Lou was getting cold feet. That's what he was doing, Amphi. Not... That his feet weren't always cold.
The boil shot Hel a look as she spoke the name of his supposed previous identity. "My name is Lou, not Gabriel." A chill crawled up his spine, the memory of Hel preaching about names hitting him at that moment. Perhaps it was much more important than the boil had previously considered...
"I don't think we should split up yet." The vampire told Amphi. "At least not until we get some information from the town hall as tittius maximus suggested."
No turning back now... This would surely seal the boil's fate.

Upon walking into the building, there sat a middle-aged man at the front desk, sorting papers and filing away folders as he was expected to do. When he heard the door open, his head turned curiously. "What can I help you w-Oh..." The surprisingly chipper tone took a downturn once he noticed whom, or rather what, he had the 'pleasure' of speaking to. His gaze seemed stuck inbetween the undead and the monster.
"What do you want?" His tone was short, brows furrowed like angry caterpillars on his forehead.

Well, Amphi, you may have forgotten, but Hel didn’t. In fact, the reaper looked a bit annoyed when the mermaid grabbed her hand and started to swing it but… She didn’t pull it away or try to stop her, either, so that was pretty good for now. Hel also didn’t miss how snappy Lou got about names, and her lips curled up into a feral, completely know it all slash I told you so smirk. Upon entering the Town Hall, that welcoming seemed pretty promising—Oh. Well…since the clerk was stuck between the undead and the monster, Hel took this as a sign that she would be the most preferably party to speak to… Jack help them. Hel let go of Amphi’s hand and snapped her fingers to get the clerk’s attention. “Ya.” She started. “You see ah…” She paused. “…I was at school and I found out recently that I was adopted…so I wanted to find my real parents and meet my real family…and I heard they were in this town! I do not know their names…ah…but only the name of one…his first name is Gabriel…would you be able to tell me where this Gabriel is located…?” Hel tried her best at a ‘please’ expression. “I think I will be emotionally wrecked for life if I am not allowed this closure of meeting them.”

Amphi was loooooooong past any rational thought process. Awl she could think of was Adventure and who was Gabriel...oh right Lou. But adventureeee.... "OH MY JACK HEL." Amphi squeaked behind the ghoul, "I didn't know you had a brother named Gabriel?!?!?!" If someone didn't put a lid on the mermaid, she was going to unintentionally ruin Hels cover story. The clerk seemed to briefly contemplate Hel's story, tapping his chin quietly as he examined her, then glanced back to her 'company'. "I-" He started, before the monster interrupted him.
When Amphi chimed in, Lou had reached over to cover her mouth too little too late. Lou didn't usually encourage lying, but such a situation seemed to call for it. However, the red that spread over the employee's face after Amphi's little 'slip' seemed to hammer the nail in their metaphorical coffin.
"OUT. I am NOT aiding both a liar and an interloper!" One hand pointed to the door while the other picked up the skelephone. He couldn't be absolutely certain that the ghoul was lying, but in this town, they were guilty until proven innocent. "I'll be calling authorities if you're not out in five seconds."
"Pretty sure this is a losing battle, ghouls. Time to bolt." Lou spoke bluntly and headed for the door. It wasn't something he cared to pursue anyways.

Once outside, the boil let out a loud sigh of relief. Maybe that would be the end of the line. He sure as s**t wasn't about to knock on every racist a*****e's door.
Just as he was about to turn and suggest a return trip home, Lou noticed something out of the corner of his eye. Something that chilled him to the bone.
A small ghoul exited one of the stores. He hadn't paid attention as to which store she left from, mostly because from the time he saw her, his gaze was stuck. Long, white hair, with a black halo-like shape around the top of her skull. Polkadots. Polkadots everywhere, and not a single sign of color.
In his gut he knew that up close, there would probably be more similarities, but he had no plans on running up to her. Oh no. The vampire would follow her from a distance. There was too high of a chance in spooking her with the town being what it was.

