What a baby. She was also scared, but she wasn't sniffling like some scardy cat! She stood by Nyiim, close enough that she felt safe but not so close that it was totally obvious. She had slept with him the night before, so she trusted him. After all, if he would have woken up and went to kill her then there was no way that Ilyra wouldn't have woken up! That meant it had to be either Nuawahn or Shirin.

She looked between the two of them. Personally she thought it was Nuawahnm there was just something about him that she didn't like right from the start! She narrowed her eyes at the boy. And since Nyiim was questioning him that had to mean that he thought the same thing! She knew she could trust Nyiim.

Nyiim gracefully made no moves to assist the little Alkidike, but he would be lying to say he didn't have a soft spot for her gained while protecting her the night before.

If she had left, he would have woken up, wouldn't he have?

[[ Okay, since this went so well last time, I'm going to go sleep and leave behind a semi-futzed ic-ish vote. Nothing personal, of course! At this point, Nyiim and I suspect everyone. 8I
Nuawahn & Ilyra Good luck in surviving the night, everyone! <33 ]]

Nuawahn looked at Nyiim, confused.
Where did he wake up? What sort of question was that.
He pointed to a spot outside a tent. "Over there..." he said, confused, "Why?"
And... Why was everybody looking at him? He shifted uncomfortably under their gaze. Something was very, very wrong. Why did he feel he had to defend himself?
"They were telling stories around the fire and..." he swallowed a bit. The tension was increasing and he had the oddest feeling... "And they told me to go to sleep because the stories were gonna be for adults..." He looked around him at all their faces, trying to read them. Concern? Pity? Suspicion? Why were they looking at him like that? he couldn't think of any reason why they should pity or suspect. Suspect? Suspect him of what? Why?
"An' they wouldn't let me stay, even when I asked, and I was tired..."
Concern? Adults got concerned sometimes. But why of him? Ilyra- the alkidike girl he had sung with- was looking at him the strangest. Dislike. She didn't like him? Why? Why didn't she like him?
Why were they concerned? He started to get scared.
"Whats... Whats wrong?" he reached out a hand to touch Nyiim. Was the nice man okay?

Nyiim sighed, shaking his head.

"Nothing. Nothing's wrong," he responded, ruffling the boy's hair slightly. Some crazed mob was picking them all off, and he didn't like the idea of a youngling being hanged. "Stay by me, alright? We don't want anyone else being hurt."

As Nuawahn answered Nyiim's question, Shirin listened. She glanced briefly in the direction where the wind youngling pointed -- a little strange, though not conclusive. For the most part, her gaze traveled from person to person, alert for a clue, any clue.

Taking a seat, Shirin wrapped her arms around her knees. She still had such a hard time picturing any of them as a killer. Or killers, as Nyiim seemed to think was the case. Her gaze paused on the Leaf man and the Alkidike girl. Despite their different tribes, they seemed to share a certain rapport, which might be endearing in any other situation but this. But it didn't necessarily mean anything. She sank her chin on her knees for a moment, fingers trying to massage out the steady ache that had buried itself in her temples.

"I'm sure the truth will come out in the end, one way or another." Whether any given one of them would still be around to see justice done was another matter altogether, but Shirin was keeping her pessimism to herself. "For now, let's just all keep a low profile." She had no desire to see unfortunate Rayolun's experience repeated, even if a killer or two still lurked among the four.

As much as no one wanted to say what they were all thinking, it became clear that more and more people were becoming suspicious of Nuawahn. Sure he was a younling, but that didn't mean anything. If anything being a youngling could be how he thought that he would get away with it. It was the perfect alibi, but it only got him so far. Soon he was doomed, the angry mob of people took him away to be killed. Hopefully his death would be the last.

To Hang:
4 votes Nuawahn
1 vote Ilyra

For Wise:
3 Nyiim
1 Ilyra

This means that Nuawahn was killed. You may make one more post per character having them ending the day. They can worry about if they killed the right person, they can think about everything happening, whatever you'd like. But some how they fall asleep. The next round will start tomorrow at 10am EST.

Nuawahn could feel his breath catch in his throat as the tension grew. What was this, this thing he had never felt before? This hostility?
He was starting to get scared of the oppressive weight of attenion- BAD attention- on him. Scared of the whispers that sounded colder and crueler than any night on Sauti's peaks and anything he could have ever believed was possible for anybody or anything to achieve.
He drew closer to Nyiim, a man he trusted. He could feel his heartbeat rising into his throat. All the eyes were on him.

