"Hey, be nice!" Thackery protested, catching the gesture. He bent down to kiss his finger and eyed him sternly. "We've gotta be friends if we're gonna make it to..."

Well, he had no idea where they were going.

But thinking of it reminded him that he should be going through doors again, so he wandered towards a particularly shiny door and tugged it open.

He missed his attack. Mister raven did not.

"UNFAIR." Kettil cried out. The raven just cackled.

The light hurt Thackery's eyes (left more than right, for some odd reason), and he held his hand up to shield himself from it, moving to back out of the door. But the sound of scattered applause met his ears, and as his eyes adjusted he realized he was standing on a stage.

And they were here to see him.

He stepped forward again. Did he have to leave this place? He didn't ever want to leave here, where all of the attention was on him, and even though he didn't remember his name, that statue guy sure did say a lot of good things about him.

For several short moments he looked at the crowd - or what he could see of them, at least - and smiled at every one of them. He still couldn't believe that they were here to see him!

See him...do...what.

It's time for...KITSUNE TRIVIA.

The scattered applause was even thinner, but Thackery was no less encouraged than he had been before. He was here and it was kitsune facts and--

He didn't ask where that voice was coming from, or what was happening, because he didn't care; this was all about him now! This was one of his favorite things to talk about! This was perfect!

We'll start at the tail and work our way up! What is the maximum number of tails that a kitsune might have before it is considered a rarity?

"Three!" he piped up, clapping his hands together. "Four is really rare!"

Correct! And how many tails would a kitsune have when it is considered royalty?

"Nine!" These were easy!

Correct! There is an object that a kitsune would consider to be 'part' of them. They would face dire consequences if it were lost or stolen. What is this object?

"Their mask! A kitsune mask!" He was almost hopping up and down with excitement.

Correct! One last question to confirm your knowledge: what part of a kitsune can gradually change color over time?

"Eyes!" He exuberantly answered, thinking of Remi.

The voice didn't even have to say he was right this time. The audience already knew. Everyone already knew. Little bits of paper came raining down on his head, and the statuethings in front of him were giving him a standing ovation, amazed by his excellence.

Someone placed a crown on his head, plastic and violet and black, and extended a key towards him. He slipped the key off of the trophy and sighed a happy little sigh, reaching up to touch his crown.

Yeah, this felt right.

Violet and crowns and keys and adoration.

Once he started to feel his muscles relax once more, he rocked back and forth until he finally sat up. Lowering his face he kissed Thackery lightly on his forehead. "Thanks for caring, babe." He grinned once more, turning his head towards Efflo. "Nice moves, maybe i should call you Gracie. Short for Graceful."

Always teasing.

Standing there for a second longer he reluctantly let Thackery go, eying one of the doors once again. He followed after him, curiously.

This time eh entered... and found himself on a stage? The lights blinded him at first, he paused blinking. The fact he stopped gathered a few odd looks from the audience. It was only when the guy started to announce him that he found himself being pulled forward.

An act? He was supposed to do an a-

Then it came to him, he knew what he was good at. Illusions, that was his specialty.

So he stayed on stage, putting on his best cocky grin. Thinking back to the gargoyles and what they liked...

He illusioned a (hopefully male and female?) Gargoyle, and made them both do sexydances for the audience.

Apparently they tossed the key at him for it, awesome.

Kettil bonked it on the head as hard as he could. The Raven reeled for a second. Now it was Kettil's turn to cackle.

They exchanged one last hit and then the raven died leaving behind the key. Kettil snatched it up and then strutted out. Clothed or not he just kicked a insanity raven's a**.

"HOOTER!" Freya popped out of the room just in time to find him looking a little victorious, and holding a gold key. "Looks, I gots one too!" She held out her key, wiggling it triumphantly. Then she whispered into his ear. "Let's go sticks it in the locks."

Kettil let out a cheer, "Good job, darlin'!" he coo'd at her as he leaned to kiss her forehead but paused midkiss as a bit of a flush built over his skin. Oh my.

"Yes...Let's," He grinned at her and gave her a bit of a wink. He took her by the hand and lead her to where there needed some keys to be inserted. He put his key in.

Efflo groaned, of course it would be them. He didn't want to stick anything anywhere with them, especially not with Kettil still being naked. He scooted as far away as he could, carefully inserting his own key on the opposite end. After all, he didn't have key protection, and he didn't want the key to catch anything unpleasant and have to take it to the key doctor for a test.

Remi, crown still on head from the stage, inserted his key into the hole. Geeze okay.

"Hello, I know kitsune facts!" Thackery exclaimed, bounding out of the shiny door. He just managed to slow his momentum before he might have crashed into Remi, but thankfully did not ruin any key insertion. It might have been unpleasant, after all, for it to be jammed in there instead of carefully pushing it in.

"Oh...wow, they gave you a crown too! Like a real king and queen! Yay!" He reached up and poked at his crown, laughing cheerfully.

4th floor
To reach the fourth floor, you must have the keys to open the locked door:

The Fourth Floor

A black door emitting tortured screams.

You learn a new thing about yourself: if this were a survival horror scenario, you'd likely be among the first to die. The chamber is aggressively dim despite the multitude of torches that attempt to light it. However, you're perfectly able to see the impressive array of torture devices and instruments of pain that litter the room. It's a bit of a mess really.

