Ruria shook her head. "It's not real spirits, per se. It's the kind of self-spirits,the kind of darkness only found within a person, so when I use a lot of my magic, I also get hurt or easily exhausted." Like right now. She was feeling extremely exhausted.

however, her drowsiness suddenly snapped as she listened to his request, and the last part seemed to repeat in her eyes. She chewed her lower lip nervously, cheeks filling with soft hue. "D-date?" Had she ever been on one? She couldn't really recall..."YES. PLEASE TAKE ME ON ONE." She cried, rather a bit over-excited at the idea.

The sudden outburst made her head spin, and she drooped it. "I-I'm kind of...very tired, Aodhan. C-Can you tuck me in to sleep?"

The fact that she herself would get hurt just to use her magic dis-settled Aodhan. He didn't like the idea of her having to give up bits of herself, to pain, suffering, whatever, just to save others. 'And you don't see yourself as a hero?'

Though it was her reaction to the idea of them going on a date that made him nearly fall out of his chair. He laughed partly in nerves, and partly in excitement as she accepted the idea. It was darling, honestly. Her excitement only made her that much more beautiful to him. She was so alive. He never wanted to see her any other way, not drained from magic, not wounded because of her power, just...alive.

"Of course Ruria. This way," he said as he took their bowls and placed them in the sink. He'd come to clean them out in a moment. He brought her down the hall to his room. It was simple. A two paned window with deep blue curtains was the focus as all he had was floor lamps, armor thrown about, a few weapons, a bed with black bedsheets and a dresser with a mirror. Though it did connect to the bathroom with the hot tub. That was his favorite part honestly. He couldn't count how many times he had to come home from a mission or training to go straight to that bath to soak off whatever liquid that befell against him, whether it be blood, spit, sweat, his own or others...

He pulled back the bedsheets, though Ruria was wearing one of them, he still had no idea how she confused that for a dress. "Just so you know... I don't own dresses. You're wearing a bedsheet. But it's cool. You're like Ariel. If you know who she is... The mermaid? Falls in love with a prince, wears a...I think a...whatever those things are called. That hang from masts and make ships go faster? Clearly I'm a land lover. Anyway...nevermind. I've embarrassed myself enough. And you do look quite tired. Tomorrow...we can talk about where to take you on our date." He wanted to kiss her...in fact. He just may...

As he tucked her in, he gave her a quick peck on the forehead. "Sleep well, Forest Fairy."

"Sarcasm hath fallen on deaf ears," she said, a small smirk on her face. "I know it's not a dress, silly. I was just insinuating you owned one, as I was wearing it as a dress." She broadened her smile, reaching up and tussling his hair. "Mermaids are Maneaters, Aodhan. I won't eat you. Maybe...." she seemed more and more like a little girl in his presence, the years of tortuous training and dark deeds fading against the light he offered. Even now, as he stood above her, tucking her in, she wanted to grab his sleeve, pull him down in the bed with her and cuddle him, but..such a thing...wouldn't it unsettle him?

she blinked in surprise as he lay a kiss on her forehead, almost reaching her hand out for him, but withdrew it at the last moment. No, no..that would be inappropriate.
"Goodnight, Biscuit Troll." she said teasingly. She curled up in his blankets, overtaken by his scent on them. It was good, comforting, but she wanted him there with her.

"Stupid Ruria," she thought. "Don't get so attached so easily, it'll just end up like the others and make you weak." that dark voice had returned, jesting, taunting her. "You'll be weak, and your existence will be pointless. Nobody has any uses for a sword that can't cut."

"But he won't make me weak! If anything, I feel more of life with him around...it's not weak..it's not..."

Aodhan had left the room, closing the door to just a crack as he exited. He walked down the dark hall of his home, seeing the light from the kitchen.

He went to the dishes, turning on the faucet to begin scrubbing them clean and setting them out to dry. He put his hand under the water, waiting for it to become warm. Ruria... He felt...almost conflicted about her.

She was an extremely strong woman, with a power so much stronger than his own, but it was also dangerous to her. She had a history...one that she didn't seem to want to open up about, for it was probably full of reasons as to why she'd forged herself into the woman she was now. So many layers...

He scrubbed at the bowls with the warm water and soup, his brow furrowing as he continued to think. She was so guarded, that even her innocence was just another way to protect herself. Aodhan wanted her to see him as someone she could trust, someone who could talk to her, but he had so many secrets as well.

He'd been with a man, the only time he'd ever slept with someone...and it was a man. Wouldn't that frighten her? And not just a man, but a witch eater... Though she'd admitted to having feelings about...that same man... Maybe the witch eater part wasn't as big a deal as it was to him, but they shared someone... Wouldn't that put anger in her? Or fear that he'd run off...for a man?

It wasn't like that. Kian had...warped Aodhan's mind. Contorted it into something...not filthy, but different. Aodhan would never believe that same gendered partners were evil, or disgusting. They were just...different. Then again, maybe he was only trying to protect himself, for it had been him with another man.

