ஒ ஒ ஒ Hello again, friend of a friend, I knew you when

spaceGypsy blinked. Woooow. Okay, if she'd had any doubts that this wasn't her friend, they'd fled the second the guy opened his mouth. The expected cockney accent was completely missing, replaced by a cool, smooth, proper inflection. He'd actually enunciated... Gypsy didn't think Jer knew certain consonant sounds even existed. She offered him a small smile when he apologized, waving her hand. Disappointment? Hah! "Don't worry about it! It's not your fault you look like you could be his twin." She chuckled at the thought. It wasn't like this guy could mess with his face the way Gypsy could, and even if he could, he'd have to've seen Jer and purposefully tried to look like him. Although, it occurred to her that Michael looked taller... and there was a certain something about him Jer didn't have. Actually, he was rather cute... Jer wasn't cute, right?

spaceHer eyes flashed blue at his next question, brighter this time, burning with curiosity. Why did he want to know? She wasn't even concerned with how personal the question was, she was more interested in why he would ask such a question. But then she recalled that Jer was adopted... her eyes widened. He could have a brother floating around and not even know, after all! So, what if, what if... that would explain the similarity! But, she didn't have a clue what Jer's family was like... either the one who'd given him up so young that she didn't think he remembered them, or the one that'd adopted him. All she knew was that they'd very suddenly adopted a huge group of kids and that Jer didn't really feel at home in their home. "Uh, I dunno, really. Never met them. We go to a boarding school, so we're always together and away from our families all year." She paused. The next bit of information was very personal... would Jer mind her sharing it? Particularly with someone who might be related to him? But she had nothing to lose, after all. Jer didn't have to know. "He's adopted, though. That's pretty much all I know." She waited. If Michael was asking what Jer looked like... maybe he was adopted, too, and maybe they really were brothers! Her melodramatic mind was probably making assumptions, but still! How cool would that be? Like something out of a book!

Michael listened to her, blinking when she described him as her best friend's twin. Weird. He'd never thought of having the same face as someone else, He'd always thought he'd have his own. Then again, if he could be this guy's double, then there was the possibility that he could still have a biological family out there, somewhere. He quashed that thought though. He'd stated to his parents that they were the only family he had, so why did the idea of someone being his double make him feel like he was standing on the doorstep of something that could change his life? He bit his lip, thinking. "His twin... That... ought to be interesting, right? I always thought I looked like myself, not someone else, to be honest."

The final nail in the coffin was when she stated that he was adopted... just like he was. Something clenched painfully inside of him, and suddenly he didn't think this was a mere coincidence. He'd wondered, well, anyone that had ever been told they were adopted probably all wondered, what their family was like. But two kids adopted? Were his birth parents not ready for kids, and gave them both up for adoption? But that didn't make sense. He was one when he'd been adopted, he knew that much. Had they tried to raise him and determined that they couldn't? He shook his head. No, he wasn't going to think about that. Maybe later, but he doubted that was the reason. "He was adopted... So there's a chance he has family somewhere, right? Ugh, I'm sorry. I probably sound like a right prat for asking all of this. Just ignore me." Part of him wanted to know, and he didn't even realize he wanted to. His parents had been shocked that he never asked about them, to be honest. Maybe he was realizing that they had every right to be shocked. After all, it had to be strange, right?

spaceGypsy chuckled when Michael said he thought he looked like himself. Well, really, didn't they all just look like themselves? Even though he looked enough like Jer that she'd confused them (although honestly now that she was talking to him she had no idea how), he did just look like himself. "Well, even twins look different. If you look close enough, you can always tell them apart." She smiled. She supposed that her own pair of twins weren't really a fair assessment of that; after all, it was pretty easy to tell them apart, since one was a boy and the other was a girl. But she'd met identical twins before and eventually, you could always tell which was which. You just had to look for the difference. She looked him over curiously. "I think you're taller than Jer. And... I dunno. There's something different about your face. I can't really put my finger on what, though." She honestly had no idea what it was, but Michael was definitely better looking that Jer. Definitely. Because Michael... Michael was cute. And Jer... well, he was Jer, right? She wasn't going to say that, though. She didn't know why; normally she would've just out and said it, but... something made her hold her tongue. What was up with that? She flushed, her face drawn in aggravation for a moment. Why was she feeling flustered?

