And there was light, glorious light from everywhere at once.

Words were beyond him, slipping from his light filled mind, the pain of his shattering shield distant and indescribable.

He hit the sand.

His weapon was silent in his head, and vanished back into a wristwatch at his blood-soaked wrist.

The creatures swam in and out of focus, dropping and vanishing around him- they were beautiful. They were real. And the world could see.

He felt arms around him, but couldn't move. A familiar tie. A familiar weak chin. "Thanks.... Andy..." He managed to whisper before the light turned dark.

Wickett shifted Cecil to his shoulder.

"It's alright," he lied.

Grenzel gleamed a wicked green from his hand.

"Angel. It has been a very long day. The targets are above, you know. But if you'd like to pursue this venue, I am of course happy to accommodate you."

Angel had never listened to them, never understood or paid heed to the words they spoke. Which was why, even as the man calmly explained the true enemy she ignored it. She was protecting their maker. For whatever reason it seemed fitting to destroy what he didn't want to lose.

They took what was precious to her after all. Thus, the reaper jabbed again, quick and short until she managed to get through the man's rather solid defense. He wasn't like the normal humans. Made of something tougher, stronger, but she wouldn't give up. She rarely did. And finally found her target, a glancing blow, but enough to do some damage...

Sadly that would be one of her last acts as even a thing.

Name: A.o.D. (Angel)
Species: Valkyrie - Reaper
Short Description: Long unkempt straight blond hair, sparkling blue eyes, and an age between 14-15. At a glance she looks sweet and innocent and is in a likely now bloody white-ish gray long shirt with shorts. The shirt hangs lower than the shorts so they only matter if she's flying. Her wings are a white-grey color and weapon is a long golden spear. Her appearance earned her name. Her personality extended it.

Action: Attack
Target: Cecil
Roll Results: 3 (Due to defense)

It was always easier to blame the unknown, the lurking monsters that attacked relentlessly and chaotically, the Stephen King Eldritch abominations that turned on their master in a moment of lucidity and freedom -

- Yet, there was only one monster at the end of the book.

Just one, and it was a type of demon that Mr. Cecil, if he had any semblance of remaining consciousness, and the lingering Mr. Wickett would be very familiar with. White coats. Glowing weapons. Human.

Or perhaps, once human.

And there was only one that apprehended them. The creatures didn't even register as a threat, they simply moved purposely and deliberately until the figure stopped right in front of the two. Any caught in the way simply vanished in an almost untraceable movement, easily extinguished. Those that dissipated did not return.

The stranger remained expressionless, eyes flickering from the unconscious to the surviving defender, the silence lapsing into long seconds. And then, oddly enough, they smiled, strange and twisted. "Survivors, until the end, touching, almost. A short reign, and after you spent so much time waiting. What possibly could have transpired in your heads to defect so easily, to decrease your chance of survival on this single gamble and hope that you would win with such low stake and odds; it would be interesting to learn, but entirely unnecessary."

The outline of the scythe weapon was very clear, humming a brilliant blue-white as it descended up Mr. Wickett, the survivor-

- Dark blood splattered all directions, followed by a lifeless body falling forwards. If it was any saving grace for Mr. Cecil, it was at least, that it wouldn't hurt quite at all.

There was only one monster at the end of the book.

Looks like 1999 only has 3 survivors ... again. As the two are now very much dead, you may now proceed to the DEATH SOLO thread (or post your DEATH SOLO with reactions here). Enjoy!

EVERYONE ELSE (CREATURES): Perhaps the thought crosses your mind to attack the newcomers, despite the infighting going on or perhaps you just wanted to leave. Whatever the case you realize for once someone is hunting you and the last thing you see is the glow of several weapons now, figures wearing white descending upon you before you dissipate permanently.
- Feel free to write an ending post, like a mini monster death solo c:

Akiko watched as the two that had hurt them all so much was killed. She felt some satisfaction for it but then the looked back to where Irisa had been. She hurt too much to attack, hurt to much to flee. So when the hunters came she did nothing but kneel there right next to where her friend had dissipated. Ears pressed to her head, tails on the ground, not fighting, not even acknowledging the hunters. Didn't acknowledge the swing of a weapon. She was just glad that she wouldn't be hurt or hungry any more.

Caesar hadn't had a chance to meet the white coated humans. They were hardly his concern. The lumbering bigfoot had been mesmerized by the light. He'd barely been aware as he'd been hit, simple as he was, and had only smiled that large stupid smile of his.

It was all so.. Pretty..

