With their arrangement, they were at disadvantage. Rath knew they needed to do something or else the risen would win due to sheer numbers.

He then heard a yell from a girl, and his eyes darted towards where it came from, in fear that a risen had gotten one of their party. Instead, he saw the results of Marina's fighting. He quickly surmised what she was thinking. If some of them could break through and attack from the rear, it could cause the risen's movements to become erratic. They would be drawn to foes in front and behind them, relieving the fighters who remained. From both sides, the group could dwindle the risen quickly and overcome them. He understood what to do.

"Susan! Kierkess! Regulus! Grab somebody and follow me, now!"

After giving the order to his mounted comrades that would be able to get through quickly with him, Rath rode after Marina, slicing at any revenant or bonewalker that got in his way. "Behind!" he shouted, once he was near Marina. When she turned, she would see that his hand was extended for her to grab so that he could pull her onto the back of his horse. This would need to happen quickly without Rath slowing, so that their momentum wouldn't be lost. All together, that would be eight people attacking from the outside to relief pressure for the others. On top of that, Julia, Kalilah and the fire dragon were also causing discord in the risen army with their attacks.

This was the true coordination of guild members fighting together.

Marina paused for a split second to catch her breath, then twirled it around, stabbing both in front of her and behind her. The air was quickly growing too hot to bear thanks to the dragon's breath, but as sweat drenched her forehead she paid no mind as she fluidly handled her lance and deftly incapacitated many assailants.

She was starting to become overwhelmed once again, and her next charge of frigid Fimbulvetr would not be ready soon enough. Fortunately, she heard Rath's call for her ring through the air, and with a mere glance in his direction, her hand met his as she grabbed his arm and used the momentum to pull herself up onto his horse.

"Thanks, Captain!" she announced.

Now less focused upon mobility, she twirled the lance in wild, skillful circles, tearing through rows of further Risen as she applied her efforts towards safety for all the guild members.

Sue didn't like the way things were playing out. It was clear that Lord Hector was not defenseless, and yet Rath still wouldn't let him join. She wanted to argue, imagine that! She's usually trusted her father's judgement, but things were different now that there was a war on. Sue was thinking of victory before all else, and that meant having more numbers.

Just as she was about to say something though, Julia reported back in. It seemed like the undead pursuers hadn't let her off either. Almost as soon as her warning, the fighters filed in, one after another. At first, Sue tried to fill them with a volley of arrows. She gasped as some of the revenants rose back up, as if nothing had hit them at all.

Sue drew her silver sword, joining the other guild members at the front lines. While the magic casters sent forth their spells, Sue slashed away at the undead, making sure to aim for their heads. She stayed clear of a certain red-armored knight and his reckless axe swing, along with keeping her distance from Marina's furious Fimbulvetr.

She looked behind to make sure that her comrades weren't injured, and also to check if the undead had broke their line of defense. So far, so good.

In her moment of respite, she heard her father's call. Her eyes looked to Roy, who was the nearest to her. "Let's go. It looks like we're going to rush them." she said, taking the Lord's hand and pulling him onto the back of her horse. While speeding forward to Rath's side, Sue kept a sharp eye on her surroundings.

Sue was the first to leap off her steed, striking at the undead foes that were within her blade's reach. She was certain that Roy would follow through.

Wil again couldn't do anything but stare as the plainswoman bubbly said she didn't wanna help protect the supply wagon and ran off.

".......... Merlinius would not like this army." He said to himself thoughtfully as he shrugged and hurried his pace as the fighting intesified, he could see a few of the dead had broken through he line and were making tracks towards the wagon.

"Leena! Hector!" He shouted when they came into sight, raising his bow and firing at the risen coming towards the little wagon. "Looks like we might have a fight on our hands in a second!"

(s**t post is s**t, mostly because I have no idea what Leena or Hector are doing at the moment since Leena never posted... so have some Risen!)

It wasn't that Roy was having a hard time. It was more that the shield was proving to be rather useless against axes. Swords were fine. He could block those with the shield. Lances were harder, but they could be parried. Arrows could be blocked as well. But axes? Not so much. It was probably better to stay on the offensive against those. After all, he could dominate them with a sword thanks to the weapon triangle.

After dealing a finishing blow to a revenant with an axe, Roy heard Rath give an order for the riders to grab someone and follow him. Not a moment later, Sue called out to him, reaching out her hand. Sure, he'll take it.

With movements that couldn't be done on a first try (if this was his first try getting pulled up by Sue onto her horse. They had been fighting together for what seemed like forever now), Roy swung up behind her and took a seat. As she rode after her father, the young lord would fend off attacks towards her with the shield in one hand and slice through the enemy with the sword in the other. Didn't seem too bad...

Except when Sue suddenly decided to dismount and fight on foot.

