Liana - Setting up her stall 4 1/4 marks
Liana claimed her stall, paid the fee for it, and started setting out the various pastries and treats she'd prepared ahead of time. The bubblies were of course not done ahead of time, since half the fun was getting them hot and still bubbling. But those had been prepared and were ready to go into the small oven she'd set up, and as soon as she started arranging her wares she slipped a tray of pies into the oven to bake. Before long the sweet scent of baking berry pies wafted around the stall.
Most of the other foods were quickly arranged, but one took a bit more work. Her papercakes were made to order, so she made sure the griddle was good and hot and that she had plenty of the batter and fillings. She cast her eye over the preparations, then decided a hint at her most exotic treats might drum up a little more business. Turning to the griddle, she spooned on ladle-full of batter, then deftly swirled it around until it formed a thin cake that swiftly cooked through. She let that cook briefly, then carefully flipped it over to let the other side brown before sliding it onto a plate. She arranged some cut berries and sweet cream in a line down the center before folding over the sides into a loose roll. She finished it off with a sprinkle of powdered sugar and a half strawberry on the top before setting it out next to the sign advertising her Stuffed Papercakes. Then she stood back to survey the crowd.
...Oh, not quite yet. She checked in on the bubbly pies, saw they were nicely browned and bubbling, and set out the first tray of them beside her other wares. She held off on baking another batch until she saw how fast this one went, and resumed her crowdwatching.

Valeska – Snake Splat 4 & 3/4 marks
Since she’d struck out at the first game, she might as well move on to the next in line. This one was at least somewhat skill-based… Valeska handed over her eighth-mark and picked up the bat, realizing just how silly she must look, but – wouldn’t it be nice to have a firelizard? She’d have to win the top score to get it, but she had the hand-eye coordination, it couldn’t be that hard to beat the current score!
She eyeballed the tube, squared up her stance, and took aim. Unfortunately, her first performance was miserable - the game moved faster than she was anticipating, and she only managed to hit four of them.
Ellanfer – Vakus’ Stall 5 marks
“He is,” Ellanfer replied with a warm smile, “but don’t tell him that too loudly, it’ll go to his head!” Ellansk snorted good-naturedly at her and she scratched his eyeridges. “Yours is beautiful, too. And black is a good choice – it will set off her hide nicely.” When in doubt, break the ice by being friendly and offering compliments, right? And it was useful to leave a good impression on goldhandlers especially – for all the Revolution’s claims of being equal across all colors, golds would always have the natural advantages of size and fertility.
With a slightly resigned look she pulled out her marks pouch and recounted the fraction coins within, doing a bit of mental math and gauging how much she was willing to pay. While she was occupied with that, Ellansk made himself busy returning the nudge by pushing his own muzzle against hers.
“I’m no hero of the Revolution, but would three marks be enough to get me a saddle with those flying straps? I’ve never been flying with Ellansk before, but you never know.”

TawnyAngel Lucky DipNext up was Canoake, and when the red token came out the old man laughed and shook his head. "Well, aren't you the lucky one? A red token is a firelizard egg miss! You can choose from these ones here." The old man gestured to three eggs in pots of sand. They were: a small dark brown one with white stripes, a small dark blue one fading paler at the base, and a small black one with a white zig-zag line around the middle. [[Naree, you are free to choose your egg now! Please say whether you will keep, or sell on IC]] ((Keeping the egg)) Canoake looked at the 3 eggs and sent an image to Tatath. The green mused for a moment and then replied to her rider. I like the one with that is black and white. Pick that one."I think, I would like the small black egg with zigzag. How nice to have one such an egg. Do you have a jar and sand for me to put it in?" Canoake was pleased to have gotten an egg so easily. She had been tempted off and on to get a flit of her own, having been charmed by those creatures who had been trained properly.
Waiting patiently to gather her egg, she began to look around for anyone she knew to be familiar. While she didn't necessarily have friends, she did enjoy gossiping and talking with others.

