With a glance at Dakota, Poke just sorta...stared at him for a bit. And if one looked closer they might have seen a slight blush. Maybe. Or was she just thinking about eating him? who would know. and with a embarrassed cough, a few rearranging of bones and changing from a quadruped back to bipedal, Poke had changed back to her humanoid form so she could converse with Ami a little better.
"Pokerus is my name." She grinned, waving her hand nonchalantly. "You don't have to bow to me, I ain't that important." Well, maybe not yet, but even so. "And yeah, there is a lot of ancient knowledge on our planet. Some of it usefully, some of it...not so much. But a few of your kind was there to research it I believe." She then nodded to Ami's question. "I can...sorta predict them. I can sense changes in air and water pressure, and both of these drop drastically just before a storm hits. So I can give you some warning at least." Although this ability would be pretty useless since she was on a giant spaceship.

Giving Roch an apologetic look as he moved to tend to the destroyed screen, Kat fixated her gaze back upon Wilson once again. "Heh heh.. sorry.." Well, okay.. maybe demonstrating her abilities by attacking one of the commanders screen was a bad idea. But at least no one was fried from this demonstration, right? Just Wilson's ship. Well, at least he saw for himself that she was capable on killing screens..
Rubbing at the back of her neck, Kat made a mental note not to do that a second time. At least not to the ship. Lucky for her, their 'king' tolerated much of what was happening today.
Glancing over at Dakota, she dropped her hand back to her side giving the boy an almost blank expression. "Uhh, thanks.." She was pleased with her aim, but.. Wilson looked less than pleased with her example. Then again, it was expected with her destroying his property. Oh well, what was done was done. No use fussing over it now.

If Ami had a tail it would've slightly wagged. It was always interesting learning new things, and Pokerus' abilities were no different. Funny, how she had had a myriad of information from her next door neighbor, but was only learning it now through a dragon through bizarre circumstances.
"Ah! That's fascinating. I can only really tell when there are chemical alterations to the composition of water ... mostly for survival reasons." She looked up at her new friend. "Is a storm coming now?" She wanted to see this mysterious ability in action! What better way than to watch it first hand.
Her hands, meanwhile, tapped out a message on her PDA to a friend.

PDA Text to Kat: Where are you? I just met the most peculiar beings, a drogiam! You'd like her, I think. Can you see her in the crowd? She's rather large.