Roy floundered for the reins of her horse after a brief shock. When he finally had managed to grab a hold of them, he scooted forward before pulling back on the reins, turning the horse around to keep close to Sue. He had experience with horse riding and even mounted-combat (Marcus sure beat both of those into him, thinking the young lord would be just like his father and pursue the path of Paladin), but this was one of his first times having free reign of a nomadic horse. His shield hand commanded the reins as he pulled up near Sue, bashing the skull of a skeleton with the sword's pommel.

Rath would probably seriously kill him if anything happened to his unusually reckless daughter.

It seemed like forever when the group left Leena's convoy behind to pursue the bandits who stole her goods (along with Rin.) However, they returned relatively safe, with almost everything accounted for. But it was far too early to rest on her laurels. Although Leena had taken a much-needed nap, she was given a rude awakening by the commotion of battle. "What's going on? Are they ambushing us again?" she wondered. She reached for her hammer, gripping it in her hands, but blinking to try and keep herself awake.

Although Rath, FD, Sue, Roy and Marina were putting up a nice offensive, one of the revenants had broken through! Leena steeled herself for the oncoming fight and tried to hold her hammer in a position to strike, but it was obvious she was unprepared.

Bam! It wasn't Leena's hammer swing that connected with the undead monster, but Enalios's mighty blow. He'd delivered such a swift and terrible strike that it was certain their enemy would not be moving again.

"E-Enalios, thank goodness you were here!" Leena exclaimed. She tried to appear battle ready by standing beside him, holding her hammer in a similar way he did his. On the inside though, she was shaking. She was afraid. It wasn't often that she had to stand up and defend herself - others always did it for her. "They might have caught me off guard once, but it won't happen again! They'll have to get through both of us." she said. She was unaware of her voice threatening to break as she tried to appear tough.

Sister Victoria

Sister ۩ Victoria

Ѻ ⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹ ф ⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹ Ѻ

The situation sure escalated quickly. One minute, Victoria was healing the group's wounded and checking over her trusty light tomes to make sure they didn't need to be switched out in the convoy. The next minute, Julia returned with some undead company. Victoria had to admit there was never a dull moment with this guild - not even when they could use one. She opened up her Divine tome quickly, casting its light from her staff.

Her spell ripped through a revenant that tried to come close. "I bet whoever sent these foul creatures didn't count on a trained slayer to be among this group." she stated. Victoria readied herself for another incantation, and tossed her spells wherever they were needed. Whether she supported those in the front lines or took care of the stragglers who tried to make their way to Leena and Enailios, the bishop was definitely earning her place as a member of the party.

"I'm powerful, and that's all that matters, right? I couldn't call these people my best friends, no... my best friends are gone, but I know the guild members not my enemies." she thought as her staff once again went alight with another Divine spell. "And they need my gifts. As long as I keep up my duties as your messenger, I will always belong here, won't I, St. Elimine?"

But then an ugly thought wormed its way into Victoria's mind. If she were truly gifted, how come she couldn't stop those closest to her from becoming casualties of war? Why couldn't she raise the dead? Others have done it before, and Victoria only turned her nose up. She referred to them as "dark sorcerers," but what if that was because she wanted what they had?

Sister Victoria shook her head to try and regain her focus. By the time she pushed the unwelcome words back in her mind where they belonged, a revenant was headed straight for her. There was no time to light off a spell. She quickly blocked the beast's claws with her staff, and kicked it squarely in its mid section. That gave some distance between them, but otherwise, the undead creature remained unfazed.

"Amon, onto me! Ramla, Sir Rath has called for your pick up, place your trust in our allies!"

Amir called out to the two beside him, having heard Rath's call to push forward, agreeing with his idea of taking the battle to two fronts. "Let's see if they can handle an attack on both sides, crush the opposition entirely!" He seathed his sword, taking a step back to give a sharp, trained whistle to call on his steed, who had been left behind in case there had to be one last drive forward. "Amon, take my hand! Onto Hana, she knows how to handle herself in a situation like this! We'll take the fight to them, so remember your training on horseback with me! You're my spear, so I trust you!" Amir leapt after Hana to take his place at the reigns, taking a tight grip before rearing her back, her hooves coming crashing down onto the skeletons in front of the two. Trusting Amon, with some prior warning, to take his spot behind him, Amir ushered Hana to speed off in pursuit of the rest of the group.

Sue and Roy, who she had picked up earlier, had already begun their assault, a front that Amir was more than happy to assist. "Let's finish this now, it's gone on far enough!" Once more, he dismounted, leaving the armored Hana to make her way out through the path they had cut down. Taking his place next to the two, expecting Amon to do the same, he gave a nod to acknowledge their presence. "You have us watching your back now, we won't let you fall!" He stepped forward, throwing off an assailant that was making a beeline towards Sue's horse from Roy's blindspot, trying to take advantage of the sudden switch. Its bones, strung together and reanimated by dark magicks, rattled against the steel of his blade before collapsing with one final blow, leaving the Sentrian to continue onto his next target.

