Quintessa just rolled her eyes with a warm smile. His instincts were more well placed than hers. She would have let Pirimus die, but Wyatt was a different sort. When the water was gone she lowered him back down and propped him before sliding off the bed. She twitched her clawed paws on the hardwood floor, contemplating a few things. Why was he asking about Franklin? Where was that dodgy old taur? "I'm going downstairs." Quintessa moved for her spear, and slipped down the stairs.

Pirimus stepped to the side to allow Quintessa to pass. He smoothed down the ruffle bits of his front fur, trying his best to look professional and orderly. Order is what kept him sane. He needed order. Order was work and work was making sure this fox in front of him didn't die of an infected wound.

He moved towards the bed and set down, looking between the two for any signs of aggression, though masking it with a calm, professional smile. "I'm going to roll you on your side, alright?" No sudden movements, nothing to spook him. He looked at Gabriel. "Would you mind helping me?"

Gabriel looked over to his wife and frowned slightly. Franklin's absence wasn't anything to worry about, was it? He turned to follow her down the stairs, but paused when the request of his help came. Nodding, he turned back to the bed and dropped to help shift Wyatt onto his good side. "So, can we tell mom that some crazed naga attacked you for no reason at all?"

Wyatt watched the approaching feline carefully. He'd known this guy wasn't a killer. Still, he wasn't used to being in such a weakened state either. "That's pretty much what happened," he grumbled, hissing sharply as he was turned and his shoulder shifted around. "Wouldn't be a stretch.. to say it was for no.. reason." He paused for a breath a few times, and then turned his eyes to his wrapped shoulder.

Gabriel sat close, keeping a supportive hand on Wyatt's waist. "So, Pirimus. Did you ever see that guy before? Seen him around the shop or anything?"

Pirimus brushed his hair over his shoulder and did up a messy braid before tossing it behind him. Hopefully the golden strands wouldn't get in his way, but knowing his luck they would touch the wound and infect it instantly. "I would honestly rather you told her the truth," Even as he spoke Pirimus was working to gently remove the wrap. It was bloodied in spots, and try as he might it was harder to removed the dried areas. Once clear he reached for the clean water pitcher and a fresh cloth. He dampened it, then moved in to inspect the wound. "Gory details aside, it was my fault that you were injured, and for that I am sorry." Pirimus meticulously cleaned the open wound and tried to send as much magic as he could without depleting himself again. He not only worked to numb the area, but to stitch together frayed tissue as well.

"I can't say that I have seen him, though to be honest, it was dark and everything was a blur. I see so many nagas on a daily basis that it is possible..." His eyebrows burrowed. Would he have known the naga if he had seen him? Pirimus leaned back, took a breather and stood up, "I'm sorry that I can't do more now. I fear you'll have to take it slow for a while." He smiled softly. "I'm going to go see about some fresh bandages." Pirimus padded towards a shelf near the wall, the light from outside fanning in around him and it was then that he heard shouting. A lot of shouting, like a mob. "What..?" Leaning in, he pulled back the curtain in time to see a rather large grouping of naga dragging an old taur around a corner....Pirimus' face went as white as his fur.

Franklin.

At around that moment a door slammed downstairs and hurried footfalls bounded up the stairs. Quintessa heaved frantically, brushing falling pieces of hair from her face as she held her spear which was already coated in fresh blood. "They've taken Franklin. They've taken everyone, and they're on their way here!"

Aside from a few sharp hisses, Wyatt managed to grit his teeth in silence as the bandages were peeled away. He noticed scabbing clinging to the fabric, causing a few wounds to open back up, but Pirimus seemed to be on top of those, and he watched in awe as the torn flesh grew back together in front of his eyes. Those same eyes widened and looked up at the feline. "You didn't.. make him attack. It was.. his choice to do." He panted softly and laid his head back down. He still felt exhausted.

Gabriel patted his brother's arm. "Don't worry about it, dude. That guy is rotting away in the woods now. Don't have to worry about what he wanted anymore." He'd no sooner spoken than heard the door slam and the paws flying up the steps. "Wait! Who's they?!" he asked as he jumped up and went over to the window. "Oh.... s**t. What happened out there, Tess?"

