“Of course.” She was almost surprised he sounded as relieved as he did. She’d meant what she said when saying she was in this to help him. “Okay, a quick snack sounds like a good plan.” That might have been a little sooner than she would have liked, but he seemed eager and she knew he wanted to focus on getting Chester back. Not to mention, they had made it through that last titan rather quickly and fairly unscathed. So why not? Another quick one wouldn’t hurt anything, slightly stiff muscles or not.

Though if he insisted on doing things like impromptu shoulder rubs, she’d have to insist on longer breaks just so he could do more of that. Why did it take her so long to get a boyfriend again? Shoulder rubs were awesome. “You don’t have to make it up to me, I’m happy to help,” she said, relaxing under his hands. “Though… I certainly won’t say no to little perks like this.” She rolled her shoulders to emphasize what this was.

At his offer of going somewhere nice, she almost froze. “You…you don’t have to…Is that a promise?” She reasoned they wouldn’t be able to find time until he had Chester back. And he was getting Chester back.

So far, she could see no reason for house arrest. She hadn’t yet reached her limit of how many more continuous patrols they did. Heck, she’d probably run herself into the ground trying to help him. Unless he clearly needed rest first. Then she’d make them rest.

“Oh. Okay.” An hour or two sounded exceptionally nice. Time to eat and catch their breath. And they probably had a bit of paperwork to get through. Or more back rubbing. She’d be okay with more of that. She was tempted to ask for more after their snack.

“I know,” she smiled even if he couldn’t see it. That was why she’d asked. If he promised, he’d do it. Which would mean he’d make it through this whole thing just fine. Any plan she’d half-cooked up about a dinner date went out the window. Jake was taking her out someplace nice after this was all done, and the thought alone made her happy.

Either of them falling apart from this was bad, but Sherry doubted they would actually push that far. They knew what limits were…and there was always a chance they’d be back at the infirmary before said limits were hit.

“I’ll look forward to it, then.” Another smiled even if he couldn’t see it. Sherry doubted she’d be better at planning dates than Jake. She hadn’t been on an abundance of them, and they usually included food and handholding. She’d always wanted to do the whole dinner and movie thing, or a show of some kind…or maybe a walk in a park. She wanted to do all that she could, if she could.

She was also secretly hoping she’d get a chance to wear that dress again herself.

“How are you feeling?” Much as she liked the silence, snacks would never happen if she just stood there enjoying the moment. Not that she moved much.

Which was why Sherry was keeping a close eye on Jake. It was also why she ALWAYS had a bandage handy.

Her smile grew in size and warmth when he hugged her like that. “Food. And… I’ll have to think about it.” She knew how he felt about movies. He might not have remembered seeing the Hobbit before he lost his memories, but he sure didn’t remember now. But Sherry did. She’d have to think of something they’d both enjoy. “Your input is important, too, you know, if we are both going to enjoy this.” A date. Their…second?

And then Jake was leading her away, off for snacks and paperwork. “Good, and I think I’d agree with you. It does feel good.” It really did. It also made Armagnac happy, which was always a plus.

“Okay. Food and then more training.” She bit her lip as they walked. “Though I might have to ask for another shoulder rub later, if you don’t mind.”
