"Why does everyone say that?" Icarus whined slightly, expression hurt. "Where's the trust?" Then he paused. "...Oh yeah... it probably went out the window when I tried to set my ex-neighbor's dog on fire. In my defense, though, its owner wouldn't do anything when my parents complained about it attacking me." Shrugging, he started on his chicken nuggets and beef teriyaki.

Katie stared at Icarus. "Yeah that would do it for them but I think mine has something to do with you telling me this." She said honestly. She finished her food and was drinking her water.

Icarus immediately started sulking, mumbling to himself about how it wasn't fair and how everyone took the dog's side even as he drank his soda.

"Well i like dogs but I think I am starting to like you more." She said blushing looking away from him. "besides, a dog wouldn't be going with me to art class right?" She asked as the bell rang for the end of lunch.

Icarus blinked, then grinned; he was obviously rather happy about her little admission, but didn't call her out on it, instead saying, "Well, it depends on whether said dog is really a dog or some form of shapeshifter in disguise." He then struck a dramatic pose. "Now, onward! To Arson - er, Art Class!" With that, he began marching dramatically... in the exact opposite direction of where he was supposed to be going.

Quickly, Katie took Icarus's hand and pulled him the way to art class. She sweatdropped as she did so. "Maybe marching off isn't a good idea when you don't know with the class is?" She said. Soon they were walking in. Katie sat in the middle where she was assigned to be.

"That is a very good point," Icarus mused thoughtfully as he was dragged. Once in the classroom, he sat in his own assigned seat... which, coincidentally enough, was right next to Katie's. "Not that I'm complaining, but isn't it a little strange that we keep ending up next to each other in class?"

Katie blinked and looked around. "Maybe cause they found out about you loving fire and put you with someone that doesn't care about that? I don't know." She said shrugging..

Icarus considered this possibility a moment. "...Nah. In my and my parents' experience, the higher up you go in the system, the more chance there is of stupidity and/or corruption getting into the works, and seeing as I recently moved here, anyone who knows about that bit would have to be fairly high up, at least a superintendent. Besides, I don't just like fire, I'm not that one-dimensional... I like bacon too," the boy answered cheerfully.

"Did you know that there is a convention in Chicago that is all about Bacon? It's called Baconfest. I always wanted to go." Katie said smiling as she started to sketch a living fire. "Have you gone there? You get to sample different bacony foods." She asked. ((It's true. And I really want to go.))

(...If you do, you will take me with you. TAKE ME WITH YOU, I SAY! scream mrgreen ) Icarus paused in his own sketch... which was really just him sketching the entire piece of paper black. "...Excuse me a moment, there's something I have to do over in Chicago." With that, he raised his hand and opened his mouth... "No, Icarus, you may not skip class to head over to Chicago for Baconfest. You'd need plane tickets anyway in order to get there at a decent hour," the teacher informed him calmly, not looking away from the papers he was grading. Icarus blinked, then let his hand slump and sulked as he resumed his sketch. "Dammit..."

Katie giggled before saying, "I'm sure if you plan it right you can go. Besides who needs a plane? All you need is a ticket to go to baconfest and either a car or bike to get there. But maybe you should wait for when it's even around?" She patted his shoulder before starting to out line her sketch with a sharpie pen. Then she looked over her options. "Marker or colored pencils?" She said to herself. Shrugging she picked up the colored pencils and started to give her picture color. (( ))

(...Why do you taunt me so? crying ) Icarus grinned sheepishly before shrugging and returning to his own sketch. After a moment, he turned to Katie and showed her his "sketch"... which was really him coloring the entire paper ash-gray, making the paper look as if someone had burnt it and then magically put the ashes back together. "What do you think? I wasn't allowed to burn it, so I did the next best thing," he explained happily.

((Isn't it beautiful?)) Katie smiled before saying, "It looks great. How about mine?" she asked shyly showing her picture of a fire with reds, blues and purples with little music notes burning in and round the fire. "I like music." she said blushing.