Wyatt tried to crane his neck around to look back at the two felines. Franklin? That was the shop owner, right? His brow furrowed, and he shifted onto his belly to sit upright despite the resulting dizzy spell. "His pals," he seethed, shaking his head to clear it. A group attacking here and now? Who else could it be? He looked at his shoulder and clenched his jaw. It was still raw and scarred, but there was no time to do anything more with it. "We.. we need to go," he said with a soft pant as he tried to push himself standing, with varying results.

If only Gabriel was right. Pirimus looked out through the curtains with an impeding sense of dread. He could see now that several shop doors had been charged trough and it wasn't just the red stone giving the streets their crimson color.

"Nagas are everywhere. There are a couple armless jerks leading them and their calling out for Pirimus and the ones who spilled 'the blood of the fallen', which I'm guess is that guy we didn't bury last night." She ran a hand through her head and looked to Wyatt. He didn't look much better now than when she had left, but at least he was conscious. Tessa moved hurriedly to his side, trying to support him as best she could while never letting go of her weapon. "You're still too wounded to be moving on your own, grumpy butt." She tried to smile, but Quintessa was worried. The assassin was just that; an assassin. While she had been prepped for war time situations she had always been taught to look out for herself, not a group. "He is right, though," she addressed the males in general. "We need to leave. Now."

"I can't just leave!" Pirimus sputtered. He held his arms out as if he couldn't believe what was being said. "Those taur took me in with open arms despite my business dealings, and now they're paying for it! Take him with you and go; I'm staying. If it's me they want then let's just get this whole mess over with." He was going to die sooner or later, and lately he'd been thinking a lot about it. Before he had been innocent, but now...? This was all his fault.

Armless naga?! What had they gotten themselves into?? Wyatt shook his head, trying to keep from leaning too heavily on Quintessa. "Pirimus.. They won't stop with your death. They'll know.. there was more than you." His eyes dropped as he took another deep breath. "My blood.. is there. All our paw prints and.. scents are there." His heart rate was starting to pick up again, making the dizziness worse. They were all in huge trouble. "We.. all.. go."

Gabriel was still gawking out the window. So many were being killed... "This isn't fair! He attacked us first!" he snarled, knowing well enough that fairness was no consideration in a time like this. "Bro's right though. They aren't seeing logic. They'll probably kill everyone else anyway just to make a point. ..And we all left signs behind of us being there. Too busy trying to get you two somewhere safe. The idiot dead in the woods brought this on, not you." He turned and looked at his weakened brother. "Besides; if anyone were to be left behind, it's the big dope who can barely move, and that ain't gonna happen." He walked over and sat in front of Wyatt. "Come on. I'll carry you out just like I got you in." He looked over to Quintessa and nodded. "You make sure magic man comes with us."

Pirimus paled, clenching his fist in his thick fur. "You're right, but I...I can't leave them." It was lower than the first time he'd said it, with more doubt than before. If he stayed it might not stop the rampage, but it might save these taur some time to get somewhere safe.

"Wyatt," Quintessa cooed. "Shh, you need to rest and save your strength. We'll get out of this." She could feel his heart rate rising, and it worried her. They would need a diversion to get through that mess at this rate. "Gabriel." She said in a warning tone. They more worked up they got the sloppier their decisions would be, and Wyatt would only get upset as well.

She reached out and placed a hand on Gabriel's cheek. "We're going to need a diversion to get out of this. I'm the only one who can get in and get out fast enough. All I need to do is get rid of a few of them to draw the heat off." Quintessa turned to Pirimus. "If you feel so damn guilty then come with us. You won't be able to avenge those people when you're hanging from a tree. Help my mate with Wyatt, and get them out of here. You know the way better than we do."

"...He isn't the only one." Quintessa turned with a bolt of lightning towards the stairs, firing off into one of the rafters. Thankfully it went out a hole in the roof before catching the building on fire. She had caused the young naga to squeal and cover her head in her hands, though.