"Chemical alterations huh? interesting..." The sudden request was a bit..difficult for Poke to do. There wasn't any fresh air running through the ship as the pressure always stayed the same. But nonetheless she obliged. Though for all outward appearances she was just standing there with her ear fins twitching and moving about.
"Uh...." She looked at Ami with a sheepish grin. "I can't...really detect any changes at the moment...although I did feel a slight drop earlier when I was outside." Again her ears twitched. There just wasn't much weather activity going on at the moment, though she was just happy the atmosphere outside was breathable. If it wasn't....she didn't want to think about the implications.
He was proud of his crewmen. They each had their own unique set of skills that would serve them well in battle, but who would become tribute? Specific names and faces jumped out at the commander. Faces that refused to leave his mind, and that was when he knew he had arrived at his decisions at last. Wilson raised both arms to silence anyone who continued to speak.
A hush rippled over the crowd, an unsettling wave that caused him to swallow the lump in his throat. “I’ve made my choices,” he called out, slowly bringing his arms back to his sides. He stepped forward as others stepped back to form a wide circle around him. The crown dangling by his side suddenly grew heavier, but he couldn’t understand why. It was just a junky crown he had found one day. Commanders didn’t need unnecessary symbols of power, but he had kept it anyways, and now as it hung from his belt, he couldn’t help but frown uncomfortably.
“First, my Corporal,” he announced, a hand reaching into his jacket to search for something as he kept moving forward. People instinctively moved away, but the awkward steps came to a halt when Wilson stopped in front of a young lad. “Ryan, you have proven to me over and over again that you have my back and that you will always be at my side when I need it most. You have shown me your strength, your wit, and your determination.” Wilson pulled out what could only be described as a sonic screwdriver (how familiar…) out of his pocket and handed it to the younger man. Inside the blue glass there appeared to be something swirling inside. Wilson grinned slyly as he pulled back his hand, green tendrils of gas reforming into fingers. “I made it myself,” he whispered before coughing surreptitiously. “Make me proud.”
“Kat.” This time he didn’t even bother to be within sizeable distance when he called out her name. The next item was easier to find as he reached into his pocket and casually tossed something through the air toward her. “Catch.” Funnily enough, the pendant looked like a glowstick. But like the screwdriver before it, there was a gas swirling inside. A few nearby crewmen gagged slightly as gas swirled around Wilson’s feet. “You’ve always been stubborn and headstrong, but they are both traits that I believe will serve you well in a fight. As the 1st Lieutenant, I hope you will lead everyone to victory with your powers.” He shot a cautious look to the screen. “And after this, do pay for that screen.”
The third person he had a more difficult time locating among the sea of faces. It was quite comical to watch the leader spin around confusedly a few times before he stopped suddenly and pointed somewhere with his mouth open. “Ah. Yes.” He already had the third item out and ready to slap onto Dakota’s wrist as soon as he was within range. It was difficult to discern whether or not his smile was proud, worried, or a passive-aggressive way of telling Dakota not to screw things up. “You have always been…” Wilson struggled for words as he removed his hand from Dakota’s wrist to reveal gas swirling beneath the band’s surface. “Well, 2nd Lieutenant just look out for everybody, alright? It’s what you’ve always done, and what you do best.”
Wilson patted him on the back before he began to walk away with purpose. His steps were measured and calm when he headed for Ami. Unlike the others, there is no sort of bravado or flair, anything special about his arrival toward her. He was completely serious, plain, and formal. He held out a glass item, already filled with spinning, bright green gas. “As the Seargeant, I know you will make the right decisions and guide those who are lost and go where I cannot.” He nodded curtly, reassuringly.
Then he raised his arm as if to say “But wait, there’s more!” “I said I would pick four, but I’ve decided to pick two more.” Wilson grinned as he brandished yet another item. He held the chain loosely around his fingers, shifting in and out of gas form until the blues and greens of the pendant gleamed brightly and glowed. The pupil seemed to stare at a certain reptilian girl as he called out, “Pokerus, I realize you’re more used to doing offense, but I also know you’re a guard.” His grin grew. “I hope you’ll use your size and speed to aid others when they need it most as a 2nd Lieutenant.”
“And for Miss Vanya I’m hoping this will suffice.” With his other hand he revealed a ring with speckles of grin shifting within the precious gems. “As much as I don’t appreciate people tearing up my ship.” He shot her a look as if to say “Yes, you’ll be paying for that after this” before he continued, “But it was certainly an impressive show of power. I hope you use it well to help carry us to victory as a 1st Lieutenant.”
He smiled, but his eyes crinkled in a way that made him seem…tired? Regardless, Wilson turned away to face the others. “Please don’t feel disheartened if you weren’t chosen, for you are still a proud officer that is more than capable of assisting them when the time arises. You may even—“ His voice hitched for a split second. “—fill their shoes should they be rendered unable to perform their duties.” He paused and for a moment the commander was gone, replaced by a swirling mass of bright green gas that seemed to choke everyone within the room, their lungs burning from the deadly vapor. This was it. The commander had gone absolutely crazy. He had—
Returned to normal. He lingered in his spot to catch his breath. But as he pressed one hand to his chest, Wilson grinned and raised his other arm in a gesture for everyone to do the same. On everyone’s palm was a symbol, plain and in thin black lines. But if someone moved their hand around, perhaps they would notice how the swirls seemed to move, as if they were clouds of galactic dust forming galaxies.
He sounded out of breath when he spoke again, “Each and every one of you is necessary for this fight, please realize that. The meeting has now ended and you are free to leave as you please.”

[[ Note: Everyone feel free to make a description of your char for me to put on the front page! (But chosen ones especially OnO) And clarification on the gas: this is Wilson's way of 'branding' everyone with some of his power so that they all have access to the special ability (but you still need to carry around some sort of tech to actually use it ICly). It's painful. Enjoy~ ]]