Anali - T'arn's Stall5 marksWherholder gathers were comparable, in most ways, to the usual Weyr gathers, it seemed, although with significantly more weapons on offer than Anali was used to. Times were what times were, however, so it wasn't surprising. One thing that was taking some getting used to was that she wasn't important anymore, wasn't dining at a separate table or being fussed over by attentive vendors...nor did she have as many marks to spend as she once had. None of this was a problem, just among the many adjustments made to her life since she'd joined the Revolutionists. Having to regulate her gather spending was far from a terrible imposition. She planned to stick to practical purchases, for that reason as well as for appearance's sake. She would not allow herself to be labeled a vain or silly goldrider. To that end, purchasing a weapon seemed wise. The once-pampered former denizen of Telgar hadn't enjoyed her recent brushes with combat, an area in which she could use any help she could get. Not to mention a better weapon! She was leery of the whips she'd noticed some preferred, as the risk of self-harm in the hands of someone as unpracticed as herself gave her more than a little pause. Knives she was slightly more comfortable with, inasmuch as she was comfortable with close combat, which was to say not very. Her search for something different first took her past a smith selling brass knuckles, but those were out of the question. Use of those would entail very close combat, which she would prefer to avoid. It was when she found a greenrider selling arrowheads that she finally paused. Well, well. There was an idea! The very tip of one, anyway. "Good gather to you, sir," she offered by way of greeting, inclining her head politely. "What can you tell me about those arrowheads of yours? I've not had much experience with archery, but I find myself...increasingly intrigued by its applications." Celandine - Lucky Dip4 5/8 marksDelicate Celandine was surprised and thrown slightly off-balance by the shoulder-clap, but was all too happy for the attention. He was older, and a rider, but neither of those things was bad, necessarily. She smiled at him and pushed her hair behind her ear. "Why, thank you," she replied before he made his exit. "I hope you enjoy the rest of the gather." The bluehandler waited as patiently as she was able for the other winner to select her egg, giddy with anticipation: not for a soon-to-hatch flit, but for the marks she might be able to make selling the egg. Then maybe she could get something really nice! When it was her turn, she decided, "I'd like the blue one, please, sir." ((Celandine will sell her egg IC :3.))

Ja'kki - Snake Smash Marks: 4 7/8th
She snerked and patted Kr'stof on the back. "That was terrible. I think you're supposed to hit them. Try again!" Ja'kki watched the approach of a new contender with a guarded look, feeling possessive of her friend - and her high score. Her bright grin returned quick enough as the woman failed repeatedly at smacking the 'snakes'. She did at least manage to one up Kr'stof.
Rilli - Vakus's Stall Marks: 5 - 1 3/4 (for future payment)
Rilli whistled appreciatively. "I'll be sure t'get him here then! That sounds like an excellent deal!" For that price, even if it wasn't as well made as the one on display she couldn't really complain. If it was well then she's certainly spread the word. She wasn't the only handler she knew who rode their whers. It wasn't as pleasant guarding a tithing caravan if you had to walk the whole way, not that she was doing much of that nowadays. "Th'name's Rilli. I'll meet ya here day after tomorrow. Could we make it evening? Risk might be a bit more cooperative around then."
Sasar - Leaving Peya's stall Marks: 4 1/2th
Sasar's smile pulled a little wider, returning Peya's firm grip with a squeeze of his own. "If you are, I'll see to it you have more business. You won't go unappreciated." He left his meaning open to interpretation. If she was smart, and he would assume she was, she might catch the invitation. Subtlty was not his strong point but compared with some of the simpering and word play of the others vying for her attention, he felt he pulled it off rather well.
Feeling proud, and with an extra boost to his confidence, Sasar nodded a salute to the Craftswoman and took his leave of her. His new weapons were tucked into his pockets. He shouldn't be needing them today.

Mokah - Peya's stall 5 marks
Ah, a Gather. After the various fighting, the treacherous poisoning, and other assorted excitement, a Gather was just what Mokah needed to unwind. Since it started during the day, Mokask naturally had to stay home at Malvren...though after wandering around a bit, she noticed some whers wandered around with tinted glass goggles. That might be a useful thing to invest in someday, though a quick look around the place proved that none were for sale today. Pity, that. Some other goods for sale looked tempting, not least of which was the wher saddle. But she doubted her wher would tolerate one, and she had no real need of one anyway.
The knives, on the other hand, had a lot of potential. You could always use a good blade, and maybe if she had one then she could stand and fight next time she was confronted on a mission instead of having to turn tail and run. Granted the odds had been against her on the mine mission and she'd gotten away anyway, but still. She headed over to the Mastersmith's stall, giving the woman a smile before examining the items on display.
There were some perfectly serviceable plain knives for sale, but the fancier ones really caught the eye. Specifically the ones decorated with fearsome brass wher heads on the grip, complete with red gems for eyes. There were other fancy daggers, which looked to be bone hilts with feline heads, but a wher truly suited her. She admired the fine detail on the dagger a moment more before turning toward the smith. "Pardon me, how much is one of these?" she asked, indicating the fancy daggers. "And may I pick one up for a closer look?"