He had scrubbed so hard at one of the bowls that he managed to pull back a fingernail too far. He hissed in pain, watching as blood dripped from where the nail had ripped out of his skin. Sucking on his finger, he went over to another cabinet with a first aide kit inside. He wrapped a bandage around his finger, cursing at himself in silence.

To get...he must give. But he didn't want to risk the thought of ever pushing her away. Not when he'd finally found her again.

Shaking his head, giving up on this thought for the night, he went over to the couch. He'd left his shirt in the kitchen, but at least there was a warm enough blanket here. He was too lazy to brush his teeth tonight. He'd do it in the morning. He just...wanted to stop thinking about so much bad...and just focus on the fact that he was taking a beautiful girl out on a date.

She tossed and turned, and turned and tossed again, unable to sleep, even though she felt exhausted. She could hear the tinkling of dishes being washed, a random hiss of pain, and then silence. Had he gone to sleep, too? She waited until no other sounds could be heard, and slipped from the bed, creeping down the stairs silently, until she found him asleep on the couch.

For a long moment, she simply watched him. Would he be angry about this...? But, it felt so lonely upstairs, and she wanted to be near him still. She took a few steps forward until she was near his side, looking down on his sleeping figure. He was still shirtless, revealing so much flesh she wanted to burrow into and touch.

"Are you sleeping?" she whispered, barely audible. She waited for a reply, a fidget, but when none came, she nestled down on the floor along side the couch, curling into the sheet she had brought with her. "I missed you."

She was finally able to go to sleep there, even though not exactly 'with' him. She didn't even notice when sunlight had begun to stream across the floor, so comfortable in her sleep next to him.

Surprisingly, Aodhan had slept like a rock on his couch. He'd fallen asleep there many a time, but he'd always wake up in the middle of the night and trudge to bed like a zombie wandering out in the night. He opened his eyes, looking at the sun's light as it attempted to trickle into the room from his windows. He had a transparent, yet still opaque curtain over the windows, but it didn't stop the sun from coming in, just dimmed it a bit.

He put his feet onto the ground, recoiling in panic as he felt something...squishy? He looked down, tucking his feet under himself as he saw her sleeping there. When had she come down? Why'd she sleep on the floor and not in his bed? He sighed, feeling relieved she wasn't a dead person or something...strange, hopping over her and going into the kitchen.

He'd make breakfast this morning. He brought out a few eggs, some bread and fruit. He wasn't a bacon fan. Thus that traditional meal wouldn't be had. Besides, this was certainly much more healthy.

He cracked the eggs open, stirring them in a frying pan over the wood burning stove as he spritzed some basic fire magic into the logs there. He wished he had some cheese. Cheesy eggs were the best things on the planet.

He hummed as he cooked, enjoying the idea of having Ruria wake up to a nice meal, unless she was a cranky one when first woken up. Oh gosh...was she a cranky morning person? Aodhan poked his head back into the living room, seeing her form on the floor, though he couldn't see her face. He went back over to the stove, feeling it best to just keep going. Perhaps a good gesture would overrule any cranky symptoms. Perhaps.

Ruria made a somewhat inhuman sound as Aodhan's foot pressed into her, but she didn't seem to really rouse from it. She stayed asleep until the sizzle of eggs cooking roused her, and she rolled over, achily, groggily, and peered with squinting, sleep-crusted eyes from the direction it came from. Too tired to stand up, she effectively wormed/scraped her way towards the kitchen door, finally heaving herself up with another inhuman groan, somewhat reminiscent of "The Grudge" as her long, tussled hair draped to the ground, shielding her bangs -- she was not a terrible morning person, but a horrifying one, resembling something that had been freshly conjured up by necromancy.

She rubbed her eyes, muttering something inaudible as she squinted and glared at the light, gave one more look towards Aodhan, and curled back up on the floor in the middle of the kitchen in the sheet she had brought with her, as if intending to sleep again. "Five...more minutes.."

Aodhan had jumped a bit at the groaning of the woman as she made her way from the living room into the kitchen. He watched with rounded eyes, and mouth slightly ajar as she made her way passed him, not even bothering to look to the eggs he was making, or the assorted fruits he was planning on cutting up and rinsing as a side dish. Man, he really wished he had cheese!

He stood frozen until she made her way into the middle of the kitchen, curling up on the floor and going back to sleep. He raised his brows, his face suppressing a smile as he stood, flabbergasted at such unusual behavior. She was...hilarious. But most definitely not a morning person... He'd have to be sly about trying to wake her again... Or just simply keep the eggs on a low setting...

He put the fruit into a strainer, rinsing off the blueberries, raspberries, strawberries. He loved berry fruits. He moved to the cantelope and began cutting it up into slices. Then he moved to the bread, cutting it up in thick chunks. He wasn't a fan of toasted bread. He pulled out some butter from the icebox and gently heated it up in his hands with basic fire magic.

The eggs were almost finished, so he turned down the heat and turned his attention back to Ruria. How to go about this...

"Ruria? You want any breakfast? Or just to sleep...I can let you sleep...if that's what you'd rather do..." He sounded like a child, trying to get out of some kind of trouble he'd put himself into. He didn't want her to become a wraith-like woman screaming at him "how dare he disturb her slumber!" or something like that...