Angel hadn't run. She'd been prepared to attack again, to end the lives of those who had made them the way they were. Yet that would never come, her crystal blue eyes shifted at the sound of steps, at the approach of the human. She didn't get out of it's way, instead trying to stop it, to keep it from HER prey. Her toys.

She was going to kill them. Not this... thing. Though she never once had a chance to attack. That almost omnipotent scythe was more than she'd ever known, far more dangerous than anything on the island. It came down, swift and true as she leapt. The girl never even had a chance to get close, her figure vanishing in a single swift motion as did any who got in the way of that man. He would have what he wanted, and she could enjoy death for all eternity as far as he cared it seemed. Because she wasn't anything worth noting. Perhaps she'd never been. But it didn't matter now.

Angel was gone, and she wouldn't return.

Throughout the island, the man in the black sweater with the glowing whip stalks through, clearing out nests of surviving creatures, his eyes often sliding to the lab buildings in the distance. He's trailed by a number of others in white coats who constantly break off to secure areas at his direction. Finally an SUV, a little battered pulls up, and a young man with a distinctly Asian cast opens the passenger side door with a pensive look.

"Caelius took out the two ex-hunters."

The older man gives him a pained look, "My life would be so much easier if Liam's boy would just do as he was told once in awhile."

"It's...well, Caelius, maybe you should have tried using reverse psychology?" At the look he receives he continues hurriedly, "And I can't find Mark. I tried tracking his pendant but it was in the water."

"Oh dear, I suppose Death Assist really is our Defense Against the Dark Arts position, isn't it?" The swarthy man chuckles as the other becomes more and more uncomfortable, both from the laughter and from pop culture references that are clear mismatch with his image of the other man. He's quiet until they reach a clearing where an obvious battle had been fought.

In the distance, the older man notices a figure staring out over the water's horizon, their posture proud, their hair blowing dramatically in the wind as yet another creature of myth and legend falls behind them, victim to a superior skill and strength.

He sighs and gets out of the vehicle.

"Cael, I distinctly remember telling you to leave the little frog alive. Now I have to rely entirely on his notes and whatever your scrub assistant gathered, if he's even still alive himself which is increasingly doubtful."

The fact that one of the former 1999 survivors had a head that was clearly detached from the body made it somewhat very easy for a doctor to figure out that the bodies were very much dead. While H indeed might have steady hands, if he had the miraculous power of stitching heads back onto bodies and reviving their souls from the afterlife then he really should reconsider his job and get working on that Godhood thing. Age could be and was, the greatest handicap after all to greatness.

The Death lead stepped on one of the bodies to make a point, staring at them with an unreadable expression. Fortunately, since H had been around his reign since conception, it was very easy to pick out that he was feigning annoyance with a sort of purposeful spite. "I am aware." Squish went Mr. Cecil's body. "I believe you mentioned yourself you would like the survivors alive, if convenient, and the situation was very much inconvenient. I apprehended purely on interest as to why the entire cavalry of the Life Division is here when the other divisions were so conveniently excluded, except for minimal efforts. While it was amusing to watch you clean up, I wonder if the thought has ever transpired in your head very, very recently of creating your personal empire at very minimal stakes. Convenience is best when concealed by urgency."

He gave H a very and pointed look, one that was often misinterpreted by the missing Death assistant as alpha wolf shipping feels.

The doctor's smile grew teeth as he bit out, "My dear Cael, I'm hurt that you would say such, what with your boy's key involvement in the proceedings. I believe a few of your people are also among the Shooting Stars," there pause a small pause so they could both sneer for a bit, "...ranged strike unit. So really, I don't see why you have to go about killing valuable resource out of petty speculation."

"Uh, about Mark, I still can't find him, and it's starting to look pretty bad..." Dwight was looking pleadingly at Caelius, which was about as super effective as one would guess.

"Besides," H continued, speaking over Dwight, "...this island already has the needed labs and equipment for carrying on this work. Why shouldn't I use it? What possible use could you have for this place other than killing things out of childish spite?"

Somewhere around the corner, a 10ft cube of ooze lurked. It might be stalking the hunters, lightly jiggling in place as it waited. Bubbles still hadn't had much of a chance to eat after all. Something had zipped past it a moment ago but it didn't pay that any mind.

Idly it wondered if it would start glowing if it ate one of those glowing weapons the people had. It must bide its time.

Dwight was pretty much ignored considering Mark's overall net value.

"I am sure my ignorance of your affairs is pretty convenient." The Death lead continued to judge. "Then since you already have summarized exactly how this situation has played out, I will continue killing out of childish spite instead of doing as told."