"Who are you?!"

"Wait, wait. Milly? Is that you?" Pirimus couldn't belive his eyes. His young assistant was on the stairs, her hands holding onto her now beaten face. How did she get so many bruises?

"Y-yes, sir, it's me. I-I can help. They paid me to help find you. I'm sorry sir, but my ma-" She took a deep, albeit shaky breath. "I'm not gonna help them, though. You've done too much for us. I can distract them, though, while you all get out."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 23, 2014 4:04 pm

Gabriel's tail whipped about in agitation. This was such a mess! Quintessa's stern tone made him flinch. He didn't know what to do with himself though! He blinked as her hand touched his face, and it helped him to focus a little more. His lip curled into a snarl at her plan, but he couldn't object to it. He didn't exactly have any master plan in mind.

Wyatt glanced over at Quintessa, brow knitting as her face blurred in and out of focus. s**t... He put a hand to his head and climbed onto Gabriel's back as ordered. He wasn't really in a position to object.

Gabriel stood, made sure Wyatt was secure, and shook his head. "Tess.." his ears perked and he spun around to face the new voice, wincing at the groan Wyatt gave from the sudden movement. His attention though was on the small, beaten child. Instantly, his jaw ground angrily. What kind of madmen beat children?! "Wait... you want to be the distraction?!" His jaw slacked open as he looked to Quintessa, and then Pirimus. They wouldn't agree to this! "Hey, kid, why don't you just show us the way out? No need for you to go out to them again."

Milly twiddled her fingers from the stair way. Her hair fell back across the bruises on her face which made Pirimus only ache to smooth them away. She had always been such a kind hearted girl, who worked harder than she should as an assistant. He helped to watch over her since her mother had been recently widowed with four young ones to watch over in an area not exactly naga friendly. They were the sweetest family he had met to date and it tore through him that she was so terrified.

She turned to look at the group as a whole and nodded. "They hurt me but they let mama go. I don't think they want to hurt us, they just don't want us living with leggers."

Quintessa took a deep breath and exhaled harshly. As a mother herself to three little big eyed babes she didn't want to rely on the strength of a young one to get her out of this, but they had little choice. "Pirimus, get the girl. You can carry her while she shows us the way." It would give the cat something to focus on besides the blood outside, and comfort them both at the same time.

Nodding, he stepped forward to take his young assistant in his arms. What bits of her he couldn't hold was wrapped around his waist and furred torso. "Are we ready to go?"

Wyatt glanced over at the new arrival, as much as he could focus on her, and felt his guts pinch. To be beating children... His vision was giving him a headache, and he dropped his head to Gabriel's shoulder with a sigh. He was still too worn out to really think too much on what was happening. It was difficult enough just holding onto his brother without falling off.

Gabriel shook his head with relief. No way that little girl would be sent back out on her own. And now Tess wouldn't have to be in such risk either. Looking over to his mate, he reached out and grabbed her hand. "I'm ready. Let's go." He turned to look back at Pirimus and Milly. "Lead the way."

With Gabriel assisting Wyatt and Pirimus now holding the naga child it fell to Quintessa to be on offense. She wished there was a team of centaur with a wagon waiting outside to rush them away, but wish all she might there would be no help.

She leaned in to give her mate a warm peck to the cheek and squeezed his hand before letting go. "Pirimus and Milly, you go first. Then Gabriel and Wyatt will go if it's safe, and I'll follow. If you see any kind of trouble stop immediately and take cover."

Pirimus nodded his head. He moved his hands so that one forearm was supporting Milly and the other cradled her head before kissing the child on the forehead. She needed him to be strong, so he had to try. As quietly as he could, the white cattaur descended the stairway and reached for the back door handle. It opened with a long screech that sent a chill up his spine, but Milly just patted his shoulder. There was too much chaos outside for one door to be noticed.

"Which way?" He whispered.

"Left. Go up the hunting trail. All the big roads are blocked."

