On the other end of the spectrum was Olivia, who for the most part thought this was all terribly exciting. Getting to compete against the other dorms and hopefully have fun doing it. The wight was, as usual, pretty chipper about things, the gym clothes were a little less to be desired but she had a pair of tights underneath and a long sleeved shirt to help her out (something she had changed into, no way was she ruining another dress). Even if she could see a rather worrysome part of the course up ahead. But, she'd be alright, right?
At the sound of the gun, the young ghoul took off with the rest of them but all her hopes that the flames wouldn't get to her, as she noticed them getting closer with each of the turns, proved too overwhelming. Hadn't she been getting better about fire? Apparently not, and with one false step, she was off the course and had to make her way back up. Her eyes were closed as she made the slow climb, hoping to bypass that wretched element and get back into the game.
The next part didn't seem so terribly bad, a slippery wall that wasn't too terrible to climb up after she got the hang of it. The hurdles didn't hurt too badly when she kind of missed the mark. But she found herself thrown into the balls and then bounced off one by a passing student. Olivia let out a little cry, but didn't say much else and kept going to the next portion with Steve. Thankfully, the same happenstance that had befallen her in the last section happened after jumping over the pit but maybe.. it wasn't so lucky as she found herself way too close to one of the bombs. Which were on fire. And the wight dropped to the ground in an instant after she recovered from the staggering steps she had to take after being pushed once again. Scary, scary scary.
Somehow she made her way through. The water shouldn't have been too bad, even if she couldn't really swim. But maybe it was those balls of fire that sent her off the course and having to make the climb back up again. Olivia was a little too frazzled to think about it, and just made her way up to continue and finish. Which she did, with a little slip ups on the oil (like ice would really detour her).
By the end, she was shaking a little. Too much fire. Way too much fire. And oddly, she wanted to go find Andrew. Or maybe Molan would be better in this case. Or Amarus. Or Mia. Or Efflo. Or Willow. A friend, she wanted to go find a friend.Quote: Student Name: Olivia Points Total: 18 section one: 0 + 2 = 2 section two: 4 section three: 4 section four: 0 : 2 = 2 section five: 6 Did you remember to use your Speed Stat: Yup Did you use your Luck Stat: Nope

Amarus had done a course before, one that seemed deadly. She probably let it make her too self-assured, however; she'd run Thunder Road on her first attempt, but this would prove to be very little like Thunder Road had been. On her first obstacle, running down the steep slope, she let herself go at full speed and as a result the wall of fire startled her. She fell off the course, and had to climb all the way back up.
It was still pretty early in the event, so she had the energy and speed to race her way back up, getting close to where she'd been before. The second obstacle was extremely easy for her, for some reason; she wasn't bothered by the climb. Probably because she spent a lot of her personal time climbing over and into things where she really wasn't supposed to be. In any case, she moved so quickly she very potentially knocked a lot of students out of the way-- she wasn't really sure, because everything seemed like a blur. She was eager to catch up.
The next obstacle, a spike pit, she started going through fairly well. The friendly bombs were equally no problem. However, she had started to lag behind, and did not realize the pillars would crumble under her: Amarus leaped from one pillar to the next, but missed one of the leaps, and plunged down off the course again. She had to climb her way back up, and though she was faster than she might have been, she wasn't nearly as enthusiastic as she had been with the first obstacle.
Nearly done, she dove into the underwater portion of the event, and it appeared that though she wasn't exactly fond of swimming (or water) she'd managed to propel her way through the waters well enough. At one point a net nearly snared her, but she pretty much just used some of it to push herself around it instead. Good times.
The ice wasn't much of a problem, but when she got to the mud, another student shoved her down underneath the surface and took off. Probably one of the students she'd sabotaged accidentally in her race at the beginning, climbing. It wouldn't have been surprising. However, she had no time to retaliate: the finish line was in view, and she hadn't seen who it was to exact revenge anyway.Quote: Student Name: Amarus Points Total: xx #1: 0 + 6 Speed = 6 Total. xx #2: 10. xx #3: 0 + 1 Speed = 1 Total. xx #4: 8. xx #5: 4. Here it was... it was time. Junko stood at the top of the beginning point and just..stared. She swallowed and backed away for a second. This certainly...yes. This was definitely very high up. Heh. Okay. You can do this, Junko! You've got this! She finally took off down the slope, nearly falling because of her own hair twice before she managed to get over the fire and across the drop. ThankJackthankJackthankJack! The wall was absolutely ridiculous. Junko almost didn't make it to the other side, and the spiked hurdles caught her clothes a little. And the balls? Don't even get Junko started on how difficult they were to get across. She was so eager to get away from the previous part that she practically flew through everything else until.. Swimming. Junko skid to a stop and just stared. No..no, no. Noooo..! She whined and slowly got in the water. Something grabbed her hair and tried to drag her down but only enough to startle her. At one point an underwater mine exploded and sent her sailing to the other end. Like a boss. The next part went completely by accident but Junko would forever say she totally planned it that way. She took one step on the ice and skid across it, trying to catch herself on the nearest student only to shove them all out of her way. The oil slick, as gross as it was, was her next goal. It was gross. Go away, oil slick. She didn't stop until she hit the mud. And by stop she meant really stop. Junko managed to drag herself to the finish line, at least. Naturally the first thing had to be an obstacle course. Naturally. Mort had a flashback to his first year exam in which he failed so horribly he almost was buried alive in the pit he had fallen into out of shame.Time to see if over a year of studying and battles had helped him get even minutely more coordinated.
