The letter came in and he managed to get it first, tearing into the envelope. He had passed. Of course he had.

"Mom! I have to show you this, look I've been learning to use my fear." the festibles would be soon but he was home and excited to show her what he had worked on while he was gone. Fireballs, stronger and more solid, danced around him and he grinned at her, playing.
"Very good." said his mum setting down some tea.
"You've grown."

Strong arms wrapped around him, and pulled him away. the dog was shoved off and he relaxed as fire danced around them. "Mom..."

Anticipation ran through him. Fireworks. The fire celebrations always had the best fireworks. His tail curled around himself as he settled, leaning on his mum in a growingly more rare act of affection.

A kiss and stairs. But the kiss was more important. Blue eyes and a smile, along with red cheeks. He ran up the stairs.

A memory he'd rather forget. That fox, Molan standing right next to her, and him unable to get near. It was strong and bitter and he didn't want it anymore.

He was searching for something. for what he couldn't remember but he was searching. A familiar face perhaps.