spaceShe watched his face carefully as he spoke, noting the nuances. Something in his expression changed, a light in his eyes that made her wonder what he was thinking. He was so different from Jer... her friend's face was like someone turned a porch light on when his mood shifted. She always knew what he was thinking... or at least had an idea of it. She couldn't tell if Michael was less expressive, or if she just wasn't used to him. She was pretty sure it was both; he seemed to be holding something in. Gypsy was good with faces; she watched them like a movie, paid attention to the way they moved and set. Whatever was on his mind, he was suppressing it or avoiding it... why? His question made her brow crinkle, her eyes changing, this time for good, to a bright blue. "Er, I suppose it's possible. That he has family, I mean, not that you're being a prat. Actually, I know a lot of prats, and you don't really strike me as one." Hogwarts sure had more than it's fair share of prats... she was fairly certain that at least half the surplus was tucked away in Slytherin.

spaceShe sensed that the topic was getting weirdly serious, which was incredibly uncomfortable, since the pair had just met. She glanced down at his sketch which, until her abrupt interruption, he had apparently been quiet frustrated with. Her expression grew thoughtful. "So, is this for fun, or is it Summer homework?" She was betting on the latter. He'd been so frustrated, and it was so very, very awful. There was no way this was a hobby... unless maybe he was just starting. But people who were invested enough in art to get annoyed had usually been drawing for a long time, and if he'd been drawing that long and was still this bad... well, everyone had potential, but she wasn't sure his would get him anywhere. Unless he just needed some help, of course...

Huffing in slight annoyance, the British Museum found one Sy Romellier, a usual visitor of its hallowed halls, frustrated, overheated and currently museless.

                                                        Museless.

He'd had art blocks before, of course, they weren't new to him but it was always frustrating all the same. Taking a moment, jade eyes glanced around, basking in the calm and perpetual state of thereness that always seemed to come over him when he was in this place. It was, after all, where he first decided he wanted to pursue art for a living. Walking down the halls, his steps echoed on the marble tiles, taking no notice of the other people around him. It was relatively quiet-- it was good enough for him right now. He hadn't known what to paint for about two days now and even if it was such a short period of time, the brunette was used to having something to constantly work on, touching up on little details or generally keeping himself busy by scribbling down ideas and sketching. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Pausing in front of one of the illuminated paintings, Sy proceeded to study it, eyes flickering over the minutiae of the embellishment on the man's clothes, the stitching on the peasant's garb, trying to figure out how he could possibly replicate that kind of detail onto his own work. It wasn't long before he got lost in it, mind working in hues and tones and colour.

Dani wasn't sure how she had found herself at this museum. She had been wandering, leaving Chase at home with Ry for awhile. She just didn't want to be the care taker for her only younger sibling left. It was her fault that Audry was dead. She didn't want to watch her other sister right now with that guilt on her mind. Sighing quietly, she crossed her arms and tried to find some peace of mind by staring at all the beautiful art. And it really was beautiful.

She wasn't sure how long she'd been there now, hours must have passed, but she was finally feeling calm again. A soft smile had even wormed its way onto her features somehow. She was just contemplating leaving, when she noticed a boy staring intently at once piece of art. It was almost as if he thought the painting might get up and run away if he looked away from it. The thought made her laugh quietly, and she decided she might as well go see what was so interesting about that one piece.

She hummed softly to herself as she walked up next to him to look at the piece. It was a simple painting really, at least in her eyes, but she had never been much of an artist. She tilted her head to the side before finally she couldn't take it anymore. She had to ask.
"So... uhh... what's got you so enraptured with this piece?" She asked, hating how lame her voice sounded and how awkward her sentence ended up being. Like really? She couldn't come up with anything better than 'uh' and 'so'. To be fair, she was pretty sure the last person she had honestly talked to outside of her family had been the ******** head Kellan.... so she kind of had an excuse.... kind of...

When a voice sounded out beside him, the thoughts that began to whirl around in Sy's head took a sharp, abrupt nosedive into something of the non-aesthetically acceptable norm. Attempting to calm and stop his twitchy fingers--- <******** twitchy fingers ********>--- the brunette brought up both hands to his face, covering the sharp features and exhaled deeply out his nose.