The whispering really didn't help.
Clutching at his hood, he barreled down the hill and leapt through the fire with only a moment's panic; he had to remember, he had faced far worse than a little heat. Bracing for impact, Mort continued along, getting over the wall by sheer willpower (well, okay, momentum helped too) and parting through the water with the frenzy of one who really did not like getting wet oh dear Jack.
And then he proved once and for all that pits were, well, his pitfalls. The zomboil finished the rest of the race with a grimace and a few new holes in his body.

Obstacle course? Puh-lease. Piper smacked a fist into her hand and pumped herself up, because she might be a little on the light weight side, and her hair was probably a bigger weakspot than she should, but she had ran often around campus in the morning as a workout (not to mention a certain pair of reapers had made her run up and down the stairs as part of a hazing).
Needless to say, Piper was so ready, you guys.
The mage practically flew through most of the course, hardly looking anywhere but direct in front. She imagined she looked absolutely fabulous while doing so (naturally), as she had prepped her hair and clothes specifically to match the black and blue of the reaper dorms. She only really began to have trouble on the last portion, where the ice made her slip and slide and almost fall off. But by Jack, she finished the race with a wheeze of pride, collapsing onto the ground and twitching just a bit.
Flawless.

Oh boy, an obstacle race! Mayaa flapped her arms excitedly. This should be really ea-. A resounding shot startled her, making her stop mid-flap and drop to the ground with an "oomph". Oh, no flying? Well, that made sense, she supposed. She gave her feathered arms a forlorn look and then sighed, plastering them to her side. No, no cheating. She would not shame the monsters this way!
It didn't occur to her that while she couldn't use her arms to fly, she should at least move them during running, and so when the race started, she was running with her arms pointed down stiffly, and at such a decline, it only resulted in her tumbling down, really, only remembering that her arm were movable limbs right before the wall of fire came up, and shifted them, the wind from her fall hitting her feathered arms, dragging her sideways and saved her from nearly getting scorched, save for singing a few strands of hair.
Managing to dig her talons into the ground before plummeting right off the edge, she pushed herself up, deciding she could at least use her arms to help boost her over the flaming wall, and so with a hop, skip and a jump, she flapped her arms to get over, only to end up with a bullet through her wings, which ended up with more falling and burnt tail feathers. She whimpered, holding her arm as FEAR repaired the bullet hole and decided that maybe she shouldn't do that anymore. That gnome was mean! And so she continued, onto the wall of slime, managing only to get past with her sharpened nails and talons, having a bit of trouble with the spiked hurdles (it was hard running with bird feet ok) and ended up plunging right into the water face first when she tripped. At least she managed to get most of the slime off that way, albeit being completely drenched now.
She hadn't even noticed that the ground beneath her was actually an alumni in disguise until she fell right in, and ended up getting spat out a sizable distance, deterring the bombs with the water from her most recent mishap, and managed to get through the crumbling pillars without too much trouble. Perhaps those treetop races with her siblings did come in handy!
And then water again. It was quite clear water was not in Mayaa's element, and she fumbled, getting caught in nets, being nibbled on by minis, and narrowly getting blown to smithereens, and finally decided to use her arm wings to help propel her forward in the water. She wasn't using it for flying, so that wasn't cheating, right?
Once she got past, she slipped on the ice, managing to catch herself before her face graced the ground again, and learned to use her talons for traction as she began to run, needing to make up for the lost time.