"Rath, I don't think it would be wise to prolong this any longer!"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Rath rode out onto the other side and slowed to allow Marina to dismount and go back to doing her thing. He took a moment to scan the area as he sheathed his sword and reached his bow. What had started as a startling battle in which the enemy had suddenly appeared and were quickly upon them had been transformed by their efforts. They were closing in on the risen on all sides. With their coordination, the battle wouldn't last much longer.

An arrow was let loose from Rath's bow, hitting a bonewalker where the arm and shoulder connected so that the weapon in its hand would not be swung. He stayed in the rear and continued to scan the area and fire an arrow to stop the movement of the few risen who managed to break out of their cage and go after one of the group. He was focused and his aim was true with every shot.

Rath eyed Amir momentarily as the Sentrian spoke to him and then focused quickly back onto the field. "Indeed. We have surrounded and overcome them! Push forward, on all sides! Leave none standing! Everyone, together! One final push!"

The numbers of the risen army dropped rapidly after the guild coordinated and worked together so effectively. The archers gathered at the center and continued to fire upon the group, but their shots were sloppy and they mostly focused on the pegasus flying up above, which distracted them from the closer targets around them.

Once only a few of the risen were left, a particularly large one became noticeable amongst the survivors. It still carried most of its flesh, as it was heavily muscled, though the skeleton showed in areas. Armor covered its broad shoulders and chest, with a horned helmet covering the skull. Both its hands gripped a long, thick chain and at the end of it hung a large, spiked ball. It turned slowly towards the guildsmen in the rear, as if the empty blackness of its eye sockets was glaring at them, and daring them to try and finish the job.

Fire Dragon

User ImageAlthough the heat of battle continued to flicker, FD’s Flametongue was no longer worth employing – their necrotic enemies’ numbers had dwindled to the point that the immense power of the Fire Dragon’s signature attack would be more a burden than boon to his allies. He switched his approach, landing near the largest group of the remnants of their foes before he got his nails done his perfectly lethal claws went to lunch, chowing down on the undead with them, literally tearing their raggedy bones apart.

Nothing else to report here. Moving on.

The number of fiends seemed to be dropping at a faster rate. He was fairly grateful for the dragon on their side. He felt that he could have been more scared if it was aimed towards him. But with flames coming from him, there wasn't as much to worry about.

Holding his hammer, he grinned towards Leena. "Now that's the attitude I wanna hear!" He said, knowing for sure that he could trust her. However, he soon dropped his grin as he stared towards the remaining forces. The lumbering one in particular had his gaze. "...That one looks like it'll be a lot harder to defeat. Must be the leader then." He added, pointing it out.

Amon Jis

PostPosted: Tue Mar 11, 2014 5:07 pm

Never in a thousand years would Amon have thought they would face a walking corpse, let alone hundreds of them. What kind of foe would have a legion of the undead at his command? What was certain was that they weren't dealing with one set of foes anymore.

Amon tore through many bonewalkers as best he could, ignoring the smell as best he could, going by the weight of his spear and the sound of metal breaking through brittle rotted bones. He stayed close to his comrades in hopes that working closely together would lessen their chances of being overcome by their enemies. If the meat of the forces wasn't dealt with soon, the guildsmen, even in their numbers, could be easily overwhelmed.

This had to end, and quickly.

He took Amir's hand at his order, and got onto the horse as fast as he could. He steadied himself and held fast to his lords' mount. He knew Hana could carry the two of them at least for a little while, but he tried his best to not trouble either of them with the burden of a fighter not fit for horseback.

There was one enemy among the horde that stood out. It only become more of an eyesore as the pair got closer to the remainder, and its' fellows seemed to be clearing the way for whatever the creature had in store for them with that enormous ball and chain. Amon wouldn't let it come to that. The damage it could do was frighteningly apparent.

He eyed the foe up and down, looking for a place to strike when they were close enough. He looked for gaps, places where the creatures' flesh was most apparent. Hana would likely be too fast for it, but he could raise their chances considerably...

When the time was right, Amon bounded off of Hana and ran straight away towards its' side, close enough for the sprint to be thankfully short. He thrust his lance into the creatures' loose rotting flesh, and soon after, withdrew it and thrust it in again.

After the spear was thrust in again, it grabbed the spear, locking it in place. The wight turned its head and stared at the man, before suddenly spinning and yanking the spear harshly, the man along with it. The wight then sluggishly held up the chain and and with great force, swung it over his head, sending the spiked ball soaring over to land where the man was.

Sue and Roy's teamwork took care of the undead that were on their front. Things seemed to look good for the guild all around. Even their newer allies appeared to be handling themselves. But just before everyone could be relieved, trouble arrived. Big trouble.

The thing was as tall and large as it was ugly. And did it smell. It was probably ten times worse than rotten eggs. Sue covered her nose, but dared to ride closer. "Let's go, Roy. Let's get rid of this thing." she said, brandishing her sword. She tried to think of anything else but the stench.

Sue swung her silver sword. Thwack! It struck against the wight with a fierce, swift blow. Although it was not enough to fell the creature, it surely did some damage. It also opened the door for the others to close in and attack. They couldn't come a moment sooner.