Out with it. Out with it. That's not good.

Uncovering his face, Sy breathed out one last time before turning to look at the person who had halted his train of thought. Looking over the ginger girl once, he turned his attention back to said piece, trying to remake what he had in his head before the interruption. "You're not supposed to talk to strangers," he muttered softly, attention fully on the painting. He was on a roll, maybe at another time he would have put in more effort, but at the moment, he was too preoccupied. He did, at least, try not to be so rude. His brother had taught him better. "It's what it's trying to say," the teen continued absently. "And the detail."

All the unimportant details were clear, strikingly cut and sharp. The twist of gnarled bark in withered, winter-struck trees, the moonlight on the snowbanks and the silver glitter of it on frozen sand and water, the intricate stitching and the gold leaf on his adornments and every fold on the clothing. Everything except the person's features. They were almost blurred, hastily brushed on strokes of paint and colour. What was the story behind it?

Dani raised an eyebrow at his reaction to her speaking. He must have really been intent on that painting for him to have such an odd reaction to her asking a simple question. Not talk to strangers indeed. She supposed he wasn't wrong. The last time she'd talked to a stranger it had ended in her heart getting broken and her brother beating the living s**t out of a guy.... so yeah maybe strangers weren't the best idea... but how else was she supposed to have any sort of life. It wasn't like she went to school or anything. "What I'm supposed to do, and what I actually do, tend to be completely different things usually." She muttered.

As she spoke she turned her eyes back to the painting, still not seeing what he was saying. What it was trying to say? It was just a simple painting of a guy and a tree and a lake. What meaning did that have? She tilted her head this way and that, trying to get a new angle, see what he was seeing. Finally she puffed out a breath of air.
"Well... what do you think it is trying to say then?" She asked softly. The way he was speaking in practically a whisper had her suddenly feeling self conscious about talking at a normal room volume, and thus whispering herself.

It wasn't that she didn't appreciate art, it was just that she had never learned anything about it. All she'd ever been taught was things she could teach herself, and she didn't know how to teach herself to see art the way other people did. She wasn't even sure if that was a teachable skill. The way he was looking at the painting though made her feel like she was missing out on something absolutely wonderful. Maybe he could show her what he was seeing? It was a grasping reach, but she had nothing better to do with her time, and she was curious.

Well, maybe prat wasn't exactly the right word he was looking for, but at least he wasn't being one. Instead, the blond was just glad that it was possible, and well... He'd have to wait and see, he guessed. He was glad for the topic change, though. It was odd, really, talking about someone that looked just like him, and he wasn't sure he liked the feeling. Instead,he looked down at his drawing and sighed. "It's supposed to be a sketch of a bridge right there. We were supposed to do a sketch of a painting we liked for Art class, and well, this is my attempt." He squinted at the picture, deciding that no, it didn't look like a bridge at all, since it more resembled some sort of medieval torture device, and he winced.

"Yeah, let's just say drawing isn't my strong point. I have no talent for it, and well, this was supposed to be the London Bridge back in the eighteen hundreds. Umm, that's supposed to be the main span across, and one of the supports, and... I think I'm going to have to retry drawing this. I'm just glad I'm not going into anything that requires me to use a pencil to draw anything." He smiled a bit crookedly, before just deciding to tear the page out of the sketchbook. He was going to be so glad when he didn't have to take the class the semester after this one. The last one was bad enough, and he held no illusions that his drawings were just ruddy awful. He eyed the painting again, then looked back, realizing something. "Hey, have your eyes always been green? I could have sworn they were blue a moment ago."

spaceGypsy listened carefully as he explained what the drawing was supposed to be... and tried really, really hard to see it. But, she couldn't... which was bad. After all, she was an artist, and was supposed to be able to find the imagery in anything... hell, she could see faces in dirt. But this looked nothing like a bridge to her. She scowled a bit, not at him, but at herself, and the assignment. "That's kind of dumb. The assignment, that is. You can't draw a painting! Paint... it has layers, and textures, and shading, and all sorts of other stuff you can't get with a pencil. You could try, but it's never going to look right. Pencil is probably the worst medium you could use to recreate a painting with!" A lock of green hair fell in her face, and she brushed it behind her ear, willing it, and the rest of her head, to stay green. She was out in muggle London, after all. But, she could feel it trying to change to blue, like the ocean, deep like her thoughts were. She gritted her teeth; it didn't need to be this hard! She'd spent so much time around wizards that she didn't really care if it just changed color most of the time. After all, it was nothing new. But she couldn't let it act up like that around muggles... maybe she needed to practice more.