Dakota had just been about to make his way to the pretty little Drogaim when he hand was taken, and by the commander none the less. The slap on the wrist seemed to be a little excessive and if Dakota thought that slapping the wrist of a Liviusian was in some way a reminder to behave well that only made the livius want to-
Oh hey its a bracelet. He studied the thing suspiciously at first before smiling. "Although I have seen you among the crew, it's a little funny that you know me so much. I will do my best for us and our kingdom." Dakota held the bracelet up looking at the swirling gas and blowing on it. Then tried heating it just in case. When neither moved the gas from its pattern, he deemed it safe and nodded.
As the 2nd, he would be diligent in the defenses of his kingdom. And then he heard the call for a second...2nd and grinned. What odd little fates put him paired in title with the Drogaim he was watching before. Interesting turn of events to be honest.
That was until he felt the choking sensation of gas, watching as the commader all but DISSIPATED in green stuff. Inhaling only meant death as it filled his lungs and he wondered if it was a trick, a scheme set up by the commander to offer the tributes to the voice already dead. He brought eyes up to glare hatefully at the commander for the betrayal when everything turned back to normal. There was no strange sensation of choking, Wilson looked normal but tired and Dakota was confused as hell. SO instead he did what he did best and looked over to the other members, especially the drogaim.
He tried to catch the reptellian's eye and waved, of course noticing that there was a mark now on his hand. He moved it exprimentally and still managed to look like he was waving at the girl. They'd be partners after this. As well as paired with the 1st Lieutenants. He also noticed of the group chosen...Himself and Ryan were the only males of the tributes.
As soon as the commander had called for silence, Poke was listening intently. So it was time for him to choose his crew. Moving back with the others as the circle was created, she listened with rapture as the choices were made.
Yes, she could tell they were strong and dedicated crew, they were great candidates. She had not seen his abilities in action either, but it was a surprise to see how potent they were. That gas looked toxic, but it also seemed to be infused with the items he was giving out. Rather interesting.
When the four candidates were picked the Drogiam nodded to herself, but then the commander raised his hand once more, and in his hand there gleamed a necklace. the item glowed with the potent gas from the commander, and even from where she stood Poke could see the eye staring right back at her. Her eyes slitted in response, and she held her hand out to receive the item. It felt heavy in her hands, the weight of responsibility hitting home.
"Commander..." It was clear she was in shock. He had chosen her as a 2nd lieutenant. one with a strong mind and spirit, who will guard and protect all.. She heard the last of the commanders words and clenched her fists. No, she wouldn't let that happen. She would do her duty for the ship and her comrades.
And then the room was filled with gas. She gasped, the involuntary intake of air filled her lungs with the substance. Nearly doubling over she clutched her chest, but the sensation of choking was over quickly, and the commander was back again, raising his arm. Doing the same, Poke was intrigued to see a symbol was marked on her palm.
She lowered her hand, but only to move it to her chest. "Commander!" She shouted. "I swear on the pride and strength of my people that I will defend you all to my very last breath!". It was indeed true she was a guard of the ship, making it her business to keep everyone on board safe from outside invaders. Weather it was hostile aliens or space pirates (not you Roch, she knew you were a good guy...sorta), she would fight them all.
The seriousness was over when her gaze rested on Dakota once more. So she would be working with him from now on. This was going to be interesting. She raised her own hand, and turned it into a thumbs up as she walked over. "Glad to be working with you, lieutenant Dakota" Wow, that sounded weird.

Being a Guard/watchdog on the ship, Pokerus makes it her business to keep watch for invaders and to fend them off with her set of heavy weaponry. And if that doesn't work she'll fight with tooth and claw to keep her comrades safe from harm.

Once the entire gas charade was over with, Madeline seriously considered quarantining herself the infirmary to examine her new brand. Frowning, she drew her hand to her eyes and squinted, and then, when nothing seemed to jump out at her face and attempt clawing her eyeballs out, she shrugged and dropped it, shoving the glove back on and waiting for the touch sensors to reactivate the glove to its neon prowess. Everyone seemed to be in either a congratulatory or lust-driven mood (ie. Dakota), and the solemn attitude and the fact that her commander had just gone batshit crazy did little to stir her suddenly deficit conversational interests.
Walking backwards until her back met a wall (she really didn't care to be near Dakota at that current moment; she might have been catty and well-traveled in the beds department but she didn't care to watch him make googly eyes at all the other smokin' ladies around), Madeline stared down at her gloved hand, now branded from the painful gas. It throbbed obnoxiously. Couldn't Wilson have warned them about this beforehand? The girl grimaced and yanked open one of the belt pouches, withdrawing a tiny black tube that lit with a neon blue streak once she smoothed her finger over it. A needle drew out of the end, and without much ceremony, she jabbed it into the skin of her wrist (academic interest, bitches), withdrawing a moment later when she was satisfied. Analyzing it would probably go nowhere, but hell if she wasn't interested in seeing the results. She might have also forgotten her blood type. Good going, Madeline.
Watching the morbid festivities of swearing into an oath of certain death, Madeline sunk down until she was leaning against the wall with her hands on her knees. Where was the alcohol? She wanted alcohol. If she was going to die for this guy who'd just proved himself crazy, she wanted to get drunk one more time first and not sleep with Dakota.
The surgeon closed her eyes and listened to everyone talking around her; from Dakota and his lewd comments to Ami and her analytical mumbling.
One plus one equals two. She thought when it all just grew into a mutinous cacophony. O2 molecules, alveoli, deoxygenated blood, the biology of being alive.
She exhaled, and thought about dying.
Fourth form basics of respiration.
She cracked a smile. Breathe in like you mean it.