Pirimus turned to the others with a pinched look. "We can't go that way, Milly, it's too steep. And the trees aren't very thick this time of year."

Looking to Tess, Gabriel gave her a firm nod. They could do this...

He jumped when the door screeched, needing a deep breath to calm down. He could hear the chaos outside clearer now. They'd turned that creep into a blasted martyr for those psychos! A step behind Pirimus, he frowned when the nervous look came his way. "Then what other way is there? We can't go back the way we came, and she says the main roads are blocked." He glanced at his exhausted brother and bit his lip. "How.. how steep are we talking? If one of us did slip, would it be a long way to the bottom?"

Gabriel wasn't much comfort to the nervous cat, but Pirimus knew he spoke the truth. Swallowing his thick tongue was another matter, though. Suddenly he had cotton mouth, and couldn't figure out a way around it. Think, think, think.

"If you don't look down it isn't steep at all." Milly pointed out calmly, before ducking her head sheepishly. "But if you slipped...well, it'd make a lot of noise and you'd break something. B-but! But if we take it, the other naga won't be able to climb up the side and they won't know where the path starts because of the rocks."

They would at least have that on their side. Tessa wasn't happy about their chances, but she gripped her spear with firm resolution. "We can't just stand around debating all night. We move. If they catch us I can buy you all some time." She waved Pirimus on.

Taking the que, Pirimus began his cautious trek to the hunting trail. It wasn't difficult to find under Milly's direction, but if he had been looking for it himself he would have surely missed the subtle signs. There was barely a snapped twitch to follow, nor was there a worn path to be seen. He stepped past the dry brush carefully, edging his way up the steep path.

Gabriel chewed his lip as he looked up the incline. He figured he could do it alone fine, but with Wyatt half-conscious on his back? Quickly looking around the main floor, he was lucky enough to spot a sweater hanging over the chair. He grabbed it up and swung it around his and Wyatt's waists, just barely able to tie the ends of the sleeves together. It wasn't much, but he didn't have time to hunt for rope or anything, and he wasn't going to leave his brother there. "Hang on tight, Wyatt. Come on."

Wyatt blinked vaguely at the feline and little naga in front of them. It sounded like a dangerous hike, and here he was, weighing his brother down. But the tie went around him, and he smiled sadly. While he was glad to be taken along... he felt like such a burden. "If I fall... you're coming.. too," he warned, tightening his arms and legs as they got outside. "If.. that happens.. just leave me.. an' get away."

Gabriel held onto Wyatt's wrists and snorted. "Do I have to tell you to shut up again?" he asked as playfully as he could. The mood was dark enough... "I need to concentrate here." Truly, he was giving a lot of attention to where Pirimus was walking, terrified of slipping and putting his brother or wife in even more danger than they were already in.

Quintessa snorted as well. It wasn't as if she had meant to make the noise, but at least it wasn't so loud it would attract attention. "Wyatt, just stuff it already. No one is going to leave you to die." He annoyed the piss out of her sometimes, that much was true, but he was her brother as much as he was Gabriel's. "...let me know when you get tired baby, and I'll carry him." She may not have been as big as her husband, but Tessa had the muscle for it.

The way ahead was full of crags that reached out to pull on Pirimus. At first he had tried to point them out purposefully, but the further he climbed the more it became accidental misfortune. Every pothole, briar patch, and root seemed out to get him. "Stop." He turned over his shoulder to whisper the command, and pointed ahead of him.

This was truly the most taxing spot of the climb. It was the steepest to be sure, but what worried him was the complete lack of tree cover. They would be in full view of the town below for a short while. If they were lucky they could escape unnoticed, but if they were not...

Pirimus only hoped there were no archers among the naga.

"Go on," Milly urged, this time a little more nervous than before. Without what little foliage there was to be found acting as a sound barrier she could hear the screaming.

Tessa moved up to his side, and pressed herself against the bark of a thick tree. In her hands a bolt of lightning grew, steady and dark, even as she nodded her to him. If worse came to worse she would strike. Pirimus gulped, said his prayers to the sky, and started his climb.