A pained cry comes from somewhere in the clutter, "I'm here! It's me, Bloodraine! I was just...cleaning my beloved maiden, and she swallowed me whole." A dreamy sigh followed by a whimper of pain follow. "C-could you be a bro-lder and help me out?"

You've lost count of how many glinting spikes and blades are waiting eagerly to maim you.

"I'll make it worth your while?"

To find Bloodraine

Collect 3 clues!
Roll 1d10
1: you narrowly miss a pendulum blade
2: you notice fresh gravel on the floor, you've found a CLUE
3: you fall into a pit of spikes, causing you to lose a fourth of your full health
4: you narrowly miss getting a hot poker in your eye
5: you notice that a rack it suspiciously splintered, you've found a CLUE
6: you lean against a wall, which flips over, dropping you into a pit full of broken glass, causing you to lose a fourth of your full health
7: you nearly sit on a spiked chair
8: you get caught in a stockade, it's somewhat embarrassing
9: you shout, "MARCO!" and Bloodraine shouts back, "WHAT?" You've found a CLUE
10: rocks fall and you die

When you finally find the iron maiden and get Bloodraine out, the gargoyle is blushing in a mildly disturbing way. "Thanks! S-sometimes she gets really affectionate, especially when I start to polish her...you know...hinges." It giggles and then gropes around the inside of the torture device, eventually pulling out a black key that's only slightly moist.

A black door with gentle light shining at its base.

Writing Prompt:

The door opens and you're greeted with the somewhat dismal view of purple sky and lilac clouds. A huge window takes up nearly an entire wall, but it's a bit wasted on the island's total lack of landscape. Sitting slumped on a stool, a slumped gargoyle sighs, "Not much to see today, I'm afraid." It looks away from the window and over to you, perking up slightly, "Oh...oh you're new here, aren't you? You've...you've been places right? Seen things?" Leaning forward, eager now, it continues, "Say do you think you could share some of them with me? You won't be sorry, I promise! Just come over to the window and touch it!"

Once you make contact with the window it shimmers and snaps into a new size and shape, a familiar one. Outside, the scenery has changed to a window view you once had in your former life. It could be a view you cherished, or one you took for granted, or even one you loathed. Beside you, the gargoyle sighs happily at the sight. "That's marvelous, I never get to see anything like that. I think I'll keep this one for a little while, thank you!"

Carefully it places a black key into the palm of your hand before turning back to the window.

A blue door, you can hear a voice much like your own talking behind it.

The inside of the room is filled with fog and whispers. Near the center you find the mirror, a soft glow pulsing within it. The mirror cracks and shatters, the fog around it taking on a more humanoid shape. Before you stands another version of yourself, one that had awoken out of the fog of Insanity without memory or a true name.

The fog dissipates with the final blow, leaving you clutching the glowing core of the other. Within moments it shrinks down into a blue key.

They’ve reached the fourth floor and three doors greeted them again. Efflo decided quickly to avoid the one that sounded like it was getting murdered, and he went for the middle on instead. It seemed relatively safe…

The door leads to a small room with a window that was nearly bigger than its entirety. A gargoyle sat beside it on a stool, looking dismayed at the view it provided. As Efflo pushed open the door, it looked up, its expression changing from gloominess to one of excitement. Efflo didn’t know how he was supposed to share the things he had seen and he didn’t entirely trust the gargoyle not to toss him out the window, but a black key glinted in its hand and Efflo sighed; he needed that.

He stepped forward, and touched the sill of the window gently. The image of it crackled and it shaped into something new, something familiar. It was the view from his bedroom window, the wooden shutters pushed open to the summer air. Rain pattered against them in a soothing rhythm and he sat on his bed, watching as the overcast sky shifted with swirling clouds. He would much rather be out there, Efflo felt, than stuck in a room looking out, but nonetheless the view was pretty, the water making everything green and shiny and bright. The gargoyle besided him sighed, and commended him on the view before placing the key into his hand.

Efflo lingered for a moment, wondering if he would ever see that view again before he too sighed, turning on his heel and returning to the main room.

As they made it through to the next level, Freya heard a voice that she'd only heard once before. And it confused her, because that person no longer existed.

So she let go of Kettil, and wandered over to the door whispering her name. She opened it, and stepped inside.

"Yeh don't exists."

The figure in front of her looked like her, but she was cloaked in grey, completely colorless, and less haunting in shape than Freya herself. She stood taller, hautier, as if under the assumption she was better than her counterpart. Which she most definitely thought she was.

"No, screechie. You're the one who shouldn't exist." Nega Freya rolled her eyes, moving forward to reach out for her. "I've been watching you, you know."

Freya brushed the hand that touched her away. "Yeh haven't been-"

"And I'm sick to my stomach. Literally, just.. I could throw up. Hah, but I guess that's nothing new for you, is it screechie? You're ready to throw up right now, aren't you?" Nega Freya's hands ghosted over Freya's stomach, triggering sensations that reminded her of a phantom, invisible scar. "Right there."

Freya slapped the figure away, and summoned her weapon, her fingers trembling as she tried to string the arrow, and failed.

"GETS AWAY FROM ME!" Freya's bow was strung now, and her arrows were flying freely, but every time she stepped back to try and fight her other self, it came closer. In it's hands, a familiar set of guns formed.

"Maybe it's YOU who should get away from ME, b***h!" Nega Freya screamed, letting loose a volley of bullets that sank into Freya's skin.