Ralla - Peya's Stall 7 marks
Ralla was pleased by the selection of goods on offer; she'd feared it would be the usual gather fair of fancy clothes, overpriced wine, and more ribbons than anyone could possibly have a use for (considering there were very few uses for ribbons in the first place). Even with the understandable emphasis on items geared towards whers and their handlers, there were a number of promising options on which to spend her marks. Some vendors, in particular the leatherworker selling wher saddles, looked quite busy. She'd have to wait a bit before heading that way, but in the meantime, she'd pay a visit to the smith.
...the smith whose hair was downright impressive. Even Ralla, who wasn't one to place importance on appearance, couldn't help but notice hair like that. Once that remarkable feature had been noted, however, she went right back to studying the woman's crafted wares. "Your daggers, ma'am, is there any difference between these and these?" she asked, indicating the simple and fancy ones in turn. "Besides the obvious, that is. I'm more interested in the quality and make of a weapon than its ornamentation."

Kr'stof Marks: 4 7/8
"When it comes to brute strength," said the greenrider mournfully to both women. "I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool." His competition received a cursory polite nod before Kr'stof scooted forward and all but draped across Ja'kki's shoulders. "We all know I'm only around for my pretty face, my sweet pastry. Surely you've some other things to plan outside of wooing this young girl.
"Who is lovely, might I add," he hastened to point in, shooting the stall keeper a ruefull smile. "But, alas~ Our fates, precious, the stars, not aligned, ecetera, ecetera. I will make sure to send my darling back to you but! Meantime, Ja'kki. We can hunt for our brother and sister and drown you with delightful things. Yes? Double yes? Shaff yes?"

Canoake- Wandering
Egg secured, Canoake began her wanderings again. She still had most of her marks and was pleased with her luck. There were so many folks about that she was now torn between heading towards the entertainment or moving towards the goods. She let her feet do the walking and eventually made her way towards two booths.
One was selling daggers and other small weapons. The other was selling furs. Lovely, pretty furs that tugged at Canoake. Especially the cloudy looking one. Slowly, she moved closer to G'nar's stall though the flash of metal was tempting as well.
"Decisions, decisions," she mused outloud.

Toska - Killian's Stall 4 3/4 marks
"You're too kind."
Toska's smile was warm as Killian topped off her cup, and she took a long draft. The vintner had been nothing but patient with her, but Toska couldn't help feeling like she was wasting Killian's time somewhat. Still, she was a paying customer. She would finish her drink, return Killian's cup, and then head off.
Bored.
Be patient.
What's over there? Tosk's attention had turned in the direction of the leathercrafter's stall, and the gold was cocking her head from side to side, investigating it with what little field of vision she had in the lighter hours. Toska followed her gaze, catching sight of several whers and looking down at Tosk.
"Looks like a gathering of some kind. That gentleman is selling saddles, I think."
For runners?
"For whers, probably."
Oh. Thoughtful lapse into quiet as Tosk considered the possibility. Then she snorted, lapped up the last of her water, and plopped down on the ground, curling up like a runnerbeast. Tosk doesn't want a saddle.
"I know. You want a collar. I'll see what I can get you, beautiful." She took another long draught of wine. A few more sips, and Toska would be done. She reached down and patted Tosk's head affectionately. "You're being very patient."
Bored, Tosk answered. Toska sighed and drained her drink, then set the cup down on the counter and smiled at the vintner.
"Thank you again," she said to Killian. "I think I'll be off before this one starts making trouble."
Going somewhere? Tosk was brightening already, the gold getting to her feet and looking around excitedly. Toska sighed and patted her roughly on the neck.
"Yeah. Yeah we are. Let's go, you."

