Marlin's pace stumbled to a halt as the trail that he'd been following suddenly seemed to stop - at a wall. The alternative was to believe that they had somehow disappeared into the wall, but Marlin was loathe to believe that - besides none of the people who been at the dinner table had mentioned anything about ghosts or the place being haunted.

"No you're not" he said, shaking his head at Darren's question as he walked over to have his own look at the wall, to see if there was anything odd about it or whether alternatively the one who they'd been attempted to pursue may have somehow gone over it somehow.

A little poking and prodding reveals a partially-open secret door! Just barely visible at the end of the straight hallway within is another opened passage...

At the end of the passage is a second door, this one wide open – it seems that the killer is still a few steps ahead!

But only a few steps…because on the other side, two raised voices can be heard, and thumps and crashes indicate a struggle going on - the door opens into Minerva Logan’s room, where she and Alice are struggling!

Yes, Alice Logan is still alive…and one of them, Alice or Minerva, must be the killer!

Making it down the hallway, had been easy enough, and reaching the second door, Darren wasn't sure how to process what he was seeing. Alice had been dead - but obviously faked - and now either she or Minerva were obviously the killer. Minerva had always been "unwell" mentally, but that didn't neccessarily make her a killer.

But Alice could have faked her death to throw the killer off her trail so she could catch them.

He knew he didn't have long to think, so he quickly charged into the room and attempted to get between Minerva and Alice, more to the point of getting them separated.

It was risky - he could die...

But sometimes you had to stick your neck out - there had been enough killing this weekend.

It had taken a bit of poking, but finally a partially open door had been discovered in the wall, with a secret passage leading inwards towards the door.

Marlin had been second down the passageway, Darren somewhat faster than him down the revealed secret passage.

He'd gotten the shock of his life however when he'd reached the other end and the source of the arguing voices - because heck Alice Logan was supposed to be dead.

Darren it seemed was trying to get in between them and Marlin knew that he had to make a decision. Going with his gut he tried to tackle Alice Logan, hoping as he did so that he was making the right decision.

Hafwen wasn't really sure as to what to think at the sight that was now before her. Alice was technically supposed to be dead, but here she was fighting with her mother Minerva. Wasn't this supposed to be an obvious flouting of the rules? Unless... her death was staged, yet for what intent? So that she could go after the real killer or was it on the contrary that she could continue killing without drawing attention to herself instead?

And then there still remained the issue as to just how sane or insane Minerva was letting them onto. Was she mad enough to go on a killing rampage?

There really wasn't much time to flounder about so she tossed all caution to the wind and opted to assist Marlin in pinning Alice to the ground.

The shouts and voices had drawn him to one of the bedrooms, but once he got there Arian had found himself staring at the scene in front of him with a bewildered look on his face. Was that really Alice Logan he was seeing and wasn't she supposed to be supposed to be well dead.

Arian wasn't sure what he should be doing, but he knew enough to know that standing staring wasn't it. The curly blue-haired girl who was one of the fellow guests was assisting a strawberry-blonde haired guy in trying to pin the apparently not so dead Alice to the ground, while a dark-haired guy was in between Alice and Minerva.

After a slight hesitation Arian opted to try and opt and help the dark-haired guy (Darren) - he recognised him as a fellow guest - and besides two people already seemed to be tackling Alice.

Mayhaps between them all it would be enough to stop whatever had been going down and then they could all (hopefully) get some answers.

"Get off me!" Alice shouted, flailing her arms. "It's her! She killed Lillie, I saw her do it, and she's killing everyone else too! I-I staged my death to throw her off!"

"No, no, no, she's lying, and we mustn't lie, Alice, you've always been such a liar..." Minerva rocked back and forth, arms wrapped around herself and body shaking. "I don't know when you became so violent though, drugging your father and putting him in the closet, no no, bad girl..."

Darren didn't buy it - not from Minerva anyway. Alice was far to stable and she'd already sown the seeds of doubt for him. "Let Alice up," Darren said as he moved over to Minerva, crouching down and watching her for a second.

"So why did you kill Lillie, Minerva? Was it to protect the family's honor?"

He knew asking her this could set her off worse, but it was worth the risk.

Marlin hesitated at Alice's words, but let her up when Darren asked and nodded at Hafwen to do the same while looking warily between Alice and Minerva.

He wasn't sure what to believe at the moment - after he'd been pretty sure that Minerva was the killer, but the whole Alice resurrecting from the dead had thrown him pretty badly.

A thought occurred to him as he remembered that the person who had tried to kill Joseph Hall had had small feet and was in the process of trying to look at the feet of the two Logan women to see which of the two's feet were smaller, when Minerva's comment about her husband, drugs and the closet distracted him.

Eyes narrowing slightly he went back to seeing if he could see who had the smaller feet out of the two, content to let Darren ask the questions for now.

-----------------------------------------

Arian wasn't sure which of the two to believe, Yes Minerva had come across as strange - well okay really strange - especially the whole wandering around covered in her daughter's supposed blood, but strange didn't equate to being a killer.

And Alice - she was supposed to be dead. Had supposedly been either the fourth or fifth victim depending on whether Elsie had been died earlier but just discovered later.

He frowned as he looked at Alice - if her mother really was the killer then why didn't she try and tell anyone - wasn't one of the victims supposed to be Lillie's best friend or something.