spaceShe tried to focus on his words, to focus on his attempt to explain the drawing, watching him point to various features and trying to see it... she supposed it was there, sort of. Maybe he just needed help. He said he had no talent, but anyone could learn, right? She glanced up just in time to see the crooked smile, and blushed. Why was she blushing? Yeah he was cute, but she knew lots of cute guys, none of them made her blush! She was so busy wondering why on Earth he made her blush that she didn't really think about his question before answering. "Oh, they do that sometimes," she said with a dismissive wave, before realizing how completely stupid that had been. Her blush deepened, and her eyes went wide, and she had to try very, very hard to keep them green and not let herself turn orange, because that would be very, very bad. "I mean, the colors. They sort of... look different. From different angles and stuff. Turn my head one way and they're blue, another and they're green. And sometimes they look sort of gray... they're like hazel eyes, sort of. Except blue," she finished lamely, hoping beyond all hope that he'd buy it. As soon as she'd been halfway through, she'd thought, 'no, stupid, tell him they're contacts, that they change colors. He might buy that, muggles can do that, right?' But it'd been too late. She glanced at the crumpled up piece of paper that'd been his failed drawing, and decided a distraction was in order.

space"You really shouldn't have crumpled that up. I mean, you still have to do the assignment, right? You would've at least had something to turn in..." She paused, her expression thoughtful... it was faked, of course. She had planned this all out in the span of a few seconds. "Oh, but maybe I could help you out with another? I'm an artist, I mostly paint but I do pretty good sketches, too. Uuuuh... here, lemme show you something." She reached into her bag and pulled out a pencil and a small sketchbook, something she never left home without. Never knew when inspiration would strike... or it would come in handy like now. She held her pencil sideways and opened the sketchbook to a clean page. "First off, you should try holding your pencil like this; it'll give you more control and make things like lines easier. Takes some getting used to, but it's a lot better. Plus, it gives you the option of thin or wide lines," she made a few gestural strokes to illustrate, "Which makes it a bit easier to mimic a painting's brushstrokes. Really, charcoal would be ideal, but a pencil can work if you know how to use it. It can also help to mostly look at what you're drawing, with the sketchbook in your peripheral vision. That way, you're actually seeing what you're drawing, and not having to remember it." The girl turned the page and did a very quick, very simple sketch of the painting he'd been attempting to draw, not bothering with details, just with the basic form lines. She showed it to him. "I mean, I've been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil, so I mean, it won't look this good... I mean, especially if you really have no talent. But drawing's not just a talent, it's a skill, and anyone can learn it. They just need the right knowledge and the right tools. My mum taught me that; she's an artist, too. Has a shop in London where she sells her stuff and teaches." This was said with pride; Gypsy loved that her mom was able to pursue her dreams. So many people thought it was a stupid trade, that it served no purpose... but art was life, creating it was living, and anyone who had that need to create in them and didn't... they just... died. Inside, which to Gypsy was a completely awful sort of death. You might as well be kissed by a dementor. Your life wouldn't really be much different.

Glancing at the girl next to him-- he couldn't very well ask her to leave now, could he? It was everyone's property and he really couldn't, not without feeling absurdly shitty. Sometimes Sy damned Vinnie's manners to all hell-- it was so difficult in life when you had to take people into consideration. "You should work on that rather than whatever it is you're doing," Sy replied blithely, going back to the painting as soon as he could, now studying how the light fell over it and onto the subjects.

The movement was getting sort of irritating, as much as he tried to reign it in. Just continuing to look at the painting was a past time of his. Sometimes it was nice to just stand back and look, studying everything and nothing. Rolling his eyes at the question, Sy turned back to the girl, shoving his hands in his pockets with one sharp movement. "I don't know."

Art was different. That was all.