G'nar
G'nar smoothed out the pelts again, a couple of people had looked at them but had passed them by, he'd glared at a couple of children already that had come close to his pelts with their sticky fingers and faces obviously having enjoyed bubbly pies. He lifted the greyish one and moved it so that people could see all five of his pelts, He'd been pleased with these ones, Jareth had made fairly clean kills too, most of the wounds had been to the underbelly and to the head of the felines, which thankfully didn't really affect the pelts once he'd skinned them and Jareth had good meals with each hunt.
"C'mon! Git yer fine pelts here!" he called out, not really needing to lift his voice too much, it carried easily without having to shout too much.

S'aak - Liana's Stall 4 1/2 marks
Now then. He had blown far more on the silly games than by rights he should have, and he wasn't quite sure where to go next. The atmosphere was out in full force, heady and exciting, and S'aak was catching sight of whers along with the people moving between stalls. He liked that. If he could have brought his bondmate along, he would have. As it was, he could feel Anferth's presence in the back of his mind, the brown cheerfully observing the festivities in his own way.
The smell of food was intoxicating. All it took was a single hint of onion, and S'aak's stomach growled. Laughing to himself, the brownrider shook his head and followed his nose. He found himself at a stall manned by a woman in crimsonrider's knots, and he leaned on her counter, glancing over the wares she had to offer. "Something smells amazing," he told the young woman, flashing her a vibrant smile. "Possibly everything. Are you open yet, or still setting up?"

Liana - Liana's stall 4 1/4 marks There was quite a bit of bustle at this Gather. Not surprising since it was the first one the Wherholds had held since the Revolution, and Gathers in general tended to be busy things. This one had more whers in evidence than most, which was rather surprising for a daytime event, even with the tinted goggled some of them appeared to be wearing. Clever idea that, whoever had come up with them. She divided her time between watching the passers-by and shooing the occasional fly away from her goods until someone stepped up to her stall. Ah, a potential customer! She smiled at the man who'd complemented the scent of her cooking. "I am most certainly open," she assured him. "Anything in particular caught you eye? Or rather, your nose," she added with a grin. "They're all baked fresh today, and I can heat up anything if you'd like."

Dinah - Peya's Stall 1/2 mark
After a short detour to deposit her purchases back in her room - causing Dinsk to shriek displeasure at her as she did so - Dinah returned to the gather, and the business of shopping. Not that she had much left to shop with, after buying both the armor and the boots. In addition to being badass, she was going to look badass next time she did any fighting on behalf of the Wherholds (or herself), and that was certainly worth the extra mark.
It did, however, mean that she was down to half a mark, and there likely wasn't much left that she could afford other than some food or wine. Still, it wouldn't hurt to have a look at the weapons available. Even a simple dagger would likely be too expensive, and besides, hers was still eprfectly servicable. The brass knuckles, though...
"Those could break some faces," she noted cheerfully. "How much for those?"

T’arn – At His Stall 4 & 1/2 marks
T’arn had arrived early at the gather, carefully covered his stall with a crisp white tablecloth and laid out his goods to best effect, hopefully the better to catch the eye. He had no particular interest in competing directly with Mastersmith Peya – he bowed to the woman’s greater expertise in the field of weaponry, whereas T’arn’s specialty lay firmly in the creation and care of small intricate items. But hopefully a few people would be interested in the items he had to offer.
And here came his first customer! An auspicious start, too, even if she was interested in the only martial item that T'arn had brought along. Pity, that. But that was why he had brought the arrowheads - even if T'arn didn't use them, he respected those who did fight for the cause. “Good gather to you, goldrider!” He smiled up at her, brushing a few tiny beaded braids back behind one ear. “I’d be happy to answer whatever questions you have – you’re welcome to examine them more closely if you like, although please be careful, they’re quite sharp.” He carefully laid out one of each type on the table for her to inspect.
“The main advantage of metal arrowheads over stone is that they’re less brittle,” he explained. “If you’re using an obsidian point you can get a slightly sharper edge, but it’s liable to shatter on impact – even if you retrieve it there’s little possibility of reuse. As you can see, I’ve got two types here, a standard bodkin…” He touched the short, rigid spikelike point. “And a larger broadhead.” He touched the wicked-looking, four-sided larger point with its barbed base. “The broadhead is specifically designed to be used with a longbow and a heavier shaft, for use against… nonhuman opponents.”