By the time she crossed the finish line, her feet were cold, and she was covered in oil and mud. But she finished! Surely that earned her brownie points, right?Quote: Student Name: Mayaa Points Total: 26 Section 1: 0 + 5 = 5 Section 2: 2 Section 3: 8 Section 4: 0 + 5 = 5 Section 5: 6 Did you remember to use your Speed Stat: Yup! Miasma was only doing this ONLY to prove that reapers excelled at anything and everything. Or more that SHE excelled at anything and everything, and so at the start of the race, she was off to a great start, defying all logic as she ran daintily and quickly, letting out a smirk as other students tumbled around her. When the wall of fire came up, she grimaced but didn't stop, summoning enough butterflies to perform a gust large enough to part the flames enough for her to get through without singeing a single thread of her dress. Perhaps she should give credit to a certain flame demon for teaching her to be extremely cautious about her clothes.
When the wall of slime came up though, she stopped dead in her tracks. No. No. ABSOLUTELY NOT. No way she was dirtying her clothes for something like THIS. She frowned as several other students passed her, some jeering at her, having been the ones she sneered at earlier, and she glared at them. She was only doing this for YOU, reaper dorms, only to prove that she was capable of anything and everything, even if absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. And so, hiking up her skirt, she summoned more butterflies, apologizing as she used them as a stepping stone, de-summoning and re-summoning in a steady pattern until she was above the wall, holding her skirt just high enough to stay clear of the slime, but enough that only the top of her pants underneath showed, and nothing more. But then the butterflies dissipated as she shrieked at a single tiny speck on her dress, ruining her concentration and sending her falling to the ground, scraping her knee.
With a groan, she pushed herself up, only to realize that the speck was just dust, and she huffed, pushing forward once more, having some difficulty with the hurdles, and even more so with the water, only managing to summon her butterflies in time to steady herself and keep her from getting her clothes (and herself) wet.
Arriving at the "spiky pit", she frowned down at it, and attempted to leap over, only to end up being snapped up and spat out at the bombs, which she managed to deter with her butterflies and... saliva. Already cursing loudly and grumbling at being covered in spit, she nearly plumeted into the abyss as a pillar crumbled underneath her, her butterflies again saving her in the nick of time while Psy only shook her head, telling her to calm down.
As the water obstacle came up, Miasma groaned loudly, but tore her heels off and plunged in, glad that this would at least wash the saliva away, swatting at minis with her shoes and glaring daggers at the alumni who threatened to make her day worse.
She slipped her shoes back on as she was on dry ground, but water, coupled with ice made her footing unsteady, falling into the butterflies she summoned. By the end of it all, she was already grumbling, mourning the loss of her heels to jacking mud and oil, and was already shooting death glares at any who dared to comment on her appearance.Quote: Student Name: Miasma Aricia Points Total: 25 Section 1: 10 Section 2: 0 + 3 = 3 Section 3: 2 Section 4: 8 Section 5: 2 Did you remember to use your Speed Stat: Yup! While a good bit of her competitive, aggressive nature had come out during her trip down the rabbit hole, there were several things about the obstacle course that Aldara was concerned with. The fact that it was all sloped down hill, for starters, seemed like something to be worried about. One trip and you'd just tumble and roll and... She took off at the start, scrambling amongst others only to be tripped just shy of the wall of fire. She let out an angry shriek and likely would have shoved back had it not been for the heat of the fire rippling closer. This was not the time or place to get into a shoving match. Instead she turned to the next step, putting her frustration into making quick work of the climbing wall and using a bit of her natural talent for flight to make the hurdles seem easier to leap over... The balls, however, were a bit more of a trick and required just a little more light footwork until she was on the other side. Aldara paused to watch one student take on the next part of the course, learning from their mistakes. While she didn't quite miss getting snatched up by Steve, she did use the momentum of being spit back out to propel herself forward; up and over the field of Bombs only to narrowly miss several crumbling pillars. This was easy! This was... Utter nonsense. Whereas Aldara normally took to the water just as easily as she took to the air, this part of the task seemed considerably more difficult. Her talons got caught in the nets, the minipets tried to nibble on her feathers and every time she tried to squirm away from them she found herself bumping into a mine and... BOOM. By the time she pulled herself out of the water she was more than a little bit miserable, snarling and dripping as she made her way to the next part of the obstacle course. Another student had paused by her, looking almost concerned at how much of a wet mess she was until their light pat on the shoulder caused her to stumble and slip... Right down the ice, on to the oil (that was going to be a nightmare to get out of her feathers) and then right into the mud. And thus was the story of Aldara's No Good Very Bad Obstacle Course Run. He wasn't sure he wanted to be part of this whole racing thing. In fact he would rather have not participated at all, but he was pretty sure