He finally dropped eye contact, leaning to roll over Wickett and then Cecil's bodies, examining their pockets first, and then any loose articles, in a routine, orderly fashion. A few seconds later, he looked up. "And they still have proved to be of valuable resources regardless, and, as you would say, of use."

A few lingering Hunters were feeling extremely awkward at this moment, so he made sure to stare right at them and reconfirm how out of place and useless they were.

"No need to have a tantrum, Cael," the doctor murmured indulgently. "Through yes, please do go occupy yourself if you refuse to be of further use in this venture." Turning to Dwight, he continued, "...have the ground units begin setting up their nets, the creatures as they call them should be respawning shortly, and I'd like to get them captured and taken to Deus before they can cause too much trouble."

He glanced over at the massive gelatinous cube...thing, and then proceeded to ignore it. Possibly he was hoping Caelius would mistake it for hairgel and stick his head inside of it. "Now.." he turned to look in the direction of Lab's A and B, "...as for the laboratories-"

He was cut off as the buildings were suddenly engulfed in flames, several other staff buildings exploding in the distance as well. The sight of it left the doctor's expression dangerously still.

"Yes, we've already taken care of them, Hunter," a sonorous female voice rang through the clearing. Several cloaked and hooded figures entered quietly, led by a tall woman with ebon skin and gold curling horns, her cloak a vibrant purple. "As much as the Boogeymen appreciate your willingness to take care of this....regrettable situation all by yourselves without informing us," she smiled, revealing several sets of shark-like teeth, "...we wouldn't to needlessly burden you with so much responsibility."

Another explosion bloomed in the distance, but none of the cloaked figures bothered glancing back at it. Even in Halloween, cool guys don't look at explosions. They do, however, shuffle aside to reveal another figure, clothed in a tattered red cloak that billows dramatically in the wind.

A soft chuckle accompanied her as she approached, the figure clad in black, gold, and red stopping halfway between the two forces. "My, my. Aren't you two as busy as ever?" Red cooed with vibrant eyes. "I suppose a thank you is in order. It has been far too long since we have had an opportunity to assist you like this. And this place!" She threw her hands up, indicating the island. "The remote location! The Fear! Why, it's almost enough to make any girl swoon."

The werewolf dropped her arms, resting one hand on her hip. "And I suppose we should also thank you for capturing some of these poor, poor citizens up for us. It's made tracking them down oh so much easier." The grin on her face grew wide. "We can take it from here. You two are no longer needed."

[Dead]

A second shockwave followed the first and with a horrifyingly sinking feeling Muk felt those little purple fingers gripped around his own weaken in their hold, slipping from his grasp even though he shrieked desperately at his best friend not to let go.

‘No, Lukky, HOLD!’ He clawed frantically at the other goblin, but found he was clawing at empty air. There was nothing where Luk had just been, not even a hint of purple, not even a trace.

‘Lukky!’ he screeched, over and over, ripping apart the rubble around him even though the blast from the hunters threatened to blow him off his feet. “Lukky! LUKKY!”

It was a keening wail, where had his friend gone? Why was he suddenly alone, in this awful place, with awful noises and awful creatures hunting them? He’d never been without his Luk in his entire life and now Muk found himself utterly alone, Luk was nowhere to be found. But that didn’t stop the goblin from searching; he tore through the debris with a feverish desperation, his tiny fingers bloodied and numb, the bullet wound in his shoulder screaming in pain.

But he wouldn’t stop, he couldn’t stop; he had to find Luk. Nothing else matter, nothing else had ever mattered. He was consumed wholly by his need to find Luk, so much so that he didn’t notice the hunter stalk up behind him, unafraid of such a little beast. At the last second, Muk spun around, his face splotched with tears. He snarled, pointed little teeth snapping at the intruder. But instead of meeting a face, he met with the barrel of a gun, and his fate was sealed in an instant, the bang of the rifle not even audible over the cacophony of sounds exploding over the island.

He disappeared, just like Luk, and the two of them were no more.

Quote:
Name: Muk
Species: Dismemberment Goblin
Park Location: Faerie Forest
Physical Description: The blue one
Brief Character Profile: Muk looks like your average goblin kid, albeit a cuter color. He grew up together with Luk, and the purple goblin is his best friend. They both have a basic instinct to rip things apart but due to the tempering nature of their food, this urge is kept in check and their victims are mostly non-living objects, with the occasional bug or small rodent when they can get away with it. Muk isn't very smart and he leaves the thinking up to Luk, preferring to solve his problems with his fists.