He didn't say anything for the moment, opting to try and watch both woman, deciding to see how Minerva reacted to the question that been posed to her before trying to ask any questions of his own.

If one of the two tried something then he'd step in and try and stop it.

"I didn't kill Lillie, Lillie killed Lillie," Minerva replied, blinking slowly. "Mommy was there with her baby at the last, of course, but I didn't kill her."

"The basest kind of deception!" Alice screamed furiously. Even though she was overall smaller and slighter than her mother in every way, she still managed to put up a decent fight against Hawfen holding her down. "I watched her talk Lillie into the noose! Certainly Lillie hanged herself, by a technicality, but that woman put it around her neck!" Her voice lowered slightly in volume. "And I couldn't go to the police...they might not even listen, and if she went to jail, she would pay alone...and she wasn't the only one responsible...Someone had to make sure the rest of them were punished, too."

Darren frowned, turning his head toward Alice for a moment. "But what about the innocent lives, hm? I doubt very much her best friend would have wished death upon Lillie..."

Looking between the two women, it was hard to tell who was more telling the truth. The one who was - certifiably insane - or the one who had faked her own death.

"But you're telling me Alice - that everyone in this house was responsible for Lillie's Death?" He remembered her telling him about the scandal and how it had hurt Lillie so.

"What aren't you telling us Alice? Because right now it's mighty suspicious on both your ends. I'm inclined to trust that it was your mother, but you have to give me a good reason to."

Signs were pointing to Alice as much as Minerva - there had to be some clue, some final damning piece of evidence...

Arian was beginning to wonder whether both the Logans were the killers. Minerva seemed strange enough and her words suggested that she had been at the scene at least two people's deaths - Lillie and Elsie.

Something that Alice said occurred to him and he looked towards the struggling woman. "If you saw your Mother talking your sister into killing herself then why didn't you try to stop her." Especially given her talk about punishing the ones that had hurt Lillie.

-----------------------------------------

Marlin frowned as he listened to the long-haired kid (Arian) speak - he actually had a point. He'd also managed to look at both Alice and Minerva's feet and Alice's feet were definitely the smaller of the.

He looked between the two woman for a moment before deciding to take a chance on his next question. "Is the fact that you couldn't go to the police the reason why you took a baseball bat to Joseph Hall?" Marlin asked Alice. "Because he was one of the ones that hurt Lillie?"

Despite phrasing his words as a certainty, he still wasn't sure that Alice had been the one outside although he tried his best not to betray that fact.

He kept an eye on Alice, ready to step in if she got to be too much for Hafwen to handle alone - he wasn't ready to buy that she was innocent in all of this - not just yet.

"Everyone was responsible, yes...some less so than others, so they suffered less when judgement came." Alice didn't seem to fully realize what she was saying. "At first, I wasn't sure of what I was seeing...and by the time I was sure, Lillie had already stepped into the noose and it was too late..." She looked over at Arian, and then to Marlin, her face lighting up a little. "Yes, someone understands!" And then she suddenly frowned.

"Ah, and I've damned myself with my own words...Yes, I killed them, all of them. The ones least responsible first, so they suffered the least pain and fear. Hall and Mother were to be the last...but you saved them both, didn't you? Damnable do-gooders and interferers..."

Haley Jones

What a whirlwind of a weekend - Haley wasn't entirely sure what to make of it all. She had stayed mostly silent and to herself throughout the solving of this murder mystery. Her detective skills weren't that sharp at all, it seemed, which wasn't exactly news to the brunette. She had been trying to investigate whatever happened at the Carnival of Fate for weeks now and it took her forever to come up with any leads to that. Hell, she had even suspected Ricky at one point, although it soon became obvious that he was playing for her team, not an enemy. But as much as the weekend served as a reminder at how Haley needed to step up her game, it also served as a reminder of how great her allies could be - it seemed that everyone at the event was another Senshi or Knight, and if they were all able to come together to solve this, then perhaps Haley's optimism about the war was justified after all.

Ricky Cunningham

Ricky didn't quite follow the chain of events that happened this weekend. He was never the brightest bulb - it took him a while to realize that people weren't actually being killed in front of him all weekend long and that it was part of a game. And his realization came in the form of excessive mockery and explicitly being told as much by Haley. That was his self-esteem reducer for the weekend. He listened to Marlin, Arien, Darren and the others closely as they solved the crime. There were so many pieces to the puzzle - most of them that Ricky didn't even realize were pieces.

"Ya'll should be on like, television," Ricky commented to them. "On one of them crime shows. Ya know, CSI: Destiny City or some s**t. Ya'll are ********' smart." He was truly amazed by them - he wasn't able to keep up with them at all. That didn't mean he didn't try to follow along - although he was always three steps behind them. Thankfully, he eventually did come to the same conclusion that the others found. Unfortunately, however, it wasn't until after the conclusion had been confirmed, repeated, and commented on. Regardless, he got there.

And for that, the boy felt proud.

Jude hadn't spoken much, but he had at least taken notes; written down the story in his journal for later reference. Still baffled by the fact that he'd been here for it, he couldn't bring himself to speak to the woman, or to the rest of them -- in truth, it had been so surreal that he still wasn't sure how much of it had been real -- but at the very least, it was all a good story.

One he could study, maybe, and make something out of later...