Danny might have dragged him to the course had he not come on his own. If not her, then Trisha would have fore certain. She was a bit hyperactive with the new event. It was better not to entice the angry hoof. The start of the race went good actually. It was just a bunch of twists and turns fallowed by a fire wall. He grinned and jumped right through with no fear but he might have almost fell at the gap. What came next was a bit harder though. the slime slowed him down at the start. "Ewe ewe ewe." he did not like that stuff, but it might have actually sped him up in the long run. The balls across water, well he was sure to stay on the balls. Navigating through the bombs was a breeze. Andrew zipped right by them, not even worried about them. Maybe they already thought he was one of them. "Oh Jack." he mumbled when he saw the water. One might wonder how a flame demon got by the water portion of the course. It might have involved a little cheating, or jumping from place to place with the help of some wings. At any rate he zoomed through it before he could be caught. Not without getting most of his clothing soaked though. The ice caused him to slip a few times but he managed to counter balance and stay on his feet... until, he was sure one of the ice demons threw something at his foot. He fell on his face right into the mud. He scrambled up and ran to the end. He was one unhappy demon afterwords, it might be best not to get to near as he might have set himself on various stages of fire in order to dry off. Oh boy, this was going to be interesting. Iggy thought to herself as she looked over the course with some trepidation. She knew she wasn't the fastest of creatures - and was that water she saw glinting in one section? She took a deep breath and steadied herself, ready to run at the signal. GogogoGO! she chanted as she started down the zigzagging course. The downhill slope actually helped her as gravity gave her speed she normally wouldn't possess. The flames at the end didn't even have a chance to singe her as she leapt through them! The climbing wall was a bit more of a challenge than she had thought it would be. Gravity was definitely against her now! Iggy used her strength to punch her own handholds into the rock wall. Just as she was getting ready to try the balls someone zoomed by her and broke her concentration. Aaagggghhhh! Iggy screamed as she went wing over head over feet across the balls, landing in an uncomfortable heap at the start of the next section. Steve and the bombs were not kind to poor Igneous - at all. Apparently the student that had zoomed past her had left Steve with a bit of indigestion. She was burped out right into the bombs. Boom! Boom! and then again she was tossed around. By the time she got to the end of this section she was totally disoriented. And of course it was water that was next. With a sigh Iggy jumped in and went right to the bottom. She trudged along the waterway, trying to avoid what she could while also trying not to sink into the mud. She was not fast and water was definitely not her friend! At the end of the water was... ice? Igneous gingerly stepped on the slick surface and just as promptly fell down. She sat there for a minute in near despair. I so suck at this! she thought. My wings are even more useless here than anywhere! She swooshed her wings in agitation - and slid along the ice! This might work! Swoosh....slide....swoosh...slide - the strategy moved her through the ice and the oil slick - and straight into the sticky mud. There her wings were useless and only her stubborn nature got her through the last few feet and across the finish line. Iggy sat there, a mud covered, exhausted creature. Why was she doing this again? Looking over the course, Sulmanon thought to herself that this should be no problem with her wings, that was until she saw the sniper gnomes. Okay, so no flying. She barely had time to think that before the starter gun was fired and she, like all of the other students, took off. Managing to run at a decent pace downhill and using her tail to help her make the sharper turns without losing speed. That part was no problem. When she got to the wall of fire, though, she did pause for a bit. Finally deciding to fight fire with fire, she wrapped herself in fire dashed through the wall, managing to make it through with minimal burns. Having not noticed the sheer drop-off at the other side, Sulmanon may or may not have used her wings to help propel her a few more feet to the other side. If she did, the gnomes did not notice it. ninja Directly after the gap, Sulmanon was confronted with a large wall covered in handholds and slime, slipping a bit at first, she was then hit by a bit of enlightenment: there was no flying allowed, but that did not mean that she could not ease the force of gravity on herself using her wings, as long as she was not actually flying... With this in mind, she deftly climbed the wall, fanning any students below her at the same time, which might of caused a few of them to slip. Oh well. When she got to the spiked hurdles on the other side, she quickly leaped over them, barely noticing them at all. She did notice the giant balls though, carefully looking up at the gnomes, Sulmanon then made her way through them and may or may not have used her wings a bit in a few close calls... After the balls came a spikey pit, or that was at least what she thought. Then a student directly in front of her tried to jump over it and she saw it was not. While the monster was preoccupied with the other student, she ran past him, hoping the other student would be okay. That is why she accidentally bumped into one of the bombs. She probably would have been hurt worse, if she did not have scales and wear armor constantly. After that, she