And then they came for him, their faces masks of darkened grimness and their hands... their hands...
Nuawahn shrunk back as a tide of hands gathered to grab him.

He knew what danger was.

He broke and ran, the mob streaming after him as he ducked into a tent and hid.

Hiding did nothing. The hands came and grabbed him, even as he tried to hold onto a tent pole. He was crying as they dragged him out, struggling.

He caught a glimpse of Nyiim and reached out in terror, trying to find any semblance of safety or security, before the crowd blocked out his view.

As the sun set on the small settlement and glinted off of the hair of the limp, hanging form of the little boy next to the poor shifter of the day before, perhaps a few of the mob knew in their hearts one reasurring thing.

Nuawahn forgave them.

What could he do? Nyiim screamed as the mob came, tried to get everyone out of the way, but what was the use? There were dozens of them, and only one of him.

"NO! NO! HE'S JUST A CHILD!"

Nobody else had to die. Suspicions did not mean guilt. But no, they took the boy and all he could do was scream. When it was over, he collapsed to the ground and held Ilyra a moment. It might have been her, it might have been Shirin... he didn't care. He didn't care any more. They all had to get out of this hell and forget this horror... but they never would, would they? Things like this didn't go away.

He just sat. He sat, and he wept, and he went still and silent, and he sat. It was hours before he crawled to the treeline and rolled over in exhaustion. Maybe he could catch someone sneaking through town, if he woke.

Maybe they'd just take him instead.

The mob had already rushed to one death. And now, right before Shirin's horrified eyes, they were rushing to another.

She stood, dazed for a moment, during the initial rush toward the youngling, but her attention snapped quickly back to the present. She had to bring them to their senses, and quickly. "Look, it doesn't have to be this way!" she pleaded, grabbing at an arm that simply batted her aside. She tried again. "Even if it's him, confine him. Set watch over him. The threat would be gone without blood on your hands. Please stop! Think things through!" She went on, unable to stop even as she recognized that the mob was well beyond the reach of words.

As the mad pounding of her heart drowned out all the voices, she saw the youngling race for cover. For a moment, hope sprang up. Perhaps he could hide. Perhaps he could run still further away while the others searched the tent. But the mob brought out a small, struggling form, too far away now to reach in time.

As Shirin retreated from the crowd at a graceless stumble, she was distantly aware of Ilyra and Nyiim, the latter in tears. For her part, she didn't think the shivers rattling her limbs would ever stop. And then there were three, she thought. She could say nothing to them. No words, of comfort or anything else, came to mind.

The idea of lockdown had seemed so reasonable at the outset. It should have been perfectly safe -- safer, certainly than leaving the village with a killer still on the prowl. How had it come to this? Her mind whirling with what-ifs and should-haves, she meant to stay awake, to keep watch over the living and hold a vigil of sorts for the dead. It wasn't as if a good night's rest had helped avert today's tragedy, right? Even so, sleep crept over her eventually.

Ilyra watched it all happen in horror. So she hadn't liked the young boy from the start, there had been just something about him that she couldn't stand, however she didn't want him to die. She looked at Nyiim as they took Nuawahn away, and it was soon that he was holding her and crying. She had never seen an adult cry before, and it was starting to really scare her. She held him back, looking once again at the angry mob and the hanging body of a boy not much older then her.

Not much older then her... Meaning they would do that to her the next day if they thought she was the killer. She wasn't going to be killed just because of her age, it seemed to them it didn't matter. "Their the monsters... Not whoever is killing at night... It's those who are killing during the day..." she muttered.

As she did the night before she crawled to where Nyiim was and curled up against him to fall asleep. "It will all be okay soon..." were the last things she said to Nyiim before falling asleep.

Soon after dark Ilyra woke up and looked at Nyiim. He was so sad after the little boy died, she feared that he would never be the same. With a frown and a nod of her head she knew what to do. Ilyra had to kill him, that was the only way for him to be happy again. And so she did. She killed him and hid the body better then she had before. After all, she didn't want any more deaths. She just wanted to go home.

The next day she went to see Shirin, and told her that Nyiim had left the night before. Soon the ban was lifted and everyone went their own way, thinking that the killer was dead. However little did they know, that the killer was running back to her home with a smile on her face.

It seems we have a tie! Ilyra was one of the hunters, and then Shirin was a traveler. So they both get two items that aren't battle or stats boosters. The others can all pick one. Post in here what it is that you would like and quote me. We are also raffling off the familiar between Ilyra and Shirin.

1. Ilyra
2. Shirin

Congrats, it seems that Shirin has won her very own Radaku! Please along with her items give us the name and sex of your new companion!