Sapphire was bored out of her mind. She had been in the museum almost thirty times since she was six. They almost never had anything new, and what was with having to come with her cousins? She could have brought Sata all by herself. But no. Her mom didn't trust her. With good reason, but Sapphire was trying to be a better big sister. Trying so freaking hard that it hurt. Sata had noticed and had wanted Sapphire to come anyway. It was her way of making up not getting him anything for his birthday, and he had invited the twins because they could always get out... That and they would seriously cause trouble for Sapphire.

Denise was keeping a good grip on Carter though, and Ryan hardly ever did anything unless Carter was with him. Sata chuckled at this, just seeing his Aunt Dee holding onto Carter with a leash. Ryan was trusted enough without one? That was a new one. "Yes yes... We've seen the picture of the royal family. Can we go to another part? Like the new exhibit?" Sapphire whined. Denise rolled her eyes and Ryan wondered what was with her. The girl had gone home and almost dyed her hair white. She loved her hair though... Should she? She wasn't sure, and she didn't like seeing pictures of ladies with white hair. Those were old... Sata just grinned. "Oh Sapphire! Dearest sister, do you want to look like an old lady?" Sata asked her for the hundredth time. Sapphire growled a threat and crossed her arms.

There was several good things about having a new younger sister and then there was several cons. It gave David a perfectly legitamite excuse to keep leaving Tinworth to stay in London to visit his parents and new sister, because after all babies didn't stay babies forever, but it also gave either of his grandparents a perfectly excuse to stop by and visit as well-as his new sister Leah was their grandchild. David wasn't entirely sure if Cathy was dodging the house when he was there because she really didn't like how loud babies could be-or at least Leah was at times- or if it was partially she was avoiding their grandparents or him. In the end he figured it wasn't like she was getting into trouble, she had end up picking up some German classes for the summer or something. Probably a private tutor knowing his family, but he figured it kept Cathy out of trouble. Though, David was fairly sure she had been more interested in picking up an ancient language-so their grandparents probably had something to do with what language she had end up with that summer.

Regardless, Cathy was off in her language lessons and David had the day free to spend with his little sister and since it was the middle of the week, his grandmother had decided it was a wonderful opportunity to spend time "with some of my favorite grandchildren and without that horrid squib hanging around". David wasn't sure if his grandmother merely forgot that her youngest daughter had married a squib and had those favorite grandchildren of hers or she refused to acknowledge it. David was pretty sure it was the later. In the end, David won by picking a very muggle place, the British museum, which he managed to campaign for because it was so close to where the League home was and it was one of his sister's favorite places so of course Jane Avery could see if it was an appropriate place for a girl to hang out in her free time.

David held Leah as they walked, fairly confident he didn't want to hear his grandmother go on if Leah happened to spit up or something on the woman's designer clothes, or worse the woman just decided to pull out her wand and clean up the mess herself, which she would. Maybe that was why his mother was so good at the oblivate spell, David thought wryly as they walked through one of the portrait galleries and Jane Avery scoffed, "You have horrible tastes in places to bring a child."

"It is a place of culture and history, and I don't care how irrelevant some of you think it is," David answered to his grandmother, "besides Leah is happy enough."

Jane Avery narrowed her gaze at her grandson and made a small sound of disporval before turning her attention to the voice of a child calling out a name Sapphire and said something about her wanting to look like an old lady. David glanced to where his grandmother's blue eyes were narrowed and frowned as he was fairly sure it was exactly the one Sapphire he knew. Turning his head, he said to his sister tapping her on the nose, figuring if it was indeed Sapphire Snow it was just best to ignore her, "Should we go see the Rosetta Stone, it's big sister Catie's favorite thing in all of London after all?" The young Leah chuckled and reached out for her brother's hand and David was fairly sure the girl hadn't a clue on what he said and just was enjoying the attention, which was fine with him. He wasn't like Cathy and got annoyed by the fact babies didn't automatically start speaking in full sentences for things they wanted.