Well, Amphi…any tentative feeling Hel was getting back about being happy with you, crashed and burned after that. The reaper almost went over the desk after the clerk, to wildly proclaim she wasn’t afraid of any back water boonie authorities and to get her damn information, but on the other hand… She imagined Gramps clucking his tongue in disapproval at her, and it was enough to deter her. So she followed the others out, but not before flipping the clerk the two birds on her way out. Once outside though… Hel just deathly glared at Amphi. “ You know how you got MVP?” She hissed. “ Pure dumb ******** luck.” The ghoul scowled. “ I have seen crayons brighter than you.” Luckily, she was spared further from grilling the mermaid when Lou seemed to…spot something… The reaper huffed, and trailed after him, not sure what exactly he was trailing after yet. Sexy Cocaine I'm leaving on the 31st, so you guys just keep going on without me, okay? I'll try to make posts here and there, but don't wait on me : )

"You know, You're being really rude for us being on a mission for Lou." Amphi said, not caring in general that she was being insulted.
Obviously Hel was just JEALOUS that Amphi was so CARING AND LOVING.
The mermaid slowly wandered after them, and gasping a little.
There was a ghoul that looked just like Lou and for Once Amphi trailed after Lou quietly, looking at the Ghoul very carefully.
She was well acquainted with sisters and to be honest...There was no way that the ghoul wasn't...

Lou was secretly appreciative that he didn't have to tell the ghouls to momentarily quiet down. It must have been obvious they were circling a particularly rare and valuable lead. Well, perhaps not that rare considering the low population, but still.
Silently, they trailed behind the unsuspecting ghoul, who turned around not once. Must have been a relatively safe community. She turned down a couple of streets, surprisingly waving to nobody she passed. Her neighbors fixated on her temporarily, like she might have been some strange spectacle. Lou wondered what happened.
It wasn't until the mysterious ghoul began walking up stairs and removing keys from her pocket that the vampire made himself known. "Hey!" He shouted, only then observing the dwelling she apparently resided in. Small, cozy. Nothing really out of the ordinary besides the fact that it was comprised of only grays. "You! Polka-dot ghoul!" He rushed to close the gap between them, gesturing for Hel and Amphi to pick up the pace before doors could be slammed and locked.

Luckily enough, they were the only people out and about within a safe radius of prying eyes. The ghoul's head snapped around just as she was about to slide the key into the lock. As soon as she could comprehend what her eyes related to her brain, the keyring was promptly dropped like a hot potato.
Upon closer inspection, her eyes were almost identical to his... Only reversed somehow, and considerably more shocked. She looked the vampire over as if he was a strange visitor from the uncanny valley; familiar, yet incredibly obscure. As soon as Lou was in close proximity, tears filled her eyes, and she began to weep.
Then, without warning, her hand reached up and smacked him across his face. "You're a liar, Gabe!"
A very unsettling statement to someone who swore upon honesty.

“And you are being really stupid for a mission that requires at least an ounce of cunning.” Hel hissed back to Amphi, and fell silent after that. After realizing what…or who, they were following, Hel’s interest perked back up. Okay…there was no mistaking the similarity between this ghoul and Lou now, and as tempting as it was to ask something, she knew she wouldn’t get an answer at the moment… So she kept up, and kept quiet, following along. As Lou sped up and spoke up to the ghoul though, she followed his lead and sped up after him, coming a stop nearby on a few steps below them. The reaper blinked as the ghoul spoke…and then promptly slapped Lou. Well…alright then. They were definitely getting somewhere. “You know him?” She asked, rather hopefully.

"Sister?" Amphi nudged Hel, "We'd know about sisters...."

Lou's eyes widened as he reached up to touch the place she had struck. There was now a sobbing, angry ghoul in front of him, and he had not the vaguest idea of what could possibly be wrong. Sure, he could see his past self being the kind of a*****e he is today... But a liar?
"L-look." Lou tried to find some kind of words that would help this situation. Unfortunately, he wasn't the most helpful soul. "I'm not Gabe, or Gabriel, or who the hell ever. My name is Lou. I just came here for answers."

Drawing her hand back to herself, the ghoul seemed to realize something startling. "Y-you're cold..." Her eyes were like endless waterfalls of tears.
Something about his words, however, made sense. Though he hadn't been delicate with them in the least. You could almost see her heart sink to the bottom of her ribcage. Something about her stare said that she knew, or at least had an idea of what was going on, and it was at that moment she finally noticed his company.
The reaper child looked back and forth between Hel and Amphi. "Y-yes. I mean no... I mean, kind of." The situation now was quite complicated, though Amphi seemed to hit the nail on the head. "He... I mean Gabe... Was my big brother. My name is Angelique." Her eyes glanced downward as she turned around. "You should come in. People will start to to wonder if they see you out here." She carefully plucked the keys off the ground and finally unlocked the door, opening it and gesturing for her guests to cross the threshold.

