that power weapons have an AP value of their own, it's just two shots per turn and if you are lucky and get the charge in, two power fist attacks, but you will hit last, which can be problematic. The unit really needs to be at the right place and the right time to deliver their attacks and hopefully earn back those points.
In the games against my regular opponent the hubby he has in almost every game to date opted to deep-strike his squad next to the best target of opportunity, as having them trudge across the board would be a waste of time and points.
Don't let this deter you from getting your dream unit though! The meta might be strong with the hobby, but that shouldn't keep you from fielding the units YOU like. wink

Lt. Brookman Sorry my bad, kinda forgot that Belial is the boss of them geezers. sweatdrop It´s ok. :3
In the previous book he was kinda "meh", they could have just given us the regular company master with terminator-armour+deathwing-upgrade instead.
In the current one they gave him some decent special rules to justify his existence in the codex. :3

Terminators are slow and cannot chase things that they break in combat, plus their melee capabilities make them very limited at what the should or could tackle.

merydell what works better for terminators btw, melee or long range.. since i'm kinda leaning towards making mine a melee squad with a chaplain. It depends on what you intend to use them for, technicality sake terminators are not long-range combatants, but more of mid-range with the lack of long-range weapons, other then the missile-rack you can get.
Shooty-termies are best at deep-striking, the storm-bolter can take units by suprise and with the addition of assault-cannon for extra firepower, enemy will run. :3
Melee-termies, depending on the load-out and role, can be quite useful. I have a unit of TH+SH termies and they kick ***. biggrin They took down a Trygon Prime like it was a mere bug. :p Or maybe I just lucky, who knows.... <.<" TH+SH load-out makes them useful againts vehicle and large target and Lightningclaws are good taking down elite-units like opposite terminator squad.
you can easily take a unit of assault terminator and put them on a land raider for 450ps, mind you, your opponent WILL want to take them down fast.Vikki Stardust Belial does have a magical sword now. ninja With Fleshbane in it. >:3 Wish the model would look better. D:
