That night. . .
. . .At Sammy's door there was a knock. Late night, far more than any decent person would have tried. The banging was loud enough to startle anyone.

. . . At Lucy's door there was another knock. Maria stoped and leaned on the door frame, a bit sweaty as she pulled out her phone and texted Lucy shortly:
"Hey, it's me at the door."

. . . At Yuuka's door there was also a knock. Seijin stood a the door, in a ligth winter jacket. Underneath she still wore her white shirt with a vest over it; likely she had jus arrived from the school and come this way. She checked to make sure there was people awake. The air was chilly, and she could see her breath against the kitchen window's light.
She couldn't make out anyone's silhouettes against it.

Samantha awoke with a start. Somehow she had made it to her bed, and was now staring at the ceiling. There was a rather loud series of knocks at the door. Despite being groggy, this concerned Samantha greatly; could the building be on fire or something?
She hurried forced herself up onto wobbly legs and made her way towards the door, not noticing she was nearly stripped, being only in a soft lavender tank top and a pair of white women's boxers. Samantha opened the door, flooding the dark room with the hallway's light. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust.
"H... Hello? Who is it? What time is it?" the young student asked in a concerned tone, still for fear of danger.

Lucy too awoke suddenly, the knock, little jingle and accompanying vibration rattling the few objects on her nightstand. She rolled around in her covers trying to find her limbs, and a few seconds later an arm emerged to grasp at the handset. With a push of a button, the screen blinked on, displaying the message across its screen.
"Ah--?!"
Lucy leaped out of her bed (well, more like fell - with a loud thud!) and scrambled for the door, quickly unlocked its series of locks and opened it. "Maria!" Lucy was equally surprised and happy to see her dear friend. "Hey, are you alright? You don't look so good..." She took a cautions step forward, slowly and gently taking Maria's arm. "What's wrong? Why are you awake so late?"

The knock surprised the young teacher. Yuuka looked up from her fork, pausing mid bite. "Ah...?" She set the utensil down and excused herself from the dinner table. "I wasn't expecting any company tonight..." She paused, looking back to Nora. "Well, none aside from you, of course! --Wait... Nora, you can't be seen here-- you can't be seen here!" Yuuka made motions with her hand, shooing Nora from the table.
She then went to the door, peering through the eye hole. "Kazuko...? What could she want at this hour? ... s**t, Nora-- you need to get changed, and quickly!" Yuuka paused, waiting for Nora to vacate the room before opening the door with a pleasant smile.
"Ah, good evening, Mrs. Kazuko! Isn't it a bit late for a walk~?"

"Hello," A sweet smile came from the girl at the door. Her eyes were ... and oddly vibrant blue, and her smile seemed a bit too sweet. She wore the school basketball team's jersey with a "20" in the school colors. "Ah, it is somewhat late, and I am Tabitha. ....."
She shoved inside, picked Sammy up easily by the neck. In a twirl she had the shorter girl up against the wall, the door closed and her free hand over Samantha's mouth. "Now I suggest you listen well, little rusted critter~"

Maria allowed Lucy to lead her, the kendo captain wore some pajama pants and a red-baggy top.Her skin was burning and Lucy's touch, despite the fact the blonde had been under the covers , felt like an Ice cube. "I don't feel so good. . . I had a nightmare I think . . ." She was deathly pale, and her feet were clumsy.
She staggered and ended up leaned heavily on Lucy. Her skin was a bit sticky with the sweat that coated it. "I feel sick. . . " Maria tried to straighten out but she was going to pass out soon if she didn't sit down!

"Eh? Company this late?" Nora looked up, and followed after Yuuka, though staying behind in the kitchen and peeking out.
Once Yuuka said it was Kazuko though, the student turned bright red and hurried over, "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhyhhhhhhhhhh-!" She snatched her backpack from her living room and hurried off to what was her room since she took up living there.

"Hello Ms. Kazami, I've told you to just call me Seijin; we aren't working after all!" Seijin removed her glasses and tucked them into her pocket,"It is late, but... I have some concerns to speak with you. Particularly speaking, the little incident we have developing."

"I hope I am not an inconvenience." This she said after peering over Yuuka's shoulder at the young man who had just walked down the hall buttoning his dressing shirt up.
He wore the suit pants and the dressing shirt, and the suit's jacket open, as if he had just gotten cold. "Oh, hello Ms. Kazami." He cleared his throat and walked up behind Yuuka.
"Mr. Mousetsu," She bowed her head in greetings which he returned likewise.

"Tabitha...?" Sammy squinted through her blindness. She wasn't expecting to be knocked aside and swept up off her feet. In Tabitha's grasp, she squirmed and writhed, her hands clutching at the girl's arm.
With a hand clasped over her mouth, Samantha was at Tabitha's utter mercy. There wasn't anything else she could do but listen to what she had to say... and pray that she didn't snap her neck.

"A nightmare?? Was it bad--?!" Lucy lead the girl to her own bed. Maria looked terrible, shaking and unsteady. If she passed out, at least she could rest there! She eased Maria down, then reached to her nightstand for her bottle of water. "Here, you should try drinking something! --Ah, I will get you a warm cloth, I'll be right back!" After giving the bottle to Maria, Lucy set off into the bathroom. The sound of running water could be heard, followed by a soft splash as she wrung out the cloth. Lucy returned moments later and sat next to Maria, wiping at her brow and temple slowly and gently, then moved down to her neck...
"You're dripping in sweat! Are you sick? Like a cold or something? I knew there was something wrong with you...!"

"Ah... I understand, Mrs.-- erm, I mean Seijin. And of course you are of no inconvenience!" Yuuka bowed her head quickly and moved aside, allowing her fellow teacher to enter her home, and then closed the door behind her.
"Y... Yes, you recall Mo? You two have met before." Yuuka blushed lightly, turning her face from Seijin. "He and I had a dinner date, but I don't think he'll mind another guest. There is plenty of food, if you are hungry~" Yuuka lead the way back to the kitchen and the dinner table (and the food!). She went to the cupboard and took out another plate, then set it at an unoccupied space on the table. "You're welcome to eat as much as you'd like, dear Seijin. As dark as our topic must be, it doesn't mean we can't enjoy ourselves a little - and Mo here is an excellent cook!"
Returning to her own place at the table, Yuuka picked up her fork and continued, "So, what is it that you wanted to discuss? Have there been any new developments?"

"Good girl~" Tabitha cooed as Samantha writhed in her grasp. An oppressive vibe could be felt from the basketball player as her smile turned a bit twisted. "I'm only going to say this once, so You better listen to me carefully, " She cackled a little giggle,"You better stay out of my way and let Heidi be. I've been working too hard to let you have any sort of involvement with her." She made a small gesture with her head , before continuing, "More than a threat consider this a warning; things will start to get ugly with the little yeti, and if you get tangled with her, it'll be your head to roll first,.... and not by my hand if you get my drift~" She let go of Samantha suddenly letting her fall into the floor.
"That was all I wanted to say," Tabitha smiled once again sweetly,"If You have an issue or a problem, I am on the front of your dorm, three doors left, okay~?"

"Yeah I don't know-.... " Maria responded sitting a bit hunched in Lumine's bed before the blonde started whirl-winding around. She busied herself with the water, discovering she was parched.
Before she knew it, Lucy was once more by her side wiping the sticky sweat off her. Unconsciously, Maria leaned into her attention closing her eyes gently,"I don't know.... I just woke up feeling like I was about to ... die. My back is hurting again and the medicine hasn't kicked in.... I was afraid of passing out and being alone. So... I came here...."

"I am guessing Mr. Mo is aware of the little epidemic?" Seijin followed her hostess, and Mousetsu who also followed behind them.
"I have heard this or that," He responded letting Yuuka take care of the plates and sitting himself down,"But like she said, I hope you would like to have dinner over this matter."
"I would, I came here from my temporal residency in the campus and I am more than famished!" Seijin smiled as she sat and took a small portion of the offered food.
"To address your question," Seijin returned her attention to Yuuka,"I've assessed there to be more than a few students with decks. A few of these decks are still dormant, and have never been activated, there is a few others that have already begun to take effect. Two of the involved I know closely, and they happen to be staying in the campus."
"There is also...... two particularly disturbing decks who have awakened rather aggressively, though I have not zero'd in on the responsible for the fluctuations."

Samantha gasped as she fell, clutching at her throat and coughing. She stared wide-eyed at the girl before her. Why did she want her to stay away from Heidi? What did it matter to her? Further why the hell did she outright attack her for it?!
She stared at the girl's face, this 'Tabitha', with anger. Samantha felt around beside herself, her hand coming into contact with one of her boots, made of somewhat heavy sturdy leather. Rising, boot in a clenched fist, she swung as hard as she could at Tabitha's head.

"Maybe that was part of the dream...?" Lucy wrapped an arm behind Maria's back, bracing the girl as she leaned. "I have nightmares a lot too, almost every night..." She continued to wipe at Maria's exposed skin with the cloth, before rolling up her sleeves and wiping at her arms too.
"But when I don't, I get to see fantastic places, and amazing things... Like a mountain, taller than any sky scraper, where magical people live! Even people like those winged ones, erm... the Tengy! And there's even towns and villages, and on that mountain there is a huge city!" Lucy pointed towards some of the colored pencil drawings on her wall, displaying her own depictions of the places in her dreams. She decided to tell Maria these things, hoping to keep her mind off the nightmare.
"But... It makes me happy that you came to me for help... Tell you what, you can sleep in my room tonight! I'll keep guard so no bogey men can get you!" She looked at Maria with a triumphant twinkle in her eye.

"Oh! Erm, yes, Mo does indeed know. Some things. I've confided in him about it before... you know, another mind to help sort the details?" Yuuka added, hoping to alleviate Seijin's worries.
"Good, dormant is what we want. With any luck, those few will stay that way. And I assume you are keeping an eye on the other two?" Yuuka took a bite of her food, chewing her morsel as Seijin went on. "... Aggressive?" She looked sideways at 'Mo'. "How... aggressive are we talking here?" Yuuka was no stranger to aggression, especially not when it came to the spell cards. Her own deck once threatened her sanity, and at its worst, almost cost Yuuka her life, not to mention the one boy who had attempted to gain his entry to Paradise.
"Whoever the owners of these decks are must be found, and found quickly. Those decks are the ones that start incidents, and also are the ones who possess the highest amount of magical potential. It is also in my experience that those decks have a higher saturation of whatever personality is tied to it." She stabbed at a piece of food with her fork; "I almost lost to mine."

Tabitha tried to tilt away, but the boot caught her on the shoulder. She , however, had caught Samantha's wrist and pinned it to the wall once more. In pushing Samantha back into the wall, her now free hand moved to strike her in the stomach.
"That might actually bruise!" Tabitha laughed, digging her nails into Samantha's wrist viciously,"You need to be wiser when pickin' your fights, sweetie~ "
Tabitha grabbed her throat again,"Now. Where should I hit you for that? Somewhere where Heidi will never see~ " Her eyes looked over Samantha's figure, finally lighting as she picked a place. "Here~!" To punctuate her sentence, her fist connected with Samantha's right ribs. It wasn't once; she hit her at least five times before letting her go and laughing in distinct delight,"What, Gonna get up again~~~?!"

"They are called 'tengu' ....." Maria was relieved with the cloth on her skin. It felt nice and a bit refreshing. As Lucy continued to speak and wipe at her sweat, the kendo captain nodded and looked a her friend's skilled art work. She always did love looking at Lucy's pictures. . .
Maria found herself leaned against Lucy. The arm around her back had relaxed her, and with her body letting go, her exhaustion began to dim the lights. "I'll.... Take you up on.... the offer...."
And again she was unconcious, her hands gently grabbing onto Lucy's shirt.

"Very. Reportedly, one of them is a student of the drama department, a girl known as Farona, much more than that I cannot confirm," Seijin responded," The second is a member of the basketball team who has grown a bit aggressive if sadistic against her opponents on the basketball courts. Whether her problem is psychological or the cards I am still investigating."
"I am quite aware with the dangers, Yuuka, I saw it too. Despite the fact I was not victim of it because of 'my personality's ' .... age and willing disposition. "
"Eh? You know , 'bout the personality in your cards?" Mo asked.
"Yes, I do. She is an aged tengu warrior," She chuckled, "She is much to old to cause trouble, or so she says."
"Amazing, you talk with it-- her?" Mo asked truly surprised.
"Somewhat, I will teach you someday," Seijin laughed waving a hand," We do have a matter at hand. Without the students under constant supervision , It will take longer for me to keep them in check, and searching them out will take just as long."
"Why not focus on the ones at the dorm?" the man offered,"Might be the cleanest place to start at?"
"You have a point; three students who I've ID'd with cards are staying, those I am keeping an eye on. Finding the others though, that is were I will need help."

Samantha would have doubled over with the blow to her stomach, but Tabitha's grip on her wrist held her upright. She dropped the boot and cringed, holding her midsection, until the girl's other hand grasped at her throat once more. Samantha gripped at her arm, trying desperately to wrestle free, but Tabitha's unnatural strength held her fast. Again, Samantha was at her mercy.
The blows were quick, and painful. She unconsciously kept count, but lost track as the pain mounted, numbing her mind. She didn't cry out, instead gritting her teeth through the abuse, only letting out a gasp as she was released and promptly crumpled to the floor in pain and shock. Samantha curled up on her side, cradling her aching ribs, tears streaming from her eyes.
"Y... you... b***h...!"

Lucy paused, watching her friend as she fell fast asleep. How cute~
She set the cloth down and began to slowly ease Maria back into bed when she felt something on her back. At first, Lucy thought it was only her undergarments, but realized it was far too rigid to be that. Careful to brace Maria, Lucy carefully slipped a hand up the back of the girl's shirt, feeling around her shoulder blades. There was something very... off... about the bone structure. Lucy may have slept through most of her biology classes, but even she could tell that it was wrong! It had to have something to do with the cards. They had owned theirs for a long while now, but before the changes to their bodies had only taken place inside of duels. Now it seemed as if they were changing Maria permanently...
Withdrawing her hand, Lucy eased Maria down the rest of the way, then took her covers and tucked the dark-haired girl in. She then picked up her handset from the nightstand, and soundlessly left the dorm room into the hallway. She flipped through the contacts list on her phone, scrolling until she found her teacher's name...
[Calling: Kazuko, S. ...]

"I'd rather not know what my persona has to say..." Yuuka commented softly, staring down at her plate of food and having lost her appetite. "If what you say is true, then things are worse than we thought... We'll need to act quickly if things are to stay under control and cause the least amount of damage as possible. And naturally, you have Mr. Mo and my cooperation." She cleaned the corners of her mouth with her napkin, and smiled. "Mo comes to pick me up nearly every night, so I'm sure he'll be of use, and I can watch students in my class and around school. You already have my contact information, and I yours, so we can keep in touch should any incident arise."

"I know right?" Tabitha giggled down at Samantha's sorry state. "Well it's about time I head to bed, It is getting late~ Oh! Don't worry I will show myself out, friend~!"
She laughed and laughed as she went to the door, stopping to peek back at Samantha, her expression suddenly grew sour and dead serious. "Remember what I said, rusty. I won't be easy on you next time we meet."
"Well a good night and have a good summer~!" The door closed, and Tabitha left. On her way to the room however, she stumbled upon Lucy, who she went around and avoided for the most part except for a polite hand wave.

"Of course, of course, I'll keep an eye on the students who are staying there for the summer. We at least have a place to start which was what I was concerned with, since we hadn't had time to sit and discuss--" A phone started ringing. Seijin blinked and quickly started patting around her jacket and pulled out her own cell phone. Next she patted for her glasses, which she did eventually produce and placed on her nose,"Uh... Excuse me for a second."
She stood and walked outside the kitchen flipping her phone open.
Mo meanwhile tugged at his shirt, he leaned a bit forward hissing a small whimper, "I'm dying here Yuuka-.... This thing is on too tight---!"
~ "Hello, Lucy. What is the matter? Are you okay?" Seijin talked into her headset concerned. After all, it wasn't like Lucy to call this late, or rather to call at all ! (She liked to text.)

Samantha pulled herself along the floor, clutching at both the ground and her body. She watched Tabitha leave, shutting the door behind her. Suddenly, there was silence and darkness. Slowly, the young girl got onto her hands and knees, dragging herself along the ground and towards her bed. She wouldn't make it, collapsing and passing out on the floor.

"Hiii Mrs. Kazuko!" Lucy greeted her teacher over the phone happily, though in a hushed tone. It was the dead of night after all!
"Um, yeah, I'm fine, but I'm a little worried about Maria... She came to my room just a minute ago, and-- huh? O-Oh, hi! --And uh... well, she said she had a nightmare, but she was all cold and sweaty... I thought maybe she was getting sick, but, well... I was touching her back and it felt like... I dunno, things... kinda under her skin? Like extra bone or something... Like where her shoulder blades are. It felt kinda weird, but... I dunno if it's actually a thing but I was worried so I thought I should let you know!"

"Ah, yes, of course Seijin." Yuuka bowed her head as her guest excused herself, taking the moment to recollect her composure. She was almost a little startled by Mo's interruption, turning to look at 'him' leaned closer to her.
"What 'thing'...?" She whispered back, then watched as Mo tugged and pulled at the worn shirt. It was then that she realized what 'he' was talking about. "--Oh! Well... just endure it a bit more, okay? This shouldn't take too much longer, unless she decides to stay for the evening...! Honestly, did you tie it too tight or something...?"

~ "I see...." Seijin was quiet on her side of the line deep in thought. So the abnormality in Maria may be caused by the cards. Bone structures didn't grow over night. "I will be there in about twenty minutes, Lucy. I am out of the campus as of right now, but I am on my way. I'll check Maria once I get there, okay? Don't worry too much, here.
"I'll be there in a while." She hanged up and returned to the kitchen-....
--- " I did- I didn't think I had time to be careful with it! " Mo replied, sweating a bit as 'he' felt the room heat up. It must have been really suffocating her! " I hope so- "
Seijin returned,"I am sorry, something just came up back at the school; I may have found another person under the influence of the cards, and it's affecting her physically now."
"What? Is that person okay?"
"I am going to check on her, I will send you an email or a text , Yuuka, once I am sure what is going on," Seijin turned to her fellow teacher,"I am sorry to have to walk away from such a delicious dinner but you must understand my hurry and concern."

Lucy waited, rubbing at her shoulder with her free hand. She knew Mrs. Kazuko must be thinking hard about what she had told her! And if that was true, then what she said must have been really important!
"Okay, Mrs. Kazuko! I'll keep an eye on Maria until then, okay? Drive safe!" She waited for Seijin to hang up so she was sure the conversation was over. Once the line went dead, Lucy shut off her phone's screen and turned around, peeking into her room again to check on her schoolmate. Once she was sure Maria was still resting, Lucy crept back inside and shut the door soundlessly, then went over to sit down at her beside, ready and at Maria's beck and call.

"Is that so..." Yuuka replied quietly, fingers to her chin in thought. "It is understandable. Please, do not worry. The future of our students... no, more importantly the lives of our students, must come first. Besides, Mr. Mo here cooks quite often; one night we must invite you again when we can be a little more, erm... prepared!" Yuuka chuckled, rising from the table. "Please, let me show you out. What kind of host would I be if I didn't at least see you off..?" She quickly looked back at 'Mo', giving him a wink. "And please, do inform me as soon as you know anything. And if you need any assistance, I will be ready to help."

"As you prefer!" Seijin smiled as Yuuka walked her to the door, "I promise to keep you updated, Yuuka, I will see you when I do, have a good night!"
In a bit of a hurry, Seijin left with a wave and hurried to her car with long strong strides... As soon as Nora heard the door closer she began fumbling with her shirt and the bindings within.
"God, I am going to pass out-" She would mumble as her fingers pried and picked a the bindings,"I don't think my brain is getting enough oxygen!"

Minutes later, Seijin arrived at the school. She parked and hurried up to the dorms, and to what she recognized as Lucy's room. Figuring that Maria would be asleep, she knocked once, and silently waited for Lucy to answer the door.
She would signal her to walk into the hall so that they could talk a bit before the teacher even tried to check on Maria."Hello Lucy, I presume Maria is still fast asleep?" Seijin smiled warmly, as usual not wanting her student to worry,"Tell me how she's doing... has she noticed the bumps herself?"

Yuuka let out a breath she had been holding as her guest left. She returned to the kitchen to find her other guest undressing herself. She chuckled lightly, returning to her seat at the dinner table. "Leave it to you to find a way to be suffocated by your own chest!" She picked up a steak knife and handed it to the girl, "And since when did your brain ever receive enough oxygen?"

Lucy heard the knock, still being wide awake with concern. She eagerly hopped to her feet and went to the door, completing the same soundless motions to exit the room. Despite her worry, she greeted Seijin with a bright smile on her face, her otherwise messy hair had been loosely tied in a side ponytail.
"Hi Mrs. Kazuko! Yeah, like a little angel!" Lucy giggled softly, clasping hands behind her waist. "Uhm... I dunno if she knows or not... she was really really grumpy earlier tonight, and when she woke me up a little while ago, she was kinda freaked out. She said she was having nightmares, and she was really shaky... I was able to calm her down and put her in my bed, and that's when I felt those bumps!" Lucy reached up to idly twirl the tip of her ponytail, "Is she gonna be okay...? She's been pushing herself a lot lately, and I could tell she was getting sick... but that wouldn't cause that, would it?"

"Hahaha. Jokes." She took the knife and began to cut at the bindings, carefully of course. At last she made a cut and began to peel them off her chest and dropping the knife on the table. "God-" She continued to unravel the bindings off herself. Once she was done, she relaxed in her chair , leaning back and leaving her shirt and jacket open. She still wore her undergarments, probably what had caused her ailment.
"Much better...." Nora sighed.

"I see, So this has been going for a while? " Seijin commented idly, her finger tips tapping her chin. She wasn't sure what exactly to tell Lucy. Instead the teacher decided to be honest," I can't say. She might just be sick from stress, but... It might be her cards stirring. When she uses them she grows wings right? " The teacher went and put her hand to the place in Lucy's back where wings would usually grow on Maria,"But you say the bumps are here." She moved her finger.