scanned the course ahead of her and sped through the bombs and the pillars with ease. Next came the water portion. Having not swam much, Sulmanon's wings were pretty much all that kept her from drowning (since she was using them to keep her head out of the water and nothing more, so she was splashing and not flying), that and a lot of the water around her seemed to evaporate whenever she sank too low. Between the excessive splashing and steam, most of the "obstacles" either left her alone or took pity on her for some reason. That, or the other students were more interesting that a dragon close to drowning. Pulling herself out from the water and looking quite "steamed", Sulmanon produced enough flame around her body, to dry off the dampest parts of her body, before she challenged the final portion of the test. The flame around her made it so that the ice path became slicker than it would have been otherwise, meaning most of her way through this section was spent on her rump sliding over the ice. Learning her lesson, Sulmanon had the fire dissipate and pretty much skated over the oil, using her wings and tail for stability. Finally, the finish line was nearby, so Sulmanon put all she could into her speed, including using her wings to just barely cancel gravity enough so that she never actually left the ground, but she didn't sink ether. As she crossed the finish line, she looked up at the gnomes. She had three rifles pointed at her, but they hadn't been fired, since she hadn't, techincally, flown over that last section. Smiling, she stuck her tongue out at them and made tracks back towards the booths. She needed to clean off and look for something to eat... Oh a race! Trisha was super excited, she signed up for all the things. She even got into a good pair of running shorts and put away most of her ribbons for this race. It turned out to be a good thing because the first event was racing down a curvy path. She rocketed down, taking those turns a bit harshly and slamming into a nearby student. oops. When she came to the fire, she bulked and stared at it before finally flinging herself through. She fell down into the gap after and spent a while climbing back up. Not an easy tack for a creature with hooves. The slim was next, but she was determined, very determined. she climbed right up that slime and crossed the spikes with ease, making sure here footing was good. The balls were a little harder but she was in the zone. The spiky pit was a bit harder, and suddenly BOOM! She took of like a one person stamped, the wrong direction. Finally she figured it out and turned around actually going the right direction and away from the bombs. Next up was swimming, this she could do. She hopped right in and doggy paddled her way across. It was a little weird not being able to touch hoof to the ground but she managed. And somehow avoided the nets and lurkers. Finally there was ice an mud. who put the ice right there after water. She managed to do ok for a bit and then tripped over a smaller student after slipping on some ice. Oops. She helped them up, picking the smaller student up and patting them down before moving ahead into the mud. No big deal, until it got to her neck. She sloshed through an made it to the finish line a bit behind the others. Night lazily flicked his tail, looking down at the obstacle course with disdain. He was a ghost. Couldn't he just phase through all this?
He started the descent, only barely hitting the fire...but at least he was still on course!
It was on to the climbing wall next, and as he got higher and higher...his foot slipped...dropping him back down farther. he just barely managed to crawl his way back up.
He sped through Bombs and Steve without a look back. No way.
And said ******** that at water because ******** that.
Then the final stretch where he managed to walk down. Sinking the mud only made him upset and thus phased himself out.
All in all...The obstacle course took him forever to finish.

Amphi made a very big O v O face at the obstacle course, stretching to prepare herself for the run.
Once the okay was given, she took off with a run, sliding down the rocks and managing to launch herself over the fire with ease.
The climbing wall came next, and she didn't even waste time staring at it, attacking it with a vegence never before seen by the mermaid. Pretty soon it was just something behind her.
Steve though proved to be a problem as she tried to ease around him, almost getting swallowed up...and she avoided the bombs by very carefully tiptoeing around them.
The water proved more dangerous, as she couldn't shift to her mermaid form and it took a long time for her to get comfortable with it. Plus she got to talking to the minipets and well underwater gossip!
With the mindset to finish the course, she literally slid from ice to Oil to the very end of a mudpit where she hit the finish line in record speed.
"YAY GO MONSTERS!" She cheered, coming up all muddy but very happy.
O V O!!!

Edit incoming after pokemons and sleep Demi was not going to take it easy on the obstacle race. it was a race afterall. Racing made his tail wag faster. It meant a chance to beat things. it had to start at a hill, the hellhound noted, peering down the slope and feet following soon after, rolling with the sharp turns and keeping his footing barely. "If its all running, this will be a breeze" he remarked, egotistically and skidded in his tracks. the wall that stood in the way, that wasn't an item to be run on. foiled again. hand to foot, having a sis that can bounce helped with learning how to climb to keep up with her as he scrambled up and over the behemoth of a structure and the three balls waitingin the water................ "Is this really a race, or is this an episode of slimeout!"