There was something about the familiar, but fake, smile that irked Elliot.
"I've been good. You, on the other hand, seem really busy."
Elliot had wanted to say more. But in the middle of all these people... He stepped back. There were people all around the black-haired man, clamoring for his attention or approval, and Elliot needed neither of those. When was it that the loner boy he knew became someone like this?
He looked at Wilson surrounded by all these people whom were clearly his friends and Elliot felt something akin to anger. The gas swirled around him, cloying to the throat and stinging to the skin. Elliot clenched his fists. He was not thinking of the gas, of the potential for imminent danger, he was not even thinking of Wilson. He was thinking of Emma. He was thinking of Emma all alone in that place, all alone, and when he thought of her and her words and--
Elliot knew that he had not forgiven Wilson yet. But unlike Wilson, he was far more adapt at concealing his thoughts. Elliot's smile was immaculate and unreadable, it was the same mix of knowing and confidence as always. After Wilson had finished speaking, Elliot turned and left.
He held up a hand as he walked out of the room. "Come find me later if you want to know so badly."

Roch went still, then slowly closed the metal wall up, his entire body tense as he heard the speech behind him. Here he'd gone and offered himself up as one of the ones most likely to die-- THEN the commander picks a worthless b*****d that spent the entire time trying to crawl into females' pants. And a chick that routinely destroyed his BLIZNOXING SHIP--Two of them!
He took a deep breath. Gagged on the commander, waited it out (what? Working in the basement almost killed you tons of times on various bergs.) Reminded himself that while he was qualified, he was also a pirate. An EX-pirate, but still a pirate. Maybe the commander was just looking for brute force, regardless of the s**t he'd said when interviewing them.
He lifted his right hand, watching as it shifted into a classier looking chainsaw, then simply CUT out the piece of wall that had been damaged. He hauled the wall out of where it had been and tossed the massive piece over his shoulder, heading off for the scraps area.
Hell, he figured, he might as well start on the caskets for the bodies. They were all going to die with a brilliant crew like that.
Roch is a light purple skinned alien called a kilijian, with a high tech implant over his left eye that glows different colors, and a right arm that looks normal, but is cyborg/nano-tech with the ability to change into anything he wants it to. He has several moving tattoos on his arms and chest, a glowing purple mohawk, several earrings, black jeans and steel toed gravity boots.
Lumikki is a six tailed fox, small in her natural form. She is adpt at following orders and actually brighter than she lets on. Ready to serve as nurse and pawn when needed. But might be hiding...
Lumikki's ears swiveled as she heard the commander talk. Oh yay she wasn't going to be really needed. The ones chosen seemed to be good enough, except for that one...he liked to flirt. Still in her natural form she watched one of the mechanics out of the corner of her eye.
Feeling a painful sensation on the pad of her paw she whimpered before she turned to see the mechanic storm out. Ears tilting and tails swaying she thought shed follow him. At a safe distance that is.

There was nothing to really conclude an important meeting like the sound of a chainsaw on metal. Bix made a wincing face and held his hand up to his ear, turning away a bit. The serpentine man didn't envy any of those who'd been given position. The truth was that he was relieved. Not being important meant less eyes were on him. He could still make a difference without having a target painted on his back.
Of course a cool swirly gas thing would have been nice.
The albino hung back a bit, smirking as their cyborg mechanic stormed away. Did the guy really think a pirate was going to get rank?

Zephyros' eyes scanned the area for those who have been named. He already recognizes Ami and the livius being. His eyes also narrow in on the persons who have nearly destroyed the ship. With a raise a brow he shakes his head softly and bows towards the commander. He knows what he is dong, he wouldn't put this ship in danger, at least that's what Zephyros hopes. The choking was nearly insufferable, he was afraid it would have ended right there-- but then everything was back to normal. Confusedly he looks down at his left arm and notices that under the electric weapon a symbol swirled on his hand. A symbol of trust, he was still part of the crew. His mouth turns up into a smile..
Taking a turn he moves to leave the floor to prepare... however he spots something feathered he hadn't noticed before. He takes a few steps forward to it and moves to greet it. A man( Bix), he realized-- wait that sound! It was horrible. quickly his head twisted to the right and he sees the wall being removed.
"... what are you doing?"

"Taking the wall," Roch said, still heading for the exit. "We'll just replace the entire thing, it's faster," he said. He didn't look very happy when he said that, but it might have been the weight on his back--
Though it probably wasn't. He headed out the exit. The bird guy could follow and ask more questions if he wanted, he didn't care. He had a job to do. (IE he was pouting.) "Actually, come with me, I'll take you measurements," he told Zephy. He had no clue he was also being followed by a fluffy crewmember, as well.
Bix smiled at the Quetz approaching him. Their planets were not far apart and his own species was considered to be a bit of an offshoot. They were still serpents, still feathered, but lacked the wings. Instead they were deft in the jungles, in trees, leaping and climbing. Bix knew that he was an oddity with his albinism. He'd always been.
As the other was distracted by the mechanic, the jovial albino relaxed and leaned in to whisper only to Zephy, "I'm pretty sure that's just a very productive tantrum." He leaned back with a conspiratorial yet fun expression.