Amphi nudged Hel, and Hel nudge Amphi back, a bit harder than necessary, and turned back to look at the ghoul. Hrm. This was a train wreck…and also apparently Lou’s….sister? Hrm. Trying to put the two together was hard…because it was really hard to honestly imagine Lou apart of something like a legitimate family…but everyone came from somewhere, right? “Good answer, Lou.” Hel replied. “But I was gonna say you better not p***y out now.” She planted a hand on the vampire’s back, and shoved him through the door first, and followed after him, a bit wary as she stepped into the house.

Amphi followed in, slapping her hand in her palm.
"Sister." She nodded sagely, Aww and the poor ghoul was crying. "Wait wait..." Amphi shoved past Hel and Lou, going to the ghoul. There was a brief moment of hesitation before she took the ghoul's hands.
"I'm sorry." Was the first thing she offered, since Lou didn't seem to want to, "We didn't mean to upset you, but like Lou said, we're trying to find out...how he originated." She looked over to Hel.
"This is Hel! And I'm Amphi. I hope you don't mind me being a monster or anything, the old man before kind of did and..." okay now she was blabbering.

Lou supposed he was supposed to feel something as he watched the ghoul who was Gabriel's sister cry. He didn't. No more than he would seeing any stranger weep out of nowhere. That thought cauterized him. It kept him going, even through Hel's taunts. Whoever this boil was, it certainly wasn't him.
The boil stumbled only slightly after the valkyrie's shove, his lips forming a thin line as he looked back at her, only to be pushed aside by Amphi as well. It was a good thing at least one of them was empathetic in this situation.
Finally looking forward again, Lou focused on something that made him tense up immediately.
There was a family photo.
A man in all black, a woman in all white, and two mixed children. One in polka-dots... The other in stripes.
Only, this boil's stripes were horizontal... And his hair. His hair was slicked back like he used a tub of hair gel... Or was it just that greasy? Zits covered his face like someone had tattooed a game of connect the dots to his person, and those glasses. Those godawful glasses. Lou stood in awe as he reached into his pocket, peeling his eyes away from the photo only to look at the wretched, jack-forsaken, broken glasses.

Angelique had been staring at the ground as she let them in, at least until Amphi's hands clasped hers. The small ghoul stared up at her elder in awe, as if it had been the first kind act she could remember in a long time. "No... I don't mind. We didn't always live here." She squeezed the mermaid's hand. "I'm sorry if anyone was mean to you. The town is very tightly knit and suspicious of outsiders because of the city a short distance away." Obviously there had been some unpleasant run-ins. "I don't like the fact that there's no diversity, but papa thought it would be a good business decision because this town didn't have a shoemaker."
Her attention then turned to Lou, who had a very familiar pair of glasses. Angelique's grimace returned as she shut the door and walked over to pick up the picture off the table. "This is..." She stopped momentarily. "... Was my big brother Gabriel." She gently touched his two dimensional form as if more force might break him. "He was always so sweet to me, and rarely complained about anything. Mama and Papa put a lot of responsibility on him because he was the oldest, but he still had time to... To make sure I didn't feel left out." It looked like she might start to weep again, but tentatively held it in. "He had a hard time at school because of the way he looked, but he rarely complained about it... And then..."
For a moment, she appeared lost in thought. Silence swept over the house.
"You want to see his room?" She looked to the two ghouls, and finally to Lou. Why the subject change?

Hel trailed in after the vampire and went to go look at the picture as well, staring at it. She was then half listening to Angelique, and then tore her gaze away from the picture to look at the ghoul as she spoke. Hrm. Hel’s brows were knitted, and oddly, she was just quiet and taking in all the information as it was presented. The idea that this boil in the photo was Lou, that this used to be Lou’s past life, was forefront in her mind…but it wasn’t something she wanted to say out loud yet… “And then what?” Hel piped up, staring at Angelique. “Finish the story.”

Amphi squeezed the ghoul's hands encouragingly.
"And then?" Amphi cocked her head, agreeing with Hel. "Can we see his room then?" She followed after, "What happened to Gabriel?"