Denise chuckled at their antics. Ryan was unimpressed and Carter wanted free. Denise was glad that Carter's abilities were still dormant... Ryan's had already started appearing and Shayna's hadn't until a few weeks before her letter arrived. But if Carter's had, she would probably have a harder time keeping him settled. Carter finally gave up and crossed his arms. He was just bored. "Ryan, your a traitor." "I am not. I just know when to stop. And now is when to stop." The other said. Somehow Ryan had turned their hair white one night. They went from brunette to white. Sapphire was still trying not to cross her arms and make a snide comment at her brother. She kept her hands in her pockets. Her wand was in her pants leg, between the two holes. But they were charmed not to show the wand. It made it so much easier. Sapphire was sure she heard a familiar voice but paid it no heed. If it was who she thought it was she wouldn't be surprised. That was when Sata grabbed her arm.

"Come on Sapphire! Let's go see the exhibit!" He said suddenly dragging her with him. She almost slipped and fell but was able to regain her balance with only luck and her time at finishing school. "And where are we going... Darling brother..." She asked seethingly sweet. Sata only giggled. "Oh just this way." He said. Sapphire stopped and pulled her arm free before smirking at his pouty face before wrapping an arm around his shoulder. He was getting so tall. "Don't worry. Don't worry. You'll still get time with your dear older sister, but we don't have to run." She said chuckling at his face. Denise sighed as she followed. Ryan at her side and Carter fighting to go with.

Sapphire then noticed an elder lady with a male and the male was holding a baby. She didn't even notice the male's face as she said, "Oh, che bel bambino!" She wanted to go over but refused to go very close. She wanted to tell them that the baby was adorable. Then noticed who was holding the baby and smirked. "What a beautiful baby, Mr. League. Is that the baby sister you were talking about?" She asked from where she stood with her brother. They were only a few feet in distance. But she couldn't help it. "She's so cute!" She said almost happily. "S-sapphire?" Sata asked. What was going on?

David looked up from his sister who was currently tugging on his finger as she heard the comment about Leah being beautiful and then his name. He raised a brow when Sapphire with some kid around the year of incoming first years, maybe a year or two younger, was with her. David half smiled as he pulled his hand away from Leah and adjusted her in his arms for the moment and said, "She has a name. It's Leah. And, I didn't realize you actually liked children. Or is it you just like to admire them from afar but not close up?"

Jane raised a brow and glanced between her grandson and the girl who came over and said, "Of course she's adorable. She is an Avery and at least her father had the decency to carry good genes over to his children."

"You can't chose inherited traits all that easily," David said, suppressing the roll of his eyes, knowing good and well his grandmother would most likely ignore his comment-which when she spoke next she obviously did.

"Anyways," Jane said with a large smile as she studied Sapphire, "Is this the Gryffindor girlfriend Wendy mentioned you having? What was... is... that girl's name something ridiculously garish and probably guaranteed her sorting..."

"Leonette Mitchell?" David said, before he could correct his grandmother she nodded and went on with a large smile.

"Ah, yes, that. Anyways, it is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Mitchell was it? I am David's maternal grandmother, Jane Avery," Jane said holding out a hand to Sapphire for the girl to shake. The girl was said to be pureblood, so at least her grandson had enough sense there, and Jane liked to think the sorting was just some mis-sort of the hats part, like obviously the Ryans kid had to be, and if it wasn't, maybe it was just some whim her grandson was going through. It wasn't that horrific since her grandson wasn't hooking up with half-blood or even worse muggleborns.

Sapphire couldn't help but smile at the baby. She walked closer by just a few feet to get a better look before noticing the banter between the two. She blushed when the older woman thought she was Leo. But she had to turn her down. "Excuse me, I'm sorry to correct you Madam, but I am not Leonette Mitchell. It's pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'm Sapphire Snow. Slytherin fifth year." She said giving the woman's hand a firm but gentle shake. "I find it ridiculous to be mistaken for the gryffindor, but it's just as well." She said as she retracted her hand. Sata came up behind her kind of shy but not as shy as his sister Feather would have been. "Oh. This is my little brother Sata. And coming up now are my Aunt Denise and my cousins Ryan and Carter." She said politely introducing them.

Sata looked at the baby. "Her name is Leah? That's pretty. " he said looking at the baby. When Sapphire nudged him he glared her way. "It's a pleasure to meet you." He said after a moment. Denise knew better than to let her boys... Carter... near an older woman and a baby. Sapphire looked to David. "And you don't know enough about me to assume I didn't like children. I adore kids." She said. Sata looked up at his siter with disbelief in his eyes but he wasn't sure. He didn't know that much about her either.
